Sat outside this time and enjoyed the graffiti walls and bird sounds. The fans helped relieve too early hot temps. Service good as usual. We enjoyed our empanada ( mushroom ) plate and side of yucca fries.

Their high reviews do not lie. This is one of those hidden local neighborhood gems. The pricing is great. I got a plate and an extra empanada and the whole meal is only $26. That is rare these days. I got the veggie empanadas, rice, beans, plantines, and salad. They are all really good. The green salsa is great, not too spicy. Just right. All the people there are super friendly. Chill vibes. Go check them out.

Republica Empanada in PHX, Arizona makes delicious empanadas. Located in a chill little restaurant you order your food and you get a number and then they bring your food to your table. Not a dedicated server to order your food. This place is great for lunch with your coworkers. They had a decent amount of tables inside the restaurant and a lot of cute and funky urban artwork for sale that also adorns the walls for decor by local artists. Came here with some coworkers to grab lunch before our meeting and I'm happy we decided to come here. My favorite empanadas were the Chicken, Picadillo and Cubana. They also were featured on Guy Fieri's popular show - Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

We love our Empanadas and have had our fair share of them throughout the years of food exploration. These Empanadas did not disappoint!!! Empanada shell is not flakey and has the perfect chew to it! Here is what we ordered: - Republica chicken: 4.5/5 flavorful shredded chicken in every bite! - Pernil: 4.5/5 the pork was so moist and delicious with each bite! - Boricua: 5/5 WOWZA!! The blend of the pork with rice was amazing! I would love to just get a plate of the Boricua stuffing! - Cubana: 5/5 OMGGG!! The cheese mixed in with the ham, pork slice, and pickle was so delicious! I will come back to get the Cubana sandwich next time! - El Capitan: 4.5/5 good blend of beef, potatoes, sweetness from raisins, and a salty kick from the Kalamata olives - Guava cheese: 4/5 this is a pretty standard guava cheese empanada. Can't go wrong with ordering this for a nice warm dessert treat. - Dizzy fig: 4/5 my family enjoyed the abundance of fig filling in each bite. We got the food to-go so service was fast in preparation. Empanadas stayed warm until we were ready to eat them. Ambiance / vibe had a bar-like atmosphere. It would be a great date night spot.

This place is so good that it is one of those "must go" places we take out-of-town guests. Then we need only send them a picture of the empanadas to make them a little jealous and have them wish they were with us. Today was a rarity in that my wife and I went out for lunch and this is where we landed. Still love the food and the atmosphere.

Had to make a stop bc Diners, drive-ins and dives did a feature. Artsy little place for a quick empanada. They were delicious. Service was so pleasant and the menu was right to the point.

This is a restaurant I've craved since we moved from Arizona. Every time we visit, we bring someone new with us; we took family this time, and did not disappoint (as usual). Arroz con pollo was fantastic. We had leftovers the next day, and it was still soooo good! The outdoor area is perfect to bring your pets; they will take reservations, and the service was perfect. Sad I have to wait until we visit again -- I tried to talk them into shipping some to us out of state, but no luck!

I enjoy going to unique places where you can customize your meal just the way you like it. República allows you to decide: do you want a platter like arroz con pollo? Or an empanada platter with rice, beans, cabbage salad and maduros? My favorite approach is to order empañadas a la carte. Choose whatever you like. My favorite thus far is the Jalapeño Bean Popper. (Black beans, cream cheese, seeded jalapeños.) Tonight I also had the Ham and Cheese. In the past, my husband and I have split one of the dessert options - Ruiz's Pieces (Nutella and peanut butter) and it was very good. Two empañadas is just about perfect for my appetite but they come out quickly if you want more. Service here is always friendly. I like how they've decorated the interior and exterior with beautiful murals and art to give the place a great vibe.

When I am craving empanadas, this is the place I think of. It's been around for years and is a quaint place with unique decor. This last visit, the service was subpar. We walked in with one couple who was ahead of us at the hostess stand. They waited for several minutes before being helped. The place was quite empty, so there was no excuse for customers standing there without getting staff attention immediately. When they were seated, it still took another 5 minutes for my party to be seated. It was quite peculiar since the restaurant was not busy. They only have QR codes for menus, so have your phone ready to view the menu. It took much longer than you would expect for the waitress to take our drink orders and about 10 minutes for her to serve the sodas we ordered. They finally delivered our food which is the only saving grace for why we come. There are unique menu items and flavor combinations. I would like them to serve more chimichurri sauce with the empanadas considering that is their namesake. You only get a small little cup of it per person, regardless of how many empanadas you order. It seems a little cheap considering the sauce is not an expensive item to make and the empanadas are the claim to their fame. I think their price point is a little bit high for the quality of the food and stinginess of portions. However, the food does taste delicious. Hopefully, their management improves the service in the future. Don't try to come here if you are in a rush because every step will take a bit longer than is the norm.

Very cute building next to a community garden. Surrounded by wonderful colorful paintings. We traveled from Michigan and wanted to go to places that Guy Fieri recommended. I had the bean and cheese empanadas, and the chicken empanada, rice, beans and slaw. Delicious ! Fast and friendly service from Emma. Outside and inside seating areas. Thank you

Parking lot art.

After years of driving by, I finally stopped and tried this unique little restaurant. The lunch menu is very small, but honestly just perfect. The empanadas were delicious as was the rice, bean and cabbage salad. The employee that helped us was extremely pleasant and helpful with her suggestions. The restaurant is small, but clean, cutely decorated.

Great food! Friendly service. Clean and comfortable seating. Reasonable pricing. Will. Will definitely come back.

Papas Fritas. Definitely 8 dollars worth. Delicious. The white sauce is awesome.

Keith Lee was right. Delicious food in a wonderful atmosphere. The Pernil and Republica Chicken were both super flavorful. Definitely want to come back for a date night to try some cocktails.

I was looking at the Gallo Pinto on the menu on-line.. I think it is designated as vegetarian but it appears to be vegan also....or have I missed something in the ingredients?

I'm not sure exactly how they cook their beans but I usually order vegetarian and I get the Gallo pinto

Are you open on Sundays and if so until what time? It seemed closed a few Sundays ago.

They are now closed on Sundays

Do they offer Takeout at Republica Empanada? I've tried calling a few times but can't get anyone to answer the phone.

Do they have Gluten Free options?

Yes. Try the Arroz con Pollo!

Does anybody know if they use lard in there crust? I don't usually eat pork or beef due to allergies and I would like to try this place. Also, if they use cheese do they use the cheese without animal rennet in it?

No there is not lard used, I'm not sure about the cheese but you can call and ask.

I cannot say enough good things about the experience we had here…read more My husband and I went in for lunch with another couple last weekend for Valentine's Day and had such an amazing time. The food was so good, but even more than that our server Diana was delightful. She was so friendly and helpful in picking out what to order. We started with the super sampler platter, which was a really good idea if you are not super familiar with Venezuelan food (like us). It gives you an idea of how to order your main course (if you still have room!) I think my favorite thing from the meal was chicken patacon that we had on the appetizer platter. I will go back for that for sure ! Everything was so good! My husband had the arepa mechada (shredded beef) and loved it. Their drink menu is really good as well. The passion fruit margarita was so good as was the carajillo Diana was on point and made sure our drinks were always full and that we had a great time. We will be back for sure !

Too many places in PHX offer a decent atmosphere but mid ass food.

I must have had a brain fart or something because right after I walked in, the worker greeted us and immediately told us they had empanadas. He said they had chicken, beef, and cheese empanadas. I immediately ordered three chicken and three beef. I forgot about the arepas. The guy said it would be ten minutes. So we browsed their store. As soon as you walk in to the business, the small place looked like it is set up to ship packages. It has a small grocery store in the back, and has a kitchen on the side. The whole store was small, but clean. There was no seating in this place as it is not a sit down restaurant. Food orders are placed to go. Almost ten minutes exactly our empanadas came out. We took them to our car and ate there. We wanted to eat them fresh and hot and boy were they steaming hot. I loved the crispness of the shells. The filling was very flavorful and moist. I dipped them in the salsa and they had had a nice kick. They were delicious! We were able to polish off four. After we arrived home some thirty minutes later, the empanadas were still warm and surprisingly still crispy! I ate the last two. I will definitely return to try their arepas!

The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Good music not too loud like other "high end" spots in Scottsdale that try to do too much. They also had a fire performer in the middle of our dinner which added to the ambiance. We sat inside but the outdoor seating also looked nice. During the day this place would have great views of the golf course I imagine. Onto the food, oysters were great quality, fresh but still briny. Had a pineapple mignonette that complimented well. My gf doesn't like oysters but these were small enough for her to enjoy with the added sweetness. Calamari was also solid, had a great chipotle aioli and ginger scallion oyster sauce on the side. The salmon ceviche was a bit of a let down. More like a crudo if you ask me, but still great flavors. Cocktails were great too! The corn mezcal was super unique. Not the biggest mezcal person but it sounded too good to pass up and definitely glad I tried it. My gf got the pisco sour and it was perfectly tart but refreshing. For mains we got the Lomo Saltado and Salmon. Both were great, Lomo Saltado was super tender and had great flavors. The lobster fried rice was better, but small portions and a very small lobster serving made us wonder how this dish cost $49. We hoped me might finish with a dessert to pick up the mood after a lackluster meal. The salted carmel brownie we decided on wasn't great; tasteless and bland, it just wasn't worth it. We started with Guacamole de Casa, which comes with chips and salsa. Fresh, bright, and a great way to start off the meal. For our mains we ordered Beef Tenderloin Steak Tacos with pomegranate marinade, chipotle aioli, fried peppers and onions, and gorgonzola cheese. These tacos were incredible. The flavors were layered and bold and honestly I am drooling a little just typing this out. We also tried the Barbacoa Green Chile Enchiladas made with slow roasted beef and New Mexican Hatch green chile sauce. Rich, savory, and packed with flavor. To drink we had agua frescas, jamaica and piña, which were both refreshing and perfect alongside the food. Dessert absolutely delivered, too! The churros are dusted with cinnamon sugar, filled with cream, and come with a sweet glaze for dipping. So good! Our server also let us know about a coconut cream pie that was not listed on the menu and we are glad that he did. It was one of the best coconut cream pies I have had, topped with toasted coconut shavings and full of coconuty deliciousness. It is the little details and thoughtful flavor combinations that this place really nails. If you are looking for one Mexican restaurant to take visiting friends or family, or you just want a truly memorable meal, this is an easy pick. With so many awards and accolades, it is very easy to see why this place gets so much love.
