The most convenient ordering ahead process, perfect dinner for a random Tuesday :) It really is the best burrito stop!

Avoid going during the lunch rush! I came for the shredded beef green chili burrito and while it was worth it, the wait was about an hour so just be prepared. That said, the burritos are stiffy solid (literally and figuratively), the asada is always flavorful, and their signature slushies are a must. I haven't tried the shrimp yet, but it's on my list. Can't get away from the green chili personally lol Parking can be hit or miss during peak hours, but the turnover is pretty quick. The staff are super patient, even when it's busy, which makes ordering a lot less stressful. This spot is great whether you're doing pickup, walking in, or hanging out. There's plenty of outdoor seating and the whole vibe feels like a chill beachy burrito shack. I've been coming here for a while and it never disappoints. Just expect the line to keep getting longer because it's that good.

What a fun place/concept this time got a little crazy with the tacos for a friends gathering at our house. Pick what you want burrito/quesadilla/ taco or bowl exc. then protein and sauce, truly customizable. Usually I get a shrimp taco and the loaded nachos! Sooo good, the only thing I 86 off the nachos is the cabbage slaw (I'm not a slaw person) FYI highly recommended I always add rice and black beans to the nachos! (Why don't more nachos come with rice?) It works so well in my opinion at least. FYI my other half always gets the grilled dog with feta, jalapeños, bacon beans and pico, and he loves it! Lemonade slushies is a perfect drink for this summer Phoenix climate. ,

I had pretty high hopes for Beach House because of the large number of reviews and strong overall rating, but unfortunately my experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The service was actually great. From the moment I ordered, I only waited a couple of minutes before my food was brought out to my table, which I really appreciated. As for the food, it was mid at best. The only things I genuinely enjoyed were the passionfruit lemonade slushy and the chips. I ordered the chips with pico, the passionfruit lemonade slushy, and two shrimp tacos. The tacos were honestly a letdown. The tortillas were thick and the texture just felt off to me, which made them difficult to enjoy. They also came with chipotle mayo, which I'm personally not a fan of. That part is on me for not noticing it on the menu, so I wouldn't necessarily fault the restaurant for that. What really turned me off, though, was the bathroom. I walked in because I needed to use it and immediately walked right back out. It was dirty, had flies flying around, and honestly gave the vibe of a poorly maintained public restroom. That definitely impacted my overall impression of the place. That said, it's clearly a popular spot. The line was long when I arrived and didn't get any shorter after I ordered, so plenty of people seem to love it. For me personally, though, it just didn't hit the mark. Since I was only in town traveling for work, the odds of returning were already low--but after this experience, I can confidently say I wouldn't come back.

Had a weeknight dinner here. Got two grilled fish tacos and one shrimp. Both were phenomenal! The sauce and salsa were great additions as well.

The Beach House Tacos had been on my list for a long time, and I finally got to try it. The menu is quite extensive--tacos, burritos, nachos, rice bowls, and even hot dogs. My husband and I both went for rice bowls: he chose the Surf & Turf, and I ordered the Cactus Veggie Bowl. The portion sizes were on the smaller side, but they felt fair for the price. Nothing is overpriced like some of the more popular taco spots. Flavor-wise, the Surf & Turf was good but nothing extraordinary. I enjoyed my Cactus Veggie Bowl as well. The one downside for both of us was the excessive chipotle mayo--it overpowered the other flavors. We ordered the mango habanero salsa on the side, and that was definitely a highlight--really delicious. Overall, it's not a place I'd crave or go out of my way to revisit, but if you're in the area, it's worth a try. It's good value for money.

I just got back from California yesterday for a quick trip where I had some delicious So Cal taco shop food that I enjoyed. This fun CA inspired beach shack was something I would expect to see at the beach, but there it is on my way to Arcadia :) This spot was solid. $2.50 for a taco, yes please. I happened to place my order online and then went to pick it up. This was my first time trying this restaurant and it was great that I pre-ordered. It was pretty busy when I arrived at 1pm on a Saturday. The prices are great, I had a fish taco, cheese & veggie quesadilla, and a bean & cheese burrito for $15 something. The food was good. I like how it's very casual and unassuming. I took no issue with the items I tried, and I really liked the green and volcano salsa. Good flavor! Next time I'm in the area I would definitely come back and try other items. They have outdoor seating so this is a nice weather spot. If there's any other seating I didn't see it.

Loaded Pork Quesadilla, Fried Fish Taco, and Cactus Taco

They were very busy when I visited (line out to the side walk) but it went quite fast and after I ordered my food was out in about 10 minutes! I got the fish taco, cactus taco, and loaded pork quesadilla. Fish taco was very fresh (not fishy at all!) and was melt in your mouth tender. The cactus taco was incredible, so fresh tasting and perfectly seasoned I would say it's a must try! the pork quesadilla was tender, cheesy, and full of flavor. I also got the desert pop slush to drink and it was refreshing and a great pairing to the food. I ate so much food but didn't feel gross and bloated so I know it was good quality stuff! The outdoor seating and decor was great and really fit well with the food. Come check this place out!

The Beach House hits the spot every time If I'm anywhere within a 15-20 minute radius, I'm pulling up--no question. Bomb fish tacos, bomb shrimp tacos, and a super delicious surf & turf bowl. And you can't forget the Rick & Morty blended lemonade... only $3! Whole meal was under $30 for fresh, mouthwatering food Easy 5 stars--the food and the vibe really bring those true beach vibes. Can't wait to be back

The Beach House doesn't have ocean views, but it does have food that tastes like a vacation! Prices won't break the bank. we ordered Fish Tacos (Fried to perfection) Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Carne Asada Burrito was surprisingly balanced with every bite. The Fish Bowl was flavorful, fresh, and light enough to pretend I was making healthy choices.nThe service is lightning fast - and considering how long the lines can get, the staff handles it all like seasoned pros. Bottom line - Delicious food. Affordable prices. Speedy service. Total must-try.

So my husband has been wanting to try this place for over 3 years and we finally made it today! This little taco spot is all the rage. The locals visit here and the lines are long. My husband had the grilled fish burrito. The fish was delish, the beans were fire, and loved the slaw guacamole and hot sauce. I tried loaded nachos with green chili shredded beef. The beef had great flavor and the ooey gooey nacho cheese sauce was good. I will definitely get tacos or a burrito next time as I caught myself drooling over my husband's burrito and the people next to us tacos. We sat outside as that's the only downside in the summer- no indoor seating. The misters were helpful to keeping us cool as was the watermelon green apple slushy known as trick or treat slushy. Please try this place when you are in the area. It really is worth the time

Came around 6pm. Got lucky finding a spot in the lot and a bench to sit at. Really lucky because my friend got there first and waited about 15 minutes before getting to the front and ordering for us. Food came out fairly quickly, they brought it to us at the bench we were at. The grilled fish taco and carne asada were amazing. Next time I do, I would probably not ask for cheese because its just not my vibe but good flavor in each bite. Youre able to get a side of green salsa which definitely adds to the flavor. Would like to try the shrimp taco next . My friend got the shrimp quesadilla fully loaded which was really flavorful! Would get that next time as well. Weather was also perfect out. Great night to eat out.

My daughter and I were in central Phoenix and craving tacos. We happened to be driving by and saw The Beach House. We made a quick stop. What a cute, funky place. It reminds me of a California beach shack, a mixture of hippie meats surfer. I Loved the 1960's Volkswagen out front. You order at the counter and then eat at picnic tables on the patio. We ordered the Baja tacos, I got the 3 shrimp tacos and my daughter got the 3 fish tacos. We also ordered chips and guacamole. 3 tacos are $7, great deal! Food came out fast and tacos were delicious!!! Next time we would try the fish tacos grilled instead of fried. Also they never asked if we wanted flour or corn tortillas, maybe I was supposed to specify? Either way they were great! Their motto is "Come Hungry, Leave Happy," and we sure did!

Ask the Community - The Beach House

Is this any good for groups?

It's got a walk up 🌬️ e and a bunch of picnic tables. Depends on how many in your group I would suppose.

    How long are wait times?

It only took about 6-7 minutes as food is made fresh there. If it's busy it would be longer.

Is the rice made with chicken stock or vegetable broth?

Is the cabbage slaw mayo or vinegar based?

How far in advance do you order online for lunch?

As far in advance as you want to. It does get busy between 11-1 but if you're 30 minutes away order when you're about 10 minutes out of that makes sense.

    Is it byob?

I actually asked the owner! It used to byob but now they've been told they have to complete fence off their restaurant in order to keep it byob. Therefore, as for now, it's not byob any more. 😔

    Is the patio dog friendly?

I believe so although I cannot recall seeing any.

    Are the tortilla chips non-GMO?

I don't know the answer to that one

    Do they sell gift cards?

Yes they sell gift cards now.

GREAT Food, But Apparently Service Is Now a Scavenger Hunt…read more This is a tough review to write because the food at The Mexicano is still A+. Unfortunately, this week's experience made it impossible to keep my previous 5-star rating. We stopped in around 1:30 p.m., when there were literally maybe six other people in the entire restaurant. Somehow, we managed to have three different waiters because each one became preoccupied with something else. At one point, we had to get up and go to the bar ourselves to ask for things. Nothing says "full-service restaurant" quite like having to become your own waiter. And then there are the recent changes to the menu and happy hour. Happy hour for individual tacos is no longer seven days a week--it's now Tuesday which has been reduced to one $3 taco. One. Taco. Refer to menu I've uploaded. I have no idea if this is an attempt to cut costs (there hasn't been a change in ownership), but if that's the strategy, I worry it's going to be a case of saving a few dollars while losing a lot of customers. Cutting back on the things that made people love coming here--great service, variety, and an appealing happy hour--doesn't exactly feel like a recipe for success. To be clear: this review has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the food. The food remains excellent. A+. The issue is the overall experience and the noticeable changes to what used to make The Mexicano such a great place to visit. We've had consistently great experiences here in the past, which is why I originally gave it 5 stars. I genuinely hope they reconsider these changes, because I'd much rather be writing another 5-star review than updating this one. Great food + increasingly nonexistent service + a disappearing happy hour = a restaurant that may be eating its own lunch.

It's on the corner of a strip mall, there was some etched graffiti on the outside windows, which made you aware of the area you were in. (That's the reason for the 1 star deduction.) The place is very small! So yes, you WILL want to make a reservation. We went around 3:30 on a Friday and I would say 3/4 of the tables had reserved signs on them starting at 5pm on up. The receptionist was constantly back and forth looking at them and moving them around to make space for walk-ins. I would skip bringing your kids here. I didn't use the restroom so idk if that was nice or not. The food was fantastic! And the portions were big. The price matched the portions and quality in our opinion. It's hard to find quality food that's worth the cost lately. We enjoyed the chips and salsa. And hubby ordered a Mexican coke, and the server brought him a frosty glass for it. Everyone around us looked like they were enjoying their food. Our server was great. He chatted with us for a while when we told him about seeing the place on IG. He was grateful for the customers. But admitted, it's caused an influx of people and the 'regulars' have become annoyed. Which is understandable. I opted for both the red chile and green chile sauce which coated the chips along with a generous layer of tangy cotija cheese. Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.

First of all, eating anywhere in Tempe, starts with a frustrating time.... Trying to find parking and having to pay to park. I don't understand why restaurants don't have parking for customers. Idk maybe I don't know where to look. Second, it's hot AF in here. I feel sorry for the guys cooking. It's 105 today and the restaurant is so small, it's probably impossible to keep cool during the summer. Finally, the food. It all tastes very fresh! NO SEED OILS is amazing. I feel like I have won something when I find a restaurant that uses olive oil and beef tallow to cook in. Best corn tortillas I have had for sure. We basically tried one of each taco. (Although some of the tacos we ordered were wrong, so we just kept adding) not a big deal, because they were delicious and we loved them. I felt like the carne was chewy but my husband loves chewier meat. The taco with the marlin was my favorite. And the one that came out kind of like a cheese crisp. It's loud in here and again the space is very small. They do not serve wine at all. But yummy margaritas! The bartender is working solo and working hard! She busted her butt and did an amazing job. And smiled the entire time. She was awesome

My friend ordered a burrito and I wanted some lite, I picked the mini seafood tower, with all sauces and avocado on the side. Server brought out complementary seafood tostadas. Insert the most fire drinks we've scene in a while and they all can be made NonAlcoholic! Needless to say we had no clue what we were getting ourselves into and we were glad cus the prices were high but the drinks were large and delicious! All of my three daughters and my wife felt so cool with their drinks and loved every sip. Our friends said their food was good and one of which got the coolest pineapple drinks we'd ever scene! Along with amazing chips and salsa we are very excited to come back and get some food as this is a stellar top notch seafood place with amazing drinks people and an all around experience

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
