After deciding on where to head for lunch, I'm so happy we came here, to Tacos Huicho. Situated on the freeway frontage road, you'll find this hidden gem. Upon entry, you'll first find a pastry case with a wide selection of freshly made pan dulce which is all self serve. The gentleman at the ordering counter was very friendly & pleasant! The menu offers a huge variety of authentic dishes such as menudo, tamales, Gorditas even birria estilo Jalisco! Note that pozole, menudo & birria are served on weekends only. We opted for tacos de asada, Gordita de asada & birria. The birria was EXCELLENT. I only know of one other local place that serves this type of birria dish and it was as authentic as can be. Served soup style in a bowl, the broth was flavorful, spicy and very tender meat. Served with corn tortillas, make for excellent dippers into the broth. The Gordita was also excellent, and very generously portioned. Smothered with refried beans & topped with lettuce, tomato & queso fresco, this is a must try! Everything was excellent and I keep asking myself how I didn't know of this place sooner. The inside has a fair amount of tables, but beware it gets PACKED, so plan with time. Tacos Huicho was a very good experience. What you want in a taco shop. No frills just good grub. I had the Al pastor taco which was one of my favorite street tacos I've had, the sweet pineapple chunks with the savory pork is exquisite. Also had the best hot salsa with some real growing heat behind it. My wife had an asada taco she really enjoyed with the guacamole salsa. Single bathroom and $1.50 feet if you want to pay with card so I'd advise cash. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Definitely would be back my favorite taco in Phoenix thus far. read more

Good spot for late night taco run! They're open until midnight which is super cool! Between my boys and I we had 2 tongue tacos, 3 al pastor tacos, a tamal and rice and beans. The rice and beans were not it. Idk why not everyone can get the rice good it looks more like crumbs vs actual rice ? It's weird but I went for the tacos and they did not disappoint. The tongue was PERFECT, Al pastor too! The red salsa was SPICY which I loved! The tamal was ok too. The masa had good flavor. I also had the agua de piña which is pineapple water. It tasted powder bag mix and sweet which is lame because I love pineapple. The service was ok? The counter girl seemed passive aggressive like she was annoyed of my questions. I asked what the difference between "harina" tacos and "corn" tacos were and she said ones flour and ones corn and gave me a dumb look. I shouldn't be spending $40+ for tacos that's insane. And it can't be just the economy because there are similar spots that are no where near these inflated prices. This is my go to spot for authentic and reasonably priced tacos. I'm constantly surprised when people get excited to pay $4 a taco somewhere inferior. It's often busy here, but they deserve to have a line out the door constantly for the price and value. It's always worth the wait (which is usually shorter than it looks). My family and I usually go for tacos, but I've also tried the torta, quesadilla, and burrito and never been disappointed. My go to order is three pastor tacos and a (free) side of grilled onions. Their house green salsa is the best, and always available to drizzle on anything. If you're getting food to go, they'll throw in little cups of the salsas, but I prefer eating on the spot to enjoy how fresh everything is. Pro tip: pay attention to your number being called in Spanish. The employees are not always/exclusively speaking English. Also, get the rice pudding cup. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for years & it saddens me that I had the Worst customer service ever. Young lady took my order with red hair , I noticed that on my receipt that it said to eat there , so I walked up and told the young lady if I could please get it to go because it said for here , they started talking back and forth to each other and the young lady who took my order then proceeds to tell me that I asked for it to eat here and said " they already poured it " so I asked if that meant I couldn't get it to go because she had such a bad attitude and it felt like she was trying to pressure me to eat there. So I was waiting for my food, I was standing there watching my food it's like they were purposely letting it get cold to get back at me for asking for it to go or something because It was literally just sitting there , I asked for her name and she gave me an even bigger attitude & I asked for my refund to which she responded that no manager was in. Which I don't understand as a business how there is not someone in charge to take care of things like this ; I guess that explains why the employee was so rude because there's no one there to coach her she even called me " bruh " she said " there's no one in charge what don't you understand bruh " I will be in tomorrow for my refund or 50 plus dollars. They also don't let you get your own fixings salsas limes etc. they give you what they want. Pastor was flavorless and dry taco. They give you 2 bottles of salsa with the food. One red one green guac/green salsa. Delicious salsas! Asada tacos were dry no flavor really. Everything needed some salt. The Jamaica was TOOOO sweet... not enough flavor just sugar water. I payed $41.71 and they charged me $1.50 to use my debit card. Willl definitely NOT be going back again. I feel robbed for what I got. Tacos are small in size also. Found this place on Yelp and knew I had to try it during my trip here in Phoenix, and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Came around 1pm on a Saturday and there were lots of tables and seats but by the time we started eating about 20 minutes later it was packed. Tried the steak, pastor, lengua, and tripe tacos. Also had a chicken sope. I think my favorites were the steak and tripa, so delicious!!!! Also had a horchata (not my favorite, wish it had more cinnamon). Workers were nice, food came out in about 20 minutes which was fine since we ordered 16 tacos, 1 sope, and 1 menudo. Prices were great too (back home tacos are $3/taco so this place was a steal for us, jealous of those who live here!) Definitely come here, come hungry, and be patient, food is worth it! read more

My son found this place to eat lunch after visiting a nearby church. It was a little busy, but we didn't wait too long to place or receive our order. The gentleman who took our orders was very polite, apologizing for our wait. He told us about other options and was patient with my son making some changes. I chose a combo so I could try a couple different things. The street tacos were average; nothing to differentiate from other Mexican restaurants. Beans and rice were fine. The tamale was pretty good, just a tiny bit spicy. My son thought his quesadilla was okay. He complained about the horchata being made from a powder mix. We paid around $30; a little expensive for lunch. Portions were good. I ate from my meal twice. I'd visit again. There are other meal and dessert options I wouldn't mind trying. Terrible customer service. Ordered food and we were paying in cash, the manager told the cashier she wasn't allowed to take cash. Refused to take legal tender. Was rude about taking cash and they asked us to pay card but they charge $1.50 extra to use card. It is always busy and for good reason. Their food is really good, I have loved everything I've had here but the staple is their street tacos. It's very good quality meat and flavor for the price.
