I normally wouldn't leave a review like this, but after two disappointing experiences back to back, I honestly feel let down. On Valentine's Day, we planned a special dinner at home and attempted to place a to-go order, only to receive inconsistent information and rude communication from staff. I took the time afterward to email management because I genuinely wanted to give them the opportunity to address the situation. I did receive a response saying my concerns would be forwarded to someone else, but after that. nothing. No follow-up, no apology, and no attempt to make things right. Despite that experience, we still decided to give the restaurant another chance and made dinner reservations for last Friday. A few hours before our reservation, we received a call that they had a power outage and needed to cancel. I completely understand that emergencies happen and would never fault a restaurant for losing power. What disappointed me was the lack of care afterward. Nobody followed up to reschedule, apologize further, or even acknowledge the inconvenience. Stopped in one evening for a nightcap with my wife before returning to our nearby hotel. I was immediately impressed with the layout and decor inside. We sat at the bar where we greeted by a smooth talking obviously experienced bartender. We enjoyed chatting with him while sipping on a Manhattan and a Cosmo. We've been told by some relatives that the food here is extraordinary. Hopefully we'll get to experience it soon although merely having a cocktail was an enjoyable experience. read more

My boyfriend treated me here for Easter. It was both of our first time and we were absolutely blown away. We actually met on easter 9 years ago, its kind of our holiday and what better way to celebrate than to try a new place and eat lots of good food. What a stunning restaurant! Beautifully lit, colorful decor, and loved the live pianist. The buffet was delicious! My favorites were the pizza, meatballs, and short rib lasagna. The french toast also very tasty! My boyfriend loved all the seafood and the short rib. For dessert I really liked the Torrone and the lemon dessert thing. I dont know what its called but it was so good. I did get to see a glimpse of the chef and I thought it was really cool to see him interact with customers. This place really does make you feel like family. I would come back for sure. There were many pasta dishes, salad, seafood, lamb, filet mignon, ham, quiche, pizza, french toast, and desserts included amaretti cookies, cannolis, pavlova, fruit, lemon cake, almond cookies with ricotta filling, and more! The extra cheesy lasagna with ricotta was my favorite, the french toast was also great, and the whole dessert bar was excellent. The Peach Bellini was very good. It was about $100 per person. My friend picked this spot to have her birthday dinner. It was easy to make a large party reservation. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived. They gave us some champagne though which was nice. It is in a plaza so there is plenty of parking. You can also do valet. Calamari fritti (3.5/5): The calamari was hot and fresh. It came with a san marzano tomato sauce. The portion was a bit small. Linguine & clams (5/5): This was yummy. It was light and the portion was good. The roasted garlic with calabrian chile paired well with the white wine sauce. The clams were good too. Definitely a nice dinner spot. Menu has a lot of options. The interior was strangely decorated though. They had giant screens in one portion of the restaurant. It was reminiscent of Las Vegas. The Fish Picata was light and flavorful and was served with gnocchi. The Veal Bolognese was rich with meat that was fork tender. For dessert, we tried the Biscotti Tiramisu and the Dolce Ferrero. Both great but I would go for the Dolce that's so decadent! Our server Gary was super attentive and friendly. Matthew and Nicola were gracious and made sure we had a wonderful dining experience. The Italiano in Scottsdale had some highlights but it didn't quite live up to the rave reviews I'd heard. The decor is beautiful and very welcoming, setting a great first impression. The staff were friendly, but overall not very attentive. They were extremely busy, but the service was lacking throughout the meal. We started with the burrata & prosciutto and the prime beef carpaccio with artichoke. The beef carpaccio was actually delicious, but it was topped with a large amount of arugula that it felt more like a salad than carpaccio. The burrata and prosciutto was disappointing for me because of the olives and bell peppers. My friends did enjoy it though. The Caesar salad arrived next. It was heavy on the dressing but still tasty; but after the arugula-heavy carpaccio, it felt like I was eating a second salad. For entrées, we ordered the short rib lasagna, spicy rigatoni alla vodka with chicken, and capellini with shrimp. The short rib lasagna was the best dish. It was very flavorful. The rigatoni lacked flavor, and the chicken was very dry. The capellini was also quite dry, with noodles stuck together and difficult to separate. The shrimp were large, and the sauce itself was good, but there wasn't enough of it to coat the pasta and shrimp, making the dish very bland and dry. For dessert we ordered the Biscoff tiramisu, which was served in a very cute chocolate mug. The presentation was fun, and it was delicious. While the ambiance of the restaurant itself is lovely, the dining experience was diminished by some of the diners who were dressed VERY inappropriately. read more

It is too loud in there! To be honest, it felt like I was on a cruise ship. Some people refer to the decor as being Las Vegas like however I really felt like I was on the high seas. The back room that has the curtain between the main dining room and it is much quieter. There is a projected "mural" on the wall where the subjects in the mural eyes' open and close and their hair moves with the wind. It's slightly gaudy. The bread surface was delicious, warm, ciabatta, or Italian bread with olive oil and balsamic you can dispense yourself. The fried zucchini blossoms were quite tasty. A crispy tempura batter in the filling had mint and mozzarella, which gave it a little more flavor than just ricotta alone. The marinara sauce was a little thin and watery. The salads were the bomb those were very tasty. We had the Italiano salad with the roasted peppers. It was a very large salad, even shared by two people. We then shared the chicken and sausage scarpariello and the pasta with spicy njuda. The chicken breast pieces and sausage were very tasty. However, the sauté escarole was watery and flavorless. It was really bad. The pasta with spicy njuda was OK. It needed to be a little bit thinner in terms of the sauce and needed some more flavor although the crispy guanciale on top was a nice touch. Our friends ordered the chicken parmigiana and the lobster ravioli. Both of those were better than our dishes with the ravioli being the stand out dish of all. We really like The Sicilian Butcher, The Italian Daughter and Patricia's Pizza however, this experience and food didn't seem up to par for the Maggiore family at least not to me. Service was very friendly although one glass of wine ordered during dinner never came until the entrées have been finished. They comped that glass. read more

For a higher-end Italian restaurant, I expected a top-notch Caesar, but it was overly chopped, heavy, and topped with what tasted like cheap granular Parmesan. I also added anchovies for an extra $3 and received just three pickled anchovies placed on top, which felt underwhelming. We booked The Italiano for Christmas dinner since we associate good Italian cuisine with festivity and abundance, and plus our 5yo son loves pasta, especially penne. The Italiano is a large, gorgeous restaurant with classic Italian murals Creation of Adam and Birth of Venus. It has a bit of an elegant Vegas nightclub feel, along with a piano player. The menu was a $99 Christmas Buffet that's highly seafood centric with both cold and hot versions of shrimp and crab along with grilled salmon. There was an assortment of pastas with US East Coast Red Sauce (they call it gravy). We enjoyed pretty much everything we tried, although I did find the lamb at the carving station a bit on the dry and overcooked side. Our son cannot each much from the buffet, but the kitchen was nice enough to crank out hand-made rigatoni with butter and cheese for him. It was cooked al dente and he ate all of it. Its easy to overeat at buffets but here you must save room for their dessert station. The Tiramisu and pistachio cannoli were great but the true star is the Italian Flag, a bite-sized red-white-green pastry with a thin layer of chocolate. I also recommend getting a cocktail early to set the mood - their smooth, eggy and peachy Bellini was refreshing. Definitely want to come back to try their regular menu, which has more pasta options and even one with 7 types of seafood. $99 is a bit pricey for a buffet even by Vegas standards, but hey its Christmas and the restaurant was packed! read more

The menu is extensive, and the wine list is practically a novel -- offering everything from old-world classics to new-world favorites, plus a great cocktail selection. We came here for our anniversary and were really excited to try it out. That said, we were a little turned off by how pushy our server was with the upselling. We had already ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine, but he kept steering us toward the most expensive dishes and even tried to talk us out of the wine we wanted in favor of one that was $65 more. It definitely took away from the experience a bit. On the bright side, the food itself was very good! The stuffed pepper was flavorful, packed with sausage and cheese, and the red sauce was incredible -- clearly homemade. We also tried the chicken sorrentino and the aneletti pasta. The aneletti was our favorite: rich, hearty, and full of short rib flavor. The "off-menu" amaretto dessert was another highlight -- such a thoughtful touch for our anniversary. Even the warm, homemade bread at the start was excellent. Overall, we really enjoyed the red sauce, the pasta, and that special dessert. We had never been to The Italiano in Scottsdale, so we had our date night there Saturday night. The place is old school, Italian family atmosphere, with just the right amount of energy, as well as relaxing. Our waitress, 'O', was very sweet and professional, and treated us like family. The bread was served first, it was freshly baked and fluffy, so delicious! It was hard to stop eating it! 'O' suggested the appetizer which was the Zucchini Blossom...stuffed with burrata, ricotta, mint and fried golden with a side of marinara for dipping. I don't eat anything fried, but it sounded delicious and I had to try it!! It did NOT disappoint! For dinner, my husband ordered the Short Rib Lasagna (sorry, failed to take a pic). He said it was fantastic! Hardy and creamy, he mentioned he'd definitely order it again. I ordered the Fave E Puselli. I had never had fava beans, but it also had other vegetables mixed in the creamy sauce, it was spectacular! It was a lot of food! Leftovers for lunch! We both had a cappuccino which was delicious as well. It wasn't over yet! We also tried the Strawberry Tiramisu and the Lemon Meringue Cheesecake...that put the both of us in food coma! Whoever the pastry chef is, their creativity is second to none! Finally, we were given a small, tasty lemon sorbet to cleanse the palate! What an amazing evening!! Went to The Italiano with four people, and lemme tell ya this joint reminds you how a real restaurant's supposed to run. We started with the zucchini flowers, fried up perfect, light, crispy, the whole deal. The eggplant appetizer? Fuggedaboutit. Melt-in-your-mouth good. Everybody at the table got a different entrée, and every single one came out bang-on delicious. Not one miss. Gary, our waiter, he was sharp on top of everything without hovering, just how the pros do it. Then the assistant manager, Eddie Quintana, comes over, shakes our hands, introduces himself. Class. You don't see that too much anymore. That's old-school hospitality. I been here twice before, and I'll say it again: you can't get a bad meal in this place. A little bummed to be writing a mediocre review because as you can see I wrote an amazing 5 star review for these guys months back. However, I was extremely disappointed that there was no happy hour today as that's literally why we came and sat at the bar :( nowhere was it posted on the website that they wouldn't have happy hour on Valentine's Day in fact the website says "all day every day at the bar" (posted below). That started off our meal as a huge bummer. The service really lacked this time. The bartenders weren't very friendly. We waited almost 12 minutes until I had to finally flag somebody down just to take our order. We were not offered bread like last time although we saw other people were offered it. The food thankfully is super delicious- I loved the chicken parmigiana. My husband enjoyed his vodka pasta. I will say however the female manager is VERY sweet!! She had a great personality and apologized that it should've been listed on the website about the no happy hour.
