I decided to give this place a try. I've been passing by it for years and I was in the mood for some fast Mexican food. I ended up ordering the Carne Asada fries, which were pretty good. It's quite a distance away from my house, but I was in the area, but I'll definitely be back here once I'm more closer to this part of town. if you're in the area, give them a try. Don't go here If you expect to get hot food. I used to go pretty regularly until they started giving me enchiladas with cold cheese inside of them. I gave them a couple of more tries, ordering different items. Cold again. The last time I went there (and believe me, it will be the very last time) I waited almost 20 minutes for my two items and when they were finally served to me, they were cold again! Never again! My family and I get food from here all the time. Food is good about sometimes the shredded beef is so dry and hard you can't even eat it. That doesn't happen all the time. My roommate recommended this place for breakfast burritos, so my boyfriend and I had to come try it out. It's a small place with a drive thru that is open 24/7. There is a small parking lot and two windows at the front of the establishment to order and benches for those that can't wait till they get home to eat their food. We ordered two chorizo, potato, egg, and cheese breakfast burritos. First of all, the size of the burrito for the price is unmatched (the two massive burritos were close to 13 dollars). We both couldn't finish our burritos in one sitting. Secondly, the service was great. The employees were patient with us since it was our first time visiting and provided us with abundant napkins and two different salsas. Last but not least, the burrito tasted delicious. The cheese was melted, the potatoes were charred, the chorizo was flavorful, and the eggs were light and fluffy. I read the reviews and thought this would be a good place to eat. I ordered the rolled tacos with rice and beans. Everything tasted burnt almost as if they cooked beans and didn't sell it so they reused it the next day and reheated it again. Placed what was my second order here. The first order wasn't perfect, but it was acceptable enough to where I felt comfortable ordering again. The second order paled in comparison, & while I normally don't bother leaving reviews like this, I'm making an exception in this case in hopes that the owner (if he/she is smart) will take the information in this review & use it to improve (after which point I'll glady provide an update). -1 STAR The first removed star would be due to the inability to order certain items that should be readily available for ordering on the delivery menu. All I actually wanted was a bean & cheese burrito (after truly enjoying the flavor of the beans/cheese as a side on my first order), but there is no option to order a simple bean & cheese burrito on the menu (at least not on the Doordash menu). How difficult would it be to include this on the delivery menu when you already have all of the ingredients right there? The same goes for TOMATO salsa, as I wanted a side of TOMATO salsa (like what you get with chips as an appetizer at most Mexican food restaurants) AND an extra side of beans/cheese at one point, but you're not able to order either one on the delivery app. Disappointing when there are so many other Mexican food options in the area that easily allow you to add such items to your delivery order. -1 STAR The next star removed is due to the amount of ice included in my drink when I specifically asked for LIGHT ice within the order details. I experienced this on both the first order AND the second order, which is disappointing as it lets me know that somebody is not paying attention to the requests that are submitted within any/all delivery orders. It is difficult to tell by looking at the attached picture, but I asked for "LIGHT ice" (for what is now the second time), yet the ice in my drink was filled nearly to the brim. When a drink has this amount of ice, the ice "sucks up" the drink, & in cases like what I experienced today (where the driver doesn't pay attention to the delivery instructions, gets lost, etc), that overabundance of ice also MELTS on a hot day & can leave your drink diluted & flavorless by the time your order finally arrives. -1 STAR The 3rd & final star removed is due to the overabundance of shredded lettuce in the order (an issue that I experienced in BOTH orders, once again). You hate to imagine this when you're spending x-amount of dollars for quality food, but it's almost as if the overabundance of lettuce is meant to "fill in" for other ingredients that are more costly, & this is an issue for someone like myself who does NOT get "full" from shredded lettuce. Seriously, it won't kill you to give the customer a bit more beans, rice, or whatever else, but when you're dumping TEN POUNDS of lettuce over top of everything just to mask the meager portion sizes, it sticks out like a sore thumb to the smart ones & it is VERY noticeable. As stated, i'll return & update this review should changes be made to the above items, & hopefully I can do this in the coming months. For the interim, I'll be taking a break from this place following this latest order & I will try some of the other Mexican Food options in the area. read more

I came here for dinner last night. I ordered an horchata to drink. It had a really nice cinnamony flavor to it and the horchata flavor was strong. I really like the horchata here. I ordered the 12 rolled tacos with guacamole, lettuce, and cheese. I was a little disappointed with how little lettuce and cheese there was on top of the rolled tacos. The amount I got on top I would expect for an order of 5, but definitely not 12. I also wish there was more guacamole, but I get it avocados are expensive. The rolled tacos themselves were super crunchy but not over cooked where you think you may break a tooth eating them. They were lacking a bit on the meat department on the inside. They need to add maybe 25% more meat so you can really actually taste it and not just the tortilla. The salsa here was good. I liked it, but it wasn't exactly a salsa I would tell other people about. I also ordered a flan. I was a little sad it was a store bought flan. The flan was super thick and not very creamy. I wouldn't buy it here again. The pricing seems reasonable for what you are getting. They have a drive through so you can order and take it home. If you want to stay and eat, you order at the window and they have sitting outside in this covered area. read more

However, when you lie and say "we're closed" 15 minutes before the posted time when there are still cars in the drive through is a slap in the face. I ordered the huevos rancheros, it was drowned in a gallon of salsa, and it did not come with ANY cheese however i asked for extra. though there should be queso fresco or AT LEAST cotija. no avocado, no salt, not even an option to add chorizo. Also, i thoroughly taste tested BOTH salsas and they taste like the Las Palmas canned enchilada sauce and they just added salt. (i think that's exactly what it is) The food for me was horrible and not cooked with passion. Will not be returning here. I've been coming to this place for years. I've always enjoyed every bite. But these last couple times that i have gone I'd like to say. Stay away from having their guacamole. It's nasty. It has a sweet flavor and the color is brown guacamole is green. I don't like to call and complain on restaurants so I didn't call. But I'd like to share my opinion on their guacamole. The meat is tasty yet the best "fast food" asada. But they do need to go back to their old guacamole recepi. Stop being cheap with your guacamole even if you have to charge more. Breakfast Burritos!!! When I say fantastic, it doesn't do it justice! Egg, Potatoes, Cheese, Bacon wrapped in a fresh tortilla. Big enough to spilt, if you're willing to share. They were so good we didn't even get a chance to take some pics. Green salsa is perrrrrfect, adds just enough pop of flavor. Ordered through Door Dash so not sure on the ambiance or atmosphere but I'm sure it wouldn't have disappointed. Was visiting for a weekend in the area and I made an early morning order for 6 ladies and added a custom note for the order for a few of the ladies. I was at my apartment complex and passed by someone eating the best looking chorizo and egg breakfast burrito ever! I had to ask him where he got it! He directed me to vaqueros and 10 minutes later, I was ordering my own breakfast burrito! It tasted just as amazing as it looked! It is a huge burrito and is a bang for your buck! This was probably my favorite taco spot In Phoenix, but after tonight I will never be going back. The girl with the purple or blue hair was awful. And this is what I got served I was honestly very upset and mad since I had a long drive back home. Hungry and ready to eat my delicious "Torta de machaca". Vaqueros is all the good things I need in a fast Mexican place: dual drive through, large menu, horchata, red or green hot sauce, crispy tacos piled with shredded cheese!! My favorite is the carne asada burrito- served super hot! Also the shredded beef tacos are awesome. I've gotten a combo with an enchilada before and both times the cheese inside was not melted. Let me start by saying my opinion is probably very biased. I grew up in South Phoenix down the street from their location on 19th ave and southern and Vaquers carne asada was Always the go to spot for food. I have cousins that whenever they come in from outta town we Have to take them to vaqueros to get their carne asada fries fix. Everything from their rolled tacos (the only thing I would order as a kid) to their monster burritos. Everything is good! My sister loves their shrimp cocktail while my father gets their tripas burrito (and they're always nice and crunchy.) Having moved to the east side of Phoenix and finding my own vaqueros close to my new home has made living here that much easier. The food is always consistent and delicious.
