Our service was terrible. Food was okay. Drinks were great but had to flag down and beg for more. The singer was fun! We were there for 3 hours and only had two drinks but could have had more. It seemed like they had enough staff but it was busy and I don't think they are used to that. Was sad to see them lose the revenue and to have to repeatedly ask. After our drink order as placed it took 20 mins to get our drinks both times for a table of 4. The hostess was friendly and sweet but maybe she could help take orders when busy. My husband and I decided to go on a Thursday evening around 6:30pm (this was early March) The place was absolutely dead. There was 1 person at the bar and literally 2 tables sat, not a good sign. I made a reservation for six people initially - But updated it to eight and got a confirmation and indicated we were there primarily for drinks with a couple of appetizers. Upon arrival the restaurant was empty, the host just told us we could have the patio because it wasn't reserved and there was no one on it. I actually thought the place was adorable, I've never been there before. To my dismay the owner pulled me aside in front of my group and chastised me for promoting his restaurant on Instagram for Like love and our happy hour. Like who does that? We do events every other week and restaurants are thrilled that we promote them on social media because our followers will go there and experience it. He was super rude and confrontational. He told me his staff was stressed yet his entire restaurant was empty and we were the only ones there. We were a party of eight having drinks. Brandon, the bartender was such a treat to talk to. His recommendations were on point, from the wine to the food. I wish I had a server/bartender like him everywhere I dined. If you have dined in the N. Scottsdale area lately, yo understand how bad service is these days. Pathetic is too kind of a word for it. So Brandon was a breath of fresh air. I am a self proclaimed France obsessive. Having lived in Paris for a couple of years where I truly feel I came of age I have yet to find a true feel of 'French' in restaurants that have 'French food' in the valley. Whereas many try and get some of it correct, I haven't thought some are worthy of what the menu prices out as. Enter Pinard Wine Bar. My husband had a business dinner here the week of the WMPO and I was in charge of finding a 'cool place' for him to network. I thought there was a chance I may join him, so I picked Pinard Wine Bar. Near our home, near the event, but not too near! This place is so classy and so French! The vibe was all things fun. The menu is amazing and it does spin into Spain and Italy a bit too, having a 'Pincho' on the app menu that is a small 'tapas' if you have traveled to Spain you know these are bites perfect for apperitif! The wine list is super impressive and there is Members Only area off to the side, which we were intrigued by but didn't know what that was until we got home and looked it up on the Pinard site. It appears to be a wine club. Our server was SO amazing! She did not miss a beat and her explanations of the entrees on the menu and the specials were impeccable. She had my allergens noted, as well. There is a sommelier on board and it was fun to discuss 'somm' wine stuff with her- what her level was and where we both got our viticulture education from. That said, I don't need to announce that the wine list is curated amazingly well and there are special wines of the moment on the chalkboard. We ordered an Artichoke app and these again reminded me of a recent trip to S. Spain , OMG, SO good! The wine we ordered was a Williamette Pinot Noir because it's lighter on the palate and can go with an array of entrees. So tasty! The Foie Gras was also good! Finding a great Foie Gras here has been a challenge. This will go down as a second fave! I loved the mix of savory and sweet with the chutney and bread. Three of us at the table had the filet. I will say that it took quite a while to get our entrees, however the server did let us know apologetically that due to the private members dinner, the kitchen was a little behind and we appreciated that. The steaks, all ordered medium rare, were all cooked differently. NONE of us had the heart to say anything mine was well, no red. Another was Medium to almost well, just a smidge of pink and one was medium, but none were medium rare as ordered. The taste was still very good and we did trade the steaks to get it sort of right! My husband had a Veal Chop and it was cooked to order and very very good! The potatoes were on point as well the au poivre sauce! We did share desserts we did not love the Tiramisu but again, it may be a personal taste. We did love the Lemon Panna Cotta ( and I know I am not getting that correct!) with strawberries on top! I would love to see a French baguette and French butter served, because WHO doesn't LOVE that French butter!!! The service here was amazing and I can't say enough about the ambience and decor and the management touching the tables through the night and yes, it's on me to not have addressed the steak. I love seeing a new place like this and I want this place and this to succeed with this menu! It's great when I spend 15 minutes trying to decide what to eat and whether to load up on apps and salad or go all in on a great entree! Here I could do all of the above! I can seriously not wait to go back and maybe someday there will be a French strummer for some music too!! "Pinard" was referred to as 'cheap red wine' in slang sense in WWI by French soldiers. I recently went to a neighbor's party here. The side room for the party had a cozy feel to it. The servers were polite and did a great job with taking care of our large group. The wine was delicious and there was a great selection. The appetizers that were included for our party were decent but nothing that would make me want to return. I did check out their menu and wasn't really impressed. I can get a filet or a cheeseboard at a lot of places but it seemed overpriced. Overall I would say the ambiance and service were great but I wouldn't return unless friends want to get a glass of wine there. read more

I don't drink so... but I used to and the cocktail and wine offerings are. We started with the Artichoke Hearts and Duck Pate'. Both were very well executed and delicious! For dinner we had the Flat Iron Steak, Braised Iberico Pork and Sea Bass Vera Cruz. All dish's were fantastic the steak in particular was top quality and perfectly cooked. First visit. A Friday night. 9pm. Party of 4 looking for a light bight and a good glass of wine. Upon entering this establishment, we were met with an off-putting odor, something resembling sewer gas. It wasn't overpowering, but present. We decided to ignore it and enter anyway. The place was completely empty. Bad sign? The menu looked decent, especially the wine list. We ordered a cheese board, a meat board, and a somewhat pricey bottle of wine. I was disappointed with both boards. The server didn't give us the usual rundown, I expect, of what each of the offerings were. The presentation was OK, but I thought the offerings were meager. The wine was wonderful. Worth the $$. The server seemed inexperienced for this level of wine bar. For the last pour of our red, he completely upturned the bottle, dumping whatever sediment from the bottle into my guest's glass. Overall, I was disappointed/under impressed. We are visiting from California and read the reviews for Pinard. The staff was very friendly. We ordered a bottle of wine, waited 20 mins, they didn't have it. The food was disappointing. We wanted the empanadas but they had run out, there was a small group in the side room and then only two other tables occupied in the whole restaurant, but they were all out. The salad was not adequately cleaned, the soup was mediocre, and I disliked the mushrooms. Recently had dinner at Picard and had a really nice experience. Sean was our waiter-I would ask to be sat in his section every time if I could. As a starter, the prime filet skewers were cooked and seasoned to perfection. I added a Caesar salad and it might have been one of the best I have ever had-and I consider myself picky. My husband ordered the braised pork and I had the flat iron steak. Both were really good! The asparagus on the side was sublime. The stand out desert was the chocolate mousse. A tiny teacup full is plenty believe me. The owner made an appearance to our table for a short conversation about our experience which was a really nice capstone. I rarely write reviews, but had such a nice experience at this place it deserved a review. We originally planned on dining at Local Bistro (across the parking lot), but there was a wait to get a table and it was loud and crowded. We were looking for something more intimate. We decided to check out this new place, which just opened last month. We were hesitant at first because it was surprisingly empty, but we were greeted by a cheerful hostess. We sat down on a cozy sofa to check out the menu and decided to stay for dinner. A few things really stood out about this place... The seating was comfortable and intimate. Many of the tables have sofas, which is typical of wine bars. There is a lot of space between tables, so it is great for a romantic date or dinner with close family and friends. The staff was friendly and attentive. They all seemed genuinely happy to be there. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the wines and made excellent pairing suggestions. I ordered the Salade Nicoise, which I enjoyed with a glass of Albarino wine. It was carefully prepared with fresh ingredients. At the end of the meal we were offered a free glass of Limoncello, which was made in house. We had a pleasant dining experience and hope that others will give this place a try. When I heard she was at Pinard I had to give it a try and was so impressed! We chose to share several of the Small Plates to sample with our wine. I highly recommend you do this because the selections are crazy good! The baked Camembert, Pinchard skewers, artichokes, ham croquettes - yum!!! The selection of wines by the glass is my favorite since you can get 3, 6, or 9 oz glasses allowing you to try several that may be new to you. The Sancerre was my favorite. With an upscale yet welcoming vibe, great location for access and parking, and excellent food and service - Pinard Wine Bar will be my new regular spot to meet a friend for a perfect evening. read more
