Silverlake Ramen is a great fast casual ramen place near ASU. They used to have servers per other reviews but now have kiosks to order from up front, and I'm totally fine with that. They still bring out food, drinks, and check on tables so there is service provided. Everything was quick and most of all tasty! Both of our ramens were medium spicy which can be modulated since the spicy paste is on the side and added to the broth. Overall both ramen bowls were delicious and with plenty of toppings included. One broth was clear, other was creamy and noodles had good texture. The noodle type isn't my exact favorite type of ramen but I still enjoyed it. I prefer a thicker ramen noodle. I still ate the whole damn thing lol. The chicken bun was very good although not spicy. I liked it-- chicken was nice and crispy and the bun was super soft & pillowy. The shrimp tempura hand roll was solid. No complaints. Tbh, I liked the food more than I expected to. Which is always nice when that happens. Been wanting to try here for a while so I was excited since we were close. Came here for lunch, ordered extra spicy shoyu on fire and friend ordered the lunch special with shoyu ramen, chicken karaage, and edamame. Interesting concept of order, pay, take number and sit. It will be interesting to see how that works when it's busy. Food cane pretty quick, and my ramen presentation was nice. Mixed the extra chilli and broth had little kick but not extra spicy. Ramen noodle was pretty tasty and chewy. Portion could have been little bit bigger but not too bad. Edamame was same ole same ole nothing out of the ordinary. Chicken karaage was bit disappointing, portion was pretty good but then chicken was soggy and didn't care for all the sweet sauce that was on it. My friend complained that her shoyu ramen was very salty. So I tasted the broth and it was little on the salty side. Over all food was not bad but I had a higher expectation. You are greeted with a self-serve kiosk and then you can take your table number with you to seat yourself. The menu is simple. I'm surprised they don't have more, but there's still a great variety to choose from. The space has ample seating and is very clean. Your order comes out pretty quickly! The servers are nice and the $20 combo deal is well worth in my opinion. You get to choose a bowl of ramen and an appetizer for that price. Fried Gyoza: savory and crunchy with the perfect dip to top it off. Shoyu Ramen: Well done egg and comforting warm broth. Love the ratio of broth to noodles. The pork is perfect in proportion and tender bite. Pork Bun: the cutest bun with a piece of marinated pork inside. Pretty good app! I'm not sure if they make smaller pork buns for the combo because if you order a fried gyoza with the combo, it comes with 4 pieces instead of 6. Either way it was worth it as part of the combo. We made a last minute decision to eat at Silverlake prior to a comedy show and were glad that we opted for it! With ample seating inside and a self serve kiosk to take orders, the initial experience was quick and easy. The menu offers a wide variety from the obvious ramen, to rolls, rice bowls, and a range of appetizers (baos!) We were happy to see vegetarian options available. This is what we ordered: Impossible Bun: impossible katsu patty, shredded cabbage, hot mustard, and katsu sauce. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would if I'm being honest! The patty was perfectly fried and there was a nice blend of textures/flavors. Would order again! 10/10 Veggie Ramen: miso base, mixed veggies and greens, corn, tofu, mushroom, avocado, fried broccolini, bean sprouts, and black pepper. The flavor was good. It was an interesting mix of toppings (could have done without the lettuce). Noodles were good. The broth could have been hotter, but we were in a time crunch. Stopped into Silverlake Ramen before a comedy show @ Tempe Improv. Restaurant is super clean and modern. You order at a kiosk and seat yourself. We ordered 2 combos which is a ramen bowl with an appetizer. I had the fried gyoza that came with spicy mayo. Really flavorful and the mayo packed a good amount of heat. For my bowl I chose the classic w/ chicken and added bean sprouts, fresh garlic and an egg. The broth was delicious and not overly salty. Ingredients were super fresh and our food came out quickly. 2nd time coming to Silverlake Ramen in Tempe. 1st time was in February and 2nd time yesterday. I knocking off one star because they took the Happy Hour menu and I feel that the server could have done a better job comparing the large vs. small bowl. However, the food was good. Loved the ramen when I got it in Feb. The chicken karaage was just okay, and I honestly thought the bowl would be a bit bigger. My friend got the dumplings, which were nothing special, but it's still good. My other friend got the Truffle Garlic ramen which she loved. The pork bun was delish! I'd get that again. The place is more of a family-friendly, chill ramen spot. Spacious eating area, so you won't really have to wait long for a table. If you like getting appetizers, do the ramen combo. It is so genuinely baffling how difficult it is to ruin a delivery order but this silverlake location just happens to know how to ruin an experience. I ordered via uber eats and had my driver deliver this to me. Despite ordering with utensils, my order didn't come with a single one. How does that make any sense when I ordered RAMEN?????? To make it even better, they didn't properly secure the bag. The poor driver had ramen broth leaking in her car and all throughout the bag, so much so that when she finally came up to deliver it to me IT FELL ON THE FLOOR AND I HAD NO BROTH WHATSOEVER. SO THANKS. Not only did I wait nearly 80 minutes for this to be made and delivered to me, but by the time it physically arrived the broth had leaked all the way through the bag that it broke the bag and spilled all of its contents on the floor. Silverlake is a wholesome and easygoing Japanese restaurant that serves comforting bites such as crispy karaage chicken, beautifully seasoned ramen, and much more. I love bringing friends and family to have a great lunch/dinner out and to walk around the area after. Flavorful broth from the Shoyu on Fire, just make sure to choose a spice level you can handle (2-3 is great for most I'd assume)! Ordering was easy as the options were straightforward and through the kiosk. There were a lot of options for extra toppings and the selection of ramen was small but had all the important and common ones. They had a ramen and side combo that I think is a solid deal and could save a few bucks while being able to try two things. Food came out pretty fast and in good portions! While getting ready to check out a broadway show at ASU Gammage, was looking for a casual bite option beforehand. Silverlake Ramen popped up and is about 5. minutes or so from the theatre. It's a casual spot located in the large shopping plaza near ASU campus. It's definitely a busy lot between Trader Joe's and other numerous restaurants and shops. They have quite a bit of parking, but definitely don't park in any reserve spots, as they will sticker/ticket you are and promptly at that! Silverlake Ramen is tucked in the corner and has a modern vibe to it. They were not too busy, so we were seated promptly. They have a solid happy hour with a few various appetizers on them. As well as the rest of their menu lineup featuring ramen, soupless ramen (noddles?) and other tasty bites. We got the Garlic Truffle Ramen with pork, a pork bao bun, a spicy chicken bao bun, a spicy tuna hand roll and an order of the chicken karaage. Everything was really good, the chicken karaage being standout and super flavorful. The buns were good and the spicy chicken definitely had a good kick. We enjoyed the ramen and it had a generous portion of noodles, mushrooms and other toppings. Overall, it was quite delicious - nothing out of this world, but all good - and a pretty good value being all under $50 including tip at time of review. The service was solid and I definitely would check them out again! Especially for their Ramen + bun combo, though limited to a few ramen options and not the truffle one we had. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed, we waited a long time just to place our order, and even longer for the food to arrive. We ended up spending over an hour there, most of it just waiting. While our server was friendly, one of our friends didn't get her food until the rest of us were nearly finished eating. The second time I went they were out of vegetarian broth entirely and the only other vegetarian option they had was mushroom curry, which I couldn't eat due to a very mild mushroom allergy. I was able to try a few bites and wasn't impressed. Flavorless, raw tofu is a no. Very disappointing. The chefs clearly dont care about the quality of the vegetarian meals. The interior is kind of cool, and the servers were nice and apologetic, but there really wasn't much to be done about the food situation. They were quick and efficient and kept my husband and I's waters filled and checked in on us the right amount of times. I really liked that they had a combo option, so that you could try a small appetizer along with a noodle dish. I went with the Classic Tonkotsu + Chicken Karaage combo. I had passed this place numerous times and for some reason thought it was a tiny counter service place. I was surprised that we were seated by a hostess and brought menus. This place has a great contemporary sleek style. There's a collection of themed skateboards on one wall with neon lights highlighting two of the other walls. There is a long underlit bar, all we didn't were anything to drink. There's quite a large variety on the menu. Of course, ramen is the main thing - - with both creamy and regular broth. We ordered the Shoyu Ramen with chicken, spicy tuna crispy rice with avocado and jalapeno, a spicy tuna sushi roll, and grilled gyoza. Everything was delicious, and we left stuffed. The broth and noodles/ingredients were packaged separately. Kale in ramen is unexpected, but it worked and soaked up the broth. The mushrooms were nicely seasoned. I have been looking forward to having Islverlake Ramen here in AZ. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, and it was fabulous overall. The broth is flavorful and has a nice depth to it. I like what is included in the noodles (bean sprouts, spinach, seaweed, pork and egg). My only criticism is the pork. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it can be on the soggy, mushy side. I also like for $20, I got an appetizer and a ramen. For my app, I like the pork bun and I personally like it without the sauce. The chicken karrage is also a good option. If you've only been exposed to ramen in Arizona, this place is pretty good. If you've had ramen in big cities like LA or in Japan, this place is average. There was a lot of hype around this ramen spot and we were a bit disappointed. Overall, I'm glad there is another ramen option in the area - we had nothing like this when I was in college! :P We ordered the ramen combo with karaage & tsukemen. The tsukemen was actually quite good - I like thick ramen noodles more and the broth was fishy and flavorful. A bit too fishy for my husband though. The karaage was fine but wished it was crispier. A little bummed they're sold out in the naruto promotion being shown all over on Instagram. Seeing as it is a Naruto first ever collab in the US as it claims. No substitutions or anything else being offered. The naruto promotion is supposed to be going on until July and they don't know when they'll get stuff back in stock.
