The only downside is that the chorizo was a bit too greasy and oily - I know chorizo leans that way, but the pendulum swung a little too far into oily (it was dripping outside of the burrito) for what I would expect from an elevated restaurant like Prado. I recently stayed at the Omni, Montelucia Scottsdale, and had the opportunity to enjoy breakfast, the bar, and dinner at Prado. My favorite breakfast is the chicken sausage hash. It has wonderful flavor. If you are part of the Omni select guest program, you get a card for a complementary drink. I joined a couple of friends at the bar one night and had a glass of white wine. Another night we sat at a smaller counter area that was like a bar, but looked into the open fire cooking area that they have. The Chef interacted with us and we watched her make several dishes, including ours. I had the octopus and it was very tender and tasty. As a starter, we shared the Shishido peppers with a saffron aïoli. For dessert, we enjoyed the bread pudding. If you are in the area, we're staying at this hotel. It is worthy of a visit. read more

I travel all over the country for work and stay in beautiful hotels all the time. While I didn't stay at the hotel (although now I will!), I spent a beautiful evening on the grounds and ate at Prado. This was a THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE experience from the time I walked in where a friendly hostess greeted me, so patient as I decided where my solo dining experience would be (either the gorgeous outside area, by the pretty bar, or at a table), to my last bite of the delectable homemade raspberry and mango sorbets. I chose outside at one of the tables with a view of the absolutely gorgeous pool area (can't see the actual pool unless you stand up and walk toward it) and a view of the mountain. I ordered an exquisite Spanish wine and perused the menu. Once my eyes landed on seafood paella, no more perusing was necessary. However, I've already made a note for when I go back that I will try their plate of meats and cheeses because the selections sounded fabulous! I did end up going in after a few sips of wine because a mosquito friend wanted to join me for his own dinner (me). The waiter was nice enough to tell me that sometimes whent he food comes out, the mosquitoes like to come around. I was actually pleased that Mr.Mosquito forced me to move in because the ambiance inside, along with the Spanish music playing (not live) was a great vibe. It was a Thursday night and there were two couples and me in the dining area. The paella was so delicious, although next time I'll ask for no red pepper strips (they are small but there were too many for my liking). The seafood was perfectly cooked and the dish was flavorful. The portion size was perfect for one. If you're used to getting huge pans of paella, this is not the place for that. Perfect portion for one. Their dessert menu was amazing but, as mentioned at the beginning of my review, I settled on sorbet. It was housemade and creamy. So good. I will be returning again and again. Really wanted to love this place... but left disappointed I'd been excited to try this restaurant for months, so it's a bummer to say I left pretty disappointed. I'm not super picky or someone who eats at fancy places all the time--but when we do spend a good chunk of money on a night out, we hope for decent food and service. Unfortunately, both were kind of lacking here. Our server was friendly, but we barely saw him. We had to ask different staff members a few times just to get drink refills, lemon slices, sharing plates, or even a spoon. When our entrees came out, we told them we were sharing--but we waited about ten minutes (and had to ask someone else) before we got plates to actually do that. The food was... okay. The octopus appetizer had some potential--the octopus itself was super tender and well-seasoned--but the potatoes were undercooked and the salad had zero flavor or dressing. The lemon wedge they gave us ended up being the only thing tying it all together. The steak tasted good but was tough, and they only gave us butter knives, so cutting it was a challenge. Again, hard to ask for something else when no one checks in. The biggest letdown was the paella. The seafood on top was dry--like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while--and one of the shrimp wasn't even cleaned properly (yes, the vein was still there). My husband also thought the rice wasn't great, and we both left most of it behind, which is really unusual for us. We finished with the chocoflan, which sounded amazing, but it was more like a dry chocolate cake with a thin, rubbery flan layer on top. Not terrible, just not what we hoped for. The space itself is beautiful, and I really wanted this to be a new favorite. But with so many other spots nearby at the same price point doing it better, I don't think we'll be back. Oh and here's the cherry on top: Sign for self parking said 0-30 minutes - complimentary 2-4 hours - $5 4-something - $10 We were there for about 90 minutes. We were charged $10..... My husband and I stayed at Omni for our anniversary and we had complimentary breakfast every morning as an Amex card holder. I was so surprised with the quality of the food here. Everything we had was great. The service was great as well. The chairs for the tables were kind of beat up and ripped but that was my only complaint about the place. The decor inside was super cute and fit the vibes perfectly. One morning they had to move us to a different section in the middle of our meal so they gave us free mimosas which was delicious. Ate here twice while we stayed at the OMNI Montelucia in Scottsdale, AZ, as it was their main on-site restaurant at the resort. Tried it for dinner (with M Bar menu since it was late) after we arrived and checked in... chose to sit and eat outside. Staff was friendly and helped to turn down the volume of the outside speaker since it was too loud. We also tried to brunch the next day and it was quite nice. Also sat on the other opposite enclosed patio facing the nearby fountain and had a great view of the Camelbak mountains. Service was prompt and friendly. Ok this might be an unpopular opinion, but although the dining was lovely, it was all just a little underwhelming. We stayed at Omni for the weekend and were able to try Prado's breakfast and dinner. For breakfast, we tried their burrito, French toast, carnitas eggs Benedict, and huevos rancheros. It was good! But not bombdotcom, gotta have it again. The French toast was quite dry and the savory dishes, though filling, was just missing that something special. For dinner, we had the brussel sprouts, octopus, lamb chops, caesar salad, skirt steak, and banana dessert. Again, it was delicious, but nothing crazy good that would make me want to go there again or recommend it to someone else. Also, the other reviews were accurate re the saltiness. The chefs hand is heavy on the salt, for sure. We sat on the patio and hate a late reservation so the weather was nice--not hot or too cold at all. We stayed at the Omni over the weekend, and our room rate featured $30 per guest at Prado for breakfast. I wasn't sure about the reservation situation, so I made a reservation on Open Table for one of the last remaining morning reservations. When we arrived, there weren't very many occupied tables, so we were able to sit wherever we wanted. The server assured they would check us in on Open Table, but I got an email asking why I no-showed my reservation. I had to go through the process of getting that fixed later that day. The menu is fairly short and has a good variety of dishes for breakfast - we were there just a few mins before the brunch menu started. We opted to share the huevos rancheros, French toast, and fresh fruit plate. The huevos rancheros were amazing!!! Extremely flavorful without being overly spicy. The French toast was lovely - the blueberry compote and orange cream were nice touches - I didn't even need to use the syrup. The fresh fruit plate was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. There were a variety of fruits and we felt it was worth the price tag. We definitely enjoyed our meals and would return. Service was sub-par. We waited about 10 minutes to be given menus or to be approached by a server, and then waited about 15 after our meals were finished to get the check. Our server never checked in on us at all. We were also a little frustrated getting different answers on how to use our room credit for the meal - it never showed up on our folio before checkout, so we're still waiting to see what comes through on the credit card. Very cute place and not super busy. Came for brunch in a Sunday with girlfriends. They don't do Sunday revelations of brunch. Our server was really kind and well mannered. I love that this resort feels like you're in Italy with the music and decor. The Magdalena loaf was good, a little dry but the buttered jam was a great touch. The carnitas Benedict was delicious. If you sit on the patio, there are a lot of flies and at one point it was overwhelming. Thats the only reason I'm giving this review a 4. We went for the paella, the protiens on the dish were fantastic, selection, serving and taste was incredible. Probably the best chicken & scallops I've had in a long time. But poorly let down by the chewy chorizo and extremely salty rice base. It was funny listening to the table next to us discussing the same thing after they got served. We will be back to see if this was just an oversight, maybe a combination of too much salt added where ingredients and butter was also salty? Not sure. But worth checking out again so I can update. Our server Jonathan was great, very attentive and made the experience complete. I think the one other area I could comment on here to be fair was the slow bar service. With all that salt, I drank a lot of water. Which means frequent trips to you know where. We waited 20-30 minutes for bottles of beer, each time we walked past the bar to the restrooms we saw the two bar man chatting to various customers. I've dined at Prado a few times as well as their bar, "M Bar." The food was remarkable & the service was spectacular. The food presentation was stunning, but more than just "looking" creative, the flavor combinations, pairing of ingredients & balance of textures was brilliant. I kept thinking, "This is Michelin-level food." I later find out that the Executive Chef did come from France where he was a chef in Michelin star restaurants. The ambiance of Prado is elegant but comfortable with soft Spanish instrumental music and a staff that is gracious & upbeat. The server, Chris, recommended the perfect tapas, starters, and main dishes. If Spanish food isn't you top choice, there are so many choices on their menu that you would label All American or Italian. (*See photos.) "Albondigas" -meatballs on creamy polenta, tomato sauce with Jamón (like proscutto) "Vegan Seafood Pasta." -Pappardelle pasta & Spanish sofrito sauce (like Marinara sauce). I'd definitely have their Caesar salad with that. * "Hanger steak" - (Tender & more flavorful than Filet Mignon) with an orange Demi-glacé & "spring onion pistou" (Pesto). purple Pototo Mousselini (Purée) ceamy in texture & literal flavor * "Burrata & Heirloom Tomato Salad" - It's like an Italian Caprese Salad but so elevated! Their Filet Mignon is topped with a sauce called "Haron Whiskey au poive." (a cream sauce with a 12 yr old whiskey!) *PRADO burger. This is no ordinary bacon cheeseburger. Go for the Flatbread, if you're in the mood for "pizza." You can also sit right up by the fire-oven & dine. Caesar salad would be perfect with that also. The tapa "PATATAS BRAVAS" has 6 potato cubes (about 1.5" cubes) that are pan-fried (just like French Fondant potatoes, without the herbs, or Steakhouse fries) each with a slice of Chiorzo & topped with a dot of garlic aioli. Take the bite of each with some of the "Salmorra sauce" that's under them (which tastes like a slightly smokey, garlic tomato sauce) similar to Marinara sauce. The view from the patio, looking out to Camelback Mountain, is spectacular. Unfortunately, the dinner did not remotely live up to expectations and could only be described as a huge disappointment. In Spain, croquetas are vibrant, deep fried little balls of flavor, always fresh out of the oil. At Prado, the mushroom croquettes were dry, cold, and were quite obviously pre-made and sitting around waiting for a diner to order them. My wife ordered the Lomo, prime beef tenderloin and I had the Tajín Cordero, braised lamb shank. Both were tasteless, the tenderloin overdone, accompanied by similarly underwhelming vegetables. The cheesecake was fair, with lemony accents, although the various cheesecakes at Grimaldi's Pizza are far superior. They only offered two Rioja by the bottle off their pricey and limited wine list. They were out of the $62 one, which left an $80 bottle, if Rioja was your desire. Roughly 3x retail. In conclusion, for us, this was a one and done, expecting far more for a $300 splurge. One and a half stars for the view and a half star for the food. And if you've been to Spain, there's nothing Spanish about the experience. read more

You know when you sit down at a restaurant and absolutely nothing on the menu looks good? And you just know it's going to be a bad experience? Yep, you guessed it. I literally stared at the menu and kept hoping something new would magically appear. It did not. One of the guests in my party wanted to eat outside on the patio so we did. Not only was it uncomfortably hot (not the restaurants problem), but they had no misters. So the table ordered some bread appetizer. It came with orange marmalade and butter covered in black salt. I did not partake in this portion of the meal, but my companions loved it. May I just say that they have a serious fly problem at this restaurant. I was waving flies away continuously. When the food came, the fly problem instantly quadrupled. It was like we were in a horror movie. We had no choice but to move inside. Ok, this was great. There were a few less flies than when we started. The service was very mediocre. The waiter was not good at explaining the entrees and he rarely came by. As for the food, my companions thoroughly enjoyed theirs, but since I struggled to order, mine was just ok. We made a reservation through open table to celebrate a friend's birthday, as she loves this restaurant. The atmosphere is calming and has a luxurious feel to it. The views of camelback mountain are wonderful! The Service staff are very well trained, kind and polite. The restaurant will mark your tickets so that you don't have to pay for parking while you're . During dinner, they were attentive and quick to respond to our needs. The restaurant is definitely a "hotel" restaurant; meaning emphasis is put on service decor and comfort. For my meal, I had an appetizer -the calamari frittata(?). Basically fried calamari some shrimp and mussels with a dipping sauce on the side. It was served on a bit of greens. It was flavorless, the seafood was chewy and it was greasy at $20 for the appetizer. We also had their bread for seven dollars that came with Creamy butter with poppyseeds and a delicious marmalade to put on top. The bread was delicious. Though for me, It was overpriced and I believe bread should be free with dinner, especially for the price that you're paying for their food selection. For my salad choice I had the burrata with tomatoes and that was $22 and the amount of burrata was About a tablespoon and a half and the tomatoes were mushy and old. They did provide a nice helping of greens. For the most part, the entire dish was very disappointing for the price, quantity and the quality of the tomatoes. Carrabba's burrata appetizer beats this hands-down, with a fistful of burrata and freshly seasoned grape tomatoes with balsamic and basil, in addition to delicious warm bread that they provide for free! $16. For my main dish, I had their seafood paella. Extremely disappointing. The seafood was not fresh. It was frozen and tasted as if all the seafood was soaked in salt. My dish had three mussels, three clams a couple of shrimp, a nice helping of bay scallops, a piece of fish and one cherry pepper. The seasoning of the rice was good. However, most of the bottom portion of my rice was stuck to my dish that they cooked it in so a portion of it was a bit-I don't know how to describe it -not mushy, but not hard just not well prepared for a $48 price tag. I am told that their meat paella is much better. (Fyi paella is very much like a Byriani from Indian food.) Lastly, for dessert, we had the bread pudding and the almond torte. The almond torte was absolutely fantastic and the bread pudding-It was good, but if you didn't have the ice cream and the toppings to go with it, it was quite dry. Their coffee and expresso was very good and fresh. Furthermore, I'd like to give a positive shout out to service and the restaurant manager. A very nice, handsome and friendly manager that graciously welcomed us and comp'd our bread at the table and a birthday dessert. We decided to try Prado for their Sunday Brunch before going for a hike. The food was exquisite and the server Antonio was very attentive and knowledgeable. I had the Burrito De La Casa had tons of flavor and the presentation was very appealing. My friend had the Prado Tortilla also very appealing and flavorful. For beverages we had a Bloody Mary and a Berry Sangria, both very refreshing. Definitely will be back! read more

First off Ric was an amazing server!!! The service and food was beyond expectations. Had three small plates: Brussels Sprouts, Heirloom Beets and Albóndigas.
