    Crispy Rice w Spicy Tuna

Great overall experience. The staff was very nice, the restaurant was clean and the food tasted fresh with great flavors! The crispy spicy tuna was a great appetizer treat with that warm crispy rice and cold spicy tuna and eel sauce, YUM!! The Blaze Ramen we ordered at medium heat and it was just the right amount of spice. The flavors of the broth were a delight and the chicken tasted fresh. I will be back for more soon!!

Stopped into Silverlake Ramen before a comedy show @ Tempe Improv. Restaurant is super clean and modern. You order at a kiosk and seat yourself. We ordered 2 combos which is a ramen bowl with an appetizer. I had the fried gyoza that came with spicy mayo. Really flavorful and the mayo packed a good amount of heat. For my bowl I chose the classic w/ chicken and added bean sprouts, fresh garlic and an egg. The broth was delicious and not overly salty. Ingredients were super fresh and our food came out quickly. It was the perfect choice for a quick stop before the show. I'd definitely return to Silverlake Ramen!

2nd time coming to Silverlake Ramen in Tempe. 1st time was in February and 2nd time yesterday. I knocking off one star because they took the Happy Hour menu and I feel that the server could have done a better job comparing the large vs. small bowl. However, the food was good. Loved the ramen when I got it in Feb. The chicken karaage was just okay, and I honestly thought the bowl would be a bit bigger. My friend got the dumplings, which were nothing special, but it's still good. My other friend got the Truffle Garlic ramen which she loved. The pork bun was delish! I'd get that again. The place is more of a family-friendly, chill ramen spot. Spacious eating area, so you won't really have to wait long for a table. If you like getting appetizers, do the ramen combo. You get a bowl and an appetizer for $20, which I think is a good deal!

It is so genuinely baffling how difficult it is to ruin a delivery order but this silverlake location just happens to know how to ruin an experience. I ordered via uber eats and had my driver deliver this to me. Despite ordering with utensils, my order didn't come with a single one. How does that make any sense when I ordered RAMEN?????? To make it even better, they didn't properly secure the bag. The poor driver had ramen broth leaking in her car and all throughout the bag, so much so that when she finally came up to deliver it to me IT FELL ON THE FLOOR AND I HAD NO BROTH WHATSOEVER. SO THANKS. Not only did I wait nearly 80 minutes for this to be made and delivered to me, but by the time it physically arrived the broth had leaked all the way through the bag that it broke the bag and spilled all of its contents on the floor. Fantastic. Absolutely will never recommend this location for how incompetent they are.

Silver lake ramen is one of my favorite ramen spots to go! The garlic truffle ramen is very rich in flavor and everything I look for in a good bowl of ramen. The ambience is casual dining, you order at a kiosk in the front and then pick a table and the food will be brought to you. The price is fair for what you pay for. Overall I definitely recommend this place to fellow ramen enthusiasts!

Silverlake is a wholesome and easygoing Japanese restaurant that serves comforting bites such as crispy karaage chicken, beautifully seasoned ramen, and much more. I love bringing friends and family to have a great lunch/dinner out and to walk around the area after. Flavorful broth from the Shoyu on Fire, just make sure to choose a spice level you can handle (2-3 is great for most I'd assume)! Their ramen and side deal for 20$ is amazing if you want to get filled up. Definitely recommend extra protein if you can eat a lot. Great vibes and amazing staff that guide you through the self-order process but still keep an eye on you during service.

Ordering was easy as the options were straightforward and through the kiosk. There were a lot of options for extra toppings and the selection of ramen was small but had all the important and common ones. They had a ramen and side combo that I think is a solid deal and could save a few bucks while being able to try two things. Food came out pretty fast and in good portions! I love the noodle type and think the soup is actually one of the best I've had in Tempe ramen places. Would recommend it! Staff was friendly when asked for extra napkins and the place was quite big with plenty of seating for eating in. A must get is the chicken Karaage as it was juicy and crispy!

1000/10 this place is legit! Please don't pass this place up, I promise they are worth it. Food quality was perfect, the portion was out of this world, and our waitress was great! Food came out quick & hot!

The ramen and karaage chicken were tasty, but the service was incredibly slow. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed, we waited a long time just to place our order, and even longer for the food to arrive. We ended up spending over an hour there, most of it just waiting. While our server was friendly, one of our friends didn't get her food until the rest of us were nearly finished eating. As good as the food was, the experience was frustrating, and it's hard to justify the wait when there are other spots nearby that are just as delicious and far more efficient.

We came here Thursday night and it was half full of diners. Ramen noodles were good. Soup was super creamy and thick. We reheated it for lunch the next day and it was still good. The chicken looks dry but was actually pretty good. We also had brocolini, edamame and karaage, all of which were also good. You order at a kiosk and they bring the food out

The ramen was just okay- very americanized. I've never seen avocado in ramen, and it was quite strange. Not too much depth of flavor for the broth. The second time I went they were out of vegetarian broth entirely and the only other vegetarian option they had was mushroom curry, which I couldn't eat due to a very mild mushroom allergy. I was able to try a few bites and wasn't impressed. Flavorless, raw tofu is a no. Very disappointing. The chefs clearly dont care about the quality of the vegetarian meals. The interior is kind of cool, and the servers were nice and apologetic, but there really wasn't much to be done about the food situation. Ramen Kagawa downtown Phoenix is infinitely better.

I ate here on 3/1/2026 and I will NEVER COME BACK HERE

Where is the 0 star option because I am giving 0 not 1. Customer service does not exist in this place anymore. I order Ramen and churros. The churros arrived room temperature so I told the waitress, Staff 1, these are not hot. Staff 1 said they should be hot so I touch it in front of her. They are absolutely not hot. Staff 1 said she will see what they can do and took it with her. Staff 2 (different person) came with churros. I touched it in front of her and they were again room temperature. Staff 2 offered a refund. Not hot fried food is a deal breaker for me so I said yes to the refund. Staff 2 took the churros away. Then Staff 1 comes with 3rd churro plate. I touched this in front of her and again they are room temperature. I told Staff 1 you guys are bringing out churros that are not cooked to order so I am done. I just want a refund. I don't want to talk to you, Staff 1, about churros anymore. Staff 1 says she can't give me a refund (although it is their fault they can't produce cook to order churros). I told her Staff 2 already offered me a refund. Staff 1 said she is above Staff 2 so I won't be getting a refund. So I went inside the restaurant to find Staff 2. Staff 2 said she will give me a refund. 5 mins goes by and I went back inside to see if I got my refund or not. I went all the way to back, right in front of the kitchen. Looks like they did give me a refund. I asked for managers name, manager's direct email and direct phone number. What they wrote down for me the store's email and phone number. I found out the store manager's name is Rob. I asked Staff 1 for her name and she refused to give me her name. Staff 1 just smirked at me. So this is part of their coverup. Won't give me their name. Won't give me Rob's direct email or phone number. While this is going on, a door dash guy, who was waiting for over 5 mins, walked over to where I am with the 2 female staff (near the back). He said, "I've been waiting for over 5 mins, am I supposed to keep waiting up in the front or came someone help me?" Staff 2 who was nice to me, yelled at him, "Can't you see we are busy!" She didn't yell at me so I was taken aback. Door dash guy asked again, "Am I supposed to wait in the front or can you help me?" Staff 2 didn't calm down and yelled again, "You customers always want something. Can't you see we are busy?" There was only 1 table with customer seated inside the restaurant. I was seated outside. Staff 2 got louder, "Are you here to pick up? Why can't you answer me?" Door Dash guy gave the name for the pick up order. Staff 2 handed the order. Door Dash guy said in same calm tone, "The order was ready for pick up the entire time." Staff 2 got even louder and yelled more things. Looked like she wanted to attack him. I was a bystander and I was completely in shock. I said to Staff 2, "You need to stop. This is inappropriate. He didn't do anything to you." Staff 2 took off her mask, yelled at me and then went into the kitchen. Staff 1 witness everything. I said to her, Staff 2 treated me nice but was very insulting and demeaning to door dash guy who is African American. This is racism." BTW, I am Asian. Door dash guy said to me "Thank you for saying that." Staff 1 said "Staff 2 can't be racist because she is half black." I asked Staff 1 to apologize for his mistreatment because Staff 2 walked away but she refused. The door dash guy and I walked out of the restaurant. 5 mins later, the security guard from the plaza came by and told us that he got call from manager at SilverLake Ramen. He was told we made the staff cry and we are not allowed inside the restaurant. I said no problem because I won't be coming back to eat here. The staff played victim. They got caught behaving badly and cried to their manager that they were wronged. WOW. The food is not made to order anymore. Getting a refund is very difficult if not impossible (read other reviews here about that). You could be insulted by the staff, then they will play victim, and the staff will ask for the shopping complex security to have you removed from the shopping complex. I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN.

When we walked in it had a very fishy smell, so it kind of made us second guess our choice. But we went for it anyhow. The greeter/server was very pleasant and sat us. It was very clean inside with ample space between seat. We browsed through the menu and started with our usual edamame and pot stickers. The edamame was salted well throughout where a lot of places just put the salt on top only. We ordered a couple varieties of sake which were both good. Out of all of the things we ordered the karange skewer was just a little more oily than were use to, but still good. The spicy salmon roll had really great flavor and the lollipop roll was probably one of the better versions that we have had. The musubi was giant to say the least, it was good, but offered a bit too much rice. Overall the food and service was great and we were very happy that we ended up here!

I love Japanese food so my decision was made. I drove over and parked in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (3.5/5): I've been to Japan and there are plenty of izakayas there. Think of them as small bars which often serve solid food. Zu fits that bit. It's a relatively small restaurant, probably seats about 30 people. and it's pretty no frills for a Japanese spot. I was seated at a booth in the corner of the restaurant. They have free WiFi which is always a good touch. Service (3/5): Service was friendly, though a bit inconsistent. My waitress wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. The type of service where you have to flag them down to get what you want and to close out. Drinks (4/5): Zu has a nice menu of Japanese and Korean beverages, including sake, soju, Japanese beer, and more. With that being said, I just had an iced green tea. Food (4/5): I got a nice variety. I went with the Japanese sausage off of the grill menu, the OBI mayo roll off of the sushi menu, and the cheese corn off of the appetizer menu. Let's start with the sausage. It's a small item, two small sausages, but absolutely delicious. The sausage was bursting with flavor and basted in a sweet sauce. Minus the portion size, perfection. The cheese corn also hit the spot, but the execution was off. The corn is served on a hot platter, and unfortunately some of the corn on the edges was badly burnt. The type of situation where they should start over. Which they didn't. Lastly, the OBI mayo roll is essentially a California roll with marinated warm shrimp on top in a mayo sauce. I didn't love the hot and cold combo (shrimp and sushi), but outside of the temperature, it was a delicious roll. All in all, a very food meal. My only gripe with Japanese food is that it can get expensive quick. Given that Zu is in Tempe, I was hoping that prices would be a little cheaper. With that being said, they do have a solid happy hour (and reverse happy hour) with both food and drink specials. Next time I stop by, I'd like to check out some of their Korean options. I focused on the Japanese stuff this time (which makes the majority of the menu). Next time around, the bulgogi is calling my name!

I loved that the sake came in a clear tokkuri. The ramen was soo delicious. I added some chili oil to my broth to give it some spice. The spice is one of those that slowly creeps up on you, but doesn't linger too long. The chashu pork was thin and savory. I usually don't enjoy bean sprouts, but here they were subtle and added a pleasant texture to the ramen. I also love that they included the naruto fish cake. Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. My true rating would be 4.5 due to some of the criticisms I mentioned above, but overall I still had a good experience. Thank you for serving us. Visited 5/2/26

I guess they want you to use your phone to look up the menu but then she brought me a printed menu and a glass of water. I had about a minute to look at the menu before the waitress came back and asked what I wanted. I ordered the small portion of the chicken karaage appetizer and the Nishikawa Black Ramen. Both items came out at about the same time. The chicken was good and there was a lot which somewhat surprised me because I thought they had given me a large portion by mistake. The only downside was that the plate was really small so the chicken kept tumbling onto the table. The ramen was just ok. It came in a really big bowl and there was a lot of broth and toppings but relatively little noodles in comparison. It was more like a bowl of soup. The slice of pork was huge but a little bit chewy when I was expecting it to be tender. The egg wasn't sliced so it was difficult to pick up the entire piece with my chopsticks. The chicken was $7 and the ramen was $18. I would have been ok just getting the chicken, perhaps a large portion for $12. I wouldn't get this particular ramen again. With tax and a tip my total was a little over $31 which isn't the most I've spent at a ramen restaurant, but it wasn't cheap either. I wasn't offered a refill on my drink until after I had paid and was ready to leave. In fact, I only saw the waitress once after my food was brought out, and that was when she brought me the bill. The rest of the time she was somewhere in the kitchen.
