After grocery shopping at HMart we decided to check out this place to see if they carry different banchan than HMart. They have a pretty good selection of banchan but is very similar to HMart in selection and price so I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting something different and since we had already shopped, we just got marinated little baby crabs to try. I was pleasantly surprised as it was very well flavored and delicious so I'd definitely go back and try some other side dishes. The owner also came out from the kitchen and was very friendly and explained the soups were just made. They had a restaurant menu at checkout so I asked about it and she said though they had advertised as being open, they weren't ready yet. She stated she did make some dishes for customers that requested which is so accommodating of her. The menu looked really good so I'd go back when the restaurant opens. They also have some really good looking bento boxes for only $13.99 that come with rice, meat, japchae, potstickers and side dishes. I've tried one from HMart in the past but these look much better so I will go back to try them. Glad I found this place!

Noticed soft opening sign here so we stopped in. They had wide selection of banchan including fresh made kimchi. It's great idea for a place to stop and get some side dishes to take home. However, selection is somewhat very similar to what you find at Hmart across the street. We brought home japchae and mini gimbap. Tasted exactly how you would expect. I have high hopes they start selling things you wouldn't find at the grocery store. Prices are about the same as grocery store too. Will check again after they officially open and serve food. To be continued.

My friend loves the kimbap from H Mart so we decided to a direct comparison with the kimbap here to try it out. We got the beef one to compare and this place won! The difference is subtle, but there's more seasoning and flavor to the one here (plus it's a $1 less which is always nice but a minuscule factor). We also tried their small kimbap with fish cake since we had never seen it sized like this and it was nice with the spicy radish. I liked how it had less rice, but would've like another fish cake perhaps. The store was nicely cooled down with the roaring 110+ degree weather out. There's 3 fridges of sides and one with special dishes on one side of the store. The kimbap and other dishes were placed in a middle table with seating on the other side. There's 3 different kimbap: beef, fish cake, and vegetarian. Would come back to try more!

Came to check out Arirang Banchan for their soft opening and I'm glad I did! They serve a wide variety of Korean side dishes and dosirak (Korean lunch box sets) and I picked up a stir fried fish cake, stir fried anchovies and mini kimbap. Everything was delicious and you can tell the family here prepared the dishes with love and care! Kimbap was delicious and fresh, anchovies were perfectly crispy and came with walnuts and the fish cake was the perfect amount of chew and spice. They told me after their soft opening they're planning on serving more dishes that aren't just grand and go so I'm looking forward to when they do as I love my Korean diners. Definitely will be back to try more dishes! (To add more context this ain't your prepackaged dishes from Hmart or Asiana. They have your moms touch of home cooking here)

Super happy there's a dedicated banchan store now! They're tucked in the corner of the plaza a bit hard to find but definitely worth it! I ordered 3 different dishes to try with my boyfriend and they were all so delicious! The fish cakes had a nice chew to them and were nicely seasoned while the seaweed and stir-fried fishes were also delicious but on the salty side. They would pair perfectly with a nice bowl of rice! The person working (the son?) also offered to package our items up with ice which I thought was super kind. They're going to start serving food within the next week or so - so make sure you stop by and check them out! I'm waiting for when they stock some stir-fried lotus roots... those are my absolutely favorite. TLDR: If there's any small business to support in Mesa - it's this one! Delicious to-go side dishes and food that won't disappoint. Follow @leafynoms on instagram for more foodie reviews! :)

The inside is so nice and well lit. Their aged kimchee with pork belly hot pot was so savory and not too spicy at all. I also tried their corn silk tea, very refreshing!! Portion sizes are more than enough to fill you. When I tell you, when the food came out, my boyfriend and I realized we are BIGGG BACKSSS. Even though we only ordered 2 items off the menu, this was enough food to feed a family of 5-7. We're only 2 people. Clearly, my eyes were more hungry than my tummy can handle but mm mm MMM, I did not regret coming back here at all. Definitely had to take the food home after. I'm currently eating the leftovers from this photo that I brought home as I write this review. Crying that the food is almost done. Will have to return for seconds!! Thank you Babo Jumak for the amazing food!!

We ordered the rice cake & dumpling soup, jokbal, spicy beef soup, and the hangover ramen. The rice cake & dumpling soup was nice and comforting. I liked the texture of the rice cakes--really chewy--and the dumplings were good too. It was our first time trying jokbal. Honestly, we didn't know what to expect, but we ended up liking it. The portion was huge, and the pork was tender and tasty. The spicy beef soup had a bit of a kick, and the hangover ramen was also good. The broth was rich, and there were a lot of ingredients in it. Everything we tried was good, and I'm glad we came to try this place.

My friends and I came to this place together because I had been before and liked the Korean food here. Food was legit and was a good experience previously. However, the day we came in, the waitress got my friend's order wrong as my friend wanted the bibimbap but the waitress heard something else and brought out a soup. When my friend immediately told her that isnt what she ordered, the waitress (new) proceeded to argue with my friend. I watched incredulously as things started to unfold. The waitress even asked my friend to pronounce bimbimpap again and told her she should learn how to pronounce it better. She kept arguing wirh my friend and mind you, waitess wasnt Korean or Korean American. At this point, I had to step in, as I also heard my friend say bibimbap clearly. The waitress didnt know what she was talking about and at the same time was being rude as heck to my friend. Then, my other friend shows up and orders a bibimpap. When the bibimpap is brought out, I asked her to bring some gochujang for my friend. I didnt know if my friend would like this chili paste, so wanted her to have the option to try it. The waitress again decided to argue about this and at this point, she was really testing my nerve. She said bibimpap doesn't come with gochujang and I am like thinking are you crazy, woman? I am not Korean but I have been eating Korean food for 30+ years, I know what I am talking about. She then asked me to repeat gochujang several times and I was very annoyed at this point. Its like, look lady, you dont know what youre talking about, stop sticking your foot in your mouth and come on, be nice to your customers! Because of this terrible behavior, I asked to speak to a manager, a woman came over and listened to what happened and apologized and thats how we found out she was new. I was beyond frustrated at this point. Despite the horrible service, I still left a 10% tip, but honestly the waitress deserves zilch and needed more training. The food is solid here but I wont be returning with that kind of behavior, I can choose where my money goes, and these days with it being so hard to get by, good luck to this place as I am not coming back.

The beef soup was very good - tofu was ultra soft and silky. I loved the spice level and they bonchon was also definitely worth trying. I would recommend getting extra salad dressing on the side and getting the lettuce plate (which is an extra $3.5) for the meat unless you want to eat it with the pre-tossed salad. Huge fan of the ginseng spirit. Not their typical 40-53% though, so be sure to know the difference. They also served me a different one than what I had in the flight which tasted and looked different (it was murkier vs clear when ordered in the full bottle) and the bottle is def 13%. Service is on pointe - never needed to ask for anything other than another box and if you're trying to hear someone on a first date I wouldn't recommend coming here, but the general ambiance is fun and worth a try with good friends and family. Definitely will try again for other menu items.

They are a little further than I typically would have gone for delivery, but we figured it would travel well and were craving something from our usual Mexican food fix. I cannot speak for the interior or vibe of the space, but takeout was great. We ordered two bowls with bulgogi beef. You can choose your own base, veggies and sauces, so very customizable! I got part brown rice and greens with every veggie option I could get! I was unable to add an egg on the delivery platform, (maybe due to poor traveling?), though it does look like they may offer this in person. We then got some kimchi fries to share. You also get your option of protein on this, which we had selected chicken bulgogi. Shortly after placing order, we received a call from the Bibio team that they were out of a few sauces we had selected, as well as the chicken bulgogi, we made some quick substitutes and upon delivery they had included some complimentary mandu which were delicious and a really kind gesture and really went the extra mile without having to. Overall, everything we got was delicious, flavorful, awesome portions and great as leftovers. The kimchi fries were very good, but I think better for dining in, as most fries are, so I would absolutely order and try them again on an in person visit, but maybe avoid for long drives. Thanks so the great Bibio team for a wonderful first experience and extra great service even while dining out!
