It's called Makoto Sushi now. I love this group of restaurants and ate at their affiliate on 48th and Elliot Rd. Last week. The food here is outstanding and Lunch is only 21 dollars. The ice cream is even really good. Their out of control roll is out of control. The fried Scallops are perfect and their Tempura veggies are delicious with the Yam as my fave vegetable. And the staff is so nice and accommodating You just can't go wrong here. read more

Just so you know this place changed their name to Makoto Terrible business practice. You are forced to have your entire party do all you can eat or not at all. For example we were a party of 4 and 3 of us wanted all you can eat and one did not want sushi and they told them they could not or we could not. So 3 of us are willing to spend $31 per person and were told no cause they are afraid one person might get some. Will never come back to this shady greedy place. It is a decent place, but nothing special. The salmon and white tuna nigiri is always good. However, the fish comes out very room temperature warm which gives me the ick. The nigiris comes out with a lot of rice which makes you full easier from just a few of them. I only have been to their lunch time. Lunch menu pricing is about $20ish which is nice, but the items are ok. Some of my favorite items are the sweet potato and onion tempura, crazy volcano roll, and the matcha ice cream dessert. Stumbles onto this place after a long day of travel! The building can be deceiving but when you walk into Sakura, what a beautiful sight. First, the people were delightful. Ordering was easy and the food came out so quick! Of course, it's an all you can eat so we ordered a variety of things. All delicious! My favorite was the sashimi, which was so fresh. This place is tucked away at the end of a strip mall with Target. There's plenty of parking. At lunchtime it's $19.99 all you can eat (in 2 hours). Lots of booths for parties of 4-6 and some table that can be pushed together to accommodate larger groups. The dining area is clean with numerous TVs to watch while you eat. Xia was our server. He took great care of us while we dined! It was fairly busy (maybe 75% full) but the service and food were top notch! My favorites were the Las Vegas and Out of Control rolls. I didn't pay any attention to the all-you-can eat part and gleefully drove there with partner for date night. We decided to give it a go anyway and made our outing a culinary adventure, neither of us having supped at an all-you-can eat sushi restaurant. The staff were nice and spared little time in serving up our order. We started with Miso soup that was watery. The gyozo was dry and presented poorly. We ordered a variety of nigiri sushi and, whilst it filled the hole, it wasn't anything to write home about. The green tea ice cream was tasty. Before closing this review allow me to share that I'm a quarter Japanese, speak Japanese and lived in that beautiful country for 6 lovely years. Shushi was good, ordered the all you can eat. Service was unorganized and slow, only got 5 out of the 8 items we ordered. Took 30 minutes for a simple roll to come out. When we went to pay the total was 70.36. We split cash and card, $45 in cash, which left to a total of 25.36. The waitress took my card and came back and said it declined. She tried to pull $35 from my card without informing of tip or service charge. I stated that the left over total should be 25.36 she came back and it was paid. We have become regulars here, dining in every 3 weeks or so. Today, Sunday afternoon, the place was quite busy. Not a problem, immediately seated at spacious booth. I'm pleased to see them busy, meaning quick turnover of fish, especially in the deadly summer! Food arrived quickly, exactly what was ordered, tasting fresh. I have never had an "off" tasting piece of sushi here. After a few 2nd round items , we were satisfied, a cup of green tea ice cream to finish. My rule for this hotter than hell area is...no sushi in summer ! The unknown handling of product is something to be aware of. Been a while since I had last come here. This then we ordered a lot, it's definitely a great value for the price. Service is fast and they don't really delay things and keep checking in on you. The sushi this time, I felt in some of the rolls the portions were slightly lesser or thinner cuts. But however considering the value , it's definitely worth the price. Towards the end I even tried their ice cream. The green tea is an interesting flavor. First time trying, and I really liked it. The pork cutlets is pretty good as well. For an AYCE sushi place, it's an excellent value, the food is good and the service is good. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how they prepare their spicy tuna rolls. I've never seen a spicy tuna roll prepared the way they make it, even at AYCE sushi places, and it's not good. A new family favorite. I have come across Sakura sushi many times while looking for places to dine at in our area but I never knew they had AYCE! The reviews were promising so we tried it, multiple times now. The restaurant is big so it can accommodate a good number of diners at the same time. Service is attentive and food does come out pretty quickly, even when they are busy. We've been there only on weekends so far and only had to wait a bit for our sushi rolls once. We also got seated immediately in all 4 times that we have been there. I do not eat raw sushi (my husband does) so anywhere we go, we order mostly cooked and maybe 1-2 raw rolls. They had multiple great tasting cooked rolls and my husband enjoyed a couple of nigiris and raw fish rolls. They have a lot of appetizers, salads, noodle dishes, rice and soups to choose from. Ambience is average with tvs and it's not too loud even when the restaurant is busy. It's about $30 per person which is a great deal with all the good food you can get. The all you can eat option is awesome . The sushi is prepared a la carte as if you were ordering in a upper Manhattan sushi spot. The options are plentiful and made on the spot . One of the few AYCE with sashimi on the menu without it being at an extra cost or a Premium option. Most of the apps are deep fried. Usually something you'd want after a few drinks in. So take that into account when ordering. The sashimi cuts are a good enough selection. My favorites were the mackerel, white tuna, and salmon from first to third. Not much of a sake drinker but they seem to have about 6-10 options for both dry and fruity types. I tend to just stick to a beer. Restrooms are clean but there's no toilet seat hygiene covers nor paper towels to dry your hands off with. And it's a pull to exit. Like someone else mentioned, rolls are huge in size so it will fill you up quick. So if you want your money's worth stay away from rolls... Rolls were not too bad.. Seems pretty much same thing for most part. Udon and soba noodle soup was pretty good. Tuna was not the best, pretty low quality but the again I was at all you can eat. Over all not bad for all you can eat. If you want just sushi I would say this is not the place at least in my opinion. But if you want varieties of food with sushi this place is not bad.
