I saw this spot driving down Hatcher and love a restaurant with many different salsas but come to find out the name is deceptive. They only call it 15 salsas because they are near 15th? I went with a friend on a Friday evening around 630 and there was no one there. That maybe should have been a sign? The dining area is small but cute and looks like there is a nice outdoor area as well. The waiter came over to us a few minutes after seating us but not with chips and salsa. That is when I asked about the 15 salsas or lack of 15 salsas. We had to ask for chips and then he brought us two hot sauces that looked house made but no real salsa. Chips were average and looked like they came from the bottom of the bag. I ordered a skinny margarita and it was also average. I asked for not a lot of ice but he must have misunderstood me and gave me a ton of ice. My friend got a house marg and I tasted it to confirm the mix was terrible. Now I am mostly a vegetarian so when I see an interesting veggie item on the menu I must try it. I got the squash blossom empanadas. The corn tortilla was clearly house made and it tasted pretty good until I got to the squash blossom. It was so gross I couldn't even eat anymore. It ruined it. Also before I couldn't eat anymore I ordered the pico de gallo because it came with nothing except a sad little lettuce garnish. The pico was tasteless. My friend got the vegetarian burrito and she enjoyed it. I had a little bite and also thought it was average. Overall I was unfortunately not a fan. I need a salsa bar!!!

Mole Enchiladas

Great spot for good Oaxacan food! Food: we ordered this dish to share which was a crispy tortilla with cheese, sayce and beans which was good but pretty spicy! I got the mole enchiladas which was absolutely delicious - probably one of the best mole I had on this trip. We also tried the three different moles and I think the mole negro which is the traditional one is the best Price: good for quantity Service: very nice and attentive workers Ambience: it's a small low key restaurant so nothing special about the ambience but still pleasent! Has a lot of seating

I love coming here. Everything is warm and flavorful. Service was great, we were well taken care of. The music was perfect and made the ambiance more nostalgic. The mole is my absolute favorite and cannot get enough of it. I highly recommend the enmoladas for everyone. It's the perfect dish to share and make a mess with. Pay them a visit and enjoy!

Truly authentic food and overall experience. Everything tasted fresh from the tortillas to the black beans, all seasoned well with exotic spices and unique flavors. The only thing making it a 4 not a 5 star was the live music was way too loud. If in the area try to stop in and bring an appetite!

It's a good size restaurant that can probably sit indoors about 30 people and their outdoor patio is pretty spacious too. The service was fantastic from the minute we walked in. Now I do have to say I did not want to take a whole star away for not having two items in their menu because the food was really tasty and true to the region of Oaxaca. Their agua frescas were so delicious and served so cute. The food presentation was also a plus.

It was a beautiful day to sit outside so loved that they had a patio. Staff were super sweet and had no problem giving us recommendations. Both plates we got were delicious and have came back a second time our last visit. Definitely a hidden gem!

Location; Found this place from a Foodie on TikTok, it is located on Hatcher road - small and itimate inside. Food; Very authentic food first ordered the memelas, so tasty and yummy. My main course was the Chili Relleno with just cheese, and it was really tasty. Everything was homemade, and fresh. I did order a michelado, that was very tasty. Service; everyone was super friendly, they literally crush the ice for all drinks and you can hear it.

Found this place a few weeks ago on our way to the Arizona Humane Society. The location is not the best and I wouldn't come alone at night. However, once you are inside the food and service make up for the location. The staff is friendly and the food is authentically delicious. My husband and I love tacos We decided next time to try something new as this restaurant is known for its Oaxaca food. I am not a big chocolate fan so I am not sure if I'll like it. However, I do love tamales and spicy food! What is Oaxaca cuisine???? Great question!! Oaxaca cuisine is from southern Mexico in the city of Oaxaca. Oaxaca is well known for its ingredients of chocolate which is prepared in preparation for hot species. Oaxacan-style tamales will have variations of mole sauce (mole sauce - local papers and Mexican chocolate. This is my year to step out of my comfort food zone and try new things!

Tlayuda Tradicional

Absolutely incredible. A must if you visit or live in Phoenix. My sister and I stopped by having never tried Oaxacan cuisine, and we are now big fans. First of all, I have never liked mole until I tried theirs in the enchilada trio. I also am not a big fan of meat but the tlayuda tradicional is mindblowing. I highly recommend this spot!!! The service was friendly and super helpful with the menu! The restaurant had spots to sit outside or in. We went around lunch time during a weekday so it was not crowded at all.

To die for. Chips are gratuit. Service is prompt and knowledgeable. The entrance is via the kitchen as this was once a home, now converted into a great eatery. So you come in the side door to the dining room . Wait staff all greet you and guide you to the dining room, festooned with roses and talavera tiles. It's not kitschy, just gorgeous. The menu is ample and you can't go wrong with anything. The initial refrito dip, tho yummy, has pork. But they have the best, the absolute best black beans!! Try them just for a change. You'll be converted. The dining area is small but cozy and beautifully done. So enjoy!!

The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

Also bring a group. The portions are huge and the food is clearly meant to be shared. Trust me on this one, bring friends. I've tried a bunch of dishes here, and there are a few I always go back to. For the table, Camarones Locos is an easy choice. The flame grilled shrimp comes out hot and full of flavor, perfect for passing around. La Patrona ceviche tower is massive and worth the order. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. I think about this dish at least once a week. The enchiladas are packed with lobster and crab, and the green sauce ties the whole thing together. Honestly, I could talk about this place all day. If you like Mexican food and seafood, you need to try it. Great food, big portions, and a menu that makes it hard to stop ordering.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
