After maybe seven years... eight? Honestly I can't remember how long this place has been open, but I finally decided to write a review. Why now? Because after walking by the patio on the way to my truck, it reminded me how loud and obnoxious this place can be. First off, there are literally caged parrots in the dining areas -- and they never stop chirping. Loud parrots, all the time. If that's your idea of dining ambiance, then you might love it here. For me, though, it's...well, clearly for the birds. I still can't imagine the meeting where someone said, "You know what people want while eating? Constant, insanely loud parrots." Beyond that, since they first opened, the beer and food have always been mediocre at best. Not terrible, just nothing that makes you want to come back. They do have a giant patio upstairs, which sounds great in theory, but it feels kind of static and uninviting. Most of the time it's filled with loud groups yelling across the patio after a few drinks, which just isn't my scene. Maybe if I were still in college I'd feel differently. The Perch has always been a go-to spot for my friends and me, but after last night, we have zero desire to go back. The bartender working Saturday the 25th, the one wearing a backwards white hat, was unbelievably rude from the moment we ordered. She gave my boyfriend attitude, then me, and the situation just kept escalating. When we asked for two waters, she yelled "waters over there!" across the bar. When she handed me my drink, she literally slid it down the bar at me and then yelled "NEXT!" The bar was basically empty, so the behavior made no sense. Because of how rude she was, we tipped $0 (which is rare for us -- we always tip when service is decent, but tipping is based on service). About 20 minutes later, another friend from our group -- who wasn't even there when we ordered -- went up to the bar and was completely ignored by all the bartenders. When the same bartender finally came over, she said, "Are you guys actually going to tip this time?" Then pointed out, "Yeah, your blonde friend didn't tip." This was his first interaction with her, and he had no idea what had even happened. He ended up tipping extra just to smooth things over. The entire group was shocked by how entitled and unprofessional the behavior was, especially for a casual bar in Chandler -- not a high-end cocktail lounge in Scottsdale. On top of that, my vodka soda tasted awful and was served in a plastic cup. Beware: if you don't receive good service here and don't tip, expect to be treated poorly or ignored the rest of the night! Visited to The Perch with a group for a birthday dinner. The business is in downtown Chandler off a side street in what appears do be a residential neighborhood. The outdoor space is very spacious with trees and birds. It almost felt like being in someone's backyard. The service was good and fairly quick for being we were a fairly large group. Staff were friendly. Prices are a bit high but also somewhat to be expected for a brewery. The food was good. There's a section upstairs that had a live band playing, loungers and a bar. I likely would not visit again unless for a special fathering. read more

Such an unsuspecting place -- Perch Brewery truly feels like stepping into a jungle oasis right in the desert. Surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful birds, it's a completely unique experience. The trees and umbrellas actually provide real shade, which makes a huge difference in the desert heat. We ordered and shared a Cubano sandwich with pub tots, served with jalapeño marmalade and ranch, and I enjoyed a beer as well. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. What really makes this place special is the tropical birds throughout the space. Even better, they're part of an exotic bird rescue, which makes the experience feel even more meaningful. I came here with my family for a late lunch ! And let's just break it down ...so I've been here before many times at night but never for food. I got Caesar salad, big pretzel and a side tater tots The ceaser salad chicken was the best of the of the salad the dressing was very running and off . Pretzel with "beer cheese" was not beer cheese at all ..it was more of a nacho cheese for sure ..not my favorite ..the tatter tots were honestly the best !!! Perfect crips!! Also not sure what they are trying to deal with the charcuterie board with espresso cheese very odd.. I would go back for sure during the night time for drinks! The Ambiance is great, if you have never visited The Perch, they have a great patio with various cages with parrots inside those cages. Very different concert... however it went downhill from there! We sat in the bar area at a high top table, ordered drinks. It took a while for them to take our order, not enough staff working there! My partner's beer was not cold, we had to ask the server to bring a cold beer! Then about 10 minutes later, the bar tender came by again with a cold beer and we asked if the pizza was good, his reply was "It's very good" and with that we decided to order pizza! When it finally came to our table, the quality was like store bought frozen pizza with pieces of chicken on top, it wasn't hot, nor very tasty! Very disappointing. Then we ordered dry wings, we needed to order something else since we weren't eating the pizza! The wings were saturated with seasoned salt, extremely salty. I had an upset stomach by the time I got home. I do not recommend eating here if you like good quality, however if you decide to go for a beer or two, make sure you order a Cold Beer!!! Signed.. After work, a friend and I decided to try this place out since it was really close by. We sat at the rooftop which was super nice! I ordered their patty melt and enjoyed it! I'm also a BIG french fry girl and I will say, their french fry's were pretty good! The service was very quick for it being a busy thursday night, but most importantly, very friendly! We went on a Saturday night around 5 pm. The live music was good but SO loud and we weren't even near it. Then it stopped around 6-7 (thankfully) and they played normal music at a normal loudness. The food was subpar. For the prices, not worth it. The Mac and cheese was flavorless and not creamy. The margherita pizza was lacking in flavor as well. The balsamic glaze was good and the crust had great texture and taste. Sauce was not good. Not enough mozzarella. Tomatoes needed salt and pepper at least. It's a fun environment but the food needs some improvement. I'd probably give it another shot one more time but if it wasn't good again, I wouldn't go back. read more

My boyfriend and I are pet bird owners. We visited The Perch Brewery many years ago but wanted to go back when the weather was nicer, since it's mostly an outdoor restaurant. We visited on a recent Wednesday night in December. The birds are well taken care of and are in large aviaries. They have several Amazon parrots, which are our favorite, as well as macaws, cockatoos, African greys, and conures. The birds are from Arizona Exotic Bird Rescue in Scottsdale. We sat outside on the main level, in the central patio area. Each table had their own heater/lamp, which could be pulled down for more intense heat. Our server was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about the restaurant, the birds, and the menu. She made us feel like honored guests. I ordered the fish and chips, which I got with tots. It also came with an incredible house-made slaw, which was light and flavorful. This was one of the best fish and chips meals that I've ever eaten. The portion size was generous as well. My boyfriend devoured his hamburger (Perch Burger) and fries. It had a light jalapeno relish on it, which added a small amount of kick to the burger. There was plenty of street parking available nearby on a Wednesday night. There's also a parking garage nearby. We were impressed and will definitely be back! read more

Such a cute place! This place is especially good for large groups and gatherings. This huge backyard with large tables made it easy for large groups. Got their two eggs plate, and it came with two large bread, butter, berry jam, and potatoes, these are nothing special but always so comforting to eat. And I like their bread and berry jam! I love this place for drinks and hanging out on the top deck! However, my food experiences here have been less than average. I've ordered the Perch Tenders ($17) and Perch Wings ($18). The tenders did not come with fries, and the wings didn't even come with celery or carrots. I chose mango habanero for the wings, expecting a spicy kick, but they were milder than anticipated. The wings were also quite small for the small cup of ranch. To add to the disappointment, the food arrived cold. For the price, I wouldn't order food here again. It's a great place to hang out for drinks, but for food, it may be better to dine downstairs in the restaurant area, and hope it's a better food experience there. read more

Went for brunch and had a lovely time. I had the chicken and waffles, which were perfectly fine and my partner had the breakfast sandwich which he enjoyed. The star of the show for me was the espresso martini! Service was fast and our waitress was both kind and attentive. Plus a staff member took the time to teach the kids in our party about the rescue birds on their patio. One spot for feedback was that we did tell the staff of some allergies and still received items with the allergen clearly used as an ingredient. Had a great lunch at this place. I've been wanting to come for a long time and finally made it. As soon as we walked in we noticed the shaded garden like atmosphere. There is a patio shaded by large trees and lots of umbrellas hanging, and on one side there is a bar in the building with seating inside. On the other side there are rows of tables for large crowds, but they are in the sun. It's a lovely atmosphere, but the best thing of all is the large bird cages filled with parrots and cockatoos. These are all rescued birds, and they are awesome. One of them squawked the whole time, which was pretty entertaining. We have the option of ordering off the brunch menu or the regular menu, there were a lot of good choices that we ended up with the shells and cheese with bacon added, and the build your own pizza with pepperoni. Both were yummy, and the servings were quite large. Our server was very nice. I think she had a lot of tables, but did a great job anyway. The hostess seemed a little out of it. Best place to go to in downtown Chandler by far. Downstairs has amazing food, helpful servers and a bunch of very talkative tropical birds and parrots to look at fun for all ages. The downstairs bar is the coldest ac out of all the downtown bars in the summer time heat which is very important to me! Nothing worse than sitting down inside and sweating more than a beer glass when the whole idea was to take a load off.. and they got you covered. Cold drinks and a colder breeze Upstairs is the real vibe though with the best service and live music the city has to offer. With a giant wrap around bar and massive section of outdoor "patio furniture" style seating, Fun games to play from pool to shuffleboard and even an old school food truck that serves bar food to snack on. This is the spot! Whether upstairs or downstairs you're bound to have a good time. 10/10 recommend. I bring all my out of town visitors here and only hear great things after. I do not recommend the drinks, I ordered a pineapple jalapeños margarita and my friend a skinny margarita both of the drinks were terrible to say the least. We've always liked the perch, but boy did it start getting really expensive! Recently we found that they have a new happy hour with six dollars off apps and we've been making our way through the menu. Everything has been delicious. Also on Wednesday that they do half off bottles and glasses of wine. I had a rosé that only cost me $3.50 a glass! The charcuterie boards change depending on what they have available that week. The elote dip was delicious with some added tajin and the homemade chips were some of the best I've ever had! The bartenders there are all so nice and you can't beat the ambiance! This place is so unique! The birds of all shapes and sizes have the most amazing colors and sings their songs along with the wild birds who flit around. The staff is all extremely friendly, knowledgeable and diligent. Then after a million change of hands to diff chefs through out the years things started to plummet not only food. But price wasn't worth it and then the birds....idk. It's supposed to be like a bird sanctuary but idk how well those birds are being cared for especially when they move around the loudest bird to be all alone in a corner practically so whenever you eat over at ghettyotaco all you hear is that one bird Just going rampant. What even made me more angry which i wont dive deep into is when they opened up another location at our favorite place for Philly cheesesteaks now we can never get those sandwiches ever again thanks to the perch and flying bassets shady doings. I really liked this place. It has grown so much! The weather was beautiful and semi outdoor seating was perfect. They had music playing which gave it a cool vibe and also had amazing birds for your viewing and listening pleasure! They have food for everyone- I had the avocado tacos which I really liked. Two of my friends said they had them in the past but didn't seem to like....not sure why be they were so yummy! One friend had the fish and tots - he said the fish was good and the tots, well they are just tater tots (better than fries!) several of our other friends had a variety of burgers which look amazing if I ate meat. This place was great. The wife and I were looking for a bar to have drinks and stumbled on this place. There is a free parking garage catty corner to the restaurant which helped . There is a restaurant down stairs that was well spaced out. Very roomy for parties and great for smaller parties as well. They had a brid cage with birds so you can see them. Which was different but unique. We decided to go to the roof top bar. They had a small food truck up top that served appetizer food. Tacos, nachos, pretzel, etc. Ton of space to sit or lounge on the couches they have or just sit at the bar. They have pool table and shuffle board available. Tons of beer choices and mixed drinks along with custom drinks they make. The wife was drinking Adult Capri Sun and I was drinking Jin & Tonic. The staff was great and very friendly. They have live bands on Sat. Not sure about any other day but there was one leaving when we got there and 5 min later another band showed up. Played all genres of music. All and all. It was a great place to hang out and we will be going back. I recommend this place to anybody looking for a great time with music and drinks. read more

The Perch has to one of the oddest places to go and have a beer and eat. We ate the one in Gilbert and the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was exactly what you would expect from a place that rescues parrots. There is an outside patio and rooftop bar. About 80% of this restaurant is outside so beware! The rooftop bar has a live band on certain nights and has a 360 degree view of Gilbert. They are a brewery so do expect to go there and get your mainstream beer. Food was decent and the restaurant (bar area on main floor) was clean but too dark for my senses. I am low vision so reading the menu was a bit of a challenge. The owner, Rebecca, is amazing! Go check it out, you may have just found your next local watering hole! read more

One of the best breweries around! Between the food, drinks, and atmosphere, you can not go wrong coming here. The food is incredible. We tried the Crispy BBQ Chicken Pizza and the Fish N Chips. Both were fantastic! I'd come back for the pizza alone. Everything tasted so good and had large portion sizes. The beer here is equally as good! They have a huge variety of their own stuff. I highly recommend the flight to try 5 different beers. It's hard to pick a favorite! Lastly, the atmosphere is so fun and unique. Went to this place on a Wednesday night, and they had a live band on the balcony! I gave it 4 stars because the food isn't the greatest, but the waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere with the umbrellas and birds makes up for it. This is a fun place to go check out, and it's family friendly. You can sit outside downstairs, outside on the balcony upstairs, or inside. They have birds in cages and they can be loud. There are many funny signs and interesting facts about each bird. I would go again just for the atmosphere. read more
