Ray and Lynn would be so disappointed if they saw what happened to this place that they worked so hard to build. I remember back in the 80s Aloha Kitchen was the only gig in town and their grindes was supa ono. Their food sucks now. They always over cook the chicken katsu so now they over cooked the bulkogi. The mac salad is a plate lunch staple and they even managed to screw that up so it tasted like crap. I got the fried saimin and that wasn't too bad...I rate it a 2 out of 5. As of today 8.5.26, no manapua available. This may be a blessing in disguise. This place has fallen really far from what they used to be when Ray and Lynn ran it. My wife and I have eaten here several times in the past without major issue, and we keep going back because we generally enjoy it. This past Sunday, Mother's Day 2026, I stopped in around 3:45 to pick up dinner with chicken teriyaki, beef bugolgi, tempura shrimp, white rice, and green salad. It was the only meal of the day that we each ate from the same establishment. After I ordered, I heard the guy cooking complain to the cashier girls up front that it would be awhile, but they didn't repeat the concerns to me, so I didn't pay it any mind. Overnight, Sunday night/ Monday morning, my wife and I both became violently ill. I think maybe that chicken that was gonna take too long to cook, wasn't cooked all the way. It doesn't matter how many times I've eaten here in the past without incident. That was an absolutely terrible experience, and I won't risk it happening again, just because the cook wants to get out of work early. I will never eat here again. read more

Came for a quick dinner, we come when needing a good fix of Hawaiian food and our favorite food truck isn't cooking. Wife order the coconut shrimp plate along with their mac salad and I had the bulkogi plate with mac salad. I also ordered a side of fried won ton. I think overall the quality of the food isn't what it used to be although I will say was good today. My bulgogi had some tough, grisly pieces of beef, which is to be expected due to the cut but I've also had this dish elsewhere and found it to be really tender and juicy...not so much today. The fried won ton or ok but again, I remember them being filled with more filling and thought these were a tad over fried. The coconut shrimp was good and it came with some teriyaki chicken as well. Service is terrible ambience is terrible and what it bothersome is that my family and I have been going there for more than 25 years. We ordered 4 items from the online menu, one of which was the "Kona Brisket Burger", for pickup at their location. After I placed the order, I got a reply that it would be ready between 6:00 & 6:15 PM. When I arrived shortly after 6:00, they couldn't find any record of the order until they checked their Grubhub orders, so "please wait". After waiting another 45 minutes, along with a growing line of other customers, 3 of my items were finally ready, but "we don't serve burgers", regardless of what it says on the menu. I've never seen a place more disorganized or unaware of customers' expectations. Never again! read more

Saw this place on TikTok and heard it was on Tripple D.. that's awesome so I had to give it a try and boy let me tell ya it don't disappoint at all. I had gotten a plate with shrimp and there Mac salad and pineapple and man oh man it was amazing! It's right in Mesa and if I would recommend a restaurant it would be here! Service was solid, told them it was my first time, but didn't get any recommendations or help ordering. Thought it was odd that they asked for a tip at the end after getting no actual help. Came on a Sunday shortly after opening. Their prices on the board reflected their online menu. We only interacted with the young lady at the cashier -- she was a delight, a great example of aloha! She smiled, interacted, and provided us with great customer service. Ambiance is what you would expect -- laid back, unpretentious, and welcoming. This was our second time eating here and our second time getting the same plates. We enjoy the fire grilled taste of the teriyaki and mention it monthly. The sauce is not too sweet. The chicken katsu is juicy and crispy. The bulgoki is not like Korean bulgogi! It's still good, but don't come here expecting that. Hawaii is a melting pot of cultures and while paying homage to the fire grilled beef we all love, this is island style! What I love to do is eat the pineapple over its little compartment so that's where the juices land. Then I put the chili garlic sauce (the one in the packet) and mix it together. SO good with their bulkogi! The manapua was alright. I really enjoyed the tenderness of the pork. Looking forward to future visits! read more

My family and I have been coming to Aloha Kitchen for well over a decade. It's always been one of those places we could count on, which is why writing this is so disappointing. Within the same week, we had two experiences that were completely unlike anything we've ever had here. The first time, they were out of rice, bulgogi beef, pork, and Spam musubi. On top of that, the portion sizes have noticeably decreased. We understood that things happen, and one of the cooks was genuinely apologetic, but it was still frustrating. Then, just three days later, we arrived to pick up a cake we had ordered for my grandmother's funeral. We were shocked to find out that no cake had been made. Even more disappointing, no one called us beforehand to let us know there was an issue. We only found out after arriving to pick it up during an already difficult day for our family. Again, one of the cooks apologized, and we appreciate that. But an apology doesn't undo the stress and disappointment of showing up for something as important as a funeral and discovering the order was never made. I'm not sure if there's new management or something has changed behind the scenes, but this is not the Aloha Kitchen we've known and supported for years. It breaks my heart to leave a review like this because this restaurant has been a family favorite for so long. we've been coming to Aloha Kitchen 36 of the 38 years they've been in business, way back when Ray was the owner! July 30th, 2026 we got 5 meals to go which was never an issue with the quality of food. 3 were mix plate #1, 1 was mix plate #3 and 1 was sweet and sour chicken. the 4 mix plates with the teri chicken was overcooked and dry, not real hot and no teri sauce on the chicken nor the rice even after asking for it.... the sweet and sour chicken barely had any sauce and none on the rice. the only good thing on these dishes was the fish but the tarter sauce is not the same mostly mayo flavor and it use to be delicious . the meals were very disappointing and sadly we will have to think long and hard about coming back. This little hole in the wall has been featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Just because it's a hole in a wall doesn't mean it doesn't have its charm. There are some really nice murals on the wall of the ocean and palm trees, and lots of interesting little touches here and there. There is a cooler where you can buy Hawaiian sodas in a can. There are also photos of the owners with Guy Fieri . You order at the counter and they give you a number and deliver your food to your table. There are screens above the counter with the menu, but there are a couple of actual menu books that you can look through. There are so many choices on the menu. The prices are right, as well. This food comes on styrofoam plates, so you know it isn't fancy, but it sure is good! Tonight we had the bulgogi plate, which is served with two scoops of white rice and the best macaroni salad ever. We also had a bulgogi sandwich and fried wontons. Last, but not least, we had the laulau (pork wrapped in taro leaves), served with the lomi salmon (kind of like Hawaiian ceviche). We continue to come back to this place over and over. It's not fancy, but it's good food at a great price. Definitely recommend. read more

I visited Aloha Kitchen to have some spam musubi and it did not disappoint. This place is a strip mall eatery with a fun different menu. There's a big board explaining their selection. The counter help was friendly and the service is fast. I just grabbed some musubi and a pork bun and both were fantastic. The prices for all menu items are very reasonable. Great Hawaiian spot serving up tasty food. I got the mixed plate #2 with chicken katsu and teriyaki beef. Both the meats were delicious. It came with a side of Mac salad and rice as well. I also got one of their spam musubi not my favorite. I thought it had a bit too much rice in it and overpowered the spam. Check out their recent health code violations (August 2026) before you go. We found this place last year and were excited for a good, local Hawaiian place. Today we went for lunch and ordered two medium-well done burgers with fries, wontons, and two large drinks. Turns out they only had one large drink and lids that didn't fit the cups. They brought my burger out 10 mins before my husband's and they were both raw in the middle. We never got our wonton appetizer even long after getting our burgers so we asked for a refund and they immediately turned around and sold those wontons to another patron as I guess the ones we ordered were the last they had. Kind of odd. They refunded us for the wontons and burger and I told them just how bad the food and experience was overall. The young women working there were nice but just kind of shrugged like they didn't know what to do with that. Wanted to support local today but turns out that wasn't worth the almost $50 it cost to do so with potential food poisoning on the side. We noticed they've done some renovations since we last were in so maybe they're under new management but I'm not convinced today wasn't their first ever attempt at making a burger or having a job, or potentially their first day on earth. read more

Foremost, I would say Aloha Kitchen excels in their teriyaki chicken. I normally do not like Americanized teriyaki as they're often too sweet, too saucy, etc., but Aloha Kitchen has possibly the teriyaki chicken in the state. It's got great smokiness and has been consistently tender and not dry. If you can only try one item, I would definitely say get the teriyaki chicken. They currently only take pickup orders by phone. Otherwise, you can place your order through Grubhub for delivery. Aloha Kitchen also offers dine in with a medium amount of seating. You can comfortably seat groups of 4-6 people (you'll need to push tables together for the 6). Besides the teriyaki chicken, everything else on their menu does not stand out as much. Some things could be better, but I wouldn't say any single thing is terrible either. If you request your beef or eggs to be cooked a certain way, it'll always come out the same: medium rare meat and over easy eggs. If this is an issue due to dietary concerns, keep this in mind when ordering. They also often have daily and weekly specials. Keep an eye out! read more

INCREDIBLE! I'm obsessed with Hawaiian food and I did come in with high expectations. Aloha Kitchen did not disappoint. The meat with the Bulkogi plate was so tender and juicy, rice was cooked to perfection, even the salad was so yummy. I tried a spam masubi out of curiosity and it was delicious!! I recently ordered the #2 plate, which includes bulgogi meat and chicken katsu. The chicken katsu was delicious, crispy, and flavorful. The plate comes with rice, a small portion of raw cabbage, a choice of mac salad or greens, and an orange slice. We have been here a few times, but I never reviewed it for some reason. First thing that sets it apart is Guy Fieri at here, so that is a huge plus. I'll give you fair warning this place isn't about atmosphere at all. It's pretty basic inside. Very clean, but basic. Super friendly service. And a great variety on the menu. I ordered the mix plate number 3 which was the teriyaki chicken and Katsu chicken with rice and the macaroni potato salad combo. And my wife ordered the teriyaki chicken with rice in the mixed greens salad. The chicken is not chicken breast which is usually a deal buster for me but I will have to say that the way they prepare their food I do not mind it at all. It is delicious. I would say that they probably need to put just a little bit more teriyaki sauce and a little bit more of the katsu barbecue sauce on the chicken. That's probably the main reason why I did not give them a five-star rating. I thought the meal was very affordable we did not get drinks but everything came out to just a little over $32 with an appetizer. I highly recommend going to this restaurant. read more

We popped in for a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon as we were out running errands. The place was nice and clean and not too busy. We were warmly greeted as we walked in and we placed our order and waited a short time for our food. We ordered a mini bulgogi and a soft drink to share. For the price, it was quite a lot of food, enough for the two of us. I'm not sure if it's because I just returned from a trip to Hawaii where we ate a lot of incredible local food so my expectations may have been a little higher but to me, our meal was just average. New owners or management???? I never thought I'd be giving Aloha Kitchen a bad review but here we are. We have been coming here for years and years and always raved about it to all our friends and family. We haven't been in about 6 months so decided to stop by while we were in the area. The menu screens weren't working, which is fine we don't need a menu ever, but at least have togo menus out for people to look at? Seemed odd. The girl working the front informed us everything they were out of which was A LOT. We ordered and sat down to wait for our food. It wasn't even busy and we waited at least 30 minutes. I've been multiple times while it was PACKED and have never waited that long. My husband got his food before mine and immediately we noticed it did not look the same as usual. Also what's up with the new packaging????? Absolutely horrible, go back to the plates. Mac salad tasted completely different and so bland. Teriyaki chicken was fine but not good like before. We ended up not even eating our food and just leaving. Super disappointed and confused. Hopefully they figure things out fast because that was a really awful experience. read more

This is a good Hawaiian takeout or sit-down restaurant. Theres a large selection of Hawaiian food but sadly Kalua Pork is only available on Wednesdays. I had the spam loco moco and spam musubi. Both were really good but the gravy on the loco moco tasted more like gravy from a Salisbury steak than gravy I'm used to in Hawaii. It definitely wasn't bad. It was very good, just maybe a little less authentic than I hoped for. Prices are reasonable and portions were big. I'll be back. read more

Finally found a really good Hawaiian spot! We have tried a few in the past and they just don't quite cut it as far as taste and quality. Aloha kitchen was delicious and plentiful with their portions. We have been there twice now, I've had the combo with chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki, which both are really good. The chicken katsu is lightly breaded, with a simple katsu sauce on the side. The teriyaki was the star of the show, love the smoked flavor from the grill and the teriyaki sauce is sweet and salty, but not overpowering. The Mac salad is tasty and I love the pieces of potato in it, honestly wish they gave you more. We tried the fried wontons, which were simple and the filling was flavorful, but overall nothing that special to speak about. And we lastly we tried the fried saimin, I saw it was popular in other reviews but it just wasn't hitting the mark for me. The noodles had some kind of aftertaste to them, not sure what it was. The pork reminded me of the Chinese pork back home on the east coast, so that was a nice touch. If you get a chance, add the JR sauce on the side. I'm a favorite of the triple D Guy Fieri show. This restaurant was featured on one of his shows and it did not disappoint. I had the combination of Bulgari and teriyaki chicken. This dish was quite flavorful and some of the most tender chicken I've ever eaten. I also got to try the Kalbi, (short ribs), which proved to be very tender and quite flavorful. The staff was very polite and quite helpful in choosing our menu. A great find and well worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

We are already planning on coming back. Everything was spectacular. The spam musubi (not pictured :-)) was so good! The garlic shrimp and teriyaki chicken plate was awesome. The food tasted fresh and the chicken and shrimp high quality. The portion was generous and we will have leftovers. The saimin was also amazing! The broth was yummy and my favorite part.
