Platinum Frito - Fried Plantain. Delicious.

A friend was in town for a medical visit. Always ready for new experiences, El Chullo caught their eye. The U.S. Government once put me on a cruise ship - eight months to Antarctica and back. It broke ice. Three stops in Peru. One for an hour or two, just a Valparaiso view. Walk through the door, a step into Artsy Peru. Fabric, graphic, photographic art, music and and lighting set the mood. Service, smiling, prompt, attentive Bars and food are married in Peru. Pisco is the national high proof beverage. Pisco Sour the National High Proof Drink. I ride No Proof these days, We ordered Chicha Morada - purple corn, pineapple, cinnamon and cloves. Subtle, slightly sweet, excellent beverage. Canchita is Sun dried fried corn. A small serving is the appetizer. Parched Corn in my brain. delicious. I brought a side home for the family. Like Corn Nuts? These are better - on my palate. Others have noted higher Salt is the forward flavor in many dishes. It does not ruin the complexity of the Peruvian dishes. It is present. Chupe is Shrimp Chowder. it is ver6 good. My dish was Aguadito - a cilantro based chicken soup, more like stew, loaded with chicken, potatoes, beans and other Peruvian goodness. We had a side of fried platoons- tender, slightly sweet plantain. If you adventure in dining, travel through food, appreciate multi-faceted long, social meals. Try El Chullo.

After a long day of work, this was exactly what I needed! It was my first time trying Peruvian food, and my coworker recommended the Lomo Saltado--I'm so glad I listened! The sauce was incredibly flavorful, and every element of the dish came together perfectly. If you're craving comfort food that's packed with vibrant flavors, the Lomo Saltado is a must-try here. Definitely a dish worth coming back for!

My friends and I enjoyed another fantastic meal at El Chullo a couple weeks ago after an event downtown. This small family-owned joint is not to be overlooked. The service is quick and friendly, and the food is always fresh and delicious. This visit we started with the Anticuchos. For entrees the group got Lomo Saltado, Arroz con Pollo, and Jalea Mixta. Everything was delicious - not a single complaint. The inside of this location isn't very big so depending on how busy it is you may have a wait, but it's definitely worth it. There is additional parking behind the restaurant if all the spots out front are occupied.

A must visit spot in the melrose district. I'm aware there's another location but I believe this spot has better parking. All the food was delicious and we definitely got quite a good spread from the octopus to the lomo saltado which is a must try. Also the best stew was good as well! The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. The bartender himself came over and delivered our drinks. He had a little extra from one the drinks my wife orders so he poured out a little more for some of us to sample. We were there for a good amount of time b her didn't feel rushed at all. It was a very relaxed but fun spot to be and had a cool ethnic interior with cool decorations which matched the food. Again this place is a must try and we will be back!

Lomo Saltado & Ceviche de Pescado

I had the Lomo Saltado (beef) and my friend had the Ceviche de Pescado (fish) for lunch. The service was quick and the ladies were so kind in explaining the menu and their recommendations. This was my first time trying Peruvian food so she recommended their #1 best seller. The Lomo Saltado was so flavorful. The beef was a bit on the tougher side for me and in the end I couldn't really finish it all since it was a lot of chewing. The ceviche de Pescado was creamy and refreshing. It just melted and fell apart in your mouth. With the fresh slices of red onion and peanuts, it suited my palate more. This is a small restaurant but it is super cozy. It is also really close to N 7th street so make sure to slow down when turning right into their parking lot.

El Chullo is a humble spot in Phoenix that packs a lot of flavor! Ceviche - a good portion and I enjoyed how thin the onions were and the crunch of the peruvian corn. The dish tastes fresh, and citrusy. Causa with crab - crab potato salad so if you enjoy dishes with a soft texture, this is for you. I think I was expecting more of a punch of flavor with the vibrant color. Anticuchos - very tender skewers and I liked the blistered tomato sauce! Pisco mango and Arribaria (Peruvian eggnog) - both very dense drinks but they were smooth!

This Peruvian food was very good! I got the ceviche de pescado, which was super flavorful! It's raw fish and red onions, sweet potatoes, corn, with an acidic, creamy sauce. It is served cold, so don't be thrown off by that! The only thing is I wish it came with a noodle or rice or something. The service was good. The restaurant is pretty small and there aren't many parking spaces. I would come back!

The decoration s worthy of an Incan goddess

The place is beautiful, the staff are amazing and the food is delicious - actually calling it delicious just isn't good enough to describe the symphony of flavors your palette will enjoy

I had a wonderful dining experience at El Chullo Peruvian Restaurant. I started with a cocktail that had mango and cinnamon--although I can't remember the name, it was perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. For the appetizer, we ordered the tostones, which were crispy on the outside and soft and slightly sweet on the inside. I paired them with a side of aji verde sauce, which was fresh, herby, creamy, and had just the right amount of spice. The combination was fantastic. For my main course, I chose the Frijoles con Seco a la Nortena. Described as a beef stew on the menu, it came out more like a savory beef gravy with tender, flavorful pieces of beef. The beans and rice were a perfect accompaniment. The service was attentive and professional, and though the 7th Street location is small, it's well worth arriving early to avoid a wait. Highly recommended!

My friends and I stopped by this restaurant on our way back from an event. We were tired and extremely hungry so we were ready to eat. Our meals were perfect! I ordered the mushroom saltado since I'm vegetarian. I had never had it with mushroom before and I absolutely loved the flavor combination. We had to sit at the bar since the tables were full, but it was a good experience. The waitresses were kind and helpful when we needed something. If I'm ever back in the area craving Peruvian food, I'll definitely come back to this spot.

Great great food Small restaurant but worth making the trek Got the following: Ceviche mixto: 5 stars, so good we ordered one, ate all of it, and then ordered another and ate all of that as well Aji de gallina: 4 stars, delicious and above average from what I have had at other Peruvian places Lomo saltado: 4 stars, same comments as the aji. Good portions for both! Tamales: 5 stars, huge portions, awesome sliced onions on the sides. The green sauce on the side was spicy but amazing! Great drinks! Will definitely come back!!!

    Shrimp causa !!! So good!!!!
    Sindy E.

The restaurant is small but they also have space for bar seating. The parking lot is not good; there are about 5 spots, and they are hard to get to and more difficult to get out of because you have to reverse into the busy street. The food is delicious, especially the Shrimp Causa. I got the Beef Seco a la Nortena, and that is also really good. The purple drink "chicha morada" is too sweet for me. Good drink menu. The service was fast for lunchtime, and customer service was good. Overall, a great place to try new dishes. I will come back again for more of that Causa.

The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Service was excellent and the patio was well-lit and had heaters ready for colder weather. Vecina is on the pricier side for sure, but you will not be disappointed.

Good music not too loud like other "high end" spots in Scottsdale that try to do too much. They also had a fire performer in the middle of our dinner which added to the ambiance. We sat inside but the outdoor seating also looked nice. During the day this place would have great views of the golf course I imagine. Onto the food, oysters were great quality, fresh but still briny. Had a pineapple mignonette that complimented well. My gf doesn't like oysters but these were small enough for her to enjoy with the added sweetness. Calamari was also solid, had a great chipotle aioli and ginger scallion oyster sauce on the side. The salmon ceviche was a bit of a let down. More like a crudo if you ask me, but still great flavors. Cocktails were great too! The corn mezcal was super unique. Not the biggest mezcal person but it sounded too good to pass up and definitely glad I tried it. My gf got the pisco sour and it was perfectly tart but refreshing. The lobster fried rice was better, but small portions and a very small lobster serving made us wonder how this dish cost $49. We hoped me might finish with a dessert to pick up the mood after a lackluster meal. The salted carmel brownie we decided on wasn't great; tasteless and bland, it just wasn't worth it.
