This is our first time at this location. We had enjoyed the Tucson location years ago. Overall it was ok. The poblano Benedict lacked flavor even though there were poblano peppers in it. This place is light and bright so you can see all the dirt on the floors and the baseboards. I feel like they may need a deep cleaning. The highlight are their pastries. I would come again for coffee and a pastry but maybe not a meal.

House Bloody w/ a side car

My new favorite thing is being able to walk to new restaurants to try. Prep had been in my list for a while. The wait was minimal and a bit noisy. My girlfriend and I shared an egg sausage and cheese Sammie on a croissant and the Smokes Salmon Hash bowl. The hash was really good with the house horseradish (very little kick but good flavor) veggies potatoes and eggs. Very little kick but good flavor. The roasted potatoes were huge and seasoned really good. The croissant to me wasn't that soft, the only downside. For drinks I got a black coffee and house Bloody Mary with a side car of the house beer I think the coffee stout, nice touch! The gf got the banana latte, not sure of the name but she liked it so much we got one to go! Oh and Prep seems to love their potatoes.

    Chickpea Scramble With A Vengeance

A cute little cafe for brunch, drinks, and pastries. The chickpea scramble was good but could use a little more texture. I didn't realize the chickpeas are cooked into the eggs. I thought it would be roasted chickpeas on top of the scramble. The non alcoholic drink, With a Vengeance, was delicious.

Came to Prep & Pastry in Scottsdale for breakfast, coffee, and a pastry and really enjoyed it. The vibes were nice, relaxed but still lively, and the service was great. The food did not disappoint, especially the chocolate croissant, which was amazing, would recommend warming it up. Everything we tried was good and well done. Definitely a solid spot for breakfast. Would recommend walking around after and looking at the local shops.

Looking forward to trying this place

Fantastic breakfast spot! Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The portions were generous, the coffee kept flowing, and the service was friendly and attentive. A perfect place to start the day--definitely a 5-star breakfast!

This place, located in a prime spot, always caught our eye but was closed whenever we were around. Finally, we decided to stop by for brunch. They don't take reservations but use a Yelp waitlist system, such a convenient touch! We went around 2 p.m. on a Sunday and were seated right away. The restaurant has a modern, well-lit, and warm ambiance. Service was quick and exceptional. I tried the pecan coffee, easily one of the best coffees I've had in a long time! For food, I went with the Harissa Shakshuka. Unfortunately, the sunny-side-up eggs were too runny, and the sauce leaned overly tangy for my taste. I wished I had picked something else. The classic French toast was decent, though I've had better. Overall, the food didn't quite hit the mark, but the coffee and service definitely did. Prices are reasonable, and the place has potential. For now, I'd rate it a 3.5 but rounding down to a 3.

Fresh pastries, coffees, smoothies and breakfast/brunch items. Food is always delicious!!! Restaurant has a cute vibe and always reminds me of a little European café, especially when you sit outside. Very attentive waitstaff and your food usually comes pretty quickly. Perfect corner location in Old Town between Nordstrom's at Fashion Square and the Canal.

Walked in to grab a coffee and a pastry. It was around 11:30am on a Sunday so the breakfast crowd had cleared out. The coffee bar is located just inside the door and doesn't require you actually seat in the restaurant. I grabbed a latte and a dossant. The latte was well made and smooth. The Salted Caramel Dossant was a combination of the doughnut and a croissant. It was really nice! One note, it was quite sweet. Pretty sure I could not have eaten the whole thing by myself. Service was fast and friendly. Ambiance is clean and modern. There were a host of other pastries from which to pick that all looked great. Didn't try an breakfast items so can't speak to those.. N*joy!

01/18/2026 My friend was in town, and we both were in the mood for Prep & Pastry. So we got brunch there around 9am. I got the Simple Breakfast, but the portion of scrambled eggs looked smaller than usual. They were still running their winter drinks menu, so I got the Cranberry Matcha. I expected a garnish or something to make it look festive, but it didn't come with anything. I didn't really taste cranberry in it either. We were hoping they'd have their delicious pop tarts, but sadly didn't see any at the pastry counter. Our waiter was attentive initially. After we finished eating, he asked if we wanted anything else. We were considering some of the pastry options, so he walked away to give us time to think, but then he never came back. We kept chatting for a bit waiting for him to come by. Finally I was able to flag him down to get our check. It didn't seem like he remembered the prior conversation at all or how long he had neglected us. It was pretty busy, so you would think they'd try to clear tables quickly.

Prep & Pastry was DELICIOUS! The restaurant is located in Fashion Square on the corner near the Nordstrom parking garage. There's indoor & outdoor seating available. I started off with a classic espresso martini, and added a dash of white chocolate syrup. For breakfast, I kept it simple and got the classic breakfast (eggs, turkey sausage, toast, and potatoes). The turkey sausage patty had fresh peppers & was packed with flavor. The breakfast potatoes were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed the fresh jelly served with the toast. The food was excellent and I will be returning with my hubby!

Ordered the Steak & Egg Sandwich and it was decent! The portion size is pretty big and the food comes out pretty fast. I would say that the steak was a little dry but it was alright in a sandwich with the eggs and cheese.

Love, love, love! Service was excelente, food was delicious and out fast, latte/ coffees were amazing and nothing was too filling either. My family and I ate outside and it was lovely. Other than a few dirty tables sitting there for a while everything was perfect. Prep and Pastry has earned my first 5/5 star review, 100% would recommend.

Prep and pastry is one of my go tos to take my friends for brunch! Now that I've moved away I'm always bringing people to Scottsdale and this is one of our stops! My usual is the steak and egg sandwich, swapping out the eggs for scrambled egg whites. Their potatoes are unmatched- always a hit. I love this sandwich so much I keep saying I'll try something new but then I don't. I do want to come back and try a power bow next time. I love the interior it's just such a nice brunch spot and perfect to go to before a day in Old Town.

    Yes

Is this restaurant open on 4th of July 2022?

    Yes

Do we need reservations for lunch?

I don't think so. We were just there on Monday around noon (no reservation) and were seated immediately. There was plenty of open seats. Might be a different story on weekends.

What are the parking options near this location?

There is a ton of parking nearby. There is free street parking right in front of the stores you can usually find during the day and there are huge parking garages with free parking as well. You'll easily be able to find parking here - it's not a… Read more

What's the atmosphere like? Looking for a place that's not too loud or packed

The inside has very high ceilings, very open and airy. I was there at an off hour and sat outside, but cannot imagine that it would ever feel cramped, loud, etc.

Are dogs allowed on the outside patio?

    Yes

Do they do anything for birthdays?

Not sure. I would give them a call. Likely not much right now due to Covid.

Is there a bottomless mimosa special on the weekend?

    No, unfortunately not.

Are dogs allowed on patio (if they have one)?

Yes, dogs are allowed on the patio.

Does this location have an event space or more private area for a larger party?

I asked about having a holiday party in the evening and was told they would hold a party for 50 or more depending whether we could seat on the patio or just inside. Should be a great setting.

There's also only one entrance/exit, which makes going in and out awkward. We waited in line to order for about 15 minutes, but the cashier was kind and efficient. If you don't mind a lot of people standing close to you, it's great to watch the baristas make the coffee drinks, such as tamping grounds, pulling espresso shots, and decorating lattes with milk art. They were working pretty fast, despite the amount of orders. We waited for our drinks for about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad considering how busy it was. We ordered the berry croissant danishes (see picture) and the cinnamon rolls. They are beautiful! These were packaged in pastry bags and/or boxes and given to us right away. They had a great variety of pastries, so it was hard to choose! It's good to arrive early, since it appeared they were running low on pastries in the pastry case around 10:30 am. The cinnamon roll is delicious! The flavor of cinnamon and sugar is balanced, the pastry itself was perfectly cooked, and the cream cheese icing was the perfect touch. The berry (ricotta?) danish was tasty too, the berries were fresh and the croissant dough was flaky. For coffee, we ordered hot lattes and I ordered the iced cookie butter latte. The hot cups are well insulated and don't require a sleeve. The lattes are a bit on the pricier side compared to other coffee shop lattes. The hot lattes had beautiful art on top, which I appreciate and thought was a nice touch for to-go drinks. The iced cookie butter latte had a great subtle flavor and wasn't too sweet like I was anticipating.
