Omg the food is fantastic. The vibe is super chill nothing fancy but food is awesome. The staff is attentive and busy clearly for good reason. It's fun to walk around in the area as well after dinner.

This is the only Venezuelan place I've ever tried. I'm surprised how different it was from Mexican food, although--duh-- that makes perfect sense since they're two completely different countries. This place isn't fancy, but it's nice enough. There is a really cool mural on one wall and on another The words Venezuela are spelled out in red, Blue, and yellow. There's a bar with bar stools and from the looks of it it's a pretty full bar. I didn't see a cocktail menu or drink menu, so I assume they'll make what you ask. Our server was very nice and you can tell he aimed to please. They serve arepas, which are kind of like a cross between a thick tortilla and a steamed bun. They're pretty heavy, but delicious. We all got the chicken arepa which has shredded chicken cooked with seasoning and perhaps peppers? They had mashed avocado on the arepa. It was served with fried plantains. It was all delicious! We've been here several times and each time I have loved it. I've had fried plantains at other places, but honestly I like these ones the best.

I only got to order takeout since we were out for Noon Year, but I am glad we got to wait around at the establishment. Everyone was super friendly and were giving out Prosecco for Noon Years! I got the plato pabellon and was filled with lots of meat! They sure don't skimp on the portions her. The meat was well seasoned and juicy, and the beans, plantains, and rice were also delicious. The arepa (their corn bread) was also well made. Can't wait to come back to try other dishes.

Que Chevere is fantastic!! It's quite small so you may want to consider going outside of busy lunch hours. When we walked in we were quickly greeted and given an overview of the menu as it was our first time. We had never tried Venezuelan food, but had Que Chevere recommended multiple times. I ordered a spicy margarita and my husband had an old fashioned. My husband said his drink was okay, but my margarita was super delightful! I asked for it to be spicer my second round and it was perfect. For our meal I had the arepa pabellon and it was mind blowing with the amount of flavors I experienced! The corn pancake mixed with the seasoned shredded beef, black beans, cheese, and the cilantro creama was so good! Plus the fried plantain chips on the side were different but seriously yummy! My husband ordered the Que Chevere Pepito and said it was okay. There was a lot of ketchup and mayo on the top which overpowered any other flavors. He did say that the steak was cooked perfectly and he enjoyed the pieces of bacon as well. Overall we will definitely visit again when we're in Mesa!

Stopped here to try the arepas and it did not disappoint. They are super filling and loaded. The staff was also super sweet and the atmosphere was so lively

Delish!! Great friendly and attentive service. Quick and hot food. We loved it. It's a small place with casual seating. Parking is around the corner in public lots.

Came here after having a couple of beers at the brewery just a few buildings down. This place is amazing! A TRUE gem. The place is very welcoming and the staff are super friendly and very helpful when there is a need to get a better handle of the menu. This is traditional Venezuelan food, and it is absolutely delicious - and very well presented! We ordered several items and the empanadas were honestly my faves... but it was all really good. The place is not huge but a decent size, and thankfully not full of wall TVs which I think often detract from the ambience. There was only one TV and it was off! We had a couple of drinks including some of their higher end tequilas and I have to say it was a great evening all round. The food was incredible. With the increase in quality dining and beverage locations in DT Mesa, there are some great choices. This is definitely in the top of my list in Mesa!

If you haven't been to Qué Chevere in downtown Mesa yet, I'm going to kindly suggest you stop what you're doing and GO. We ordered the sampler plate - it was a whole fiesta on a platter. The tequeños? Golden, crispy cheese sticks of joy. The beef empanadas? A spiritual experience. The chicken empanadas are solid, but the beef deserves its own fan club. We shared everything family-style with our "taste-buddies" (aka two teen guys and tween girlie), and the portions were generous. Even with three human vacuums at the table, we had leftovers. Bless. The arepa pabellón brought it all home; fluffy, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Shout-out to the staff: kind, helpful, and genuinely happy to walk you through the menu like the arepa angels they are. The vibe is casual, welcoming, and full of heart -exactly what you want from a spot serving Venezuelan comfort food this good. Great value, even better vibes. Will definitely be back- next time we're bringing reinforcements.

Some of the best food I've ever eaten! I do not eat Venezuelan food at all. It is amazing! Every plate was cleaned!

Friendly service, good came out quick. Tons of meat in the shredded beef arepa, plantain chips were super crispy and the green sauce drenched over the arepa added a nice spicy touch. The beef was seasoned well and the arepa itself was hearty. It was pretty quiet when I popped in around 11:50am for lunch.

The food was delicious. The staff was helpful in explaining the unique dishes. Overall a great experience.

Came for dinner & ordered the Arepa Pabellón plate. It's exactly what I was expecting. Flavorful, delicious, and filling. Staff is friendly & attentive. Restaurant has great vibes along with good music. (Music was not too loud which is great) You can hear conversations without having to yell. I'm not a drinker but the bar is stalked up with alcohol. The table next to me ordered drinks & they were so pretty. If I drank I would have definitely ordered one. The table was pleased with their drinks as they were sipping on them. Orvid the owner took the time to stop by & say hi. Really nice guy & I would definitely come back again to support this local Venezuelan restaurant. You won't be disappointed with the Arepa Pabellón!!!!

    Lots of Venezuela decor.

I kept hearing about this place and I'm so glad I finally went in to give it a try. Omg this food is so good! The arepas are to die for. The meat inside of them is so flavorful and that green sauce!! *drool* The drinks are also fabulous and great service. There's a good amount of seating inside and a nice dog-friendly patio in the front too. My first experience with Venezuelan food did not disappoint! I'm definitely going to come back to try the brunch options.

Glad I arrived when I did because several groups came in after seating myself. It looks like street parking and adjacent businesses have spaces which might be available otherwise. Atmosphere 3/5 Although I enjoyed the artwork, this is essentially a small fast food like restaurant. Very small dining room with awful acoustics. Guests of more than two bring the conversation level fairly high and the group of five who arrived behind me had the place uncomfortably loud. It reminded me of my ASU Chuck Box days. Service 4/5 Being my first visit I wish there could have been more time to have the Menu selections explained. I defaulted to my order takers recommendations. As it turned out those suggestions were nice. Food 5/5 I choose the Arroz Con Pollo Jalapeño & Ham popper Empanada Sopa Verde The Aaroz Con Pollo was unique, fresh and delicious. Interesting creation with exciting flavors. I would order this again. Great portion. The Jalapeños & Ham popper Empanada was on the small side when compared to Mexican bakeries I purchased them at. That said the selections here are many and unique! Mine was outstanding. The Jalapeño popper and ham in their perfectly cooked pastry complimented each other so well, I was not disappointed with this recommendation and would order this again! Sopa Verde was a great portion. It included premium garden vegetables including spinach, rice, alvacado, peas, fresh white chicken meat and a salsa verde that added another flavor. This was a wonderful palette treat and another item I would order again. For me Food is this restaurants strong point. Atmosphere driven by acoustics not as much. I must have had a brain fart or something because right after I walked in, the worker greeted us and immediately told us they had empanadas. He said they had chicken, beef, and cheese empanadas. I immediately ordered three chicken and three beef. I forgot about the arepas. The guy said it would be ten minutes. So we browsed their store. As soon as you walk in to the business, the small place looked like it is set up to ship packages. It has a small grocery store in the back, and has a kitchen on the side. The whole store was small, but clean. There was no seating in this place as it is not a sit down restaurant. Food orders are placed to go. Almost ten minutes exactly our empanadas came out. We took them to our car and ate there. We wanted to eat them fresh and hot and boy were they steaming hot. I loved the crispness of the shells. The filling was very flavorful and moist. I dipped them in the salsa and they had had a nice kick. They were delicious! We were able to polish off four. After we arrived home some thirty minutes later, the empanadas were still warm and surprisingly still crispy! I ate the last two. I will definitely return to try their arepas!

The restaurant ambiance is classy yet relaxed, not overly stuffy, but visually clean and inviting,…read morelike you feel better about yourself when walking in somehow. You know you are in for a true fine dining experience. We started off with some cocktails and I was very impressed with the clear ice cube in my Smokey Old Fashioned as it was branded with the "Toro" logo. It was so smooth and probably the best Old Fashioned I ever had, so I had 3 more! My wife throughly enjoyed her Espresso Martinis also. I started off with the Grilled Octopus and nearly cried because it was so good. This is a food favorite of mine and although I love the flavors, most restaurants over cook it and you need to cut it with a steak knife. Not this dish, no knife necessary, your fork will do. So tender, so flavorful, so amazingly delicious. The Mrs. ordered the crispy calamari and was thoroughly impressed as the texture was what fresh calamari should be and not the rubbery texture you get from 8 out of 10 other places. Seasoned to perfection with spices but not overly spicy. My wife can't bear spicy anymore , but she really enjoyed it. I finished it for her of course, because she always remembers to leave room for desert and never finishes anything. And I'm glad because I always get to taste her meals too. It's a win-win for me! I then had an off-the-hook Ceviches that rivaled my own. I am also a part-time cook and also wrote a cookbook. Ceviche is a particular dish that I compare to other restaurants and until now, never found another place that compares to mine. Toro doesn't disappoint my friends. Now for the entrée, Lomo Saltado for myself and a medium rare Ribeye for the Mrs. The Lomo Saltado was beef tenderloin on creamy rice, crispy potato, heirloom tomato, bell peppers, Rocoto Aioli and a Chifa Soy Sauce. It was mouth watering. The beef tenderloin was cooked a little on the well done side, but my bad for not specifying to cook it medium rare. It was still amazing and not a big enough deal to even mention it in the review, but I just want you to specify your preference when you order yours. My wife had the 14 Oz. Ribeye, medium rare ( she thought it was also medium but I found it to be medium rare myself) it was soooo good. She had a side dish of Crispy Brussels sprouts that were unworldy. We never had Brussels sprouts that good, it must be the sherry vinagrette and cotija cheese. Unreal. I had a side of shishito peppers that made my heart happy. My favorite peppers are not usually available everywhere so it was a real bonus to the meal. Desert, well the desert was worth the wait. We both ordered the Ube Basque Cheesecake. It is a dark purple colored slice of heaven with masa crumble, Yuzu espuma and coconut jam. The presentation was stunning. We even enjoyed espresso with sambucca to finish our dining experience. How many places offer espresso on their menu just to inform you the espresso machine isn't working? Just another bonus for us. Price wise, what you would expect for a high-end restaurant in a beautiful resort area of Scottsdale, no sticker shock there, but still, I'd save this place as a never can fail go to for a first date, anniversary, job promotion, marriage proposal, special occasion restaurant. They also do breakfast, brunch, lunch and Happy Hour. I hope you get to experience this place at least once. Put it on your bucket list, you'll be glad you did!
