We came in for dinner and were advised to order 3-4 dishes for two people, which at first sounded like a lot--but after seeing the menu we quickly understood why. Everything is designed to share, and each dish feels intentional and layered. The snow peas completely surprised me. The lemon had this deep caramelized quality that almost made me pause and ask, what exactly am I tasting? The miso created a savory richness that balanced the brightness of the citrus in a way that felt totally new to me. It's the kind of flavor that sticks with you and immediately makes you wish you could eat it every day. Next was the fresh pasta with roasted carrots, bacon, and goat cheese, and it was pure comfort without feeling heavy. The goat cheese was creamy rather than sharp, which made the dish feel decadent but balanced. And oddly enough, the roasted carrots ended up being my favorite part--they added this subtle sweetness that tied everything together beautifully. We almost skipped the braised chicken leg and thigh with fennel, Sicilian sausage, and heirloom beans because we thought it might be difficult to cut and share at the table. That concern disappeared instantly. The chicken literally fell apart the second the fork touched it--no knife needed. The beans and chard underneath were the real drivers of the dish though: hearty, flavorful, and a perfect complement to the richness of the chicken. It felt like the kind of dish that's rustic but executed at a very high level. One helpful tip: three dishes was more than enough for two people. The dishes we ordered were extremely hearty and honestly could have fed three to four people, especially if you're planning to save room for dessert. Unfortunately we were so full (and happy) that we had to take some food to go and skip dessert this time--but after this meal, I'm already looking forward to coming back just to see what's on that dessert menu. I had the opportunity to try this James Beard winning spot in Scottsdale, AZ, and it was quite an experience The restaurant itself is almost a restored work of art. The dining area is fairly cozy in that there aren't that many tables. The dim lighting makes this a great date-night spot The staff were professional and friendly enough. We were given time to pursue the menu, and all of our questions were answered. The dishes are fairly hearty, and make good options for sharing. We would have had dinner here but their reservations system charges you to make a resy and while it's only 2-3 dollars it's the principal that I would have to pay money for them to let me set a time for me to come patronize their restaurant. I reviewed 1,300 restaurants on this site and out of the gate this was easily the best dining experience I have had in this decade. Borris, our waiter, is the most experienced waitstaff who curated what became the most memorable of meals. We ended up having 3 dishes from the vegan side and two from the meat side. Standout stars were the roasted carrots, the warm citrus salad, and the pasta: best we have ever had. A wonderful wine list with true depth, including a rose from Arizona. As soon as you enter the Craftsman Courtyard and walk into FnB, it feels like an oasis from the Scottsdale traffic, shops and galleries. This boutique and neighborhood style restaurant adds to the ambiance. The menu changes seasonally. There were 13 appetizers and only 4 entrees. The menu names were quite unique so we had to ask our server German A (I believe that was his name) for assistance. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The server's assistant was also attentive by constantly refilling our water. We decided to order 5 appetizers and they were large enough to share among the three of us. Went here for a birthday celebration and had a really wonderful experience. We got there 5 minutes early and were seated immediately by a very friendly host. The inside of the restaurant is really cool with huge stained glass windows and interesting decor. We ordered a bunch of food to share as a table. We definitely over ordered but everything was delicious. To start we got the naan, kale falafel, the watermelon salad, and salmonrejo. We split that between the four of us and it was so good! The naan and red pepper spread was amazing! Then we split the lobster and mushroom frittata, smoked chicken thighs, and the pasta dish. My favorite dish of the night was the chicken thighs, which were smoky and delicious! The desserts were a chocolate pecan tart and semolina cake with blueberries. Went here for a joint birthday dinner celebration after a friend recommended it as their favorite restaurant. I fully agree with their assessment! The whole experience at FnB was amazing, from the diverse menu to the friendly and knowledgeable services. Everything here is local to Arizona and paired with Arizona wine. The portions are filling, even for the appetizer sections. The menu changes seasonally as well. We loved the delicate squash, potato cauliflower soup, spicy broccoli, and the pork. Everything was so delicious. Don't skip the bread either, they bring out a huge plate of bread from Barrio (top bakery in Tucson) and anything you don't finish can easily be brought home. My friends and I went to Scottsdale for a girls' weekend, and we were excited to try FnB and their vegetable-forward menu. We ordered a bunch of different entrees, including Mexican street carrots, kohlrabi with apple, fava beans and the pesto risotto. I was adamant about getting something a little larger / more filling, and they were all so happy that we got the pesto risotto since it was delicious. We had the lemon cake for dessert which was tasty without being too heavy or rich. It is an amazing spot for people that are wanting to experience something intriguing and different for the usual palette. Also, if you are vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian this is a great choice, but they also have some incredible meat dishes as well.! I do not have enough good things to say about this restaurant. Really nice dinner here with my sister on a Friday evening in May. We did make a reservation, but there were some open seats inside while we were there. Love that they keep the menu new and fresh, and that there were a lot of vegetarian options. FIVE STARS ALL AROUND! The service was absolutely amazing - the owner's wife was so friendly and wonderful. I was climbing down from Camelback Mountain (true story) and wasn't going to be able to make my reservation time so I called (yes, from the top of the mountain...) and she was so sweet and accommodating. Since I was eating by myself, she also offered to let me order half-portions of some of the dishes (if it was possible to split them). The place is pretty casual but very cute and was well-occupied for a Tuesday night. Note: you do have to put a deposit down when you make a reservation and they'll refund it. The pasta OMG. It was so so so good! Perfectly al dente and the sauce was YUM. The mozzarella was a little hard to pull apart so I might recommend ricotta or burrata instead (although I'm not a huge fan of mozzarella in general so I'm a bit biased). However, when we went in March, we had a vegan friend in our group and the menu definitely had less vegan options than usual. The menu changes weekly, sometimes even daily, depending on what's in season and the chef's creativity--which explains why you won't find it online. We started with the shaved summer squash with basil pesto, Parmesan and pepitas. It was a light and delicious dish. Our server shared how they flew in their salmon from Alaska so I thought it was worth a try. It was delicious and the portion was generous. It was perfectly cooked with great flavor. My husband went with the niman ranch ribeye which had quite the presentation on the plate. My husband had no trouble finishing the dish as the meat was prepared perfectly with great flavor. Be sure to make reservations in advance as the location isn't incredibly large and they do their best to space out the different dining areas. Their menu changes based on the seasons but during this visit there were great protein options such as the grouper. In addition the grouper I got the preuvian rolls, cabbage, lamb manti, and pecan chocolate dessert to end the night. The preuvian rolls had a nice crisp and I also enjoy the grilled cabbage/feta combination. The grouper was hearty and filling and not something I usually see on menus so it was a must try. My favorite of the night was definitely the lamb manti with the combination of the lamb and pomegranate seeds. It didn't have a gamey flavor and has a nice pop of acidity. The pecan chocolate dessert was so rich but was balanced with the ice cream on top. It's a great dessert to get and with the rest of the meal I left stuffed! read more

We checked out FnB for dinner tonight and were blown away with the quality, presentation, service, and overall experience. It's very clean and modern, with a nod to our local resource of timber (flooring to tables to meal presentation) along with comfortable seating (we sat in a booth with fuzzy pillows). It appears they have live music, as a mic and chair were set up in the alcove above the entrance. We ordered the special (whole rack of ribs plus two sides served on a chunky wooden cutting board) and a "small" plate of dirty pork fried rice...and oh my gosh. The latter was unlike anything I've ever had...pretty much a taste explosion that has me hooked. The ribs had a dry rub and were cooked perfectly, and the mashed potatoes and veggies (likely locally grown) were delicious. We wrapped it up with dessert - chocolate mousse and cheesecake...also amazing. This family of three took home leftovers...and we only ordered one entree and a small plate to share. This is easily the best restaurant in what is an underrated city from a culinary perspective. The food, the service, the wine, the ambience there isn't anything constructive that I can say! I think there are two things that really set this place apart from the rest. Two things that allow me to confidently proclaim that FnB is unequivocally THE best; the staff and the food. Staff - the service here is without comparison. They are are attentive, authentic, passionate, and joyful. Everyone seems to be happy that they are there, happy that you are there, and happy that they can provide you with a wonderful experience. The front of house people are second to none in this respect. Food - the things they do are nothing short of mind blowing. You can come here every week (we have for many stretches) and order enough food to 6 people, and NEVER have the same dish. More impressive, everything you try is a hit. You will read the menu and think "that won't possibly work" but somehow, miraculously, inexplicably, it does! It defies reason, but time and time again, the food is amazing. My wife and I had the pleasure of dining outside at FnB for a sunset dinner Friday night. Chance, the waiter, took good care of us checking in multiple times during the evening. I found bottles of wine and bubbly to be reasonably priced so decided on a Spanish sparkler for appetizer and dinner. The James Beard award winning chef certainly dazzled with a perfect blend of expertly cooked vegetables along with with our entree's. My wife had the middle eastern chicken and I truly enjoyed the grilled wreckfish/tilefish. To have wreckfish/tilefish here in the desert was a special treat! The plating in this restaurant is humble, you don't see fancy plating but not a single dish in this restaurant is something you have tried before.
