I pass by this place daily and finally had time after work to pick up some rolls to go. I have an ongoing craving for California rolls and I was obviously drawn. I ordered a half roll of the Californian roll and spicy tuna roll. My order came out quickly and I was on my way. There is plenty of seating inside and you are asked if you want it to go or for the sitdown area. The menu looks pretty good so maybe once the weather is cool, I can try some other items. Now as for my rolls: pretty good! The spicy tuna roll had a really nice spice to it and it wasn't too spicy. The California roll was standard but did satisfy my craving

    Dining area that's always clean!

Yes, we are regulars and keep coming back Fresh food, always! Great portions! And swift service. This place is always clean and pristine. We've ordered catering multiple times and they deliver with ALL the smiles. Great restaurant guaranteed for lunch, dinner, corporate meals.

    Ramen with added on chicken

Arrived to this restaurant because it was rated 4.5 stars however super disappointed in the food. On the other hand, service was great! I got the ramen with added on chicken. Note, if you just get the regular ramen it just comes with noodles, cabbage, green onions, carrots and broth. After the first bite, the noodles tasted like they were right from the packaged ramen you get from the store. Broth was ok. My main disappointment was the over charred chicken! I hate wasting food, I continued to eat at the over charred areas of the chicken. For an extra $2-3 I wouldn't get the chicken added again. The red dragon roll was probably my favorite roll. The spicy tuna was ok. Restaurant was clean and our food came out fast. I don't think I'll come back again unfortunately.

Grill N Chop has hearty bowls that are perfect for lunch. Plus service is speedy despite the lunch rush. The parking lot has plenty of space and I've never seen it full. Although they do pick up, I found their dine-in experience to be equally as fast. Enter from the left door and the food should be completed within 10 minutes. Besides their selection of rice bowls, sushi and salads, there were Asian canned beverages, churros, and mochi. =ORDERED= *Spicy Tuna Bowl: although I want to try their other bowls, this remained my go to. The avocado slices were always fresh and beautifully cut. Rice cooked well, not too mushy or hard. The spicy tuna had a melt in the mouth quality with subtle spice. The lemon slices served as a palate cleanser as opposed the traditional ginger. *Croquette: satisfying crunchy exterior with a creamy, mashed potato filling. The panko batter wasn't overwhelming and served more as a texture element than flavor. Excellent appetizer although it was on the pricier side. *Caramel Churro: not too greasy and the filling resembled dulce de leche rather than the classic American caramel. Fun dessert option although the portion was on the smaller side. Service has always been stellar and food presentation and packaging remained consistent throughout my multitude of visits. Grill N Chop is great choice for a clean tasting yet tasty lunch option for a reasonable price.

Ramen & Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box

We came here for lunch, and for fast food, it exceeded our expectations! The ramen noodles were cooked a perfect al dente with roasted vegetables in the broth. However, I was surprised that the broth was spicy since it wasn't indicated on the menu. There should be an option for plain broth vs spicy. I picked the chicken bento which came with California rolls, veggies and shrimp tempura which was pretty satiating! The breading on the tempura was a little thicker than what I'm used to. The staff was very friendly and they still allowed us to dine in even though they close for a short break after 2PM. I would love to come back when I'm in the area!

I was in the area this past weekend and looking for something delish. Grill and Chop showed up in the high fours and certainly earned those stars. The dining area was clean, the food was tasty, fresh and well priced. We shared a build your own bento, an appetizer and drink for about $20. On the menu they have sushi rolls, appetizers and rice bowls. The rice, tempura, katsu chicken and sushi were all made fresh and completely delicious. I'd definitely suggest coming for lunch or dinner if you're in the area. Dine in or take away at this fast casual Japanese spot, you won't regret it.

Looking at their (limited) menu, the only dish that was appealing to me is their Shoyo Chicken Ramen Bowl and here's my honest opinion: * I was so disappointed that the chicken are only (3) small pieces, bite size like, which doesn't compliment the bowl overall. Normally, one would think that a lot of chicken mixed with the ramen. * The taste of this bowl was so bland. No seasonings, no flavor whatsoever. It was probably one of the worst tasting foods I had ever eaten to a point where I even tried to add additional seasonings at home to try to enhance some taste. It still didn't taste good and I couldn't even eat it much after a few bites and ended up tossing it. Some pros to note, the staff was nice but somewhat lacking in service. When I came into pick up my online order at the time it was due, they were still another 15-20 minutes late to have my food ready. I'm not sure if this commonly happens but it did for me the night I tried this place. I don't care to return to this restaurant after my less-than experience. I can't say that my review will also be or is your experience but for me, I've moved on. Better luck next time.

An update from 7 months ago--…read more I've been to this Mensho location a few times now, it's actually very close to my house, I could walk there. Maybe when it's not summer I will :) I had previously mentioned I've been to Mensho Ramen in Japan twice and this location seems to be very close to quality and flavors. I've tried different appetizers on each visit here and I always get the Garlic Knock Out ramen bowl because I love garlic, but next time I need to branch out and try the duck matcha bowl, a friend of mine swears by it. It sounds like an odd flavor combo, but I hear it just works. Coming here is pricey, so this isn't my everyday ramen shop, but once in a while I enjoy it. Other reviewers mention not liking the noodle texture, the soup broth thickness, or overall flavors. Some have even questioned its Japanese authenticity. That's most funny to me, given it's very close to the ramen I had at Mensho in actual Japan. So I don't think it's Mensho who is unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine... I don't love all the apps I've had, for instance I would skip the Takoyaki or corn ribs, or $8 edamame. Next time I'd like to try the Aji fry, many people have said that's good. So, it's likely coming down to personal preference. Service has been solid so far. Servers are friendly and food comes out fairly quickly. Anyhoo, I'd still recommend this spot, and bring friends or family. We recently brought a friend who is vegan and she was happy to see vegan based broths and items on the menu. I think the price point makes it hard for some people to enjoy this place, as it costs about double compared to other bowls of ramen in the valley. But I appreciate that they make their noodles in house and the dining space is very authentic to a ramen shop in Japan (small and nice wood decor). It does remind me of being in Tokyo, which I miss dearly. Mensho here is more expensive than Tokyo. Food in the US costs way more in general. I think most folks would be surprised to learn that. But it's true, Japan has the most amazing food scene and they execute everything perfectly yet it's cheaper in many instances. I was blown away by how affordable food was in Japan. IMO that says more about the state of affairs in the US, and less about this specific restaurant. Some reviews have noted poor quality and management, I haven't noticed that yet, and I hope it doesn't happen. So far, I've liked it enough to keep going back every now and again :)

The crispy rice tuna was delicious. The tuna tasted fresh and I like the texture of the chewy crispy rice. Also tried Jinya chicken ramen: the chicken broth was delicious. I tried the Tonkotsu red. It's nice that you get to choose the spicy level from 1 to 10. I got a medium maybe a 5 or 6, which was perfect. The restaurant has a cute atmosphere, the music wasn't too loud, and they even had the FIFA World Cup on the TVs, which made for a fun place to sit and eat. If you order one of the sizzling plates, it comes with a bowl of miso soup. The miso was really good and didn't have that overly fishy flavor that some places have. We also tried the fried pork dumplings, which were pretty standard potstickers, but they were done well. The sweet and sour dipping sauce had just a tiny bit of spice that made it a little more interesting. The pork soup bao were another good choice, with plenty of filling and really good flavor. First, Sizzling House sits around a plethora of amazing food options in the Mesa Asian District. It is a small eatery and very casual. We started with the dumplings and karage. These were where the rating dropped. I didn't find anything memorable about either... My friend ordered the tokontsu ramen with think noodles. I had a taste, and while I'd order it if wanting ramen, this was what I expect of good ramen. It hit the right notes on taste and the noodle s were cooked well, just nothing that would make me perk up if someone wanted to get ramen. The highlight, which would have made this a debate between 4 and 5 stars, and which I will go back for (already excited!), was the sizzling Angus beef plate with thick udon noodles. This was one of the better dishes I have had of late, and I am glad I got extra beef and opted for the black pepper sauce. The thinly sliced beef with the thick udon noodles was a perfect pairing, and I ate this much faster than I meant to, not leaving any leftovers despite the add ons. Food came out quick. Staff was friendly.
