Pescada is a newer seafood restaurant in North Scottsdale that gives off a Mediterranean seafood vibe and has a beautiful restaurant perfect for dining with friends, family or the special someone. I would love to go for happy hour and apps, the environment is very lively with outdoor seating when the weather is nice! We started with the Trio of Dips, the whipped ricotta was delicious and the sourdough loaf was amazing and still warm. Great way to start your meal! The Portuguese Stew was our favorite dish, the white fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce paired perfect with the vegetables and fish. I ate it together with the rice, Calabrian chili, and herbs that came with it. Great spot in DC Ranch. Nice seating areas both inside and out; patios have plenty of heaters. The bar and lounge area had a good vibe. Service was nice and the food was delicious. Lobster Bisque was great ...cognac (cream) was listed in the ingredients, which always makes a better bisque. The vegetables in the Charred Vegetable Plate were so tasty and the broccolini was amazing. The Chilean Sea Bass was good, as was the cauliflower-potato mash. The Beef Tenderloin Skewers were just okay; the presentation was a bit stark and the beef a bit grisly (almost impossible for tenderloin). I came here with my boyfriend to celebrate finishing my first year of dental school. We had an absolute AMAZING experience. We were seated outside right before sunset. The curtains were closed but right before sunset they came out and opened the curtains for us to see the amazing view. Our server was such a sweetheart and helpful with directing us to food and wine. The Portuguese stew was so delicious! The flavors were amazing together and it was nice to add cilantro and spice to it on our own. The rice was very tasty with it too. The swordfish skewer was cooked to PERFECTION! I was soooo amazed at how delicious the food was here! The sauce with it made it very flavorful! I was a bit hesitant with the lobster mashed potatoes but oh my it's a must have!! We also started off with steamed clams and a bottle of wine for their wine night! We finished our meal off with the pear cake and it was perfectly baked! This is hands down the best restaurant I've been to in Arizona! The service, ambiance, and food were all amazing!! We have been there many times between the first time, but this time might be our last time. Zander was our waiter and was fabulous. I love the changes of the remodel. It's absolutely beautiful inside. The food didn't lead up to our expectations. We've been here many times before but when you experience one out of seven things was really good. The rest of it for what they charged, the amount for the money, the taste, the quality was very subpar. Our tab was over 300 before tip! The experience was not worth the money! So sad. Really pretty restaurant, friendly staff, interesting menu. LOVE their huge selection of tinned fish. Your choice served with a few slices of bread, pickled nibbles, butter and two kinds of salt (yum). Order with a glass of cava (on HH) and you have the perfect girl dinner. They serve a few n/a options which is appreciated. We also tried the dip trio. Bread was tasty, and comes with more salty butter, but I wasn't a big fan of the dips- creamy and good for spreading, but not super flavorful. Roasted beets and burrata is big enough for a few to share. Pasta paperonata [sic] is served hot in a pretty bowl. All of the portions are large and good for sharing. Lots of other tasty sounding things on the menu. Nice place if you live in the neighborhood but didn't love it enough to drive all the way there again. read more

We had dinner there August 6th and we brought friends to celebrate to celebrate our anniversary and the food was excellent as always, but the service was very very off and embarrassing because of my friends. I know there must've been something unusual because we've l we patronize all of their places and this was definitely off and we waited 38 minutes for our drink and then they brought soup out without spoon. We love this place! The new bar is beautiful. This has been our go to for HH for the last couple of months. We have also dined in the main dining room (which was excellent), but we prefer the vibe in the bar area. The bartenders are all so friendly and the HH menu is excellent. We love the chicken, lamb & shrimp skewers. We haven't been in on Tuesday yet for their oyster special but we plan to try it soon. We love all of Sheila's restaurants. I really do enjoy Pescada so much. My true rating is a 4.5 so I rounded up to 5. There's aspects of it that are well beyond a 5 but it's not perfect. I really enjoy myself every time we come here. Sitting on the patio is nice and quiet. The vibe is chill and relaxing. I'm fond of the menu. There's always a variety of things to try and I like that because I get so tired of the usual Scottsdale steak and potato scene. The service is always quite good and I personally enjoy the nice touches like the Mediterranean vibes on the table settings and atmosphere. Cocktails were probably the best part of the experience. The Bar never disappoints. I tried both the Rose cocktail and the Sicilian one (base was a fig vodka with blood orange ginger beer). Both were nice but Sicialian was definitely better. I was expecting more of a rose flavor from the Rose drink but it was heavy on lemon. My husband enjoyed Golden hour cocktail. For dinner, we started with oysters. I believe their oyster selection and service is the best in the area (and better than the places that have Oyster in their name). However We ordered the Thai chili mignonette as an extra accoutrement. It arrived frozen (not ok) and was not spicy at all. Total disappointment bc it sounds good on the menu. We also were upcharged for the tablespoon of horseradish which was a little disappointing. I assumed it would come with the 8 oysters we ordered and not something we even care that much to have. But the oysters themselves were divine and the regular mignonette was quite good. For another starter, we ordered frito Misto which was a calamari appetizer with cauliflower and other items. The server told us in advance that it was heavily fried (I asked when we were ordering) and she was right. It was way too breaded and fried for me (and in my opinion for a restaurant of this type) but my husband liked it. I normally order a salad as a starter and I wish I just did that because I generally enjoy their salads. And eating heavy bar-type food before dinner is not my thing. For dinner I had the branzino which was very good. My husband enjoyed his swordfish (breaded). We were too stuffed for dessert and nothing was wowing us on the dessert menu. Overall a nice evening, made most pleasant by the cocktails and oysters. Next time I would like to try a more tapas style dinner. Had a dinner reservation here last weekend, and I was so excited to try it out! Started off not the best. We were seated at a table in the corner directly by the kitchen entrance, where service staff is constantly walking in and out. They did accommodate and move us to a different table. Once seated at our new table, it took our server quite a while to greet us. But once she did, her service was friendly & attentive. We ordered a lot of drinks and food, highlights were definitely the Odyssey and carajillo cocktails, the swordfish, paella, and lamb skewers. The lamb especially.. it was so good, I'm still thinking about it. My boyfriend's short rib pasta was a little disappointing, so I'd stick to their seafood entrees (and the lamb of course). This place is definitely pricey, but the quality of the food made it worthwhile. I will say, table maintenance could be improved. We sat with a table full of dirty plates, from our appetizers, for about 20-30mins. When we asked the server to take them, she said a busser would come by. I'm in the industry so I'm being a bit picky, but I don't see why she couldn't do it herself when we saw other servers prebussing their tables. First time visitor over the weekend and I can say I was pretty pleased. First off, the decor and entire ambiance is incredible. The look and feel of the place carried me outside of Arizona; I could definitely imagine myself in the Mediterranean! I made a reservation but decided to go early. As it was restaurant week, I wasn't able to be seated anywhere but the bar so I decided to try out what they tell me was a new expansion (the bar tot the right). We both ordered off the restaurant week menu. It was pretty delicious but I was very shocked that none of the servers/waitstaff had even tried out the menu. I asked for recommendations and they mentioned they hadn't tried anything themselves. I would think the owners/management would want their staff tasting everything so they could provide non biased recommendations. Sheila (owner of Pescada, Vic & Ola's. Alma, etc) has done a great job with the recently remodeled Pescada that is lovely, golden and warm. Felt really comfy after a warm greeting at the door. Good service from our waiter, Kayla. But we go out to eat and drink, and at Pescada we got excellent Coastal Mediterranean food for a reasonable price. Our starters included the olives and a lovely Tri-color salad with arugula, endive, and radicchio tossed in a light vinaigrette. For dinner the artichoke risotto was excellent as a side to our linguine puttanesca and the Chilean Sea Bass on cauliflower mashed and brocollini...the cauliflower mashed was delicious as was the Sea Bass., linguine and risotto. One last thing: Our cocktails were really good, and the price for the entire meal was reasonable {under 200.) Way to go Sheila...we will come back and try out your new Oyster Bar next door! read more

We actually came here on two consecutive nights. The first was Thursday and we sat at the bar on the patio and were served by the super friendly bartender Jordan, then Friday night with friends. The cocktails that are on the happy hour menu are not very good. They are gin-based drinks using tonic waters that are so aromatic and floral that you can't finish one. Luckily Jordan saved the day and made me a much more well-balanced and less floral tasting drink. We enjoyed the different take on bacon wrapped dates these were almond and Cambozola cheese stuffed sitting on orange marmalade. The mini grilled cheese were not browned they just seemed like hard pieces of a narrow baguette with more cheese in them. They were tasty although too greasy. The "salmon" deviled eggs really didn't taste like salmon, yet they were light and still flavorful. There were some large salmon roe eggs on the top and maybe that's what they meant by salmon. The house made squid ink pasta with shrimp was very flavorful although overpriced for just a few shrimp in a small bowl. The octopus was seriously underwhelming. One single grilled tentacle on a bitter, unbalanced green sauce with 3 tablespoons of a diced potato, onion and olive mixture. It didn't eat well together and we don't recommend it. The crabcake with shaved fennel was good however we've had crabcakes with less of a homogenous texture. It seemed like the crab had been really over mixed and it didn't look like lump crab. The flavor was good although the shaved fennel was a little boring not having been dressed with anything. The summer cappeletti with mini pattypan squash and sautéed mushrooms was light with good flavor. The halibut was watery, somewhat mushy and lacking flavor and was not up to par for a restaurant that has fish in its name! The steak tartare was not a good choice. My bad for ordering that! The egg yolk was too large for the amount of meat and the texture of the beef was disappointing - there was some connective tissue and really chewy pieces. It needed cornichons and more flavor in the meat itself. The crunchy pieces of bread served with it were very tasty. The ciabatta was too oily however the salt on the top was tasty, and the whipped crab was a light change of pace to butter. The hazelnut gelato was perfect in flavor and texture - not too soft. The chocolate mousse, was sinfully smooth and light. To match the price and upscale ambiance the savory food needs to be better. Based on only getting two of the sweet dishes the dessert offerings seem solid... Will we return? Not sure based on hearing that they are closing for four months to redo the interior space and make it much larger. Hopefully they keep the same ambiance and the savory food gets better. read more

As appetizer we had the seafood medley with shrimp, calamari , zucchini and broccoli. Not quite a fan of the heavy tempura batter. I thought it was a bit excessive . The dipping sauce however was finger looking good. Their Greek salad was quite nice with a unique presentation. We had the halibut and the sea bass and both were delicious. My husband found this spot randomly when we were discussing where we would love to have our first anniversary dinner. We checked the menu and saw a lot we would love to eat and also saw that they had their happy hour even on Saturday until 6pm and they had their Frito misto along with drinks on there! With the pricing a little on the higher side, we thought even enjoying one hour of happy hour would be good. I did only give this 4 stars because their website did not advise that happy hour would only be on the patio and at the bar. Also when we were ordering, I was telling our server that the happy hour pricing was great so we ordered a couple drinks and the Frito misto. At the end of our dinner, we were told that happy hour pricing was only at the bar and the patio. We still enjoyed the food so that was not such a bad thing but it did make me cringe a bit since she knew I was looking at the happy hour menu and she could have mentioned at that point that the happy hour was not for the inside portion of the restaurant. Outside of that, the food was incredible. Probably the best spaghetti and clams I've had! The anniversary card was also a good touch for a coupling for next time. The ambiance was pretty comfortable and cozy. The decor was nice and we did get a huge booth. I would like the patio next time for happy hour and great weather. read more

I have to be honest.. this is one of my favorites in N Scottsdale and we looked so forward to seeing and experiencing Pescada after its extensive renovation and opening. My husband & I had a reservation for Valentine's Day night .. something of a 'anniversary' for us .. as it was a first date for us. I was looking forward to getting out finally as I have been recovering from a severe accident I sustained in early January and this would be one of my first real nights , ( and tests!) out. We arrived for our reservation and waited about 20 minutes past our reservation time - my husband finally asked if we were okay & even said that we were fine for any open table. We were sat near the door, which we agreed to. We started with one waiter who took our drink order- than another came about 10 min later & he apologized- retaking the order. We ordered the Salmon Dip-Roe & Chips & also the Bacon Wrapped Dates to start along with a Cava and cocktail. I was not impressed with either of the starters- both were entirely too salty. The caviar came with no caviar spoon or way to serve it or the dip and I asked for it -- the server said he had not seen that spoon with this. But there was no way to serve either of the apps ? Do we use our fingers?? Or the chips ? FWIW, caviar or 'roe' is to be served with a caviar mother of pearl spoon or it ruins the taste of the caviar if served with metal. My husband's cocktail was odd - a fig - mezcal creation which just fell flat on the palate. My entree was the Blue Crab Lemon Pasta and my husband had the Stuffed Sole -- a special for the night. My entree was served hot in a Staub on a saucer (?? ) -- I had no utensils for several minutes while waiting for our waiter to return or anyone for that matter -- and my husbands sole was warm to the touch and super bland -- my entree again - over salted. We had ordered a bottle of Fleurie for dinner which our server tried to serve while we still were having our cocktails & I declined the bottle and now we had our dinner ( albeit me no utensils) and no wine and empty water glasses. The wine finally came and I didn't love it as it appeared to be oxidized and the waiter should have caught it. I thought I would let it sit for a moment after tasting it and if he returned I would say something. That said when he did return which was one time at the end of our meal -- my husband leaving most of his fish and my saying I didn't like the wine .. he took it away. We did love the Chocolate Caviar- a unique chocolate budino dessert served with crisp cookies. I felt Pescada was over booked and the service showed. The ambience was loud .. SO loud with the music which I don't remember before and we didn't care for this time. We want to hear each other speak not the sound of club music grinding in our ear which is not why we go to dinner. We love Pescada because it has such a Spain meets Portugal vibe so I truly hope this was a over busy night with just a silly bunch of mis-steps on service because we were super disappointed in so many ways. As someone who is gluten free because of celiac disease, finding restaurants that have extensive options and knowledgeable staff (our waitress Paige) is the best feeling. My boyfriend and I stopped by on a whim for the raw bar and a drink but ended up having a lot of fun just trying different things. Everything we tried was delicious and fresh. The flavors all complemented each other well and the occasional hint of spice was a nice touch on the chicken skewers. As someone who has worked in fine dining/upscale resorts, Sheila and her staff have an insane eye for detail and presentation. The entire restaurant is immaculate and you can tell she hand picked everything including the backsplash tiling of the bar. Pescada is comfortably classy with certified flavor adventures on all the dishes we tried. Lovely decor in the outdoor pavilion style area that connects through the central bar to the main restaurant. I got the scallops which were divine. In my photo you can see four huge scallops resting upon a bed of butternut squash puree, foraged mushrooms and pomegranate arils. The kale is great too. Texturally this was a really thoughtful dish. Others at my table enjoyed the swordfish Milanese with a zesty aioli that had a bit of kick, again dynamic! The Chilean sea bass was tasty too. I have to recommend my scallops above all. The bacon wrapped dates, sourdough boule, and fritto misto also made for great apps. The burrata with golden beets was a crowd pleaser. Great contrast with the earthy beets. We all had either the Seabass or the seafood pasta as the entrée and also were very good. For dessert, there was a change from the originally printed menu and I had the wonderful lemon sorbet/vodka/prosecco drink... so good! I did note that except for the Seabass most of these items are not on the regular menu. We came to Pescada for happy hour and were blown away. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely outstanding--Chris did an amazing job and made the experience even better. Every dish we tried was excellent: the oysters were fresh and briny, the calamari perfectly cooked, and both the lobster bisque and Moroccan carrot soup were rich and full of flavor. We topped it all off with the seafood paella, which was absolutely phenomenal. The cocktails were just as impressive as the food.
