CJ was an incredible server. He made A++ food recommendation and made sure my son and I had the best dinner experience EVER. The spicy bacon wrapped shrimp and spicy Tuna were to die for. My son has the Mongolian spare ribs which were some of the best I've had. And the pasta was . Finished off the night with 2 deserts that hit the spot. Can't wait to come back on Saturday for brunch with CJ. read more

My wife and I recently went to dinner at Culinary Dropout. We got there early before our reservation and decided to sit at the bar for drinks before dinner. Once we sat down, the bartender was pleasant and very helpful, and drinks were prepared rather quickly. We had a favorable experience at the table when ordering food, and the host stand was able to seat us very quickly. The service was wonderful though the food was just okay. Even so, we enjoy Culinary Dropout and plan to return again another day. When we were seated, our server quickly identified herself. We ordered Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue as an appetizer. They arrived and were good though the pretzels could have been warmer! We then ordered a Roasted Salmon & a M.A.C. Burger with fries as our entrees. They also showed up rather quickly and the entrees were tasty. The fries on the other hand were barely warm, so they were sent back for a new batch which were hot and delicious. We finally ordered Monkey Bread for dessert, which came out well though the bread itself could have been warmer. It was still yummy. The staff made good rapport including the servers, managers, and bartenders. A manager also stopped by to greet us and to ask how our meal was, which is always appreciated. He also helped us refill our fries. We also enjoyed the DJ that was playing music near where we were sitting. This particular location is open Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 10 PM, Friday from 11 AM to 12 Midnight, Saturday from 10 AM to 12 Midnight, and Sunday from 10 AM to 10 PM. They also serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 3 PM and have happy hour on weekdays from 2 PM to 5 PM. The happy hour menu includes discounted snacks, long afternoon iced teas, 1st things first shots, classic drinks, and draught beer specials. If you go to the Culinary Dropout website (https://www.culinarydropout.com), you can sometimes get a $20 bonus promo gift card for every $100 in gift cards you buy (or more at Black Friday). Also, in addition to the live music we heard, you can enjoy sports TVs, local bars, and other special events at Culinary Dropout. Also, if you sign up for their Ebites (https://www.culinarydropout.com/ebites-email-signup), you will get a coupon for $10 off a $20 purchase and get notified about special events and offers. read more

Atmosphere is verrryyy laid back- can be hard to find a waiter, but makes it comfy, LOUD. Even before the DJ starts at 7pm. Also not sure if the bathroom AC is broke but it's like a sauna in the restroom. Appetizers: pretzel and cheese and nachos- Both DELISH! No complaints. Main dish: French dip, Korean BBQ rib both SSSOOOOOO good- amazing. Dessert: monkey bread- it was like monkey bread and apple pie had a baby. SCRUMPTIOUS. If you have allergies- the menu is not helpful- the staff was iffy on if dishes had gluten etc but they did their best and were kind. read more

Huge portions, Great food and great service. Fantastic spot for a Date night or out with friends.

How fun is this place! You can definitely tell the energy level here is electric. Chose this place for a GCU college graduation dinner party and it was wonderful. Our table was ready. The server was delightful and hard-working. Made many suggestions that were perfect for our guest. Everyone enjoyed their dinner with enough food to share Drinks paired well. And even as we left, parking would've been amazingly difficult, but the valet did a wonderful job read more

Out of state relative was staying at the Phoenician and Culinary Dropout was a easy dinner. Party of six, no reservation. Hostess, great. We were sat immediately and approached by our waiter for drinks. Service is really the only reason for more than one star. Ordered the pretzels to share with non-alcoholic drinks all around. They do have great pretzels. Recommend. Entrees ordered. Two short ribs, one chicken katsu, one burger, one 36 hr pork ribs, a turkey Pastrami. Food took about 15 minutes. Average wait time. They were busy. The food fell short on all levels. Katsu had way to much hoisin sauce, it was sickly sweet and couldn't be scraped off because the slaw had mixed in. Only positive was the bread was grilled perfectly and the thin chicken breast crispy. Pork ribs void of any flavor other then the sauce. They were very tender. Another positive. Burger, average, short ribs, again way to sweet and bok choy very hard to chew. Pastrami was good. The fries on all entrees so over cooked they were hollow on the inside and basically shattered when bitten. Culinary Dropout used to be a great affordable dining option. It now just feels like an overpriced, hyped up chain experience. Which I guess it is since Fox Restaurants sold to Cheesecake Factory. So many other dining options in the area. If you are looking for drinks and starters with good service, this is the spot. Pass on the entrees. read more

Culinary dropout did not disappoint and was very busy even for a weekday. They had live music and a fun crowd. We were able to get a seat at the bar. I recommend the pretzels and fondue. We also shared the prime rib dip and they even gave us separate plates with everything split in half. read more

This is generally okay food but at ridiculous prices. Let's assume that there's a premium for location but this is well above that premium. Ellen was our server and she was fantastic, in fact the best part of our experience. We ordered the Caesar salad with chicken ($7 up charge) and the turkey pastrami sandwich with fries and two waters. A glass of cola was more than $5. The portions weren't generous (see the pictures) and each was just okay. The pastrami was mostly flavorless and the main flavor came from the slaw. The Caesar was nicely garlicky with a rather small amount of chicken. Our bill with tip was over $55. Yeow! One other thing worth mentioning is that as you'd expect , parking can be a challenge. read more

Our group really enjoyed our first visit to Culinary Dropout. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was truly delicious. The kitchen clearly knows what they're doing, and the "fashionably grunge" vibe of the place makes for a fun, energetic atmosphere. However, it is definitely on the more expensive side. For our small group of friends, the bill came to $300 before tip. While the quality of the food and the cool Scottsdale Quarter environment are top-notch, it's certainly a "splurge" spot rather than a casual weekly hangout. Great for a celebration or a fancy night out, just be prepared for the price tag! read more

Walked in with a party of five and we sat outside with no wait. It was a very cute restaurant and our server was attentive and nice! My friends got the Paloma spritzers and enjoyed it, the white sangria was also delicious. The main kicker was my friend's turkey pastrami sandwich with a pretzel bun, omg so yummy!!! I got the spinach and strawberry salad with chicken which would've been a knockout but it oddly enough has a LOT of romaine in it? And hardly any spinach ... but doesn't say that on the menu so that's odd but it was still good! Lots of dill leaves too. Still yummy, I'd go again! read more

5 stars across the board!! Drinks were phenomenal, food was even better but what made our time so enjoyable was CJ. It was just ok, I'm actually kind of bummed that we left the other spot after sunset (drinks and apps) to have dinner here bc the other place was SO GOOD but we heard (and read) that Culinary Dropout was a must do. I'd skip it next time. The place was packed, they were out of a lot (including glassware), and the food was just ok- some of the items were even NOT good. Not worth the drive into town, not worth a wait if they're on a wait, and I'd skip on my next visit. read more

We had such a great time having brunch here and watching the final World Cup match. Limited brunch menu but I loved the hash bowl and my boyfriend really enjoyed his egg white bowl. Our server (Anne-Marie?) was lovely and very attentive throughout our visit. I don't think of Culinary Dropout as a sports bar, but it had a great vibe for the game, FIFA themed cocktails, and TVs everywhere. Did not have the pretzels with cheese fondue this time, but that is usually my must-have at CD. read more

I ordered the wings, and the server mentioned there would be 10, but only 7 came. I thought they were a bit undercooked and politely asked if they could be cooked a little more--not asking for anything free or a replacement--but was told, "they're like this because of the blood vein; it's normal to see a little pink." It made me feel a bit silly, like I didn't know what I was talking about. He didn't offer to replace them or do anything until I was left sitting there awkwardly, and then asked if he could "do anything," which I had literally just told him. The steak and frites were okay, and the beers weren't bad, but the whole interaction left a sour taste in my mouth. Atmosphere-wise, it's lively and fun--lots of groups hanging out, and the outdoor mist fans are a nice touch for cooling down. read more

First time at this location. Walked across from the mall parking about 4pm on a Sunday. The hostess got us seated outside and let us know we had to be done by 630p for a reservation. I like that she was upfront and she got us seated quickly. We were hungry as hell lol Rib cap was so good. I've had it at a the Tempe location and it didn't disappoint here. Also tried the spicy rigatoni which was good but probably won't order that again. It was too sweet for me. Sauce was good sausage was what I think made it sweet. Waiter was attentive with our waters and the check. Pigs in a blanket were so yummy! Juicy piggies and flakey blankey. The ambiance is upscale but still relaxed. It has that industrial-chic vibe with warm lighting, a cute chandelier outside, and a busy bar that makes it feel lively but not overwhelming. read more

Great meal before heading back to California. So glad we decided to come to this location. CJ made our dining journey even better. This is a fun and lively restaurant. Its great for groups. The steak frites is phenomenal. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and the black truffle butter was a nice touch. Relaxed, slightly upscale restaurant near Scottsdale Old Town presenting also live music, for example, during Saturday brunch at 11am-2pm. I ordered a brunch item with slow cooked pork, fried potatos, and sunny side up egg. It came with a grill-warmed flour tortilla, and it was all good, as was the coffee. Although there was no specialty coffees such as cappuccino, nor hot chocolate, we enjoyed throughout listening to a great, small band playing country rock. Noting that this place can be rather crowded, we agreed that our prior table reservation was a very good idea. Friendly service and decent prices. We will be back soon. read more

Dined at Culinary Dropout Easter Sunday while visiting with friends. Truly enjoyed our server, CJ as he greets us with a warm welcome and detailed recommendations, along with Nicole who made some for activities in the area. We enjoyed the weather on the patio. As some of you already know I'm deadly allergic to all peppers, especially chiles. We got seared outside at a high top, such a lovely day for it. My friends ordered the Salmon ( nothing left over !), the other person ordered the Mongolian beef, which I couldn't taste. I ordered the fish & chips, feeling safe with my choice. Sadly for me, the batter had...yep, red pepper in the batter. First bite I knew the fish had chili of some type. Service from Abby was really good, nice personality, and attentive. Great combo and high ten to her! So I couldn't eat my fish & chips because the first bite set my mouth on fire. I asked Abby if there was any chili peppers in the batter: yes, there were red peppers. Ok so I didn't complain but did explain my allergy and why I carry either a necklace or a wrist band with my conditions. Abby was understanding, and then Kyle, the general manager, came out to our table. I explained my allergy and he was very pleasant and understanding too: I was going to order the meatloaf but was warned it had peppers.. I never want to be a problem but with an allergy as severe as mine is, I have to be extra careful here in AZ. Kyle was really nice, coming out to talk with me and understood my situation; so we went through some dishes and in the end I ordered fries with only salt. (Very good fries! ) Both dishes ordered by my friends looked amazing, I wish I could've tasted both :) It was a nice satisfying lunch, we were all satiated and happy with the orders and the cocktails we all had. I can't thank Kyle enough for taking the time to come over and discuss my food options. Abby was so nice and friendly too: great combo in service! I know we'll be back read more

When you have people in town, where do you take them? We always find a way to come here because it's a fun atmosphere and everyone seems to find something on the menu they like. We like all the locations, but our favorite time to go is during restaurant week because it's a great deal to try multiple things on the menu and have dinner with friends. They have the best charcuterie and pretzel bites. Trust me! If you like to gamble a few bucks and don't mind drinking crappy beer, they have a "brown bag" beer option that's a mystery. We never order that because it's something we're not quite young enough for anymore (palate is more refined), but we think it's fun when others do. Who doesn't like a mystery! Service is usually great and no complaints there. read more

Trinity, the hostess was great. We arrived an hour early for our reservation of 8 at 6:00 pm. and had 2 elderly people with us. We thought they would just have us wait in the bar, but Trinity was kind enough to seat us. She also made sure we had comfortable chairs for my mom and her friend. Lucy the waitress is fantastic. She had great recommendations. The Endless summer margarita is great. The little Mez Daisy is not my favorite, but I should've known that when I ordered it and she said it had Mezcal, so that's my own fault. Around the table we had the Mongolian ribeye cap, meatloaf, fish and chips, the MAC burger, and a couple of other things. EVERYTHING was fantastic. No one had any complaints about any of the food. As it got busier, of course, it was louder and more difficult to hear everyone around the table, but that's to be expected. Will definitely come back!! read more

Second time here and the atmosphere is definitely fun but loud. Our waiter I could barely hear when he was mentioning menu items, so we just smiled and selected something per our interests. Toddler ordered (shockingly) the Mac and cheese which was actually delicious. It came with a side of apple slices which he devoured. Husband ordered the MAC Burger and said it was a 7.5/10 because it wasn't extraordinary but also wasn't the worst. I ordered the fried chicken plate, the chicken was fried just enough that the skin was very crispy. I loved the seasonings they used in the chicken skin. The mashed potatoes were very chunky though, and food wasn't freshly hot. The amount of chicken you get is quite a lot and I didn't touch the coleslaw because I'm not a fan of it. My favorite part was the biscuit, it was soft and not dried out at all! I'd give the plate a 7/10. read more

Great vibes and decent bar type food. A group of friends came here for late lunch around 3 PM surprisingly still pretty packed. Culinary dropout is located near Scottsdale Mall, has a cool bar vibe with table and high top seating. We got the pretzels to share ($17) and I got the breakfast bowl ($14). The pretzels were warm and cheese sauce wasn't overly spicy, nothing special. My breakfast bowl was good portion the chipotle yogurt was a bit spicy and filling.
