Steak

The history is unbelievable and the steaks are excellent. The bartenders were attentive and offered good advice. The history really comes through inside.

Crème brûlée

Great service from Cecily tonight at the Stockyards steakhouse. I'm gonna keep this one short cause I'm tired and I still have a ways to travel tonight. I ordered a filet mignon with the mashed potatoes, side salad, glass of wine and a crème brûlée. Food and service are solid, Cecily was very attentive, and the prices are some of the best for the local steakhouses. I'll be back!

This place absolutely knocked it out of the park. We don't usually splurge on fine dining, but for my other half's birthday we decided to make an exception, and wow... we are beyond glad we did. From the moment we walked in, everything was phenomenal. The service was stellar, attentive without being overbearing, and made the whole evening feel special. The atmosphere was the perfect balance of upscale and welcoming, with an incredible vibe that still made our kids feel comfortable and included. Now the food... unreal. Every single thing we ordered was perfection. The steak was hands down the best I've ever had in my life, cooked flawlessly and portioned generously enough that we even had leftovers. The elk medallions were absolutely superb, tender, flavorful, and unforgettable. And the sides? Just as impressive. Every bite was beyond amazing and clearly crafted with care. Even my extremely picky 11-year-old, who rarely likes much of anything when we go out, loved his meal, which honestly says a lot all by itself. This dinner was everything we hoped for and more. Incredible food, amazing service, generous portions, and an experience that felt both special and comfortable. We will absolutely be back and will be telling everyone we know how much we loved it. Thank you for making this birthday celebration so perfect!

This is the 14 oz ribeye - house specialty. It is served with a compound butter and a bearnaise sauce with Parmesan potatoes and asparagus.

Beautiful steaks served perfectly cooked. I had the 14 oz local ribeye cooked to a perfect medium-rare with compound butter and bearnaise sauce; Parmesan potatoes and asparagus. It is a 5 star place but steaks are a 60-75$/plate investment.

Wedge Salad (split in half)
Lindsey K.

ABSOLUTELY a yes from me! The service was incredible and the food was AMAZING! For a starter we ordered a wedge salad and split it in half. We did have to ask for a couple of the toppings because it was missing some things when it came out but no prob! We ordered the filet with Parmesan potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and the potatoes might be the best I've ever had! We also ordered the bread pudding for dessert and it was great!

Strawberry Shortcake

Great food and nice huge bar area with one tv for sports watching. decent service.. Awesome ambiance..nice pictures in the restaurant and nice fancy dining area. Chili was a little spicy for my basic self . The steak was favorable..I feel you could get the same favorable steak at other places for less money. Prices is what gives it only 4 out of 5 stars..just my opinion. definitely try it and see what you think.. kind of forgettable to be honest. Prob recommend this place for large groups..it's quite nice

Overall we had a wonderful time at the Stockyards and enjoyed our meal! We came to celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed the lowkey atmosphere for a Sunday evening. The elk that my niece got was honestly the best bite most of us tried but all our steaks were cooked to preferred temp and very flavorful. The drinks were well made and the corn bread was tasty. Soups and salad were also good, but the Caesar salad was truly wonderful! Dessert was good but the main standout was the bread pudding. Omg so tasty and I don't even like bread pudding but this was just amazing!!! Only reason for 4 starts was service was slightly on the slower side and seemed questionable at first but as the evening went on it got better. Definitely plan on coming back with friends!

Absolutely delicious! The filet mignon was cooked perfect and well seasoned. The parmesan potatoes were sliced really thin and so good! Service was excellent & friendly. I would definitely go back.

It has been quiet some time since I've been to Stockyards. Glad we decided to go for date night. I love the feel of going to an old time saloon and see all the old menus and pictures of Arizona from years ago. From start to finish we enjoyed everything. The hostesses were friendly and greeted us with a smile, our server was pleasant and checked on us often, and the food was amazing. If you're looking for a date night restaurant you should definitely try Stockyards.

Chateaubriand for Two
Clem M.

Back for Round Two! Two weeks in Phoenix and I couldn't resist returning. This time we got the Chateaubriand for two. The salad was delicious. Ordered the Old Fashioned & Still Superb. The Beef Tenderloin was cooked to medium, but was a little rare in the middle. Still melt in your mouth superb steak. I tried it with each sauce and the creamed horseradish was the best. This didn't need any sauce and was perfect. The Parmesan potatoes were good. The Sautéed Button Mushrooms were perfect. The Brussel sprouts were good. Service was good. Looking for a Steak House and the Stockyards Restaurant sounded perfect. Ordered the Old Fashioned with Stockyards Bourbon by Outlaw Whiskey. Perfect Compliment with the steak. The Cornbread was good and the bread just ok. Went with the Baseball Sirloin with salad & garlic whipped potatoes. The steak was lean and cooked medium perfectly. The whipped potatoes were fluffy and paired perfectly with the sirloin. Lean & tender was excellent. The salad was fresh and delicious. The Crem Brûlée was absolutely phenomenal end to the meal. The service was superb. Loved the old style steak house. Would definitely recommend and return.

Steak with mashed potato and asparagus
Sterling A.

This was an amazing steak house and so much fun to go to with my family. Service was really good and professional as well as informative. The food was delicious and worth the price as everything was seasoned and made fresh. The ambiance is also really good when you have beautiful stain glass windows, great photos around, beautiful designs everything. It can get busy but that's expected when it comes to places like this. For sure go here and order whatever interests you most because it's all worth what you pay for. Try the creme brulee and strawberry shortcake for desert.

Bread Service

This is an old-fashioned Westernesque steakhouse with a cowboy-themed, cattleman's tone, design and décor from the dark wood aesthetics to the very abundant regional artifacts on the walls. This is really a very sophisticated ambience, with elegant and knowledgeable wait staff and overall attention to detail, with a vast and varied menu selection - not just steaks, as well as high end menu and so as is the pricing - purposefully I omitted the mention of value! Somehow my expectations from our previous visit were not met and we both walked away with a moderated view of this Arizona's famous 'original' steakhouse! We started our evening with excellent Sea Sun Pinot Noir and Felino Malbec servings. Yet, as aforementioned, everything til the moment of having our meal was fabulously superb and as a matter of fact, so was our post dinner time. Both my Wife's and my dinners were steak and as for mine I was especially surprised at the outcome. I ordered a Tenderfoot 8oz cut of Prime Rib, medium rare - yes it was but, I am used to a steak of this type to have been and usually plated, served on a warm platter whereby it retains its warmth when placed at the table. My steak was cold! Not only that, but the knife offered seemed dull enough to have a difficult time cutting through my steak. My Wife's Filet Mignon seemed tasty, appropriately cooked and proper to her, as was our side of asparagus. And I very much appreciated the birthday candled and fabulous tasting Strawberry Shortcake and the overall evening as a whole but could not pass without mentioning my unfortunate prime experience. With over 65 years of steak experience, both cooking and eating them I am well aware of a kitchen's dilemma and value their art and work - I do look forward to a potential next visit. And, I must emphasize that the ambience, attention to detail, atmosphere and John our Server were excellent. Hope to experience it again.

I was excited to finally try this place after hearing so much about it. It was my first time in, and I sat at the bar. The bartender started by telling me a bit about the history of the restaurant, which I appreciated and the woodwork around the bar really is beautiful. I was served a bread basket with a variety of breads, but they were barely warm, and some were actually burnt. I ordered a cup of steak soup, which turned out to be the best thing I had all night. For my main, I went with the 14oz prime-grade ribeye, along with creamed spinach and a twice-baked potato. When the steak arrived, the food runner dropped the plate in front of me without a word and walked away. That's a strange touch for an upscale restaurant. I had to ask the bartender what the two sauces on the plate were. He was surprised and a little disappointed that the food runner didn't explain anything, but he quickly fixed it and took care of me. Unfortunately, it was clear the food had been sitting in the window for a while. The steak looked dry and wasn't warm. None of the food was, really. I was hungry and didn't want to hold things up since they were closing in about 30 minutes, so I didn't send it all back--but I did return the creamed spinach. Room-temperature creamed spinach is just unpleasant. The steak was okay at best. For a $75 prime ribeye, I expected better. I took half of it home for breakfast, only to find that a good portion was full of gristle. The bartender was fantastic, and the soup was excellent. But at these prices, I expected a more consistent and elevated experience. Not sure I'll be back.

It didn't even taste like alcohol it tasted like vanilla ice cream I'm so serious. It was delicious. Then I had the siren drink. That one wasn't bad at all. We all had a great time and shared laughs and everything. I love the setting of it though. It's a bit dark so we had to use phone lights to see the menu. But it feels like stepping into a whole new world once you enter. I think it's perfect for hanging out. Date night. Anniversary dinner. All of it. Our server was nice. Very friendly. I think he could use a little more on his hospitality just because sometimes I feel like he didn't know what to say exactly. A little disappointed that there wasn't really anything special for a birthday though. Not even a little card on the table that said happy birthday. Just a thought. Not sure that that really constitutes as a happy hour menu... I asked him why they changed the menu and he put up his hands as if to say he's not to blame and said he doesn't have anything to do with those decisions. He said that "management decided to make a few substitutions but they're pretty good" and didn't provide any further elaboration. I ordered the appetizer lamb lollipops which had four small pieces for $25. My friend decided to try the "happy hour" cheeseburger and he said it was good but it did appear a bit overpriced for an average burger with a pretty hefty serving of french fries. We kicked things off with a complimentary prickly pear vodka cocktail (delicious) paired with a comp app -- looks like they rotate these, and I got hummus with crudite and crackers. During the meal, there were 2 standout dishes that made this memorable. - Hamachi Crudo: THE BEST crudo I have ever had. They switch up the dressing regularly, but whatever they put on mine was unforgettable - 10 oz Wagyu Strip: solid steak, but nothing "Wagyu" tasting. It didn't have that melt-in-your-mouth fatty richness I was hoping for from wagyu and was slightly chewy. - Scallops: tender! - Asparagus: came with a creamy sauce which was a great touch - Chocolate Espresso Mousse Cake: MAGICAL. Layered, with crunchy pralines and vanilla ice cream. If you've had the chocolate hazelnut cake at Carbone, this gave me major similar vibes... that good! Will absolutely be back to try a different cut of steak and also the loaded baked potato. The ambience alone is worth the trip, but the crudo and that cake are what's going to stick with me.

Some of the standout items for us were the mocktails and the pasta. The Pillows of Love pasta absolutely lived up to the hype and was one of the highlights of the meal. We also enjoyed the mac and cheese, mushrooms, steak, and seafood. Everything was beautifully prepared, high quality, and worthy of the restaurant's reputation. If I had one minor critique, it would be the king crab legs. They are char-grilled, which gives them a smoky flavor that wasn't quite our personal preference. That said, the quality of the crab itself was excellent, and it's more a matter of taste than a criticism of the preparation. The atmosphere made for a perfect birthday dinner--upscale, energetic, and memorable without feeling stuffy. Combined with outstanding food and attentive service, it made for a special evening that my wife and I won't forget. The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Once we got to the restaurant we could tell why it was so hard, they have less than 10 tables inside, and it's a very small space. We're extremely hyped though because of all the good things we've heard. We ordered two appetizers, bone marrow Elote, and the scallop Crudo. The bone marrow was supposed to be a side for the Elote, which honestly confused me because it came out as bone marrow sprinkled with corn on top, made me confused as to what would've came out if we ordered elote without the bone marrow. The scallop Crudo was so good, served with some kind of tortilla chip, I've had this at lom wongs and I prefer the one here, sauce was sweet and sour, and avocados were perfectly ripe. For our entrée, the four of us shared the 40 ounce ribeye, this was $280 and takes 45 minutes to cook, so it was quite the commitment. The platter comes with tortillas, quesadillas, grilled onions, beans, and more. We are all definitely stuffed by the time we finished it. Meat was cooked perfectly medium rare, and tasted so good with all the fixings of the platter. We also got a birthday dessert on the house which was really nice. It was some kind of pinwheel cake with marshmallow foam on top, it was just OK to me but I'm not a huge dessert person. Our waitress was super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The spot is small and chic. It's very intimate dining so you'll be sitting close to the table next to you. Luckily, it's a quiet and calm space, so no need to worry about noise. The food was incredible. The salmon crudo was possibly the best crudo I have ever had in my entire life. So fresh and the flavors were balanced to perfection. The risotto changed my life... it was so delicious I couldn't even believe it. The only thing I would recommend skipping was the octopus tostada - not my favorite and a little fishy for my liking. Personal preference of course! The duck tasted great and was beautifully presented, but it wasn't my favorite. Again, I'm not a huge meat eater so take my advice on this one with a grain of salt. Overall an extremely romantic and special meal.

It was pretty good but certainly not worth the titular pretty penny price--and we didn't even get…read morethe recommended 8 dishes, which is, like, the entire menu. To start, the menu is a bit puzzling. It's kind of like a handful of Asian-inspired dishes, a handful of Mexican/South American, and a handful of French or New American. But there's not enough of each to chart a course through one type of cuisine. So, basically you're gonna have a cultural melange meal. Hamachi crudo was really good and fairly unique. The halibut was excellently prepared but not particularly innovative in any way I could tell. Zucchini had goat cheese, which wasn't immediately clear from the description, so I didn't enjoy the rude surprise I got when I took my first bite, and didn't eat anymore, as I really despise the stuff. So that was a waste. Not a dig on the dish, just a personal thing I wish I had more notice of. There were other issues though. The wine list was exceptionally small, They were out of the bread, which is supposedly a must-try. And then we were going to get the steak but the folks next to us advised against it, showing their cut that had zero fat. They said it was leather. On that point, the tables are SUPER CLOSE. Like, a couple inches apart. You hear everything and almost can't avoid getting entwined into others' conversation. We liked the people we were next to, but be aware that it's an unintentionally awkward communal experience that's not well-suited to a date night. The service was pretty good, they put out a nice printed greeting with the reservation name, and give you a sparkling wine toast. But considering the price and overall experience we had, I'd pass and not come back.
