Honestly the best steakhouse for the price, especially for birthdays. And I mean great quality for the price! We usually come here for birthdays due to their loyalty deal and it's totally worth it. We always order steak and we've tried a few of them. However this time around we chose very similar steaks to keep the price the same and use the deal. Both New York Strip. The baked potato is so good! I highly recommend this and make sure to say yes to the bread before dinner. The hosts and servers are very well trained, respectful and attentive. No complaints from me. Also the interior and decor is classy but not over the top or old and gothic for a steakhouse. Another year and it's a birthday review. I returned to utilize the awesome free birthday entree with a purchase of an entree. Such a great deal for a steakhouse. I got the peppercorn steak with a baked potato. The kiddos got their kids meal. One with cheesy pasta as they call it but it's really just Mac and cheese. My other son got chicken tenders. Their kids meal is a great deal as they get a veggie tray which has carrots, celery and crackers, their choice of an entree, a drink, and even ice cream! I wish I could just come and order a kids meal. The best part is the ciabatta bread that comes to your table before the meal arrives. If used to be sourdough but unfortunately they changed it. This has been a main stay for prime rib and drinks for years. We stopped by the other night for happy hour as we've always loved the food. I've recommended the HH orange drop martini for a long time. This was a very disappointing drink and the prime rib sliders were just about the same. Meat was chopped not sliced totally very cool and the au jus was cold. My weekly "Mom Night" was unfortunately let down tonight. Decided to have a late dinner at The Keg here in San Tan Village. The customer service was GREAT! The hostess was friendly, my waitress (Bella) was knowledgeable and accommodating, and the kitchen runners were prompt. The food, fell short! I strayed with the warm bread that was good. Requested a Ceasar with not breading and it came loaded with bagged croutons. The steak and crab cake I ordered was disappointing. The steak was cooked at the wrong temp and the crab cake was full of large pieces of bell pepper and a displeasing texture. The side veggies lacked flavor and the twice baked potato was simply a potato scooped out, put back in, and burnt on the top. The Gin Basil Lemonade cocktail was too sweet and not at all alcohol forward. The restaurant was dimly lit and romantic. Indicative of a steakhouse. 2 stars for customer service and atmosphere. Great birthday dinner! Our server Alex was phenomenal. Busy Saturday night resulted in a lounge seating but it was a fine. Recommend that you make a reservation. I had the ribeye and it was excellent, cooked perfectly. My wife had the blackened chicken and was very pleased with meal. Unfortunately, the SanTan Village location in Gilbert fell short. Maybe being so far from its Canadian roots has caused it to lose some of its magic. Three out of four of our meals missed the mark. The couple dining with us had both of their steaks comped because they weren't cooked as ordered. Mine wasn't right either, but I didn't want to pile on. Still, when you're paying a premium at a steakhouse, you should get exactly what you ordered--that's their bread and butter. On a positive note, our waiter was fantastic. So this trip was just ok. Considering how much we spent i just expected a little better quality control. It seemed like we had a couple of different servers helping us out which was fine, and they were both great. We did have a billing issue, but it was corrected before we paid. My first visit to The Keg (hubby and MIL have been here before) and really liked it so was excited to try it. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Amanda was our server and was very knowledgeable. We started with drinks and we all enjoyed them: martini, orange martini and a margarita. We all had filets: MIL and I had the small filet and hubby went for the big one but they all looked the same size when they came out. MIL and I did the combo and started with the wedge salads and they were delicious! We were disappointed when our steaks came out before we were done with our salads and before the wine was poured. The bacon was uncooked, just slightly browned. Only six scallops. My husband Ordered a prime rib sandwich and the bread was so hard he had to take it off in order to eat the meat. Had a Pina colata very little alcohol. One of the worst happy hours ever and the reason Im complaining is because the price was outrageous for such terrible food. $77. Absolutely wonderful! Wait staff on point food good. We had an orange martini,Moscow Mule, espresso martini and whiskey sour that was so perfectly crafted. The happy hour appetizers we devoured were the bacon wrapped scallops and tuna tartare. The amount of tuna that was on it was insane! We both chose steak, prime rib and the ribeye. This place was busy. We didn't have a reservation but they found us a table. We had a drink and then ordered. My husband had steak and I had Seabass. We also had scallops wrapped in bacon. Plus we shared a wedge salad. It was the best thing we ate. The scallops were small and just ok. My husbands steak was mediocre and my seabass was very fishy tasting. They did ask if I wanted something else but by then I was full. They brought us 2 glasses of Champagne with our bill. We each took a sip and that was the end of our dinner. We would come to this location every once in a while when I was still living in AZ and the San Tan Mall was only mins away from me. The photos are from late last year. Service has always been great. I remember this last time our server/waiter recommended the pork chop, which I remember just to be ok. But the cauliflower was really good. The marrow was too rich for us. Prime rib is always a safe bet here and is always good. I would always prefer a booth for our date nights. We do call in a head of time for reservations when we know we want to eat hear, but for the most part the wait times are too bad if you don't have a reservation. read more

We had a great happy hour experience on the patio directly in front of the fireplace. The ambience really does make the evening. But, the food is excellent as always. The prime rib sliders are fantastic! Super tender and delicious! We also tried the brussel sprout caesar salad and it was very good. Went here on a recommendation and never going back. Two in our party including myself ordered the 6 ounce steak and lobster and double baked potato. This place exposed the fact that they serve pre-packed food. We got our plate. Both our potatoes were warm on top and frozen cold at the bottom. The service was horrible, our server kept forgetting what we ordered and kept apologizing. Not sure how they have 4 stars. The bathroom was a mess with trash all on the floor. The Keg is a pretty solid option if you want a nice steak dinner out. The service is usually quite good and the food is reliable. Tonight we visited to use my birthday BOGO coupon which I highly recommend you take advantage of. I want to like this place. I've had really good meals and then not. I take clients there and it's a dice roll. My recommendation is just order steak. Every time we stray we are disappointed. Sea bass was not great dry and mushy. I cool it crispy and it falls like pads of butter. Was like it was frozen too long. Salmon was cooked too hard too hot too fast. When you see white on salmon it's dry. The steaks are really good. Worth the visit. For the price I'm torn. I could spend a few dollars more and do Flemming's or Chris. Service is always good. First time coming to the Keg for my birthday, at 830pm on a Monday night. Ambiance was quite nice, definitely saw a variety of people. I ordered off their specialty menu, Kansas City StripLoin with a twice baked potato (recommended by our server) , medium rare, but more on the rare side. My date ordered their Ribeye, medium rare with a twice baked potato as well. I literally took 4 - 5 bites of mine then asked for a box. Decided I was going to use it for something else at home. My steak came out more on the medium side, but I toughed it out and ate a few bites. I didn't feel like complaining and it was close to closing time. My veggies were a bit different from my dates, almost as off we just got what was left at the end of the night. The sauce with my steak was good. The twice baked potato in my opinion was a bit dry. Unfortunately when my server had packed up my steak (this is why I usually prefer to pack my own) , she threw out my veggies and sauce, so I was pretty disappointed when I opened up my box to see those two items were missing, since they were still paid for. Same thing with my date, his veggies were missing as well. His steak was cooked perfectly, and definitely was better than mine, I should have stuck with my normal Ribeye choice, but I listened to our server and took a gamble.
