I've been reluctant to post a review because Jupe's is a small, neighborhood bar that is best kept secret. They do everything the right way and inexpensively, too. An ice cold beer is served in a glass taken right out of the freezer. Specialty liqueurs and glasses for shots kept in the freezer, as well. The only thing that I think that owners need to do is replace the front entrance door with one that keeps the heat and hot air from leaking in during the summer. read more

This is going to sound so crazy, but I have been talking about this bar non stop for the last 2-3 years. I came out to Arizona from Kentucky with my best friend to babysit her SIL's kids. When out there we had a night out before watching the kids and wanted to do a little bar hopping. Tried out a few different ones and didn't like the vibes until we arrived at Jupe's. This place welcomed us with a cold beer and open arms! Staff is over the moon to greet new people and made us feel at home. Regulars made sure we were comfortable and showed us the ropes. Drinks were cold and shots (we had a "few") were all amazing. I tell every person who is visiting to AZ to stop by THIS place. Cash only! Came in to meet my BFF Elvira and when I fist walked in it was so dark I couldn't see anything. But as my eyes adjusted I was able to see a fun bar full of regulars. The bartenders were excellent and the people there are great. Real down to earth group. I saw people playing pool and darts. Awesome dive bar, I stumbled across near my hotel. Kelly was so attentive and friendly. I met regulars so came back again, and met Colby, who was super kool too. This place is so down to earth! We got referred to this place while we were at another bar and we came the same night and it happened to be their 40th anniversary!! If you are expecting the Ritz, you've come to the wrong place. This is for sure a dive bar. And a great one at that. I have never been to a friendlier watering hole in my life. Not only the bartenders are friendly, the customers all seem to know each other and are open to new folks coming in. 2 pool tables (with straight cues), several TV's, Juke box (touch tunes) inexpensive drinks, especially during happy hour! Friend told me she was going stir crazy, just moved her from Colorado and wanted to get out of her 4 walls and wanted to shoot some pool, me not being a pool shark had no idea where to go, but knew someone at work who would, he told me to check out Jupes, so I told her come Friday night we are hitting Jupes, What a great little neighborhood find we found, Jupes is like Cheers for our hood, it's a nice little dive bar, which I liked, had 2 pool tables, friendly bartenders and customers were nice too, didn't seem to mind the 2 new chicks. We played a couple of games, and then decided it was time to go run amuck, so off we went! I can say I will be back to Jupes, liked the feel of the place! read more

If "dive bar" were in the dictionary, it would have a picture of Jupe's. This place feels like the middle of nowhere, in a strip mall far removed from anything noteworthy whatsoever. This appears to be the only attraction with a one-mile radius, and something about that inspires patrons to get really really trashed. They've got a kinda sorta punk rock thing going on. They keep their liquor bottles (like Jager) IN THE FREEZER. It's like being at a house party! 4/5 would come back. read more

I've been lucky enough to have been shown downtown Phoenix by someone who seems to know all the good places. Being a Mesa resident, I'm still enthralled by all things shiny, but he's a little harder to impress. We opted to venture out in my neck of the woods one Sunday evening around 11. Well, if you know Mesa, the streets roll up at 10, so it was slim pickings. Not to worry, or so I thought. I had Yelp. I keyed in "cocktails" and a handful of places including Jupe's appeared. We were already in the car and it was the closest on the map, so off we went. Well, not two steps into the bar, I realized I'd made a horrible mistake. I was in enemy territory and it was too late to turn back. You see, the place felt like my grandpa's basement back home... all except one thing... I had stumbled into a Vikings bar and I'm a Packers fan, born and raised in Wisconsin. By the time I caught the issue, my companion was already seated at the bar. There was nothing I could do but keep a low profile and hope for the best. Now, if it wasn't for that stuff all over their walls, the place could be ok. Really. It felt like home. The patrons were friendly. The bartender was great. Nice pool tables. Dart boards. A jukebox that allowed me to select "On Wisconsin" from the parking lot as I left. (Sorry, guys. All in good fun, right? No hard feelings. And, for what it's worth, I had no idea the other song I picked was 17 minutes long. It was an honest oversight.) In any case, it was pretty clear they had a sense of humor. One only has to look at their Wi-Fi password to see it. (And no, I did not use the Wi-Fi.) Alas, my companion mentioned my home state in passing to the bartender, for reasons unknown. My cover had been blown. Thankfully, I was not run off with a pitchfork and after a little good-natured ribbing, was allowed to return back to my jukebox antics while the guys talked baseball. The moral of the story: if you want a cocktail, this is probably not what you have in mind. If you are a Packers fan, you may want to keep that under wraps. (FYI, the juke box plays Banana's at Large!) That said, if you want a warm and friendly dive bar with nice people and stuff to do while you drink a beer, you've found it- especially if you're a Vikings fan. read more

Jupe's is a great place for a cold beer or a stiff drink. Tap is limited to Bud, Bud light, and Miller light. The mini fridge has a good selection of jelloshots and the bar is otherwise well stocked. I've been stopping in here, when in the area, for over twenty years. One thing about this place is consistency... always cash only, always a Vikings bar, always as dark as grandma's basement, and always friendly folks inside. I showed up for a Packers/Vikings playoff game years ago, Packers won, but no blood shed between fans. If you're looking for serious dive bar action, this is a great place for it. So went for a drink. I could care less if this is a gay bar just wanted to hang out with my friend. Two guys attacked us when my husband came up with his motorcycle and then decided we were angry leabians....the two guys called police and then ran and attacked us at our house after following us home. Jupe's met all the qualifications for a great dive bar:Nondescript, almost obscure location in a nondescript strip mall; early 80's decor (such as dark wood paneling) that has not been updated; cheap drinks; asuper friendly sweetheart of a bartender and a great crowd (the kind that chat you up when you're having a smoke outside) I'm pretty bummed that I live so far away from here because this would totally be my hangout if I lived in that neck of the woods. I will definitely be back for a couple of beers because this is a fun place. But I won't be getting my serious drink on here unless I get a local to take me home. In all seriousness though, Jupe's is one of the best Dive Bars in The Valley and definitely worth checking out. read more

This bar is in walking distance from our house. It is tucked away in a mostly empty strip mall. The first few times we went it was mostly empty because we went early ( between 7 and 9 pm) It tends to pick up closer to 11 or so. The bartender is great, and the drinks are cheap. They have a ton of different weird flavored vodkas, which I am generally not a fan of, but Chris has some great uses for them. We like chatting with him and getting is opinion on all the flavors. (cilantro= wetnap.) It is a cash only bar, so keep that in mind. All in all, we like it a lot. read more

Cozy little dive bar. A friend of mine got there before me and told me "are you sure this place is closed down"? I had to call them to confirm that it wasn't. When we all got there, we sat on this wooden round stool table and ordered our beers and weak fruity drinks. The bar was reletively empty at a Sunday night but you could tell there were regulars. One person in our group ordered a Grapefruit beer and some middle aged woman came up and shook his hand because she liked that beer too so you can tell that there are some regulars here. AMAZING!!!!!!! My fiancé is from Minnesota so we were looking for a place for the Vikings and found this place via YELP!!! This is the place to be if your a Vikings fan in the Easy Valley. We started coming here I believe Week 2 of the 2014-2015 season and have been back just about every week since. I am from Michigan and sorry to say am I big Lions fan. I gave my bar up per our weekly switch-off(as a true loving couple would do) to come here weekly, that's how fun it is. The owners Steve and Renee will remember you name and maybe your order if you tip well. Great people that provide a no frills good time. No food other than 2 pizza choices, a true Minnesota bar, during the games they have a pot luck. Yes, you bring something and have Renee set it up in the back. You can expect all the northern favorites; chili, pickle roll-ups, chicken wings, cheese trays, lil smokies etc. Booze, super cheap!!(cash only, atm onsite) Great Beer selection, lot of local and national crafts along with norms. Great choices for you mixed drinkers out there also. If you are coming for a Football Sunday, they do have the package, but only 5 TVs. Yes, you read that correct. Place can only hold 100 people according to the sign on the wall. But 4 at least will be on the Vikings game, if you're lucky and catch Steve in a good mood he may put one (above the jukebox) on your game (no sound). With that being said if your team is playing against the Vikings, it's also a good time. Stopped in for a drink after a long bike ride. Total dive bar, but patrons and staff were very friendly. I didnt have a bike lock and the patrons/owner said i could just bring in the bike while I got smashed. I must have spent about $20 after being there for 2-3 hours. I think the beers are $2. Its a cash only bar, but they have an ATM in the front. I will definitely be heading there again soon. read more
