We've been here a couple of times and each time was good. Plenty of parking so don't worry about that. There was a few minutes wait to be seated but this place got packed fast both times we came here even at abnormal times like 3pm on a Friday. Inside was clean and looked super busy with all the tables populated. Anyways, we got the combo both times where you pick your ramen and one side for $20. We ordered the Classic with an extra pork chasu and an extra egg with karaage, the Blaze with a pork bun, the Shoyu with gyoza, the Shoyu On Fire and a spicy tuna roll. The Classic was good and the extra pork chasu and extra egg were much needed. The Blaze is a little bit spicy but good. The karaage and pork bun were not bad. The Shoyu was good, the Shoyu On Fire was the same but spicy, the Gyoza was okay, and the spicy tuna roll was not bad. I would recommend any of those as they were good overall to me. Oh my goodness, this place is really good! A friend took me here for a soft opening, and it was worth the drive from Gilbert. They have a nice menu selection. We absolutely loved this place! The inside was super clean and the staff was very nice. The decor is pretty. I like how there's a 360 view of the restaurant no matter where you sit. We ordered the Chicken Karaage, Garlic Truffle Ramen, Classic Ramen, Shrimp Tempura Roll and Gyoza. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. My husband is a huge ramen eater. Me, not so much. Surprisingly good ramen in Tempe, and to be honest, there's not a lot of good ramen places in the Valley! This is a new ramen place on Rural and East University, located right next to Matcha Maiko. There's also a Trader Joes and Cane's in the same plaza, so the parking lot can get kind of busy, though you will still be able to find parking. It was pretty easy to get seated at around 12PM on the weekend, and service was friendly. The design of the store is kind of interesting, with Fram oil filter cans used as some of the lampshades, skateboard decks on one wall, a bike on another, etc. Not personally my taste, but I'm not an interior designer by any means! I ordered the tonkotsu classic ramen, which came out in a reasonable amount of time. The broth was creamy and tasty, and the egg yolk was cooked to a nice, jelly-like consistency. The pork belly was a bit too fatty for my tastes, but it was pretty juicy. I had some karaage as well, which tasted ok, but the pieces were very small for the price. I also had a spicy tuna roll, which was kind of disappointing as the fish was room temperature. My overall critique of the menu is that the food is quite pricey for the portion sizes ($17 for a bowl of ramen, $8-12 for small pieces of karaage). Given my experience, I would mainly recommend the ramen, and I would def come back to try the other flavors in the future! read more

All 3 of us got the Garlic Truffle Ramen with different toppings (A blend of creamy pork and vegetable broth, garlic, truffle oil, kale, mushrooms, black pepper, seaweed and seasoned egg. We were seated close to the open kitchen. I kept looking and finally a server/manager came over to check. Then she followed up with our server and the kitchen to get the food out! The Karage was okayish. The pieces of the chicken were too big, the crispy tuna was okay too. We have had better! Next the ramen, it was too creamy for our taste, and the noodles were not cooked through. Not the authentic tonkatsu broth. It was too thick! The portion was good enough though. After visiting the location in Irvine I was so excited to hear we had one closer to home. Recently my family and I went to the new Tempe location. Overall we all really enjoyed our food. We got a little bit of everything - chicken karaage, spicy garlic edamame, sushi, and several types of ramen. The black truffle ramen was a huge hit with my family. The service was top notch - our drinks never even got to half way empty. My only complaint was that they did not have hot chili oil and the Irvine location does. I tried the vegetarian option and with the first bite had instant regret. The flavor profile was really odd and pretty bland. This was disappointing bc of all the great reviews I saw. There is nothing more exciting than a new ramen restaurant opening in the area. The restaurant is located in Tempe, near ASU, in a very busy strip mall. To be honest, the parking is an absolute nightmare. The plaza the restaurant is in is incredibly busy and even though the parking lot is big, you probably won't find anywhere close by and some of the drivers are a little scary. I visited on a weekday night and wow, was it packed. I was lucky to snag an open bar spot as someone was leaving but it would have been a 20 min wait for a party of 2 otherwise. Our waitress was so kind and attentive our entire visit. I got a few things to start- the pork bun, spicy tuna rice, and karaage. The pork bun was pretty good and the distinct onion flavor was nice. The karaage was really well done and the sauce was incredible. I was very disappointed in the spicy tuna. The rice was WAY over cooked, almost like it got burnt. It was so hard. Now for the most important part, the ramen. I got the classsic tonkotsu and my husband got the spicy version. I wanted to try out their chicken as my protein. I have very conflicting feelings about what I tried. While the broth was really delicious, deep and creamy, it didn't seem like anything special. The noodles seemed pretty firm and the chicken was bland. I decided to take my ramen to go and after a night of rest, it was so much better. I LOVED it as left overs. Just finished a show at ASU Gammage and was craving ramen. Seen this new spot open up recently so we decided to check it out on a Sunday. A bit busy when we checked in but got seated within 10 minutes. Make sure to check in with the host, they'll send you a text when your seat is ready. We got the chicken karaage which was by far the best in the Tempe area. The aioli sauce was just perfect! Even though it's an appetizer, this could be a meal in itself. Big crispy chunks of chicken. Delicious! I got the Blaze ramen with medium hotness. The perfect heat for me! I appreciated the thicccck piece of pork. The broth has a savory, creamy taste. The noodles were perfect! The best tonkotsu ramen I've had so far in the valley. Although it is not Ichiran, the tonkotsu broth is rich, creamy, and not too salty. If you want your tonkotsu spicy, you can order the Blaze instead of the Classic, which allows you to pick the spice level. The chashu is thicker than traditional chashu but it is great and perfectly smoky. We also loved the juicy grilled gyoza - not many places want to pan-fry their gyoza but Silverlake does! The Gyoza was scrumptious and the spicy creamy dipping sauce was a nice twist on the standard ponzu style dipping sauce you'd normally expect. I ordered the Blaze Ramen (Extra Spicy...because that was the next step up from medium and it was perfect). The broth was so full of flavor and had a nice creaminess to it, but it was not heavy at all. The standard Pork Chasu portion was ample and cooked perfectly! Waited 2 hours for my birthday dinner here after the yelp waitlist said it would be a 45 minute wait. I really wanted to try this place for my birthday so me and my boyfriend decided to wait. I found out about this place from a friend of mine and Hubs and I decided to check them out. The wait was crazy long so I would suggest checking the wait list on Yelp to see what their wait times are. I love that they had a wait list that you can join on Yelp because then we were able to just chill in our car until we knew it was time to go for our table. We went on a weekend day. Once we got inside we sat at the bar. I like the ambiance it's modern and sleek nothing too crazy. We decided to get the pot stickers and the chicken karage which were both really good. But that chicken was so crunchy and juicy and well seasoned that I am still thinking about it. My husband and I both got the Tonkatsu Ramen And all I can say is wow. The broth was rich and it had such a nice mouthfeel. It tasted great You didn't need to add anything to the bras. The noodles were nice and tender but still had an al dente feel to them. Everything was balanced in that bowl of soup. My husband and I just kept eating our soup and looking at each other and happiness. We both love Ramen so much. Boy, was I surprised. I was very pleasantly surprised! This has got to be one of the most enjoyable Japanese Noodle joints I've had in ages. Especially in the Valley. Many just call Ramen noodles. For some reason, America is most infatuated with Ramen, and I'm not complaining mind you. I think that's an unfair nomenclature for there is at least seven best known Asian inspired 'noodles'. They are Shirataki, Soba, Hiyamugi, Udon, Harusame, Tokoroten and then there's Ramen. I am glad for Ramen's migration to Japan from China during the Heian period, so we can enjoy the flavors, seasonings and styles Nippon has favored us with. We just don't get enough offerings from the others to enjoy. That being said, as a Ramen house, Silver Lake is doing a magnificent job! The pleasant and modest establishment is set up pretty much in a communal, social and congenial aesthetics approach. You almost feel like you are in an outdoor, street food environment with its assimilated ambience. As for the food, Wow! A bunch of the family got together with the birthday girl's choice of location. Silver Lake. Because of our large sized group, almost everyone was able to try from many appetizers and mains placed before us. The layout included Sapporo and Asahi to Sake Bombs, from delectable Shrimp Tempura Cut Rolls to their fabulous Combo Classics, from the scrumptious Pork Bun and Soboro Bowl to exquisite California Cut Rolls, an out of this world Garlic Truffle Chicken and Spicey Tuna Cut Roll to Chicken Karaage and my Pork Tsukemen (incredible), and the Pork Blaze Combo is what dreams are made of. One outstanding item, the Creamy Broccolini, is hard to describe as the most fab broccolini I have ever devoured. Overall, this is must for Ramen - not to mention the sides and add-ons. I have yet to find anything equitable yet in the Valley. So, if you are a fan of Ramen, who isn't, you're looking for quality, expect the traditional and authentic flavors and preparation, then this is the place for you. The karaage was very good though, and the pieces were a good size (read: actual meat, and they didn't give me a piece that was just deep fried batter). I got their tsukemen, and that was really good as well. I ended up having leftovers that could easily make another meal. They have a combo deal where you can pick from a select list of ramen and it includes a select list of appetizers as well.
