Party of 1 on the patio at Sophia's Kitchen and it was such a pleasant little escape for dinner. I ordered the shaved Brussels sprout salad (small portion) with Dijon dressing on the side and no goat cheese -- super fresh and flavorful, and the smaller size was perfect for a solo meal. I also had the prosciutto and fig pizza (and I promise there's actually a pie under that mountain of arugula ). Sweet, savory, and totally satisfying. The iced tea was a lovely brew -- and I'm picky about my tea! Service from Christina was good. Only downside: the women's bathroom was messy during my visit. Hoping that was just a one-off. Overall, a really enjoyable patio dinner. I'd definitely visit again.

As a big fan of Stone and Vine (for east valley people) I was excited to see Sophia's kitchen on my GF near you list. The menu is very similar but there's a few elevations added to Sophia's that in my opinion make her shine just a little brighter than her sister location in the east valley. For me, I ordered the short rib. It is served with risotto. I can order gf pasta just about anywhere, but risotto is a lavish treat. The mushroom sauce was probably my favorite part of the dish. I could taste the cremini mushrooms. The pieces of carrots. The herbs. All on top of rich and decadent risotto. The second I noticed was fresh Parmesan at table side. My 1st bite of my meal I thought I wanted salt, but my second included the fresh cheese. It added just enough salt to add the balance I wanted. Honestly, it's one of the best things I've eaten! And I'm very impressed at the added attention to detail. I do like to touch on, in true "real ingredients cost money" fashion this is not an inexpensive dish. However, I ate about 1/3 during my meal. I am much happier to pay $$ for real ingredients and as a bonus I get 3 meals from my order.

My friend and I had dinner here on a Friday night. Place was crowded, but service was great! We had a table for two outside, waiter Brian was kind and attentive. We had pizza, garlic knots and wine. All were wonderful! Outside looking at the view of McDowell mountains is spectacular. Small bar inside with a few TVs and plenty of seating. The Italian pasta and dishes looked amazing and patrons happy and enjoying their time. Can't wait to go back and try other entrees!

We have been here numerous times over the last three years. This time we ordered some different items. The beet salad was absolutely delicious and the kale salad is always good. We did not know they had a half portion size of the salad and we split that and it was still large enough for two along with a big entrée fire each. One of us ordered the squid ink pasta with shrimp and they loved it. The pasta was not too fishy tasting. Another one ordered the shrimp scampi and said it was delicious. My better half ordered the chicken parmigiana that comes with spaghetti, but the spaghetti was really more than al dente and really dry. It would be better if they served that with linguine or something with a creamy sauce That really brought down the whole dish even though the chicken itself was great. For the first time I ordered the eggplant lasagna and was amazed at how tender and flavorful it was. The eggplant slices were very thinly sliced and must've been pan fried before assembly. It had just the right amount of marinara and cheese and was a very satisfying dish even without noodles. Service was very professional by our pleasant server. My only complaint is that our table was very close to the door that goes out to the patio and it was opened a lot and made it quite cool right at our table. If there was a way to add a wall or some sort of method to divert the airflow so the cold air wouldn't be coming in so much that would be great.

We have been wanting to try Sophia's Kitchen for quite some time and were delighted to finally have the opportunity last week. Inspired by Sophia Loren, the restaurant immediately impresses with its incredible atmosphere--gorgeous aesthetic, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed. The music was at the perfect level, creating an inviting environment that works beautifully for both date night and families. We visited on a Monday evening after a soccer game--hungry, cold, frizzy-haired, and casually dressed--yet from the moment we arrived, we were treated exceptionally well by both the hosts and servers. We were seated in a cozy booth by the window with a partial view of both the front and side patio, which added to the overall charm of the experience. Our server was outstanding--knowledgeable about the menu, proactive with suggestions, and incredibly attentive. She anticipated our needs before we ever had to ask, from extra napkins to timely water refills. These simple yet essential details of service are often overlooked in many restaurants today, but not here. Because of her attentiveness and professionalism, we were able to truly relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the garlic knots, Zuppa di clams with fresh bread, and the fritto misto--each dish was fantastic. Frito Misto- not overly fried. Calamari, cod , asparagus and shrimp. Great portion. You can actually taste the fish & veg. Perfect!!! We are already looking forward to returning to try the salads, especially the Brussels sprout and beet salads. For entrées, my oldest ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was freshly grilled, and the Caesar was dressed perfectly, with a beautiful balance of garlic, lemon, and spices. My youngest chose the Padrino pizza (no sausage). The crust was absolute perfection, and he enjoyed it so much that he happily ate the leftovers for the next two days. Choosing my own entrée was the hardest decision, with tempting options like the carbonara, special cannelloni, short rib, and lazy lasagna. On our server's recommendation, I chose the lazy lasagna--and it did not disappoint. The pappardelle, creamy Bolognese, ricotta, and herbed breadcrumbs came together in a hearty, deeply flavorful dish that was both comforting and satisfying. Although we didn't have room for dessert, it is high on our list for next time. I am already planning my return for the short rib, cacio de pepe, and the petrale sole. Another detail that stood out was that our server thoughtfully packed and bagged our leftovers for us--an increasingly rare touch that speaks to proper training and genuine hospitality. This visit was especially meaningful, as my mother has been ill and recently lost my father. As soon as she is feeling better, we look forward to bringing her here. Sophia's Kitchen is a place that clearly values not only excellent food, but exceptional service and care for its guests. We cannot wait to return and look forward to it!!!!

Beautiful Italian Restaurant with a stunning mountain view. When walking up to the restaurant it looked like it was going to be a small restaurant, it is not! My party had a total of 3 people, but this is also the perfect venue size for birthdays, celebrations, work events, etc... There is an extremely large outdoor seating area as well. While the restaurant is large, it does feel homey and comfortable. The staff are amazing and attentive from the moment you walk through the door! I have never seen such great customer service before. We went a little after lunch hour, so the restaurant was pretty quiet. The menu has a lot of exciting options, that allows for pretty much anyone to find something to eat. We ordered an appetizer, the Fritto Misto. It came with Calamari, shrimp, cod, zuchinni, and asparagus. A fun mix, that I have not seen with any appetizer before. The Fritto Misto also came with a Calabrian Aioli, it was delicious and had a very nice light kick. For my entree I got a Wood-Fired Pizza, the Wild Mushroom and I additionally added prosciutto. The pizza was light and flavorful, and the topping ratio was extremely well balanced. The pizza crust was ridiculously delicious, there is no doubt that it is made fresh in restaurant. I could snack on just the crust all day (and I normally dislike pizza crust). I was able to get through about half of the pizza and took the rest home, I can definitely see this being shared by two people. I would highly recommend getting one of their wood-fired pizzas. The other members of my party got pasta, there pasta dishes were flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Definitely check out Sophia's Kitchen!!!

Whatever Sophia and her staff are doing in that kitchen, needs to be studied! The best homemade pasta, fresh flavors, and excellent service. Fantastic local restaurant. I was blown away by the amazing service and flavors in each dish. Highly recommend the Bruschetta board during happy hour, it is $13 for 3 different ones. I also recommend their Rigatoni alla Vodka - homemade pasta, chicken, and tomato! Great selection of wines as well.

Service was very good. Drinks were well made and flavorful especially the red sangria. The entrees were excellent especially the cacia de Pepe with shrimp. The desserts were muy bueno especially the chocolate mousse which was very flavorful. Everything was great so we will be back.

I haven't had the Yelp app in years, but I re-downloaded it just to give 5+ stars to Sophia's Kitchen! We tried it one Sunday and have been back three+ times since--it's quickly become one of our favorites. There's ample indoor and outdoor seating, the freshest pasta I've had in years, incredible side dishes, and even coloring pages for the kids, which we really appreciate. We've had the same server every visit (and somehow keep forgetting his name--Alex? Scott? He's buff and bald, sorry! ), but he has been absolutely outstanding. So professional, super chill, and genuinely makes the dining experience better. He even offers to pack up our leftovers, which is a lifesaver with kids. Honestly, he's a big reason we love coming back. Our favorite dishes so far are the gnocchi, rigatoni, and the bruschetta--especially the fig jam one. We love this place: authentic, consistent, and solid. Highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I stopped at Sophia's Kitchen for dinner after running some errands around Scottsdale. This place wasn't on our radar until we hopped on Yelp. Super glad we found them though, the food was excellent! We went on a Friday night around 7:30pm and were seated without a wait. It was fairly busy however. For a larger group you may want to consider making a reservation. For an appetizer we started with the Fritto Misto. It was a decent size, with a good selection of different seafood bites. I would say 2-4 people max could share this. For entrees, I got the Salmon Piccata and my boyfriend got the Shrimp Carbonara. Both dishes were great. The risotto which comes with the piccata is divine. The carbonara was also excellent. The spaghetti had the perfect bite without being too al dente. For dessert we shared the Creme Brûlée. Again, very good. Neither of us had any complaints. Our server was friendly and approachable. I really wish we lived closer to this place, as this is somewhere I could eat at fairly frequently. At least I know where I can find great Italian food the next time I'm in this part of town!

Good service and food. I would recommend they deep clean the chairs but they do have great service.

    Pork ribeye

Sophias is one of our neighborhood spots and we dine there often (2-3 times monthly). Always good, well ran and service is never an issue. Our visit tonight offered a wrinkle that is less of a complaint and more of an observation and "heads up. My wife ordered the Chicken Picatta, as she has done many times prior; tonight she opted to substitute the risotto (delicious) for pasta....they have rigatoni, but our server also indicated there was penne available. News to me. What wasn't clarified is the penne is store bought (they make much of their pasta in-house) and gluten free. Kudos for the gluten free option, but my wife doesn't care for gluten free pasta as a rule. The food runner (manager?) was very sincere in his desire to make her happy, but she opted to keep the dish; her choice, her mistake. Point is, when discussing products, servers should work to communicate all of the basics. My wife did ask the server, post meal, if he was aware the penne was store bought and gluten free; he assured her he was aware. Unfortunately, it wasn't communicated and she certainly wouldn't of ordered that product if informed. I know, first world problems. Still, when you like a place you want it to be really good all of the time. We don't want to lose it to failure or mediocrity. My pork ribeye was very good and the 2022 Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir @ $60 is a great value. Always good bread service and we love the zucchini sticks appetizer. Thanks!
