Had a great time here for Mother's Day brunch. Awesome buffet. Our server, Carlos was always there for us. Nice ambiance and decor. We want to go back soon to try the regular menu. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend treated me here for Easter. It was both of our first time and we were absolutely blown away. We actually met on easter 9 years ago, its kind of our holiday and what better way to celebrate than to try a new place and eat lots of good food. What a stunning restaurant! Beautifully lit, colorful decor, and loved the live pianist. The buffet was delicious! My favorites were the pizza, meatballs, and short rib lasagna. The french toast also very tasty! My boyfriend loved all the seafood and the short rib. For dessert I really liked the Torrone and the lemon dessert thing. I dont know what its called but it was so good. I did get to see a glimpse of the chef and I thought it was really cool to see him interact with customers. This place really does make you feel like family. I would come back for sure. Perhaps the next time there is a buffet. So many fabulous choices.

Lots of dishes for the Easter buffet, pasta, seafood, lamb, filet mignon, dessert, salad, french toast

We absolutely loved the Easter buffet! There were many pasta dishes, salad, seafood, lamb, filet mignon, ham, quiche, pizza, french toast, and desserts included amaretti cookies, cannolis, pavlova, fruit, lemon cake, almond cookies with ricotta filling, and more! The extra cheesy lasagna with ricotta was my favorite, the french toast was also great, and the whole dessert bar was excellent. The Peach Bellini was very good. It was about $100 per person. Must be reserved ahead of time. Chef Joey was onsite welcoming and helping out. The ice sculpture and live pianist was a nice touch. My family and boyfriend loved it!

Beautiful restaurant with great foods and great vibes! I ordered the Italiano Mare and it was so flavorful and delicious. The pasta was al dente & the seafood was incredible. For dessert, I got the ferrero cake and it was rich and creamy and absolutely divine. I enjoyed listening to the live pianist and the space itself is super gorgeous. The service was very pleasant. The staff was attentive and patient. Really loved my experience here.

My friend picked this spot to have her birthday dinner. It was easy to make a large party reservation. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived. They gave us some champagne though which was nice. It is in a plaza so there is plenty of parking. You can also do valet. Calamari fritti (3.5/5): The calamari was hot and fresh. It came with a san marzano tomato sauce. The portion was a bit small. Linguine & clams (5/5): This was yummy. It was light and the portion was good. The roasted garlic with calabrian chile paired well with the white wine sauce. The clams were good too. Definitely a nice dinner spot. Menu has a lot of options. The interior was strangely decorated though. They had giant screens in one portion of the restaurant. It was reminiscent of Las Vegas. They gave a little dessert for my friend's birthday too which was nice.

Another great meal at the Italiano. We started with the Chilled Seafood Tower followed by the Fried Zuchini Flower. The Zuchini Flower is definitely a must have....soft and velvety cheese inside perfectly fried Zuchini Flower. We decided to try the 2 specials and they were delicious. The Fish Picata was light and flavorful and was served with gnocchi. The Veal Bolognese was rich with meat that was fork tender. For dessert, we tried the Biscotti Tiramisu and the Dolce Ferrero. Both great but I would go for the Dolce that's so decadent! Our server Gary was super attentive and friendly. Matthew and Nicola were gracious and made sure we had a wonderful dining experience. As for the ambience, they have a live piano player but unfortunately drowned by the cheerful chattering.

Excellent Italian restaurant where Chef Joey and the servers (Mario) go above and beyond while serving up delicious authentic Italian dishes.

The Italiano in Scottsdale had some highlights but it didn't quite live up to the rave reviews I'd heard. The decor is beautiful and very welcoming, setting a great first impression. The staff were friendly, but overall not very attentive. They were extremely busy, but the service was lacking throughout the meal. We started with the burrata & prosciutto and the prime beef carpaccio with artichoke. The beef carpaccio was actually delicious, but it was topped with a large amount of arugula that it felt more like a salad than carpaccio. The burrata and prosciutto was disappointing for me because of the olives and bell peppers. My friends did enjoy it though. The Caesar salad arrived next. It was heavy on the dressing but still tasty; but after the arugula-heavy carpaccio, it felt like I was eating a second salad. For entrées, we ordered the short rib lasagna, spicy rigatoni alla vodka with chicken, and capellini with shrimp. The short rib lasagna was the best dish. It was very flavorful. The rigatoni lacked flavor, and the chicken was very dry. The capellini was also quite dry, with noodles stuck together and difficult to separate. The shrimp were large, and the sauce itself was good, but there wasn't enough of it to coat the pasta and shrimp, making the dish very bland and dry. For dessert we ordered the Biscoff tiramisu, which was served in a very cute chocolate mug. The presentation was fun, and it was delicious. While the ambiance of the restaurant itself is lovely, the dining experience was diminished by some of the diners who were dressed VERY inappropriately.

It is too loud in there! To be honest, it felt like I was on a cruise ship. Some people refer to the decor as being Las Vegas like however I really felt like I was on the high seas. The back room that has the curtain between the main dining room and it is much quieter. There is a projected "mural" on the wall where the subjects in the mural eyes' open and close and their hair moves with the wind. It's slightly gaudy. The bread surface was delicious, warm, ciabatta, or Italian bread with olive oil and balsamic you can dispense yourself. The fried zucchini blossoms were quite tasty. A crispy tempura batter in the filling had mint and mozzarella, which gave it a little more flavor than just ricotta alone. The marinara sauce was a little thin and watery. The salads were the bomb those were very tasty. We had the Italiano salad with the roasted peppers. It was a very large salad, even shared by two people. We then shared the chicken and sausage scarpariello and the pasta with spicy njuda. The chicken breast pieces and sausage were very tasty. However, the sauté escarole was watery and flavorless. It was really bad. The pasta with spicy njuda was OK. It needed to be a little bit thinner in terms of the sauce and needed some more flavor although the crispy guanciale on top was a nice touch. Our friends ordered the chicken parmigiana and the lobster ravioli. Both of those were better than our dishes with the ravioli being the stand out dish of all. We really like The Sicilian Butcher, The Italian Daughter and Patricia's Pizza however, this experience and food didn't seem up to par for the Maggiore family at least not to me. Service was very friendly although one glass of wine ordered during dinner never came until the entrées have been finished. They comped that glass.

Great place for a special occasion. Dishes were phenomenal with great service. Loved the lobster ravioli The decor was so fun and coastal too! Expect to pay quite a bit but delicious food

    Antipasto for two
    Charlene D.

Ambiance and service were great--really enjoyable atmosphere and attentive staff. We ordered the antipasto for two, a couple of Caesar salads, and pasta Bolognese (which we ended up taking to go, so I can't comment on it yet). The dishes we did have were nicely presented. Unfortunately, the Caesar salad was very disappointing. For a higher-end Italian restaurant, I expected a top-notch Caesar, but it was overly chopped, heavy, and topped with what tasted like cheap granular Parmesan. I also added anchovies for an extra $3 and received just three pickled anchovies placed on top, which felt underwhelming. Overall, a great setting and service, but the Caesar salad really missed the mark--especially for a place of this caliber.

Christmas Dinner Buffet First Plate - pastas, salmon, and sweet potatoes (5 stars)
    Daniel C.

We booked The Italiano for Christmas dinner since we associate good Italian cuisine with festivity and abundance, and plus our 5yo son loves pasta, especially penne. The Italiano is a large, gorgeous restaurant with classic Italian murals Creation of Adam and Birth of Venus. It has a bit of an elegant Vegas nightclub feel, along with a piano player. The menu was a $99 Christmas Buffet that's highly seafood centric with both cold and hot versions of shrimp and crab along with grilled salmon. There was an assortment of pastas with US East Coast Red Sauce (they call it gravy). We enjoyed pretty much everything we tried, although I did find the lamb at the carving station a bit on the dry and overcooked side. Our son cannot each much from the buffet, but the kitchen was nice enough to crank out hand-made rigatoni with butter and cheese for him. It was cooked al dente and he ate all of it. Its easy to overeat at buffets but here you must save room for their dessert station. The Tiramisu and pistachio cannoli were great but the true star is the Italian Flag, a bite-sized red-white-green pastry with a thin layer of chocolate. I also recommend getting a cocktail early to set the mood - their smooth, eggy and peachy Bellini was refreshing. Definitely want to come back to try their regular menu, which has more pasta options and even one with 7 types of seafood. $99 is a bit pricey for a buffet even by Vegas standards, but hey its Christmas and the restaurant was packed!

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Scottsdale, Italiano by Chef Joey absolutely delivers. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit! The restaurant is elegant, inviting, and effortlessly upscale. The decor is truly stunning, with every detail thoughtfully designed to create a warm yet luxurious vibe. As for the food... absolutely divine! Our table ordered the lasagna, lobster ravioli, and rigatoni, and somehow each dish outshined the last. Every bite was rich, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. Our sever Oscar our server was wonderful and playful we enjoyed every moment!

There was a long wait when we arrived but the staff made it pleasant by bringing out free bruschetta while we waited, which was a nice touch. The ambiance is very Italian--warm, charming, and inviting. They also have outdoor seating, which adds to the whole experience. There was live music that night, and it really set the mood without being overwhelming. I tried two of their non-alcoholic drinks: the rosemary mint lemonade and the hibiscus mango--both refreshing and thoughtfully made. My husband went with a lager beer, which paired well with the food. When we ordered, we were asked if we wanted to try their homemade pasta, and once we heard they have squid ink pasta, my husband didn't hesitate. We ordered it, and wow--it was amazing. The pasta was deeply flavorful, loaded with seafood, and served with lobster meat on the side, which took it to another level. We also ordered the Filetto di Malale--pork tenderloin sautéed with tender asparagus and green peppercorns, finished with a bourbon flambé. It was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. For dessert, we had the flaming panna cotta, which was both fun to watch and deliciously sweet. We were also happy to meet the owner-chef, Marcellino Verzino, which made the experience even more special. Overall, this place is absolutely worth visiting if you're looking for authentic Italian dishes here in Arizona. Definitely a spot we would return to.

My Italian friend recommended Uncle Sal's as an authentic Italian spot -- so I had to go on that…read morerecommendation and I definitely thought the food was good. I did go on a first date here and maybe not as romantic as I would have liked -- much more of a family vibe -- or in the bar area was all about sports. It wasn't too loud so that was good since we were doing a lot of talking, LOL. It was a Saturday night and my date had made a reservation but it looked like we could have easily gotten a table without one. There is a parking lot but couldn't tell if it was easy parking because we took an Uber since we were drinkiing. I started with an espresso martini and I would give it a 4/10 -- I think the espresso used was low quality because it wasn't my favorite. My date got a whiskey old fashioned and he liked it. Service was pretty good -- it was a busy Saturday night. I wanted to order a glass of wine with my meal but the server was gone for some time so my date had to flag her down. I ordered the halibut with crab on top and the server recommended a white wine to pair -- I thought it was an usual suggestion but went with it -- she didn't even suggest which white - so I went with a Sav Blanc and it was actually quite good -- I didn't catch the name. We started with some shrimp cocktail and that was pretty good, sauce was tasty. The halibut was actually quite good and cooked to perfection - the crab on top was really good too -- it came on a bed of linguini which was too much -- I didn't really eat that. My date had the filet special with a lobster sauce -- it looked really rich and the portion was huge! He couldn't even eat it all. Overall I enjoyed my meal, I was quite full when we left, LOL! I didn't catch how much the total cost was but I think it had to have been at least $200 -- so definitely some dough will be dropped! But for a special occasion it is worth it.

My friends and I had an amazing time here. Our server was Emily and she was so pleasant and…read moreattentive. She really made our dinner an enjoyable one. We ordered a nice bottle of wine and they brought us some garlic bread. The bread is delicious and a great start. For an appetizer we went with the Oysters Rockefeller which our party of 6 loved. Entrees come with a soup or Sal's house salad. I liked the salad, nice presentation. I had the Chicken Piccata which is my usual go to and it didn't disappoint. It came with a side of green beans, which happens to also be my favorite. My BF enjoyed his Veal Parmigiana. Everyone enjoyed their food. I liked the atmosphere, nice wood decor and being dimly lit adds a sophisticated but still casual vibe. They also have a cool bar area, nice bartenders. We definitely will be back when in town.
