The food was interesting and delicious; my new favorite dish to top the corn pudding was their scallop dish. The duck and wagyu were also delicious, I found the pineapple kimchi with shiso a pairing I would have never combined with wagyu but it totally worked. I went here for a Christmas dinner celebration and did the 10 course meal with wine pairing. The ambiance here is-- amazing. We sat on the patio and it was so, so beautiful. The weather was perfect but got chillier as we started so they turned on the heat lamp which was too warm for my other half, so they switched it out with a personal leg warmer. They do go above and beyond to be accommodating. We started with espresso martinis and relaxed for a bit prior to starting the meal. They do have 3 levels of wine pairings: $295, premiere $750, or grand cru $1500 (this does not include the meal which was an additional $295 the night we attended. We opted for the premiere wine pairing. Robert was our server, who is also a sommelier, which I loved a lot. He was able to go above and beyond in the discussion of the vineyards, winemakers, and back stories of the wines. Of the 10 wines, there was only one I didn't prefer but I typically prefer red wines (or champagne) over white. Overall, this was my favorite wine pairing I've done. The food: everything was beautifully presented and I really enjoyed every course. They were well balanced and great flavors. I was really excited about the lobster corn pudding and it didn't disappoint. It was an amazing twist on a classic that I've been craving (being from the Midwest originally). The seafood dishes were all very good and it was my first time trying veal sweetbreads as well. The cheese was a little heavy for me and I thought it washed out the flavor of the truffle a bit, and the second duo of the elk bbq I could also pass on. Ending with the A5 filet was perfect. I was very full by the time desserts came out but loved the uber dessert was different. The lemon poppy seed dessert was beautiful and was good (citrus desserts are typically my favorite) but didn't overly stand out in comparison to the rest of the menu. I was really hoping to give this 5stars but I just cannot. I'm not saying don't try this restaurant - the food was decent, the staff was excellent, and the courtyard was beautiful.... But I was disappointed. This was my second time at Reserve- sister to Cafe Monarch. We went for Valentine's Day and it was just not worth it. The flavor just was not there overall. Lamb had zero seasoning, the caviar was drenched in cream, and the wagyu - although perfectly cooked was lacking salt and served with a short rib drenched in overpowering gravy that ran into the Wagyu. This was $395 per person..... I had no complaints to my boyfriend that paid for it but I just don't think I will recommend this restaurant again. I really expected to be wowed like I have been in the past at Cafe Monarch- it just was not there. My feedback to the reserve last time was to not serve the Wagyu in sauce and it is the same this time. If the dishes are going to be under seasoned - then provide salts on the table.... OK, first off, yes this place is expensive. It might even be a once in a lifetime experience for many. But please understand me when I say it is so, so worth it. It's expensive for the quality of ingredients and the amount of courses, yes, but also the sheer artistry of each dish. I tried to imagine me making this menu at home for guests and tapped out after the first course. Everything is so detailed, so incredibly thought out that once you realize this you understand why the price is what it is. Also, the service was impeccable. Everything was described in detail and we were never left waiting more than a minute for the finished course to be whisked away and the next one presented. It felt very much like an old school dinner party at someones house. Speaking of that, the place itself is designed to be very comfortable, almost like you are at someones house. We sat on the outdoor patio, which was beautifully appointed with comfortable chairs, lanterns, candles - so beautiful and romantic. Now there is a 5 course option and a 10 course option and you are definitely going to want the 10 course. Reason being, you are missing out on some phenomenal dishes if you choose the 5. The menu for the day we were there: - Parade of Canapes, chef's selection. In short, our 10 course dinner with wine pairings last night at Reserve was absolutely outstanding, a true culinary experience blending incredible flavors in food and wine. Through the course of our evening we were repeatedly wowed and there were a couple of twists and turns that further elevated things. With our final savory course there was a totally unexpected and incredibly creative surprise. To call it mind blowing would not be a stretch. I won't tell you what it is because the surprise is part of the experience. In advance, the restaurant discreetly and professionally communicated with me about some allergen concerns and then totally accommodated them despite a blurb somewhere online that says they cannot do so. Alleviating these concerns made for a much more enjoyable experience for my wife. I have had only a small number of truly memorable culinary experiences in my adult life. One standout was my first experience at Cafe Monarch. Last night's meal at Reserve will go down as one of the best I've ever had as well. This was an anniversary dinner for my wife and I. Yes, we were there for more than 4 hours. Did it ever get boring? Heck no. In fact in discussing it today, we agreed that it felt more like 2 hours! In my opinion, when planning to dine in a place of this caliber, I don't want things to be rushed, I want to be able to fully enjoy the experience. My husband surprised me for our 12 year anniversary. I will share a little of my experience, but you need to book this place to truly know how well thought out it is. I must say from the moment we walked in this adorable quaint place, I felt like I was in the middle of the forest like Hansel and gretal, lol. There are simply not enough stars, and not enough superlatives, to describe the experience at Reserve. The food was exquisite, and inventively plated and presented. I did not want to interrupt the experience by taking pictures, but attached a few. The service was amazing: elegance in all ways, yet without being pretentious. Sam is more than a Master Sommelier. He provided perfect pairings and matched the courses to our wine preferences - effortlessly recommending wines that have become our new obsessions (such as the Nerello Mascalese). Sam had extraordinary knowledge and understanding- if you live wine, put yourself in his hands and enjoy the ride! The courtyard setting was magical, especially after dusk. I honestly cannot come up with any notable flaws for the evening. Michelin 2 star quality, without doubt. We love tasting menus and generally try to find a restaurant with one whenever we are celebrating a special occasion or traveling, so when we ended up staying home for Thanksgiving (oh corona), we decided to give the new Reserve a shot. We actually had not made our way to Cafe Monarch yet but had heard good things - after dining at Reserve, Cafe Monarch is definitely next on our list! From the initial cocktail and amuse bouche in the gorgeous lounge to dining out under the stars on the romantic patio, Reserve is a 5 star experience. I'm not going to spoil the surprises on the menu, but I'll just say that it covers a large number of cuisines. Each dish was wonderfully plated and filled with flavor. Reserve also has a KILLER wine list; shout out to however sampled all those wines and decided to put them on the menu, because his/her liver is definitely dead. I enjoyed this meal for so many reasons. First, we dined outside of a quaint little house, in a courtyard that reminded me of being in New Orleans. And I love New Orleans. Second, all of the waitstaff were accommodating and professional, while not being too stuffy. I enjoyed the presentation of the food. Third, the food was really beautiful. I agree that I've been to many Michelin star tastings and this could easily be rated as such. There were a few courses that tasted a bit sweet to me, but that could've just been my palate that day. Reserve is not just a restaurant; it's an experience, and much like it's big sister, next door, Cafe Monarch, it's a feast for the senses and for the palate; a place that you come to splurge and be filled with decadence from start to finish. This isn't a restaurant that you come to and hope to rush out in an hour or so, after all it's a minimum of 8-10 courses and each are meant to be savored. Reserve came to our knowledge last year while we were dining at Cafe Monarch and it was then that we made a reservation for this year's splurge on our anniversary. The fall is the perfect time to dine at Reserve as dining is in an open courtyard under neath the Arizona sky and one would not even know they are in the land of what is known as loud, raucous , "Old Town". The valet takes you as you drive up, although we have never driven to either restaurant knowing we would have lots of wines!, it is complimentary. You are then shown to the Maitre'd for seating. We came a bit early hoping to have a pre dinner drink, but the bar is tiny and we were shown immediately to our table almost 45 min. early and we were fine with that as the courtyard is amazingly beautiful with candles for it's lighting. Even in the wind our small hurricane lamp continued to blow out over and over and it was relit over and over. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne to start our anniversary celebration. We were told of the menu which would be 10 courses over the evening. My husband had worked out my allergies with the staff earlier in the week; and as a tip if you are dining here, I would recommend doing that as their site does state they can not accommodate dietary restrictions. They could, however and they did, with prior notice and I seriously appreciated that, as there were 3 courses in the evening that had parts of things I am allergic to. The menu changes through the seasons and tonight our menu would be a fusion of Asian influence meets French. We were wow'd over and over starting with an Amuse Bouche of Oyster on it's shell and a mignonette sea foam over gold leaf. Since we did decide to do the wine pairings, ($300 pp) this would come with a gran cru vintage champagne. IF you choose to not do the wine pairing with the dinner, fear not, there are 4000 wines in the impressive wine list that you can choose from and they have a price point of about $150 to over $3000 per bottle. The sommelier IN me was even taken aback and trust me, I would love to have taken this wine list that almost seems like an educational wine series on each region/wine/varietal in it's hefty leather bound cover! The second canapé was one of my favorites: a foie gras eclair! I could have feasted on this for the rest of my life! The 3rd course was presented first with a sea salt mist salt candle to give the aroma of the sea over the Hiramosa 'Al Pastor' served with chopsticks and amongst a milky sauce with Preserved Pinepple and Crispy Masa. Nextly, a Sablefish with Gold Oseteria Caviar arrives. Amazing! There were many stand outs in this lengthy decadent meal but one is presented with white gloves in a humidor box: out came a large black truffle to be shaved over the Koshihikari &Wild Rice .. super impressive to watch and the aroma of a fresh truffle is something the olfactory never forgets! Then a palate cleanser arrives of what is called a French 75..BUT it's in the form of sorbet! Frozen gin and Meyer lemon make your mouth wake up for even more decadence to come. Our night ended with an impressive dessert and Port course, there were two desserts , mind you and mine was made for me as my husbands was a Sesame dessert ; mine was a Chocolate Torte with Strawberry Caviar and Framboise Sorbet and followed by a box presented with different hand made petit fours. Our staff was all amazing; taking the time to present and explain each of the courses one by one and they present in sync which is classy. Little touches are added like if you go to the restroom , which is small, beautiful and very clean , you return to your napkin re folded and your white tablecloth free of any debris like crumbs! We loved our sommelier who we recognized from Cafe Monarch; he had a great sense of humor while chatting about the wines and explaining them and their aromas and palate. He even re filled our glass on course 7 or 8 when we fell in love with the Cabernet served with the duck and waygu course. There is no rush when you dine here, this is decadence and it is not cheap and no one will make you feel that you need to hurry so they can turn the table. Don't come here on a budget and come here expecting amazingness. This is a minimum $285 plate dinner. When you make a reservation, make it early and you will be required to place a deposit. I can't say enough and I love that we have a restaurant , (now 2!) , that is deserving of a Michelin Star here. This past Saturday, 9 Oct 2021, I dined at Reserve. It was an amazing dining experience. It was a 14 course Chef's tasting menu. Each bite was delightful and delicious. As you can guess by the price, it's very high-end service. The utensils are changed per course. The courses are all brought to the table at the same time and there are the same number of servers as there are diners at the table. It's a very small venue with intimate seating - but since dining is set up in the open air courtyard, I felt safe dining at Reserve. I really enjoyed the Royal Osetra Caviar and the Corn pudding. The dishes are all very lightly seasoned and emphasizes the natural flavor of the ingredients of the dish. One of the courses currently is the Huitlacoche Tamale which is accentuated with shaved truffles. The server brings out the truffles in a beautiful wooden box and shows the diners the truffles. This was very impressive. Although the website says, "Dietary restrictions cannot be accommodated" they were kind enough to ask about allergies and did make a different stuffing for my tamale. Service: The hostess was great. Let us sit down 30 minutes before our reservation. Our waiter and waitress were phenomenal and explained every course in detail. Our waiter had a sense of humor which is very nice to see in a five star establishment. Drinks: The specialty drinks menu was small, but they did have a full bar. First tried the Rolls Royce. It was perfect. Second I tired the Duke of Earl. This was even better than the Rolls Royce. Highly recommend it. Wife got the Reserve Gin and Tonic and didn't like it. I tried it myself and tasting boring. Not sure what else to expect from Gin and Tonic. Food: This was a 14-course meal. Overall, not bad, 4/5. There were a few course that weren't my cup of tea. You go to the Reserve from the experience so be open minded. What was my least favorite course? The squab. What was my favorite course? The corn pudding. Reserve compares at this level and in some cases exceeds in the entire experience. The flavors of each paring were on point. Our Somalia Sam was a master in his craft and complimented Chefs Lewkowicz, Wald and Britos creations! A 14 course experience that has prompted me to start planning a trip back to Scottsdale with 2 other couples. Vincent, Darin, and Sasha were amongst the team that enhanced the level of service to ensure our every expectation was exceeded. The garden in which we dinner was reminiscent of an old French or Spaniard village. We were surrounded by beautiful plants, Fountains, classic chandeliers and candles. I celebrated my anniversary with my wife and another couple. We had a wonderful evening. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. This is truly an event. We were there for 4 hours. It makes for a very fun evening. We have dined at 11 Madison Park in New York, a 3 star Michelin restaurant, and the Reserve reminded me of that experience in many ways. Got a great Christmas gift of a dinner at Reserve. I was quite excited as I have been wanting to visit for some time now. Firstly, the outdoor patio is wonderful. It does a great job as being an escape from the outside world. Even with the busy streets, only the loudest vehicle noises come through. Lovely plants and tees surround the courtyard with plenty of heaters, a nice fountain and perfectly level music. Overall, the meal was wonderful. The dishes were all lovely. There were great flavors and interesting presentations on all dishes. The one thing that wasn't evident was the use of local products. Possibly, but not evident or mentioned. We have it 4 stars because there were a number of minor to mid-level issues with service and service-related items. -service-related: we were handed a huge wine catalog which was sticky and with pages falling out of it. It's 2023-invest in a tablet with the wine list!! The menu for the evening was in such small font, it is pretty much unreadable because there is so little light-not a huge deal; but would have been nice to read. -service: the service assistant was quite unfriendly and condescending; plus really did not know much about the meal and such. A couple of times out wine glasses were empty and we had to wait for someone to come buy to put because the wine was place a few feet away-finally, we just asked for the wine to be placed right near the table and we will pour ourselves. For customers, you need to be specific if you order a cocktail, as we got surprised when we ordered a simple cocktail and a very high end liquor was used turning it into a $50 drink--that was really sketchy and underhanded!! At the end of the meal it would have been a nice touch to be presented with an after-dinner drink list of ports/sherries/etc.--but no, we were brought a few chocolates and the bill; almost as if they were hinting that it was time for us to leave. The one main kudos goes to the great service from one of the "food-servers" who came by to slice truffles and more on a couple of dishes...he explained everything excellently and with great enthusiasm. My boyfriend and I came here for our two year anniversary and we had an incredible experience. We had the five course meal in the courtyard--which, even in the winter, was comfortable and heated perfectly. Before coming I read the reviews praising the ambiance and now I'm here to say I completely agree. The music was beautiful and at a perfect volume and all tables were nicely spaced out. They offered to change our linens from white to black and our cards were personalized to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we arrived, the valets were respectful, the host warm and welcoming, and all of our servers were entertaining, elegant, and helpful. The five courses complimented each other well and took our taste buds on a journey. It was so fun trying new things! We also got an anniversary dessert afterwards and complementary banana bread. Everything was delicious, even foods that are not generally my favorite such as mushrooms. To get right to it, this place will be getting a Michelin star or 2 in the near future. I have dined at many michelin star restaurants before (3 to be exact haha) and Reserve is head and shoulders ahead of them in all aspects. Very diverse menu that covered everything you could possibly want. Although everything was great I could have done without the Tamale and the Pierogi which leads me to my 1 complaint... I left really full. Not really a complaint but I am usually left wanting more at other fine dining places, but not here. I would compare the Reserve to French Laundry but 3x better. This is the more casual but no less impressive and enjoyable than its bigger brother across the street, Cafe Monarch. Same amazing world class service as cafe monarch which is the best in Arizona and right up there with the best in the county. The food is the highest quality that can be found. The execution is perfect and the setting is absolutely stunning. The most beautiful lunch setting I've seen in AZ. It's romantic and comfortable. The burger I had was flawless and exceeded my expectations. Never had pork belly with a Nieman ranch beef patty before between a soft, fresh brioche like bun. definitely have to go here to take your mom. If you are looking for an experience, a truly high class experience, Reserve is a must. It is a 10-12 multi course prix fix menu (I believe ours was 11 or 12). From the moment we entered we were a priority and attended to meticulously. We had the amuse and cocktails in the lounge and then moved into the courtyard for our dining experience. We were with friends who had specific dietary restrictions and the kitchen did not miss a beat and gave them the same world-class attention with quality ingredients and plating. Each course was the right size, was timed perfectly, and presented elegantly. We got a bottle of wine and a few wine pairings which only elevated the experience. Sam was engaged with us the entire night offering his explanations of our wines and global musings about the restaurant, staff, wine, etc. The entire team is talented and the food, ambience, and service is a testament to their commitment to excellence and quality. I would go back weekly if I could; for us, it is a special occasion type place only because of the price point. We'll be back, hopefully much sooner than later. Unequivocally the best restaurant in Phoenix! I have lived as an adult in Arizona for 29 years. I've been fortunate to partake in some of the best restaurants in town, from the Mastro's and 44's, to Vincent's and the new Nobu. All great restaurants. Yet none compare to this... Café Monarch was already one of our favorite places, and even that doesn't compare to this. The ambience and service are spectacular, but the food is truly special. They are so fortunate to have found a young chef from a three star Michelin restaurant, and that training clearly shows! Hands-down the best meal we have had in this state, and rivals any email we have had nationally. I highly recommend a long evening at this restaurant! read more

We went for our birthday, The food was outstanding, and service was average however we definitely got conned by the waiter for the wine. He kept suggesting wine that was 'appropriate' for our meal we only had 2 glasses but the total bill came to $900 for 2 people. I understand this place is classy but beware because the waiter will try to up charged you with the wine. Would not recommend honestly. I wish I never went. read more

I had the pleasure of dining at Reserve opening night October 22, 2020. After being wowed on numerous occasions at Café Monarch, I was pleasantly surprised to have my expectations exceeded at Reserve! The entire experience from start to finish was exquisite! You are guided through an intimate journey starting with the Amuse Bouche and cocktails in the "lounge" that is beautifully decorated giving off an old-world feel. You proceed to the outdoor patio to begin the tasting menu experience. From the onset, you are eating the highest quality food and each course was better than the last. Additionally, I believe prix fixe tasting menus should always include dessert and I was pleasantly surprised by Reserve's Culinary team's offerings. For me, the wine pairing was a necessary add on and again, it was over the top. I love that that sommelier chose a heavily French influenced pairing based on Chef Ben's formal training in Paris (he was kind enough to tell us about his background), and the wines they included demanded respect from people with significant wine knowledge.
