We enjoy sushi at this spot, lunch specials are well served and with multiple options, we visited couple times for dinner at its always fresh and service is great as well!

Las Vegas Roll and Hot Night

What a local gem! this is a must have if you live in Mesa and ALSO if you don't! Worth driving out of the way for. Customer service is amazing and intentional. The food is beyond delicious and the options are endless. The spicy garlic edamame is a must. Gyoza pan fried can never disappoint here! My favorite rolls are hot night, viva Vegas and crunchy garlic roll. The miso soup also leaves me wanting more! The cozy traditional vibe is wonderful and the atmosphere is not overwhelming. Makes it feel like a home away from home. 11/10 recommend!

My fave sushi place!! The staff is super nice, know their regulars, quick service, fresh delicious food big portions and great prices!! It is small and cozy but always have room for you. I have seen them fill up quickly people definitely know about this gem! The other amazing thing that I really appreciate is that they let you order happy hour menu and prices TO GO!!

From to back: salmon sashimi, viva Las Vegas, hot night

Their sushi is well priced for freshness and flavor. The restaurant is on the smaller end; I can see them filling up quickly on the weekends. It seemed clean overall, nothing fancy or upscale. Overall, the food was tasty and came out rather quickly once we ordered. I probably wouldn't dine in on the weekends when I'd expect more traffic, as I'm not confident the service would be very attentive since it already wasn't for a Wednesday evening. They seem to have a happy hour menu, but the start/end times weren't listed nor did the server inform us when we asked if it was happy hour. There are some items listed in the menu that have different prices from the sushi list which is where you'd mark your order. We found when we paid that the price in the menu is what they used (didn't get a chance to ask prior to ordering because the service was spotty). We ordered: - Gyoza - Salmon sashimi - Viva Las Vegas roll - has a good kick from the spicy tuna on top - Hot night roll - also has a good kick of spice - Baked salmon roll Miso soup is complimentary.

We really enjoyed the food here, and I was happy with the large variety of vegetarian options. The prices were reasonable, and I thought the fried rice was hot & fresh. The vegetarian tempura roll was a solid vegetarian roll. It's really cute and quaint inside, and service was quick. The only complaint I had is that we felt rushed out. We paid and were chatting with friends and they cleared the table around us and kept coming back to take the check and ask if "there was anything else..." It was pretty pointed they wanted us to leave even though it wasn't crowded and there was an hour until they closed. Other than that, it would have been a 5 star.

Sekai Sushi: A Hidden Gem That Rolls Deep in Flavor and Feels Sekai Sushi is more than a restaurant--it's our special little sushi sanctuary. Every visit is a sweet memory with my kids, made even more special by the incredible woman who may be the owner. She always remembers us, greets the kids with the warmest smile, brings them chopstick helpers like they're royalty, and treats them like VIPs. That level of kindness? Priceless. Let's talk food. My go-to starter: shrimp tempura--crispy, golden, and comes with 4 pieces (no skimping here!). I always cozy up with a bowl of miso soup, especially when I drop a spoonful of rice in it--so simple, so comforting. My picky eaters? They devour the chicken teriyaki plate, and we always order extra rice. I snag the veggies--perfectly tender and soaked in that savory-sweet teriyaki sauce. And then there's my all-time favorite: the spicy sashimi salad with extra avocado. **please note I requested the extra alvacado~ so do not order it expecting that much green greatness unless you ask!!! It's got kick, crunch, and cool--all in one bite. Warning: you gotta be on team cilantro and onion or this one's not for you! When I splurge a little more, it's 911 rolls all the way--refreshing cucumber-wrapped sushi that packs a flavorful punch. A squeeze of lemon + a hit of wasabi = chef's kiss. Want some fire? Go for the Hot Night Roll. It's got the heat, the flavor, the drama. But let's not forget the real crown jewel: the iced tea. As the self-proclaimed Ice Tea Queen, I don't say this lightly--this tea hits every time. Cold, crisp, and the perfect sip between spicy bites. Happy hour has great prices if you wanna try a variety of things! Whether you're on a date with your littles like I was, flying solo with a book, or just craving quality sushi and peace--you'll find a little magic here. Sekai Sushi, you've got my heart and my chopsticks.

Wow! Not what I expected at all after reading all the positive reviews! We came here around noon and we were the first customers so that was a bit strange I thought. That's never a good sign, right? The server told us about their lunch specials so we decided to go with the spicy tuna roll combo that came with 5 pieces of nigiri: tuna, salmon, white fish, albacore, and shrimp $10.95 and their sashimi combo: 2 pieces of tuna, salmon, and white fish sashimi with 5 pieces of nigiri for $13.95. I thought the prices were so cheap and I realized why as soon as I saw and tasted the food. The fish did not look fresh and none of the fish had any flavor. It seemed they just thawed frozen fish and why the lack of flavor. I was so disappointed as I had such high hopes for this place. This place can also use a remodel as it looks pretty dated. Service was fine, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning:(

The place felt kind of run down, I think they can really use a makeover. I love sushi and sashimi, so I ordered their sashimi combo, which also comes with 5 pieces of nigiri. Well, I was very disappointed with the lack of freshness and flavor. I had high hopes based on the reviews, but my experience with the food was not good. The service was fine, though. Too bad their fish is not fresh nor flavorful.

Chicken yakisoba!
Kira D.

I've been here a few times, but this time, I'm sorry for being THAT girl....2 stars?!?!? Rough, I know, I'm sorry!!! I'm even more sorry I ordered the chicken yakisoba. The dish tasted like someone had it in for me and wanted me to stroke out by adding copious amounts of salt and salty sauce in my yakisoba! This will go down in my history as the saltiest chicken yakisoba! If u like salty yakisobas, Sekai is ur place! I'm gonna stay away from their yakisobas. Service was ok, nothing to rave about. I've also had a few sushi dishes here, and I just can't give them support. If I'm roaming around somewhere and find myself famished, and Sekai was the closest restaurant, I'll bite the bullet and stop in and hope for the best!!

Cherry Blossom Specialty Roll, Yellowtail Nigiri, Salmon Nigiri!
Mike D.

Sekai is a solid sushi option! I have visited Sekai twice now... and from my pictures, I apparently ordered the Cherry Blossom Specialty Roll both times. This last visit, I also enjoyed some of their edamame and a couple orders of Nigiri (yellowtail and salmon). Five stars for the quality and taste of the sushi... although if you're a gluten-free eater like I am, then you should know that a lot of their rolls have tempura. While I'm sure you could order a gluten-free version of the rolls, I always hesitate to request changes for fear of mistakes and ending up suffering from eating gluten. I believe the only appetizer I could eat was the standard edamame because all of the other apps had gluten. I don't like being the reason that the table is stuck with one appetizer option, so it would be nice if they offered some additional gluten-free appetizers. Service could probably be a bit more attentive, but it was a weekend evening and they were busy, so it's not a big deal... as I understand how that works. I'm sure I will be back again! Overall rating: *****FIVE STARS***** Gluten-free rating: ***THREE STARS***

Poke Salad
Jon H.

I was at a Cheer Competition for my daughter and had a couple hours to kill and consulted my Yelp! Bookmark collection of places I want to try and saw this place close by. Everything was fresh and fantastic! I'm a nigiri guy...so I loaded up on Yellow Tail, Salmon, Smoked Salmon, and Tuna. The Poke Salad was great as was the Gyoza. Service was quick and professional. The restaurant was low lite and kinda quiet, but also had TV's playing College Basketball. Loved the mix. This is a great sushi option if you're ever nearby!

Food quality: 8.5/10 Some nit-picks, I had the wagu skewers, one of which was too chewy to eat. I also ordered the set of 5 nigiri, chefs choice, and the quality of these was only medium. Ambiance: 8/10 Very pretty restaurant, comfortable, nice lighting. Cleanliness: 10/10 All of the staff seemed to be very attentive to the cleanliness of the restaurant, going above and beyond. Menu: 9/10 Good selection and variety. Specials and desert were interesting. Service: 6/10 After I explained that one of our wagu skewers was all gristle, too chewy to eat, our waitress said she would alert the chef. I wrongfully assumed she would remove this from the bill. She did not remove it from our bill and did not bring us a new skewer. This skewer was ~20$ by itself. She also did not seem very engaged and did not seem very knowledgeable about the menu. She didn't seem concerned with our experience, considering the cost of our meal. I did not enjoy her attitude. Final notes: We were seated at the sushi bar, what an experience! I would definitely come Again, given I had a different waitress. It is very interesting watching the kitchen and the great care taken to prepare the food. What started as a simple visit has turned into a true appreciation for the craft happening behind the bar. This is not just a place to grab sushi--it's a place where you can slow down, pay attention, and really experience it. I've now been in a couple of times and had the chance to sit at the bar and get to know Misu and Han, along with my server Rose. The hospitality here is genuine and warm without ever feeling forced. By my second visit, they remembered me, asked about what I'd tried before, and guided me through the meal in a way that felt personal and thoughtful. The food speaks for itself. Standouts for me: * The halibut -- incredibly silky, clean, and delicately balanced (one of the best bites I've had in a long time) * The otoro -- beautifully marbled and absolutely melted in the mouth * The king scallop -- lightly kissed with heat, layered with subtle citrus, a luxurious texture and flavour to match... easily one of the most memorable bites I've had anywhere * The saba (mackerel) -- bright, clean, and beautifully presented with that signature shimmering skin; not something everyone appreciates, but done exceptionally well here What really impressed me is the balance. Nothing felt heavy-handed. Sauces, citrus, and wasabi were used with intention--not to cover the fish, but to elevate it. I also appreciated the pacing. Sitting at the bar, taking things a few pieces at a time, and pairing it with a simple bottle of sake turned the entire meal into an experience rather than just dinner. If you're willing to sit at the bar, trust the chefs, and let the meal unfold, Yanagi will absolutely reward you. This has quickly become my neighborhood spot, and I'm looking forward to many more visits. Highly recommended.

The filet was so soft, and was perfectly rare, and the shrimp was so good. I think in the future I'd eat a whole plate of shrimp. I thought maybe it was just the rolls I was trying so then I tried my friends rolls & the tuna had a very weird taste and consistency. As someone who eats spicy tuna rolls any chance I get, I have tried many sushi places and this one was one of the worst spicy tuna rolls . We finished our meals and chatted for a bit. I would say not even 40 minutes had passed since we finished eating when I started to get nauseous. I think the worst part overall was getting sick from eating here. I was sick for about 2 days and couldn't keep food down if you know what I mean. I didn't want to ruin the birthday fun for my friends so I didn't mention how bad of an experience I had. I'd like to mention that my partner got sick from the food as well so it was not just me. I am writing this in the hopes that the Sakura staff make an effort into looking into the way their sushi staff prepare the fish/food.
