Loved the decor and the welcoming atmosphere. It was our first time and our trusty YELP suggested this venue. We were a large group so we had to wait over 30 minutes. The waiting was the worse part because it was all uphill from there. In the half hour of waiting though, we were able to get counter service which was nice because everyone wanted coffee, lattes, water and drinks. Everyone at least for our wait was happy about that. Our servers were amazing and made some awesome suggestions about pancakes. My mom loved the blueberry pancakes and we loved the churro ones. We also had the yummy avocado toast. Dad tried the suggested chilaquiles and they also were really good. Anyway, our meals were really amazing and we loved our time and food there. It was pretty packed when we arrived so it seems like the locals also know how wonderful this place is. The bathrooms are beautiful and clean! Plenty of Parking was available. For a minute, I thought I got transported to Palm Springs! I finally "woke up" from my dream when I drove to Scottsdale Fashion Square after within 10 minutes lol! The service was about 2 minutes too slow, but I looked back at the experience and wondered if I was just used to being rushed out because other breakfast restaurants always want to seat one more round of guests before closing. I couldn't resist and ordered a honey lavender matcha. Thank goodness it didn't taste like soap. The egg white scramble is more filling than expected in a good way. My husband's breakfast sandwich was loaded with crispy bacon and it elevated the sandwich to the next level! The roasted potatoes were very well seasoned too! I must also mention that both the red and green hot sauces are amazing. I like the green one more, but I know it's debatable. Arizona doesn't deserve this place. My sisters and I had a lovely brunch today at The Eleanor. I'm so glad I discovered this gem on Yelp. Our server (wish I remembered her name!) was friendly, efficient and helpful. The menu has a lot of great options and I chose the Beef Po'boy. This was really good. Only needed a little salt and the bread was thicker than I expected. The poem portion was plenty though. I shared a pancake with my sister and loved the maple butter syrup. It was so good. The pancake was fluffy and just the right thickness. Our server Summer was amazing. What a great find! I love the retro vibe with a modern touch! When we arrived, we were surprised how busy it was for a late Wednesday morning but after our experience we can see why. We were greeted by the hostess team who were all smiles and friendly but Madalyn in particular stood out. There would be a 15 minute wait so Madalyn suggested we wait at the tables in the take out/side area. We ordered bloody Mary's while we waited for our table. The bloody Mary's were very tasty and themix is spot on. Madalyn even delivered our drinks from the take out register. Perfect! When our table became available, we walked through the restaurant and noticed a nice indoor-outdoor seating option which was wonderful it is so nice outside in the mornings right now. We were sat in Kaylee's section and she quickly brought us water and another breakfast cocktail. Kaylee was very friendly and attentive and went through the favorite menu items. The Eleanor has a nice diverse menu but we were all craving Egg Benedict's. We ordered both the Eleanor Benedict and the Egg's Blackstone. Both were delicious. The poached eggs cooked perfectly, the hollandaise sauce light and creamy and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The potatoes stayed crispy throughout the meal. If they could bottle that aroma and sell it as a candle, I'd invest. The taste though? Pleasant. Fine. Just not bowl-you-over good. It was like banana bread's quieter cousin. Next up: caramelized banana pancakes. The bananas? Strong showing. Caramelized, sweet, doing their job. The pancakes themselves? Dense. Dry. They needed that maple butter syrup the way I need coffee on a Monday. Once you added the syrup, they became very good. Without it, they were auditioning for a role as paperweights. Light and airy they were not. Then came the steak and egg burrito. This one was a rollercoaster. A few bites were outstanding. "Okay, HERE we go!" energy. Then a few bites later, the flavor just... packed up and left. It had moments of brilliance followed by moments of "did someone turn the seasoning off?" But here's the plot twist: our waitress, Stephanie, absolutely stole the show. Attentive without hovering. Great recommendations. Warm. Personable. She elevated the whole experience. I tried the Eleanor with my fiancée when I visited Scottsdale and I was very disappointed in the food and drinks. The place is very nice inside and it has a really nice vibe with friendly staff but food just isn't there. I ordered the banana latte and it was very bland, lukewarm and tasted more like milk than coffee or banana. For our entree we ordered the chilaquiles & the French toast to share. The chilaquiles were very dry, the tomatillo salsa lacked so much in flavor and the chorizo definitely needed to be seasoned better. It was a very poor attempt in chilaquiles. As a Latina that loves chilaquiles I'd rate them a 1.5/5 stars. The tortillas need to be crisper but also have a lot of sauce. The potato's are also not seasoned well and very dry. As for the French toast, their whipped cream was good but that's it. I think this breakfast spot doesn't season well and the food tastes like it would be hospital food unfortunately. The Eleanor is a cute everyday cafe that makes some solid breakfast and lunch fare. The inside has a modern diner feel to it and they have a good sized patio for dining al fresco. Their Cubano sandwich is going to be my go-to on my return visits, as it's a solid take on a personal favorite of mine. The mushroom omelet was enjoyable when I was craving something more breakfast oriented, and the chilaquiles addict in my life has enjoyed the Eleanor's take on it on multiple occasions. And a fly, a very annoying fly was a HUGE pest during the entire visit. I dig the South facing wall that's lined with garage style , rolling, window doors. IDK what they're called, but I've been a fan of that style for many years. FTM, the big windows that face the road certainly add to the open feeling. Music played is relaxing but not sedate. It enhances the relaxed feeling and helps set the mood. Our meals were quite good. Everything was very fresh. My companion stated her eggs tasted especially fresh and sausage was tasty. I had the Hash and although I was surprised it was not served with toast I wasn't disappointed. The dish was served in a bowl, not what I anticipated for a breakfast hash. It was very good. A tad on the salty side, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. I don't normally order the biscuits and gravy as a first time dish, but I saw some go by and they looked too good not to order. Glad I did! Fantastic flavors. The gravy portion was just enough to get the biscuit a little soft but not so much that you had a mess on your plate. Sausage chunks the gravy were flavorful and plentiful. The egg on top was cooked perfectly and the whole dish was piping hot when it came out. The rest of the menu looks fantastic and I can't wait to go back and try something else! read more
