I came here wanting a burger, after seeing something on Facebook a year ago. I was excited to try this place, as I like a good burger and the ratings seemed solid. Unfortunately, I don't get the appeal. I had the LA Burg, ostensibly a pastrami cheese burger just the way I like it, grilled onions, cheese, burger sauce, pickles. Don't get me wrong, the sandwich was tasty, but I but it failed at being a burger. The patty was thin as paper and I couldn't even taste it. I liked the Pastrami, it was grilled, and wasn't too lean, but the burger part of it was disappointing. If I ordered a Pastrami sandwich, this would be 5/5, but it's supposed to be a burger. And it's not a good 'burger'. Smash burgers are fine, but not like this, not paper thin patties I can barely taste. Also, the service was monotonous. It was like the employees were held hostage. We were going for a game and found this to be in the vicinity. Okay, it was like a 15 min walk from Chase Field, but was it worth it? Hell yes. Would i do it again, 10000%. Simple menu, tasty smash burgers. The hubby and i both got the Double Burger and we were blown away. Loved the lacy edge and brioche bun (i think it was brioche?). The secret sauce was tasty but not overwhelming. And did i mention those waffle fries? I don't know what seasoning was on it but it was reminiscent of wedge fries which i can't find anymore? Welcome to the Bad Jimmy's Review. Got put onto this spot from some beloved friends and I hope you get the chance to try it out too. I gotta say, one of the best seasoned fries from any burger spot I've tried recently. The dry rub wings are a must get, bigger than an average bone-in wing. The seasoning is a nice surprise when I've had a lot of weak dry rubs wings, you definitely gotta pair the chicken with ranch to balance the bit of saltiness. Lastly, for the smash burgers, if you like a satisfying bite that hits the spot, you found your new home here. I love the pickle inside to add an anchor of sour and tangy through all the heaviness of the patty and cheese. Buns are soft and soak in the residual meat juice. My Yelp friends from Houston flew in this weekend and this was the chosen spot for lunch (since we had a lil too much fun last night, lol). We ordered a few of their burgers along with fries and wings. They have a dry rub and the Buffalo Sauce wings. I think the dry rub is called Tennessee Dry Rub, I forgot, but all you need to know is they are absolutely delicious!! I can't even remember which one I got, but it had their own version of Thousand Island dressing and grilled onions. The meat hang on these burgs have been my best find yet, lol. This location isn't huge inside, but it's enough for a few groups of friends. They also have a bar inside and that would be a good spot to pregame woth friends. Oh my goodness! What an amazing smash burger (they don't call it that) $12 was way worth it for this burger. It was outstanding!!! Simple place. Bar on one side order on the other. When I walked in, I found myself wondering aloud if the double burger would be too much food for me for a mid-afternoon lunch. The staff explained that the patties are smashed flat, so she recommended the double burger. I got a double burger and fries, took the number the staff handed me, and sat at the table. At the bar, the bartender bantered with the customers there. Soft music played in the background. My food arrived not long after, hot off the grill. The double burger was delicious. The beef patties were crunchiness around the edges and seasoned, juiciness in the center. The pickles added a fun snap while the cheese and onions were smooth and mellow. The not-so-secret sauce, liberally applied, brought everything together with a creamy richness between two fluffy potato buns. The fries were starchy, hot potato goodness showered with salt and dusted with paprika. We ordered 2 double smash burgers with cheese and an order of waffle cut fries. The burgers had 2 thin patties with secret sauce, pickles, onions and cheese on a potato bun. The meat was nicely caramelized and with a crunch. The onions were raw and a bit overwhelming. The cheese smothered the meat a buried any meat flavor or taste. The fries were spot on and delicious. Service was limited with only calling your number to pick up your food. I'm not unrealistic in my expectations that this is a burger shop, short and simple. I was however, looking for meat lightly season and a good crunch around the edges. I don't feel that that Bad Jimmy's met the mark. It was good but not above average. I highly recommend the double burger but the L.A. Burg with pastrami really surprised me. I think it's also worth trying as well. The vibe here is fast and casual, great for a quick bite. Seating is limited though so you need luck and timing on your side to snag a table. There is outdoor seating but with the Phoenix heat, I usually wait it out until something becomes available inside. This place was weird and definitely not my vibe. My sister and I stopped by on Friday after a Sun's game (around 10pm). There was a gaggle of people standing outside which made us think that was the line to get in. We asked and they said no. It was one solid piece holding this work of art together like a hot dog bun decided to start bulking. It was literally the perfect bun. Texture was great, it was airy. I think Bad Jimmy's very well may be my favorite burger joint in all of Phoenix. Everything about this burger spot makes it feel like exactly what you would want to have in a burger place. Simple, burgers and fries, but cooked to perfection. We went at night after a downtown event we attended because we were still hungry and as you can see the neon lights just stand out and you don't know whether you're walking into a naughty place or not... but it feels chill once you walk in: there are tables in the front, the counter, then then a side room where you can also sit with your food. You order at the counter and menu isn't too expansive. But does have some options which is nice. I grabbed a burger and waffle fries to share with my guys. The sauce inside the burgers is insane. The cooking of the burgers is perfection. The crispiness of the waffle fries is immaculate. I tried to take a pic of my burger midbite to see if I could figure out why it was so damn delicious but I don't think I did: let me just tell you - it IS GLORIOUS. So damn good. Lady at the counter was lovely, she actually spoke Portuguese which my friend from out of town did too so what was a random special delight but overall, all three of us still dream of this burger. Great place after a night in downtown, love the vibes inside with lighting, music, and bar. Usually at night, inside seating is packed but there's more available seating outdoors in the back. I loved the Rocket to Russia which was refreshing and a classic Pornstar cocktail. DOWNSIDES: while waiting in the back I noticed at least 3 roaches on the walls, by a puddle and the trash can possibly attracting them which totally grossed me out. Roaches in the food industry is a huge concern. Definitely stuck to sitting inside after that. Also, parking is technically not free as you have to pay for street meters which can be a pain to find any open in the first place at night or weekends. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you but there is also a full bar inside of the restaurant which is a great area to hangout with friends, eat, and listen to music! They do have some outdoor seating as well. The burger was delicious and had super crisp edges to it but held a ton of flavor. They had a great house sauce on the burger paired with onions and lettuce that tied the burger together well. Vibe is old school burger joint with modern touches and a full bar on one side with pick up counter on the other.
