There's a patio area with misters, but definitely make a reservation beforehand as it can get busy and it's a smaller restaurant (can also request indoor seating). They'll also validate parking at the garage. We came for dinner before a show at the Mortgage Matchup Arena (which is just a quick 0.5 mile walk over). Happened to hit happy hour, which was just a few dollar savings, but nice. We tried the following: -Empanada Pabellon with Pernil: loved the plantains inside mixed the pork! -Empanada Colombiana Beef: good -Pollo and mango tostones: the tostones itself were a bit tough to chew on -Ceviche mixto: I've never had fried calamari with ceviche but it was nice and refreshing mixed with it! -Piña Tiradito: presentation was lovely and tasted just as great! I can never taste the fruit or make out the flavors for ciders and I'm a sucker for anything guava so was excited for the Sazon guava hibiscus cider, and while it was nice, sadly couldn't make out the flavors. The place was very cute, no reservations necessary but possible if desired. They had seating indoor as well as a front patio, the day was nice so my friend and I chose to sit outside, the tables we're outdoorsy with big umbrellas to cover from the sun, they also had a mist going on to keep it cool. They had upbeat music playing that gave the last touches to the place. The hostess was nice and so was our server. The menu was pretty easy to read and lots of options. They had a full bar as well as some mocktails which always brings a twinkle to my eyes! We started off with the plátanos with some crema and cheese and they were good. We decided to eat empanadas and so we ordered one of each, we enjoyed very much but the shrimp empanada was our absolute fav. The only thing I wish was that the potions were bigger, we had to order a few rounds of empanadas before we could fill up. For dessert, we had the empanadas (again, I know) with banana and coconut ice cream... omg so so delish! The food was good and so was our experience, they did ask for us to leave after chit chatting for a while since our table was reserved for someone else which I found odd since I saw plenty of other open tables but anyway, eye on how much time you spend there but other than that, it was a pleasant time, I must add, that it is pricey, so keep that in mind if choosing to eat here! read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch after the farmers market. I got the pollo mango tostones and traded one for a pork tostone with my boyfriend. My other friend got a pollo mango burrito, which was HUGE. I've been here a couple times and both times the food has been amazing and the service very friendly and helpful. You can't go wrong with any of the empanadas. Between the beef and the pork, I would give the edge to the pork, but both are great. I also tried the spicy pork tacos and the arepa. The arepa is definitely my favorite, but the tacos are still a good choice. The margaritas have all been really tasty too. Next time I hope to try one of the ceviches. I came here with a big group to celebrate a birthday and it was fantastic! When it's cooler, the outside seating is quite the vibe. Good music and a green patio with lots of plants that make it feel almost private. The server recommended to start with empanadas and I didn't have to be told twice. The shrimp empanada was perfect, 10/10. For the entree I was heavily debating one of the dinner specials or the ceviche. I love ceviche but I wasn't sure it would be filling enough so I went with the arepa. Turned out to be plenty filling and very tasty! I ordered the El Duro El Original Rice Bowl and it was the perfect balance of everything. The slow-roasted pernil with chimichurri and the mix of chipotle aioli, sriracha, and their signature BBQ sauce was a total flavor explosion! Also, I could eat a massive plate of just those crispy plantains they topped it with. YUM! My friend and I also ordered the beef empanadas, and she didn't stop talking about how good they were the entire night. To top it all off, the live music creates such a great atmosphere. A friend suggested we check this place out and I'm so glad I finally did! It was easy to get a weekend reservation for a group, which I appreciated, and a crowd pleaser. They're in the Heritage Square district, inside a converted home, so conveniently downtown (plan your transportation strategy accordingly). They serve a variety of options: empanadas, ceviche, burritos, bowls, and a couple fancier large plates. Ordering to share is definitely the move. My favorite dish is the pork empanada. Their meat is slow cooked for hours and sweetened with the addition of plantain inside the pastry. It's a can't miss dish. The ceviche is also lovely and not fishy tasting. The Arizona burrito is craveably super umami, and the pollo and mango tostones are nicely light and bright. If the staff tell you something is spicy, believe them. They also have a wine list and a variety of cocktails, including your classic South American flavors like passionfruit and pisco. On weekend nights, they have some live music. We had a 2 hour wait for a restaurant across the street, so we came in here for some drinks and empanadas to hold us over. We sat at the bar which only has about 5 seats. We asked them to turn on the Tv and dial up the Diamondback game. I mentioned that the game was on Apple TV and they might not be able to get it, but they said they would get it done, and they did. Everyone that we encountered were super friendly. We ordered a beef empanada and a shrimp empanada. I love empanadas and the beef one was awesome, real tasty beef, almost birria like. The beef was a little tough and the shrimp had some spice but didn't leave a lasting impression. The aborrajado empanada was different with its sweet plantain and cinnamon notes, more of a one-time try than something I'd crave again. Some of the other dishes were hit or miss. The pork tostones were a bit tough and hard to eat, and the shrimp ceviche didn't really come together, tasting more like chips and dressing than a balanced dish. Drinks and desserts had a similar mix. The passion fruit slush was bright and refreshing, while the sangria missed the mark and leaned more like cold wine. The coconut gelato was the best way to finish, sweet, creamy, and loaded with coconut flakes. My absolute favorite restaurant in Arizona! Que Sazon is a family owned business that truly cares about their patrons. I have seen this first hand as Julie and Fabian get to know those that they serve. The service is fantastic, and all the food comes out as ready, keeping the taste the way it should be. The empanadas come out fast, with pork being a staple and my favorite. The avocado garnish is a nice addition, and the portion size for each empanada is perfectly satisfying. The chicken and mango tostones are one of my favorite appetizers! A mix of sweet and savory. I recommend starting with the maduros (fried plantains). This will start your meal off on the right note, and should impress any in your party. For a main, my favorites are the Pabellon Arepa at dinner, and either the pollito asado (crispy stripe of mango with chicken) or the steak tacos. I am also a huge fan of all the ceviche dishes, with the colombiano being my favorite. The drinks are also well made, and they have a nice selection of tequila and rum. Sitting outside is enjoyable in on the cooler days, and they have both fans, misters, and heater to help patrons with both the high daytime temperatures and late night lows. My husband and I randomly went to this restaurant on a Friday evening after attempting another one that was way too busy. This one had great reviews and I was really excited to try the food. I actually didn't prefer these though, as they had a canned fish taste to them.. a bit like tuna. We tried the chicken, the beef, and the shrimp empanada, all of which were good. My husband ordered the Arizona burrito and he liked it. He also ordered the ceviche that had a sashimi presentation to it. It was very creative and different, and also good. However, they were out of the chips that they would usually give with it. They kind of presented it with a period, telling us to just eat the ceviche in the sauces it came with. We didn't like that, so we asked for something to substitute what was missing & they gave us some fried plantain I think it was. I got the short rib dinner special, and I thought the flavors mixed very well together. My only complaint was that it was soo fatty. I felt as though I was barely getting any meat and did not feel it was a good value for the $30 price tag. They made this right and were very kind about it. I would order the dish again, just with the understanding that sometimes it'll be a little fattier and sometimes it may not. I hadn't had this experience in ordering short rib before but will remember it now. I really appreciate restaurants like this that give us a taste of something different . What a charming place! And such great food. We were in the area and ended up having a late lunch here and everything was perfect. Julie took great care of us and was so personable and helpful! We sat on the patio which has lots of umbrellas, misters, and greenery - including some large containers growing cilantro and greens. You could easily pretend you weren't in the desert. We got a margarita and a Pisco sour, both delicious, and a pork empanada and the chicken and mango tostones to start. Both were excellent! The chicken and mango tostones are a little challenging to eat in that it has so much topping, but is one of the most delicious things I've eaten. We ended up having another order and I'm still thinking about them today. We also had some pork tacos which were delicious, especially with some extra of that fantastic chimichirri aioli. I saw a sign out front with happy hour specials but didn't take a picture. It doesn't seem to be on their website but they do have happy hour, and I believe they validate 1 hour of parking in the Heritage Square Garage. My neighbor had the 2 vegetable postponed, she loved them. She's a vegan so her dish and our shared dishes were ordered without the cotija cheese. JUST DELICIOUS! I had a pork empanada to start. Yassssss!!! the pork was deliciously spiced, tender stuffed with black beans, a piece of plantains, avocado and other deliciousness. It was topped with a green creamy splat of tastiness! Then I ordered 2 pork tostones, AGAIN, DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I think it's owned by sisters. They were busy! And the service was pretty GREAT! We had a young man that was helpful with the menu. Recommended the palomas. He said they are good and he didn't care for grapefruit. The drinks are not weak! :) They are good. I can't wait to go back! I want to try the margaritas. Don't be turned off by when you walk up and may not be greeted to be seated immediately. The woman that owns this place is involved in this business. Her sister is too. I'm so happy I tried Que Sazon. The food was incredible, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was intimate in a comfortable way. First, the food. Their ceviche and tiradito are among the best, if not the best, I've ever had. The fish had the perfect texture, and the leche de tigre with coconut milk was so smooth and balanced. The Ceviche Tradicional Peruano also had a sweet potato purée and two kinds of choclo/maíz (the boiled mote pelado and crunchy canchita style), which added nice earthy flavors and really fun textural contrasts. I tried the dessert empanadas on a whim, and doing so was definitely the right call. I've never tried aborrajados (a sweet plantain and cheese dish), but I loved the empanada take on them. The plantain and cheese filling was creamy without being gummy or mushy, and the empanada shell was fried to perfection. And somehow, it wasn't overly sweet! I came during a conference, and since the restaurant is so close to the convention center, it was often packed in the later dinner hours. I managed to get a seat at the bar the first time I came, and even though he was busy with non-stop orders, the bartender made time to have a nice conversation with me.
