Not your average dive bar... really great food excellent service and really cool ambience. This is my new favorite hangout in Scottsdale. Jessica, my waitress was really awesome and very friendly and helped me pick out some really great things on the menu. I had the Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries. The German pretzel bites with beer, cheese and the churros with ice cream and a few beers and I have to say the prices are excellent and the food is incredibly good and I don't say that lightning most dive bars are just good for the ambience and a few cheap drinks. Met up with a few guys here after work on a Friday and the place was packed. Definitely a lively local hotspot vibe. You can tell right away this is the kind of place regulars come back to often. Food I didn't try much food, but I did have the cheese crisp and it was solid. Light, flaky, and more like an open-faced tostada than a quesadilla. It came topped with green chili and chicken, and everything worked well together. Based on that, I'd expect the rest of the menu to be consistent, even if it's not trying to reinvent the wheel. Service Service was efficient, especially considering how busy it was. No complaints here... you can tell the staff knows how to handle a full house and keep things moving. Ambience This is where the place stands out. The vibe feels like a food network designed a biker bar, but in a fun, not over-the-top way. It's also apparently a Kansas City Chiefs bar, which adds to the identity. There was a live band playing early 2000s rock hits, which kept the energy up. Crowd was friendly overall, very much a neighborhood crowd. Overall This isn't a destination bar, but it's a really solid go-to if you live nearby. My boyfriend and I ate at the Rooster Tavern after an event in Scottsdale. We went on a Friday evening around 6pm. The restaurant was busy but we were seated without a wait. The parties behind us were given wait times, so I do think Friday is one of their busier nights. The inside of the restaurant is eclectic and uniquely decorated. Our server was friendly but wasn't super attentive. Probably given how busy it was. For food we started with the Chicken Wings. These were actually really good - charred perfectly from the grill. We got them sauced with Buffalo. For entrees we both got the AYCE Fish Fry. Fries were excellent, fish was okay, coleslaw was terrible. To be fair, I don't like 90% of coleslaw's; but this one was especially unenjoyable. There is an undertone of sweetness which I believe is from some sort of fruit in there. The fries really were excellent. Perfectly crispy and craveable. The fish was okay. It tasted good but the pieces I got leaned slightly soggy. I think they could have benefited from a little longer in the fryer. The AYCE applies to the fish only. The fries and coleslaw are not part of the deal. Overall it was good but could improve. Me and the fam stopped by for an afternoon lunch. The sign said seat yourself and chose outside some the interior very much a bar atmosphere, dark and smells like beer. The outside booths were comfortable. The menu was very appealing with lots of great options. A kids menu would be nice though. Two of us ordered the "all you can eat" fish fry. I had a burger with sweet potato fries. The food arrived a little slow we thought, but once it did arrive everyone was pretty pleased on first impression. The burger was pretty good, like the char taste. I did wish it was juicier, it was a bit dry even with the Boursin sauce and sauteed onions. The sweet potato fries were superb with an impeccable crispy texture. The fish and chips also were a hit with 3 crispy fingers of battered white cod and delicious crispy fries and cole slaw. Why it's a 3 and not 5: There was a bit of weirdness about the all you can eat part: first the waitress never came back around to ask how everything was and to check if we wanted seconds, we had to call her over. One of us opted for seconds while the other felt satisfied with the first order and passed. It took nearly the same time as waiting the first time for the seconds to arrive. The wait staff returned with EXACTLY 2 fish fingers in the middle of the otherwise empty rectangular steel tray and presented it with a hilarious enthusiasm. While my son gladly polished them off and had no complaints, I need found it oddly stingy for an AYCE. We had to flag them down, they didn't ask how many fish pieces he wanted, or if he wanted more fries. And I don't recall seeing an asterisk with a clause that reads "*all you can eat means fish only, served 2 additional pieces at a time. On request only." Could a hungrier customer receive all they can eat? We will never know. I think the staff should be more proactive and communicate what's going on. The impression I'm left with is that the Rooster has a sort of fake all you can eat thing and it would be better to not call it that because that isn't what the experience was at all. read more

What a hidden gem. Stumbled across this place while staying in the area. Food is great. Stop in on Rib night, Meaty and the BBQ sauce is barbecueee, that is what Cody the bartender told me when I asked. He was right. We sat at the bar and enjoyed talking to Cody and staff. They treated us great. One night there was a live band and they played great music. Drinks are great there a they have an awesome selection of bourbon and the prices are fair. We are not in this area often but we were craving bar food. Their menu offers a lot of tempting appetizers and entrees. The Hubbs opted for the Bousin burger which was cooked perfectly to order with sweet potato fries. I was indecisive and asked for a cup of the Pork chili stew and the poutine with shredded beef. They brought a bowl with three tortillas and then I was too full to do more than taste the poutine. The stew was decent, but not anything I would order again - they grilled the tortillas in some kind of oil so they were greasy. The poutine also has the Boursin cheese so it's very rich. It was good, but just too much. Charlie was our server and he was a delight but must have gotten busy inside so we had to wait quite awhile for refills and our bill. The patio furniture is very nice and comfortable but the nearby airport noise made it noisy. Overall a nice stop. read more

A fun happening place! We had the all you can eat fish place for lent. Good and fast! Certainly enough for my husband and I. We sat at the bar and were very well taken care of by the team of three competent bartenders! I like The Rooster Tavern, and feel it lives up to its "luxury dive bar" moniker. Service is on point, and the environment is cool and feels genuine. Prices seem entirely reasonable. What hold it back from 5-stars is the inconsistency of the menu. Some things are spectacular, like the pork stew (omg try this!), and sliders, while some things are barely edible (chili cheese crisp, and fried ravioli I'm looking at you). I came here after the waste management open on a Saturday night. It was very busy but I snagged a spot at the bar. Being that it was a full bar and restaurant the bartender was so attentive and made sure we were taken care of. We ordered the chicken sandwich and wings and they were SO GOOD. The grilled wings were the best I highly recommend them. The bartender was on top of our drinks and constantly refilling our water. Pretty cool place. It was a kind of slow when I went there on a Tuesday afternoon. The barbacoa tacos are the bomb there. Jason is a great waiter and gave us some really good ideas to eat. Been coming here for years and this is my favorite hidden dive bar in Scottsdale! Food is delicious! Wings are good. I absolutely love the chicken bites and the French dip is delicious! Burgers are good and my new favorite cocktail is the frozen espresso martini! You have to try it! Service is sometimes a little on the slower side and hard to park on Sundays because of the church traffic in the strip mall. Always games on and they have live music all the time! A hole in the wall tavern with one of the best Rueben sandwich's I've had at a bar! The meat was real shaved corned beef and not deli, which I think should be noted! Came with seasoned fries which were good as well and I didn't ask, but the ketchup tasted fresh made. I ordered a 7 and 7, took a little while to grab someone's attention. Gentleman running bar had a little heavy hand on the pour and quite frankly that's my type of bartender! This bar has the vibes. Television for sports, rustic western feel with Texas rodeo ambiance. They had a small stage for live music as well, but the place is small and homey feeling. Used to love coming here but unsure if we will be returning. The bar tender working the night we went was extremely rude to multiple people in the group. When I was unsure of something, instead of explaining it nicely, he wouldn't even turn around to answer me; he would do it with his back facing me. However none of our food had much flavor..The smash burger wasn't smashed, just a regular burger. The pork street tacos had no flavor. The turkey wrap was just ok. The fries were great if you like crispy outsides. We probably won't come back or will find somewhere else to watch the game too many other great options in Scottsdale. My husband had dinner recently at "The Rooster Tavern" while visiting in Scottsdale. My husband had a chicken and rice bowl (cannot remember exact name) but he said it was good. I had the Green Chili Stew and it was one of the best outside the stars of New Mexico. Margaritas were good but they are know for frozen espresso martini which I unfortunately did not try.
