    French toast and sausage
    Mitchell L.

Met a friend for break/lunch. Haven't been here before. Average little cafe ambience. First table I sat at had a rocking top. Indicates to me that no one cares enough to fix. Ordered the sweet and savory plate. French toast, Schreiner sausage, and added an over easy egg. Our server was sloooow, to no attention at all French toast was okay. Sausage was good. Egg was received over medium. Very limited menu. No CFS, breakfast steak. Overall, not impressed with this place and don't understand the great reviews. No reason to return.

We stopped in here this morning for breakfast after having an early appointment next-door. They serve breakfast and lunch and at 7:30 on a weekday They were not busy at all. They do have some bench seating that's comfortable, otherwise a lot of the chairs are metal fyi. My husband usually orders one of the big breakfast specials-it was called the rise and shine and it's a lot of food. I usually don't eat a big breakfast so I typically order a side egg. ($2.25) and then share a little bit off his plate, which is plenty for me. The coffee is super strong and tasty Service was quick and efficient and the ambiance is very upbeat. The bright orange colors and the really cool mural on the wall make it fun. They do have daily breakfast specials that rotate and one of the cool things about this place is they use as many local suppliers as they can and provide you a list so you know where your food is coming from. $23 before tip.

Two stars for the server who was super friendly and welcoming. The food was just not it. It was terrible. The pancakes were awful, the bacon was jerky, the potatoes had no seasoning along with being burnt and the eggs were raw still. I sent the pancakes back because I couldn't pull myself to eat them. I didn't send my husband's stuff back because I didn't want them to think we were trying to get anything free. However, he barely ate his stuff nor did we take anything to go. I don't see myself ever coming back here and was truly disappointed the food was that terrible.

Hog & Chick with Blueberry Short Stack

This was my first visit to Matt's Big Breakfast. I remember all the hype when the original location opened but I am not one for waiting in long lines. I am glad that I finally made time to try it out. The Biltmore location is in a busy shopping area so be patient trying to find parking. I was seated right away at the bar. Note: the host does not walk you to the table - I assume because it is a small place. It was only about five minutes before a server took my drink order - coffee. Since this was my first visit I decided to try the classic breakfast option, the Hog & Chick - 2 eggs, option of hashbrowns or home fries, bacon or sausage and toast. I also ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes. Coffee came first and had a good flavor and the right temp. Food only took another 8 minutes or so. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned well - golidlocks status - not too much or too little. I opted for the home fries and sausage links. The home fries were cubed potatoes that were cooked well with just enough crunchy pieces around the edges. The sausage (from The Pork Shop in QC) was probably some of the most delicious I've had at a breakfast spot - great texture. The portions were more than satisfactory and I was left with most of the pancakes to take home. The staff was friendly, professional and seemed to be hustling turning over tables and running food. It would be a good spot to stop to grab a bite before/after shopping or running errands. It was a quick bite for a sit down atmosphere. IMHO nothing super exceptional but definitely good quality and service for the price ($33 w/tip). My only complaint is that the coffee is 3.99 but it is good and includes refills. MBB has exactly the kind of consistency for a place I would make my regular breakfast spot. I would eat here again or try another location just for the experience.

Was excited to try this place. All of my food was dry and overcooked though. Service was good. Restaurant was clean

Matt's is one of my fav breakfast spots! This is the first time I've been to this location so I decided to cross it off my list. As usual, it was busy, but we were still able to get a seat rather quickly. The service was friendly and fast, spot on with the other locations I've visited. There inside seating options fill up quickly, so be prepared to wait if you go during peak times on the weekends. The vibe inside is comfortable and relaxing. Food is always amazing! My fav is the simple Hog & Chick with a side of hash-browns. Love it all! On a scale of 1 - 10, if you haven't been to Matt's, you gotta check it out!

Love that they've opened another spot in this location. Huge parking with plenty of spaces and really centrally located. Came on a weekday for breakfast and it was pretty busy. It was a seat yourself situation, but we had to wait quite a bit for service. It probably took 10 minutes from seating and greeting to get water and by that point we just ordered our food as well. Matt's is always good food. Solid spot, reasonably priced.

The food was very tasty. We went during a non-busy time and half the restaurant was occupied. Even with this the service was not great. It is open seating. We sat at the high tops, which were all dirty. I probably would not come back to this location.

Met a business colleague here for breakfast and it was her first time going to one of these locations. As always, it was very busy, and the parking at this location is a bit of a challenge not too bad. The service was a little slower than I would like however our server was friendly and the food came out hot and fresh, and like all items here very delicious. We had the first table by the door which wasn't the greatest because I had people at my back almost the entire time I was eating. Not a major issue but I would certainly try to pick a different table in the future.

I love this place so much. The ambience and the quick and friendly staff make this place amazing. We love to come on Tuesdays for the Biscuits and Gravy special. And their orange juice is so delicious. I could drink a gallon. I always love to sit in the booth, their staff is super friendly and get you in and out. This location is so unassuming, love to hit it up when I'm in the area!

Such a solid brunch spot. I love the casualness and home-feel vibe. The Chick & Hog is my go to! The pork loin chop is so tender and juicy! The house potatoes are where it is at and get the sourdough toast with preserves. Service is great and friendly!

Literal garbage! Trash. My boyfriend and I live nearby and we really wanted try the food especially after seeing how many good reviews they have and it always seems to be busy... But the food was not good. It was disappointing. I got the big papa burrito which was bland and the enchilada sauce was watery and everything inside was dry and overcooked. My boyfriend had the French toast and that was freaking dry too. Shit bread with syrup and a tortilla with wet "sauce " Even the sausage links were weird and some kind of burnt grill bits on the outside. And they don't have alcohol which may have been the only thing to make the food edible.

Smashed Avocado Toast with poached egg
    Kristen S.

First time at this location. In town to visit our son and stopped here after we landed. Typical breakfast type place, metal chairs. Some comfortable booth seating along the wall. The avocado toast was really good. I added the poached egg, which was perfect. It had a lot of vegetables on top, so I felt like I ate fairly healthy. Service was good. No refills of coffee offered but other than that no complaints. Would come back next time I'm in the area.

The interior is pretty long with a large number of seating inside the building so we had no trouble getting seated right away by the hostess. We decided on food relatively quickly due to previous experience with the business, however, our waiter never came around to take our orders or even give us water at the table. We saw one girl with dyed hair who unassumingly could have been our waiter since she was in our section but only worked with one particular table and ran to the back after each time, but never addressed our table or came by. We eventually had to flag a different waiter down who was able to help us place the order and service us for the rest of our visit, she also informed us that this other "Waiter" was supposed to help us but she wasn't sure why she never made an attempt to do so after having us wait 20 mins and other tables were being serviced. We ordered Flordian French Toast and Elote Breakfast Burrito (plus a couple sides and drink) which were both really good, and filling. Prices weren't too bad for what we ordered and was able to take our mind off of the rather long wait to get helped. Not sure if we'll come back to this particular location again, but it was nice trying the restaurant out another time.

One thing to know is there is no table service. You order at the counter and they have a lot of choices so if you have never been there it's hard to decide while other people are waiting behind you. I came with my mom and we were craving pancakes so again didn't get any eggs which is what they are known for and their breakfast pizzas. So I'll come back to try those. We split buttermilk pancakes and a cinnamon roll. They do have real maple syrup but of course they up charge for the good stuff. The pancakes are ok but don't taste like buttermilk pancakes. They looked good but it definitely tasted like a mix and not a good one. They were way overly sweet. They weren't terrible but just not great. 4/10 on the pancake scale. The cinnamon roll also tasted like a store bought premade roll. It was also kind of burnt and didn't taste like anything. The only good thing was the coffee which I was highly skeptical about because it was serve yourself from a carafe. But it was good and strong. Nice views of the mountains and the patio is dog friendly. I want to like this place because it's in my neighborhood so next time I'll try the eggs dishes. Also they have several veggie/vegan selections so I'll come back for those too and to bring my dog.

The staff was friendly throughout our stay, and the overall property has a relaxing atmosphere that makes it easy to enjoy the sunshine and scenery. We booked an upgraded suite with a separate bedroom and TV room, which gave us plenty of space to spread out. While the layout was great, the room itself could use some updates. The bathroom fixtures were older--the Kohler toilet didn't flush well and was a bit noisy, and the tub/shower combo had rounded sides that made it tricky to stand comfortably. The shower water also never got fully hot. The room had a slightly musty smell, and the carpets would benefit from a deep cleaning. The balcony screen door didn't close tightly, which let a few flies in, and access to the second floor required two sets of stairs since there's no elevator in that section. Even with those issues, the resort's location, views, and overall vibe made the stay enjoyable. With some room refreshes and a bit more maintenance attention, this could easily be a standout property. The setting alone is worth experiencing.

I found a great AAdvantage Hotel deal at the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort and booked it. While it was a great success of a visit in terms of AAdvantage miles and loyalty points, my actual experience at the hotel itself was less to be desired due to the customer service and a big snafu on their part. I also have Hilton Gold status, though as I booked the hotel through a third party site (AAdvantage Hotels), I could see the stay and the stay history in my Hilton app, but I did not receive any benefits for staying there, which was fine as I didn't expect any anyone. I arrived in person to check in and already reserved and prepaid for a King 1 Bedroom Standard Suite, which had a nice view and reasonably spacious room (but not too much larger than a regular room at another hotel). The room was certainly not upgraded though there was parking available right in front of the entrance. I did not receive anything else at check-in nor did it appear that I'd get my regularly complimentary water. I did pay the daily resort charge which includes high speed internet access, access to the Falls Water Village, an hour at the tennis/pickleball court, an hour at the afternoon golf practice facility, two hours for a mountain bike rental, 20% off seasonal spa services, and 15% off select golf apparel. While I didn't use it, I had easy view and access to the Falls Water Village where you could lounge and play all day on their sun-marked terrace where you could find free-form pools, hot tubs, and cabanas. They even have a 138-foot enclosed water slide. When I checked out, I was told that a bill would be sent to me shortly since I did it on the app early, and when I received the bill, there was a charge for my room at the restaurant at the top of the hill called A Different Point of View. The catch is that I never went to eat there during my stay (or at any onsite restaurant since I live in the area and had my meals offsite). I reached out to the hotel who insisted that I did go there to eat. I promised them I didn't eat anywhere onsite and that they need to look at the receipt and see if it actually has my room number. They confirmed it did and that this meant I ate there. I told them to find my name on it and let me know if it was on there. After several more back and forth conversations, they confirmed it wasn't me and would remove the charge. They then mistakenly charged me double. Then they removed one charge, but it took more than a week before they removed the other charge. By the end of the exchanges, it felt like they were blaming me for their own mistake. While the resort is aged and rather pleasant, there certainly are training issues regarding the customer service offered at this property. I do not plan on staying here again in the future.
