Delicious food, calm atmosphere, and great service. It was my first time trying Jin Shabu, but the experience was wonderful and I can't wait to visit again. They offer a sort of cook-it-yourself experience where you order up to two kinds of broths, and they bring them to you in a large pot that goes over your tabletop grill. You receive meats from your server, and have access to a self-serve bar of vegetables, noodles, seafood, and spices. Because it is so customizable you can really experiment with flavors and come up with some delightful combinations. I was a big fan of the brisket and octopus in the spicy broth, and my fiancée enjoyed the pork belly in the sweet broth. Both pots also complemented each other quite well! My favorite part of the ambiance was the privacy curtains. Because tables are all next to each other I imagine it would be easy to see what other diners are doing, but the curtains add a sense of privacy that made us feel like we were almost dining alone. Our service was also excellent. We had several people working in the restaurant come by during the meal to make sure we had all the broth, water, and meats that we wanted. Definitely try Jin Shabu! A couple of days ago, I complained about Jin Shabu overcharging my wife and I for our lunch. I am happy to report that their GM, Daniel, had restored my faith in retail restaurants. He contacted me and researched my complaint. He acknowledged their error and has offered to not only refund the overcharge, but will also comp our entire meal. That is very generous and gracious on his part. Like I said previously, their food and service is very good, and this concession on Daniel's part is most appreciated and professional! read more

This place is great for hot pot! We always get the soy based soup and it's delicious - it's great that it's not too salty. They have a pretty good option for noodles, vegetables, and meat. The vibe there is nice - music isn't too loud and the service has been nice every time we go there. Parking can be a pain sometimes if going during peak hours. read more

It has all the essentials like mushrooms and dumplings. Even whole raw eggs. There were 5 of us. I will say what I found was disappointing and undisclosed is that the hostess offered two burners but said it was an 18% auto gratuity. Nowhere on their menu or website does it say that. It only says that for 6+ party size. Not because you wanted two burners! I mentioned that and she was just like yeah but for two burners it's 18. Ummm where does it say that sis? The ambiance is fine and we all had a good time. I'm a bit disappointed that on the menu on the website it offers CASS as a beer choice but they didn't have it anymore and only had Terra an Asahi. They are pretty pricey. I do like their soups for the fun of doing shabu although I could do it at home for less. I enjoy the hot steaming pot of soup and swishing the sliced meat inside. I usually get impatient and I just dump a bunch of the sliced meat at the bottom of the pan and load the top up with vegetables. I like doing the same at home with a hot pot of chicken or beef stock. I like the thinly sliced cuts of meat and making my own dipping sauce. I usually have the white stalky mushrooms or the Chinese cabbage. Mostly self serve, but you ask the staff for more thinly skiced meat and water or other beverages. They take away the empty raw meat trays. They can get really busy and packed with people, especially during the winter or cooler months. read more

The broth heats up with two burners controlled by the sever. In the middle they have rice, noodles, and veggies to cook with your items. Everything was good my only complaint is that I enjoyed eating with my friends but would've preferred separate sections to cook our items. My friend wanted to cook her veggies but it's just mixed in with everything. So you don't really know whose is whose. Also she doesn't like pork so she only used the one spicy broth. I have clearly taught my kids to love Asian culture and food. They both requested to go to this place for a family dinner. Shabu shabu is basically various flavors of broth to cook your chosen selection of meats. They provide a bar of self-serve accompaniments like veggies, proteins such as tofu, rice and other sauces like ponzu or peanut sauce. I highly recommend this since it's a nice interactive way to eat with the family. Careful if you have young children since the hot pot is on the table. You can choose from a variety of meat options such as chicken, pork belly, beef belly, chuck beef in finely sliced portions so they cook quickly in the broth. Do not get the seafood. It is mushy and just horrible. If you're going to have seafood make it good seafood not old almost inedible shrimp and crab. The rest of seafood was just okay. We went for AYCE lunch. It's a big place with plenty of tables. I like the curtains between each table, makes it feel private. The waitress was really nice. We got the 2 brisket and eye roll only because if you don't eat every meat you order they charge you for what's left so we were pacing ourselves. And it was plenty, probably could have started out with 3 servings instead. There was of course other meats we could have asked for included in the price like chicken or beef belly but it would have been too much. We also got a bunch of veggies from the buffet. I love mushrooms so loaded my plate up with that. I wasn't crazy about the fish and shrimp cakes, they tasted super super fishy. Also mushrooms were fresh except the shiitake were dried which made them very chewy when cooked. The broths were flavorful but not overpowering. And it was so easy to cook your own food! Came to Arizona for a basketball tournament. Jin Shabu was on our list of eats because my son and husband had come here previously when travelling for bball. They really liked it and wanted to go again. We got here around 7 on a Friday evening. The 3 of us got seated right away. The process of ordering was very quick. The little buffet of noodles, veggies and sauce was loaded with a lot of good stuff. The meat was quality, our favorites were the brisket and wagyu. We got the tonkotsu and original soup base, they were mild in flavor but very good. Service was friendly and efficient and the restaurant had a good amount of seating. The only negative was the bathroom. I won't post pictures but it was DISGUSTING. There was no toilet paper and there was trash all over the floors. They can do a split broth so we chose for Tonkotsu and Spicy Katsuobushi. Both broths were delicious and not overpowering. Subtle flavor and the spicy wasn't overbearing. This place is an AYCE and has two options: Premium (5 meat option) and Deluxe (7 meat option). The price per person is $36.99 and $39.99, respectively. They have a mini sauce bar and area to grab your toppings for your hot pot. This ranges from vegetables, noodles, and seafood. I wish they added enoki mushrooms to make it even more perfect! The service was fast and plenty of time to dine in and enjoy your meal. A nice addition that separates this place from other AYCE places is their special "Beef Belly Hinoki Box". This is so delicious! The meat is very tender, soft, and melts in your mouth. It is plated on top of a bed of bean sprouts and steamed over your broth. I enjoyed my dinner here. Accidentally brought the rain from Seattle with me so having some warm soup was so nice. It's an ayce shabu place. We don't have that back in Seattle to my knowledge so I was pretty excited to have some Asian food haha. You order the meats and seafood, noodles and such are in a little buffet area. My friend ordered the original broth and miso. I loaded up my plate with veggies and tons of seafood. The beef belly box was so yummy! Definitely get that when you're here. Hello my food eaters, here's another one to try and give your feedback, it was lunch for us today my wife Jen and friend Lexie, this has been our second trip and again was very happy with our selection for lunch, the restaurant is very nice with plenty of seating for small or large groups, the ambiance was nice for a lunch time dinning. we were seating with in 5 minutes, service was excellent and everything was explained on what to do. We made our way to the island bar with all the goodie's to choose from and started building our ingredients for the soup base, remember for the price your paying you can make as many trips for the goodie's and ask for additional meats. My grandma was visiting Arizona and requested a restaurant that she doesn't have in North Carolina. My husband and I found Jin Shabu on Yelp and it was highly recommended. We were seated right away and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to get us set up and off to our devices within minutes. Each table has a hot pot that can be 1 or 2 broths. The cold table in the middle of the restaurant has every vegetable & side dish imaginable. Love coming to Jin Shabu. Easily my favorite hot pot spot in east valley. Most recently I came on a Sunday evening and had to wait about an hour with a party of 5. They only have like 2 tables for larger parties but the hostess allowed us to sit at 2 tables side by side if we would like to not have to wait for those which was very nice of her. They have great soup broths - really love the new Mala one, but everything in this place is well organized and kept. There's an AYCE area in the middle with your veggies and seafood options. Not as many options as some AYCE places I've been in like Cali, but a good amount. Plenty of choices to make your own sauce as well. I tried the lunch buffet at Jin Shabu and it was ok but could've been better. I went with one friend and wished I went with more because we ordered 3 types of meat and they gave us so much of it, we couldn't eat enough to try the rest of what they served. Maybe they would do half portions of meat if we asked but I didn't know they would bring that much. The broths we tried were ok, the sauces I mixed were good. We didn't get the special "free" box because we thought they would just bring it and by the time we could ask for it, we were full. We did ask for the free shaved ice (they don't tell you this is included either as far as I could tell, I found out by eavesdropping on another table lol). This is our favorite restaurant in Arizona. We have never had a bad meal here. The only con to the restaurant is that they can get super busy so we always eat very early to avoid long waits. We arrived a tad bit later than usual so we were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. It is an all you can eat Shabu Shabu restaurant so I wore my slacks with an elastic waistband. Lol . If anyone is not familiar with Shabu Shabu it is a Japanese hotpot meal where you choose the kind of broth you want to cook in. Then you cook assorted super thin meats, seafood and vegetables in the boiling broth and dip in either Ponzu or a Sesame Sauce. At this restaurant they have a self serve bar for the vegetables, kimchi, noodles and sauces. Then the server brings the meats as you order them. The meat is shaved paper thin so it cooks in a few seconds and is melt in your mouth tender. This is the first time that there was a little gristle in one of the cuts of meat. I think it was just a fluke. If there was a 4.5 star rating I might have taken off half a star for that but with the great service and the perfect history I can give five stars with certainty. The dinner includes Bingsu for dessert. It is a Korean shaved ice with sweet red beans, condensed milk and mochi. It is a Japanese style restaurant that is Korean owned. I will frequent this restaurant every time I am in Arizona. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more
