It was a seasonal pork bellied appetizer.

Stylish, classy, high-end. The bar is very classy too. Had a business dinner here with no complaints. The ambiance was very professional. Servers were prompt, friendly and polite, interrupting us only as needed to refill drinks or ask if we needed anything. I would happily cone here again. For the price point the food was very good and as expected.

This restaraunt is a must go too. Dress a little nicer; it's a pleasant experience. The food we had here was soooo good. From the salad to the main course, it's bang-on with the flavors and preparation of the dish. It was actually a highlight of the trip! The salmon and sea-bass dishes were succulent and perfectly cooked with complimenting side dishes and sauces. I highly recommend them if you like fish. The salad we had was a happy hour special which was shockingly good as well! The atmosphere is a little classier than your normal restaraunt or bar situation. They have a bar but it's not as loud or surrounded by tv screens. Our waiter was great too-- recommended the best food for the hour and checked in on us with a friendly/welcoming persona. This is a date-night or afternoon restaraunt. It is expensive but it does hit the spot! I would come back for sure! Nicely done Citizen Public House!

Located in a busy shopping area, this quiet restaurant was a great find. Our server was friendly, although there was a small staff meeting going on about 20 feet from our table and she was unavailable for about 10-15 minutes so we waved down a food runner to refill our water. The dining room was bright and the patio looked nice as well. The food was delicious but a bit overpriced.

"Still Smitten at Citizen" We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Citizen Public House in Scottsdale, and it felt just as special as ever. We were seated at the same table we've had before, with a "Happy Anniversary" sign waiting for us--such a thoughtful gesture that instantly made us smile. We started with the crispy gochujang calamari, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. For our mains, we ordered Beeler's volcano pork shank--tender, rich, and satisfying--and the white tablecloth beef stroganoff, which was comforting and done right. The menu has been updated, and while a few old favorites are gone, the food is still incredibly flavorful. My husband had the Wren House Valley Beer, and I went with De Nada, a zero-proof drink that didn't feel boring at all. The service was warm and genuine, as always. We truly love this place and its ambiance. We never get tired of choosing it when we want a great meal and a great experience. Citizen Public House will always be one of our go-to spots.

Where to begin! We hadn't been here in years, and honestly this place does not get nearly enough credit or attention in the Scottsdale food scene for how good it really is. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food is phenomenal. My husband and I took my mom there for a celebratory dinner, and our server, Kate, was fantastic. She did such a great job explaining the dishes, making recommendations, and giving us insight into what she thought we'd enjoy most. As crazy as it sounds, the appetizers completely stole the show and far outshined the entrées. We shared the pork belly pastrami and the chopped salad (WOWWWW) -- both were absolutely insane. For entrées we shared the ribeye and the beef stroganoff. They were delicious, but the uniqueness and flavors of the appetizers were hard to compete with. We ended with the blueberry bread pudding...also delicious! This is an absolute must-try, and definitely ask for Kate if you can -- she'll make the experience even better!

Quality food, service and setting in the heart of old Scottsdale. This place has indoor and outdoor seating as well as a full bar. Wedge salad is fresh and portion rather large for a starter. It was a great starter to share with my date. The short rib dinner served on a bed of polenta mash falls off the bone with a fork. If you are looking for a bold flavor, then have it with the sweet tangy house-made barbecue sauce. Our service team led by Nathan is fantastic getting us drinks and food in a timely manner. He suggested the bread pudding for dessert served with ice cream and blueberry compote. So delicious and worthy of topping off a beautiful dinner.

Great cozy ambiance with nice lighting. Very accommodating to our seat selection! Great service and yummy cocktail. Has the beef short ribs and the meatloaf app. All was very good. Would come here again if in the area!

When they say they are famous for their chopped salad, they mean it! Was very impressed with their chopped salad! It was delicious, flavorful, and has all the best fresh ingredients. We came here on restaurant week so some items that we got were different than the regular menu. The seafood chowder was very flavorful, only issue was there was sand in a few bites so that wasn't the best. Halibut was fresh and paired so well with the polenta. Restaurant was clean and elegant. They have food and drink deals for happy hour. Parking was convenient since there were street parking and a parking garage across the street. The staff were super attentive. We definitely enjoyed our time here for dinner!

We went for happy hour, which I would highly recommend. Service was great and we love the ambience of this restaurant. It is not modern like its sister restaurant The Gladly. A bit more old school. It was pretty quiet on a Monday during happy hour, but there were still a lot more people than I expected. The amazing chopped salad is reduced to $15 and per our server is the same size as the regular menu salad, which is $23. If you haven't had this chopped salad before, it is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. It is sweet and savory and crunchy and soft all in one. The buttermilk dressing is delicious. Try it if you like smoked salmon. We also had the chili crunch chicken wings, which were only $1 each and really tasty. My husband got the burger, I tasted a bite and it was good. They only do medium rare or medium well, but the medium well was melt in your mouth and not overcooked. The only thing I did not enjoy was the cash money cocktail- it tasted like tequila and lemon with a hint of melon, and I did not really get any of the other flavors. We have been here several times before for dinner and I remember all of the food being good.

Mashed potatoes

Kate our server was so sweet amd had a great personality!! We wish her the very best in what ever endeavor she takes on, she was 5 stars! My wife wasnt feeling great due to the heat and they made her a quick crazy for her mashed potatoes. I ordered the Mac and. Cheese and it was very good along with thier hot wings...very good and the price was great

Went here for a late dinner with my friend after going to the Van Gogh experience down the road. I've heard amazing things about this place but have never had a reason to pop in. We sat at the bar and were quickly greeted by Jacob. Through our service, he was kind, conversational, and helpful even though they were slammed. He even recommended their sister restaurant, Minnow, for another night out. I ordered the De Nada (non-alcoholic) and my friend got the POG Cider. Both were delicious. I would definitely order the De Nada again. For dinner, I got the Pork belly appetizer and a side of fries. The pork belly was so tender and delicate. I could cut through without even using a knife. It sat on a bed of kimchi and a miso type sauce. I ended up using the sauce as a dipper for my fries. This was incredible. Filling, flavorful, and made with care. My friend ordered the salmon and did a literal happy dance after her first bite. (That's how you know it's a really good meal) She was very pleased and didn't even offer to share... Anyways, there are a lot of great places near here but for the quality of food and service, this place is a great find.

Citizen Public House - Elevated Dining with One Gritty Detail. TL;DR Aesthetically stunning with top-tier service, beautifully crafted, and unique dishes. Most of the food delivered big flavor, but sandy clams in the chowder took away from an otherwise perfect experience. What we got: We dined during Restaurant Week ($55 per person) and ordered: * Seafood chowder * Original chopped salad * Pan-roasted halibut * Filet mignon ($20 upgrade) * Seafood Cioppino (salmon, halibut, mussels) * Bread pudding for dessert What hit: The location was exceptional. Heart of old town Scottsdale. Everything about this restaurant was classy, modern, and welcoming. Food came out at a comfortable pace, and the chopped salad stole the show. Everyone at the table agreed it was a standout. What missed: The seafood chowder came with a surprise crunch--not in a good way. The clams hadn't been fully cleaned, and the sand was off-putting. While it's a sign of freshness, it's something you'd expect to be handled at a restaurant of this caliber. Small detail, but it left an impression. Overall, a memorable experience with mostly stellar food, just needs a bit more work on the prep.

Great dinner to tie off our last night in Scottsdale. We arrived at the tail end of happy hour and got to get some drinks discounted to start. I love the Stetson salad and which chatting about it with the server, she offered the recipe card for us to take home! So excited to try and make it later. Drinks were great, food was excellent and service was spot on! There's both indoor, outdoor and bar seating options. Definitely worth a stop for a bite and drinks if you're in the area.

Ask the Community - Citizen Public House

Is there a space for a private party, approximately 30 ppl for food and drink to gather?

Hi Nikki, definitely! We have a great private dining space for groups to enjoy -- you can find more details about the space here: https://www.citizenpublichouse.com/groupdining

Is there a dress code? I see upscale casual but are shorts/flip flops prohibited?

Hey Kelly! No dress code. Come as you are :)

Is this place kid friendly?

It's a large space and quite noisy so I would say loud kids would fit in fine, especially if you dine early, which is possible since they open early. When i recently dined, there was a family with a 3 year old in the next table.

Can you accommodate a party of 15?

Hi Diana! We absolutely can. All parties of 10 or more will need to book one of our private or semi-private dining spaces. You can learn more about group booking at https://www.citizenpublichouse.com/groups

Does Citizen House carry absinthe?

Hi Amanda! Yes, we do.

Are small dogs allowed on their patio?

Hi Patricia! Any registered service animal is welcome to join us on the patio but otherwise no. Our sister restaurant in Phoenix, The Gladly, does however have a dog friendly patio!

Is there a secluded or private area open for reservations?

Hi Cassandra! Yes, we do have private and semi-private dining spaces available for parties of 10 or more. You can visit citizenpublichouse.com and visit the “Events” tab for more information.

Do you have a kids menu?

Hi Cara! We do not have a designated kids menu, but we do have many dishes that can be simplified to be kid friendly! I would recommend the Mac and Cheese or Commander Burger.

Vegan options? Any way to make chopped salad vegan? 🤞🏼

Hi there! Of course. As for the Original Chopped Salad: Simply ask for no cheese, no meat and substitute for our sherry vinaigrette dressing! Just as delicious.… Read more

Do they have happy hour? What are hours & what kind of food?

Yes, they have a happy hour menu 4-6pm daily, check their site

Dogs allowed on patio?

Most likely no!

Is Citizen R+D still a place?

Hi there, the space that used to be R&D is now used exclusively for private dining events. There is still a private bar upstairs which is incorporated into private dining.

How is the atmosphere on a Saturday night?

Fun! Lively bar, pretty loud, everyone having a great time.

Do you guys have corkage fees? If so, how much? Thank you

Hi Elisabetta, we do not have a BYOB liquor license, so unfortunately you cannot bring outside alcohol into the restaurant.

The hostess was very friendly and led us back to the community table near the bar. Our server/bartender was busy at the bar and taking orders. No smile, a no- nonsense personality which is fine, just not friendly at all. My husband and friend decided to do beer flights. They enjoyed except for one of the beers they said had no flavor. I opted for a Tito's dirty martini which is my favorite drink. They enjoyed the beer flights but unfortunately when my martini was delivered, I swore the glass hadn't been properly washed as it had a sweet, coffee taste. I let our server know and she immediately took it and said she would make another which was great. I did see her grab a new glass. Unfortunately the new martini tasted exactly the same. Almost like a terrible espresso martini with olive juice. It was not drinkable. Either she didn't know how to make a dirty martini or the olive juice or vermouth went bad. I couldn't stomach the drink and felt nauseous so left it. We ordered a Chef's Board. Cheese selections, plus pepperoni, salami, prosciutto, mixed nuts & fruits, olives and fig jam. They missed the nuts, fruit and olives. The meat and cheese were good but it was a basic board. We should have ordered the pizza instead as everyone around us had a pizza and it smelled delicious. Our first visit was not the best experience, however, we may give it another try and check out the pizza instead.

If you're looking for a place in Scottsdale that reminds you how exciting vegetables and thoughtful…read morecooking can be, FnB absolutely delivers. We came in for dinner and were advised to order 3-4 dishes for two people, which at first sounded like a lot--but after seeing the menu we quickly understood why. Everything is designed to share, and each dish feels intentional and layered. The snow peas completely surprised me. The lemon had this deep caramelized quality that almost made me pause and ask, what exactly am I tasting? The miso created a savory richness that balanced the brightness of the citrus in a way that felt totally new to me. It's the kind of flavor that sticks with you and immediately makes you wish you could eat it every day. Next was the fresh pasta with roasted carrots, bacon, and goat cheese, and it was pure comfort without feeling heavy. The goat cheese was creamy rather than sharp, which made the dish feel decadent but balanced. And oddly enough, the roasted carrots ended up being my favorite part--they added this subtle sweetness that tied everything together beautifully. We almost skipped the braised chicken leg and thigh with fennel, Sicilian sausage, and heirloom beans because we thought it might be difficult to cut and share at the table. That concern disappeared instantly. The chicken literally fell apart the second the fork touched it--no knife needed. The beans and chard underneath were the real drivers of the dish though: hearty, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the richness of the chicken. It felt like the kind of dish that's rustic but executed at a very high level. One helpful tip: three dishes was more than enough for two people. The dishes we ordered were extremely hearty and honestly could have fed three to four people, especially if you're planning to save room for dessert. Unfortunately we were so full (and happy) that we had to take some food to go and skip dessert this time--but after this meal, I'm already looking forward to coming back just to see what's on that dessert menu. FnB is the kind of place where the ingredients shine, the flavors surprise you, and every dish feels thoughtful. Definitely a spot I'll be returning to. The space has a relaxed, neighborhood feel--unpretentious but clearly focused on great food and a great dining experience. Also a 10/10 cup of hot water

The wine list is fairly extensive, and you will more than likely want a glass or two or more with your meal Charleen Badman (one of the chefs) is considered the "veggie whisperer," for the amazing ways she is able to celebrate and prepare locally grown produce, and I will say we were very impressed. Based on that, I'd expect the rest of the menu to be consistent, even if it's not trying to reinvent the wheel. Service Service was efficient, especially considering how busy it was. No complaints here... you can tell the staff knows how to handle a full house and keep things moving. Ambience This is where the place stands out. The vibe feels like a food network designed a biker bar, but in a fun, not over-the-top way. It's also apparently a Kansas City Chiefs bar, which adds to the identity.
