Companion and I arrived at 5:45 and were seated promptly. Our server Nikki brought menus and took our drink orders. We started off with Calamari. It was perfectly cooked and came with 2 sauces that I have never had served with it before. One was MaPloi, and the other was an aioli that was nicely spicey. The portion was large and unfortunately, we couldn't finish it. Companion ordered Fish & Chips. A nice sized portion of cod, perfectly fried. Unfortunately, the chips were not fried the way companion asked for them and most of them were left on the plate. For myself, I ordered the Scallop & Shrimp Combo which came with nicely prepared brussel sprouts which were grilled and then had balsamic vinegar over them. I also ordered the char broiled zucchini, which I did not care for and left most of it on my plate. On to desserts! Desserts are prepared in house and not from the outside. Companion ordered Bread Pudding. Sliced from a loaf and served with a Jack Daniels Whiskey sauce and a ball of vanilla ice cream. Companion was so full that it was not finished but not before declaring it to be delicious. I ordered the Butter Cake. A delicious cupcake sized portion tasting deeply of butter, served with whipped cream, berries, and topped with vanilla ice cream. Once again, the portion was so big that I could only eat half of it. I decided to sit at the bar for a quick happy hour and the bartender was very friendly and prompt. I ordered a coffee to go along with my butter cake and it was honestly the perfect pairing. I was in town visiting a buddy and his family, and they suggested we head to King Fish House. Great call on their part. The moment we walked in, I loved the interior--like an old fisherman who finally retired and decided to decorate the place with all his best stories. It's got charm, character, and a really inviting vibe. Our waiter, Steven, was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and easy to talk to. We ordered drinks for the table, and while they took a little longer than expected to arrive, it was clear that the delay wasn't on Steven--he kept checking in and handled everything professionally. We started with a dozen oysters. They didn't have any from Washington State, but the selection they did have was still fantastic--fresh, briny, and full of flavor. For my meal, I went with the Miso Sea Bass, and honestly, it couldn't have been better. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and one of those dishes that makes you wish it were socially acceptable to lick your plate clean. Absolutely outstanding. We had an outstanding Mother's Day lunch at King's Fish House with our whole family. The service was exceptional--particularly thanks to our server, Alexa Hernandez. She took the time to check the sources of the sea bass and came back with two options--even recommending the best place to get it fresh. I had the Sand Dabs for lunch with a side of brussel sprouts. The waitress said the fish was lightly battered. It was served HEAVILY BATTERED and dripping with oil. The brussel sprouts were NOT FRESHLY COOKED. To add insult to injury, I was charged an upcharge of $3.50 for them. There were maybe 8 brussel sprouts on the plate. Very disappointing experience. The food was overpriced and had little to no flavor--I literally had to season it myself just to make it edible. We also ordered a fish plate, and it was not good at all and didn't seem cooked right, which made it even worse. When I asked for hot sauce, instead of the staff member just grabbing it, she told our waiter, which made it take even longer. The service felt awkward and unhelpful. When the waiter asked how everything was, we said it was "okay," and instead of addressing it, she later sent someone else over to ask us the same thing again, which didn't solve anything and just made things uncomfortable. I'm going to speak for the table since our guests aren't on yelp. My friends asked for a piece of fish, it was okay according to them. It was a smaller dish based on the price. And the veggies were unfortunately over done. My dish, pictured, was fantastic! I got tacos and chips and I was lucky because my plate was full, filling and delicious. So it seems that if you eat here you'll want to ask about the plate sizes. I really liked the grilled limes and lemons. I squeezed them over my fish and it was warm and scrumptious. We were in town visiting friends and this was one of the places they took us for dinner. Since this was their home turf, we were in their hands. It is located in what I think is a mall, so there is plenty of parking. The space itself is huge, although there were not a lot of people there as we decided on having an early meal. The hostess was nice and our server was pleasant. Once we were seated, don't ask why, but the vibe I got was that we were at a seafood restaurant that gave off a Red Lobster or Chili's vibes....maybe it was the booth seating, not sure. I was happy to see that they had bubbles on the menu (Mionetto), so I ordered a split of that. For appetizer we started with a dozen oysters. While they were good and I do love oysters, the price blew me away as it was just shy of $40. They were good but not $37.50 good. Looking over the menu and based on the prices, the only thing that tempted me was the "World Class" Tuna Melt (Albacore tuna confit, grilled NY rye, tomato, Tillamook sharp cheddar). This was a good solid sandwich and most likely, if I was in town and happened back here, I would get it again. Prices were on the high side for me, seeing as I have that 'Red Lobster/Chili's" feel about the joint. For example, Filet Mignon & Lobster Tail was $78....you can get this in Chicago cheaper than this and I know places where the quality is not in question. The Farmed Colombian Tilapia and Mississippi Catfish were the cheapest fish options at $25 and they went up in price after that. Just my opinion, but when I go into a seafood restaurant and get a tuna melt, as good as it was, there is something amiss when that is the only viable choice as a dining option. I think that this is a good restaurant to stop at for a quick lunch or light dinner, but can't imagine throwing down price-wise what they are asking for seafood. read more

Visited Kings Fish House in Tempe for lunch on a Thursday. We were seated right away by a pleasant young man who showed us to a very large table in the back near the bar. Right away Devon met us at the table to take our drink order. When ordering the Miso Chilean Sea Bass, he wanted to make sure I knew how it was cooked, and after that he suggested the regular one just in case. We also ordered the two piece fish and chips. We have been here many times, we have always been extremely happy. Except last Friday! As everyone knows I have a service animal. We always feed him when we dine out. There are some people who have no idea what it is like to need this kind of help. The bartender was the server (tall older man, Stephen). We ordered appetizers, drinks, dinner, and desert. When ordering we ordered salmon for my service animal al la carte. We were charged for the whole dinner (we have eaten here before many times), when questioned the server stated they don't have prices for the salmon separate. Honestly, I ended up throwing away my Ciopino dungeoness crab and barely eating it. It wasn't terrible, just wasn't fresh at all, except the bread and the sauce was good. The calamari was okay and the only winner was the bleu cheese wedge salad. Service was very chill and there was only one person serving, so it was hard to leave when we needed. Otherwise, the place is spacious and good looking, with outdoor and indoor dining. First time eating here. Stephan was our waiter and he was both helpful and attentive at the right times. Helped my wife choose an oyster to try for the first time. The shrimp taquitos were simply amazing. Loved the flavor and proportion. My wife chose the swordfish and was not disappointed. The mashed potatoes were very good and asparagus was nice. I had the shrimp and baked potato and spinach. The shrimp was good but after the shrimp taquitos it was a tough follow. The baked potato was good as was the spinach. Very...very disappointed. My wife and I have come here at least 6x a year, and based on this experience, i don't believe we will be coming back. Typically, I order the Miso Seabass. I wanted to try something different this time so I ordered the cioppino. I have had cioppino many times at different restaurants and this was by far the worst. The broth was thicker than it should have been. It appeared as if it was reduced down until it was too thick, or it was at the bottom of the pot. I received 1 (one) clam that was very small, 7 mussel shells with 4 only having mussels in them, 2 prawns, a small piece of fish which was very tough, and the crab was insulting at this point. The crab looked like it had been boiled until the shell became soft. The lump meat area was dark/gray/black, and the meat in the extremely small legs was almost disintegrated. On top of this, I asked for a small side of rice and it was an additional $6.50. I am very displeased...I woke up this still upset about this experience. My wife's meal was okay. She had the grilled shrimp and scallops. The scallops were hard on the outside from being i eat cooked and somewhat chewy in the center. The shrimp was good. She ordered a side of Brussels sprouts which were completely burnt to the point where she couldn't eat it. The bill was $105 after tip and we didn't drink any alcohol (only water), no dessert, or anything additional. I would have been happy with half the price. Again, I don't typically leave such reviews but I am very disappointed with this experience and I'm not sure if I will come again. I will say our waitress Jill was very attentive and helpful, but she was i able to fix our meals. I've had good experiences in the past but this wasn't acceptable by any means. I've been here multiple times and have never had a bad experience. Whether I'm with my family or boyfriend I always get treated kindly and the servers are always very attentive. Hands down one of my favorite dishes is the calamari, it's delicious and the sauce it comes with gives it an added kick. Also the oysters are always very fresh in my experience and are a must order. It's cute inside and out and has a cool harbor/boathouse atmosphere while still being refined. Prices are high and the portions are average. My husband enjoyed his fish entree, but honestly I've had better fish and chips with coleslaw for far less money, $28.50 for two pieces at this establishment. The service was also somewhat slow since it was not that busy at the time we dined. I completely understand about the high costs of food, labor and lease costs involved in running a restaurant. We enjoy dining out to a few favorite places. However, King's Fish House will not be on this list. We cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning. read more

We come here when we're in the mood for an elevated seafood dining experience. The service here is consistently good, even when busy and the ambiance is relaxed. There is a New England coastal feel that takes you away from the Arizona desert. My favorite dish here is the cioppino, a tomato based fisherman's stew but then again, I love soup in general. I've had this stew in New Orleans and this one came in almost as good! Chock full of seafood and a savory broth ! They have an amazing menu with oysters on the half shell (for those willing to take risks with raw seafood like me!) to spiny lobsters (sadly took off king crab recently). I only had two dishes so will share my experience. First easy parking as it is located in a large mall type area of Tempe called The District. It is a nice restaurant, classy ambience. They have live tanks ALWAYS a great sign in a seafood restaurant. The one near me was loaded with dungeons crabs. There were two servers who took care of me as one was in training. Food? 1) Raw oysters half dozen kumamotos***** . OMG! totally awesome! served with everything you need. These oysters were so good. Fresh, large tasty. Worth taking the risk of getting a food borne illness! (my sister said she would not eat raw oysters after the recent norovirus outbreak in Los Angeles). 2) Bowl of King's Spicy Seafood Chowder****. Great tasting red Manhattan style broth. Plenty of fish but would have liked a little more crustacean in the mix. I was going to give it 3 stars, but I gave it 4 stars, because maybe I made the wrong choice on my entree. That being said we went here for my bday! Service was good, and the food was just ok. I got the swordfish, and it was just a little fishy. Which is weird because it's a pretty mild flavored fish. The baked potato and asparagus it came with were good. Oh, and the blacken shrimp taquitos were really good. I wish I liked this place more, because I love seafood and it's so hard to find it out here. Interesting to say the least first the hostess in the front who sits you super energetic and friendly. She sat is and told who our waitress would be.. waitress came right away to get our drinks and bring us bread. When she came back apparently she was not our waitress and someone else took over although she did apologize for the mix up.. the new waitress not to friendly seemed a little irritated she had to serve us that was our impression. She came to take our order and we needed a little more time yah she gave us a lot of time to much. She took the order and specifically asked me if I wanted a loaded baked potato and said no butter only.. when she took our order we had already ate our bread she didn't offer to bring more.. so while we waited for our food unfortunately we had already ate our bread as you can see on the pic it was not that big we had 2 slices each.. but it was really good. She brought out food with a loaded backed potato I can't stand sour cream . And it is dark so you really can't tell if it butter or sour cream both in little circles so I mixed it up and it was gross I ate the part the had the least because I was hungry. The fish was good but not what I expected so I left half of my plate by the time she came back to bring us the check we had to track her down for something else so I was not about to send my food back.. she didn't even ask after seen half of my plate uneaten if everything was on or if I wanted to take it home.. so one plate was eaten and the other left.. no I will not be coming back I wanted to post her name but I hope she was just having a bad day.... read more

I had high expectations coming in, as I heard from a few friends that this place was good. However, the server seemed upset that our table had not ordered alcoholic beverages and treated us poorly after we placed our drink orders. We started with the oyster sampler, which was nice. The server recommended a couple of things on the menu--of course, they were the most expensive items. When we chose not to order them, he again seemed upset with us.
