Spaghetti di oliva
Ben H.

I ordered food from Vic & Olas to-go. In hindsight, I should have ate at the bar as I was solo. It is a beautiful restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating. I used pictures on Yelp to assist with my order. I ordered the Spaghetti di Oliva, which I thought underwhelmed. The cheese was not melted, like in the pictures, and the pasta wasn't al dente. Perhaps the experience would have been better dining in and ordering a non pasta dish.

Loved Vic & Ola's for upscale southern Italian food in DC ranch. We sat on the partially covered patio for an early dinner in mid April. We found the service to be quick and efficient. The seating arrangements seem a bit close to other parties, so don't expect quiet ambiance. Loved that there are mocktail options offered, with NA spirits as well and server described them all! We shared a tri colore salad to start which the kitchen split for us, always appreciated. Bread and butter is also offered. Then Tuscan salmon with pasta which was super rich but delicious, and he had the pasta de Isabel with shrimp and Calabrian peppers! The tiramisu was quite large and served in individual glass - definitely plenty for 2 to share. Best tiramisu we've ever had!!!

Beet Salad

We live in the area but we always forget about this little gem because it's kind of tucked away on DC Ranch Market Street. We dined here on Friday evening with Zev as our server. He went above and beyond letting me taste a couple of wines and with great recommendations for our dinner selections. We shared the beet salad. It was a generous portion and they kindly split it for us which is always appreciated. My husband had the lasagna and I had the gluten free cacio de Pepe. We both enjoyed our meals. The ambience is fabulous. We were on the covered outdoor patio near the bar. We will not forget about this place again. There are so many options for my gluten allergy so I can't wait to try more menu items.

Pollo saltimbocca

Lovely as always, service is always friendly. Definitely a busy spot so plan accordingly. We started with the tomatoes and burrata and it was delicious, the tomatoes were so fresh. We usually go with the Sal's Polpettes which are also very good, but we felt like switching it up this time. For my main, I kept it a little lighter with the pollo saltimbocca. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the sauce and mushrooms paired perfectly. Typically I go for the sausage pasta rigatoni, which is also delectable.

This place came highly recommended by coworkers of mine and honestly I see why. I'm kind of surprised I hadn't heard of this place before. It's very traditional Italian, white table cloth kind of vibe. Very cute though. Very busy too. More on the casual side I would say but you can dress it up or down. The patio is very nice. For food we started with the mussels and heirloom tomato and buratta salad. The salad wasn't anything amazing flavor wise just nice and fresh. The mussels were HUGE. Significantly more flavor in this dish. A lot of work but that's what you get with mussels. For dinner we had the lasagna and halibut. Both of these dishes were outstanding. The halibut was delicious, I see why people come specifically for this one. The lemon butter caper sauce was phenomenal. It was velvety and citrusy and the caper added a nice depth of flavor. The fish was flaky and tender. The lasagna was very generous. Beef and pork and in the bolognese. It was homestyle comfort food through and through. Very classic flavors. For dessert we had the tiramisu. It was simply delicious. Not overly sweet, good coffee flavor, and creamy mascarpone. All in all we spent 220$ before tip and that included 2 drinks each. You easily spend less. I think it's fairly priced. We had a lot of food. Our server was sweet and genuine. Very helpful with recommendations. Great experience. We already have a reservation to come back!

All Saints

Parents' friends made a reservation for our group and thankfully warned us to dress warm in advance since we would be on the patio. It was busy for a Tuesday night so we were grateful they made a reservation. The patio heaters have adjustable output we cranked up and the server offered blankets which was helpful! The ambiance is very quaint and the smell of the food immediately captivates. I ordered the All Saints cocktail with Vodka instead of the Gin and it was divine! The little saint charm was a fun keepsake to remind us of the evening. Drinks took a while but with the entire party having cocktails it was somewhat expected. For dinner my dad and I both ordered the Sausage Pasta Rigatoni and I highly recommend. The sausage leaned spicy with the mix of peppers but was well balanced. All of the entrees looked and smelled excellent. I absolutely plan to return! P.S. the story of Vic & Ola inspiring Chef Sheila is heartwarming and worth a read!

mediocre taste of some legumes with burrata

This place is a joke. Has nothing to do with the Italian cuisine.. I asked for a thing to not put spicy in my food, they said they can't and refused to take my order.. the bread was cold, bad taste, I think was uncooked, then the pasta I had was uncooked.. then the service took so long, water took long, no olive oils, just 1 weird oil with vinegar and I asked to bring me some more and didn't, the waiter was hating his life.. very unpleasant experience.. never will go back.. and we had some flies flying above my food..

I've been to Vic & Ola's several time. Everything has been a great experience. The ambiance is very cute. I prefer the outdoor seating as there's so much outdoor heaters to keep you warm during the colder months. Service has always been amazing, no complaints. The food is always good. We ordered a couple pasta dishes to share, burrata plate for appetizer and the cake for dessert with vanilla gelato. The espresso martinis are super good and you know there's real espresso shots in there. Highly recommend anything on the menu!

Aside from my dinner companions Megan made our night. She served the Empress, Queen,Sparkles and Grumpy with grace, style and humor. Although Sparkles beet me to it Megan heard my storey and took me card. Thank you Megan you are a credit to Vic and Olga's

Amaretto sour
Allison J.

This was my first time here and the food is delicious! We had the appetizer and the burrata salad was amazing. The cheese was good and the arugula was so fresh. It had walnuts and dried figs. Also heirloom tomatoes. The cheese bread was good and like a bit spicy. I had an amaretto sour. The thing with amaretto sours is that not every bartender makes it the same. I'd say the amaretto sour is one of the best I've had. The only one that would be slightly better is one I had at north Italia. Moving to the food. The salmon tortellini was so good. I was not expecting the to be these huge tortellinis. They are stuffed with lots of salmon and in a vodka sauce. The pasta it was wrapped in was so good and cooked al dente. Definitely hand made. I loved the sauce. I even asked for bread so soak up the sauce. The sauce is homemade too and tasted amazing. The sauce was creamy and wasn't salty. I wish I had extra cheese on top. The tortellinis were on top of a spinach bed but the spinach was like really salty for some reason. We also had the halibut and the lasagna. The halibut was very good and flaky. The mashed potatoes were also good with that dish. The lasagna was like this huge portion with lots of meat. The desserts were good too. The butter cake was nice and warm and not dry. The gelato was creamy and had good flavor. The restaurant is more of an inside/outside type restaurant. The outside is definitely bigger than inside. They have blankets in case it's too cold. Couple things however. During our visit the table was not fully set. Me and another companion were missing dinner knives and only had a butter knife. And then one companion was missing an appetizer fork. One of the companions had two cracked tableware. One was the water glass and the other was a plate which I found rather eyebrow raising. After our appetizers they replaced our full silverware which was nice. We had the bread and butter but I'm not sure what the butter was. It was good though. Our waitress kinda just set it down and left. The drinks we ordered also took what I feel like was kind of a while. My amaretto sour and a beer that was ordered and sparkling water took over 15 mins to have on the table. I was considering perhaps ordering an after dinner cocktail but didn't want to in case it took 15 mins to get. I would definitely come back. The food is just amazing. The price isn't what I feel like would be "too expensive" for the quality of food you're getting. All of us left full! And happy with how good the food is. Great choice to spend our dinner.

Paolanzana, grilled eggplant with roasted tomatoes and mozzarella. Very large portion. Easily feeds 4.

Visiting from Florida, my lavish Scottsdale friends took me to Vic & Ola's for dinner. What a spectacular Italian restaurant! Our server was Megan and a more delightful girl could not be found. She was friendly, attractive and very attentive. She gave me great recommendations and she knew the menu well. I started with the Paolanzana appetizer. It had nicely sliced grilled eggplant with roasted tomatoes and mozzarella, basil, and cured olives. It was a large, fantastic appetizer that could easily feed 4 people. Next I ordered the Pasta Alla Norma. Honestly, it was the best pasta dish I ever had. Bell Flower pasta, with eggplant, garlic and basil. Red chili flakes give it some nice heat. For $21, the portion was very large. The red sauce was rich. Finally, I ordered Tuscan Salmon. It was baked with breadcrumbs and served on dill asparagus parpadelli pasta, with artichokes, pine nuts, roasted garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, Calabrian chilies and a smooth white cream sauce. The salmon was moist and flaky and the pasta was cooked perfectly. This was another fantastic dish. I'll return for sure. Since the portions are large, I only need to order a salad and a pasta dish. I over ordered this time, but I have nice leftovers.

Came here for happy hour on a Sunday, they have HH everyday from 3pm-6pm only at the bar. Their bar has limited seating so try to get there as soon as it starts. Their HH menu is pretty extensive, an array of food & drinks to order from which I have included in the photos. Sophisticated and charming decor, same owner as Little Snitch, Soul Cafe, Alma, & Pescada. Their pasta is homemade style and all of the dishes we ordered were so flavorful and bold. Every dish stood out on their own. We order and shared the ribs, whipped ricotta, arincini, cacio e pepe, and Sal's polpettes. I highly recommend all their dishes! Ribs were juicy, sweet and savory and bursting with flavors. Whipped ricotta was so delicate and had lots of different flavor components that married so well together. Cacio e pepe was just amount of richness and very flavorful. Arincini and meatballs were cooked to perfection! Really enjoy this place, if you cannot make it to HH you can try their dishes for lunch (11 am-3 pm daily) or try their summer lunch prefixed menu for just $39 per person (11am-4 pm daily).

Ask the Community - Vic & Ola's

Do they do special reservations (rose petals, flowers, etc.)?

They did a special set up for a birthday I had with my best friend, without me even asking so I imagine they must do special requests like you're talking about

Is it noisy?

Don't sit by the entrance. We were seated by the host and it was quite noisy.

Do they have a corkage fee?

Sorry. Don't know.

The bar has 3 tables available for use during HH.

Are shorts and a dress shirt acceptable?

So being a northerner (we don't need to wear shorts at every turn because it is not so hot!) I would say they should be very nice looking if done! However if one is sitting indoors with AC and they have pants available, why not wear those? It is a… Read more

"Eat Like Italiano at Marcellino"…read more Marcellino Ristorante in Scottsdale is one of those places that's clearly popular for a reason. There was a long wait when we arrived but the staff made it pleasant by bringing out free bruschetta while we waited, which was a nice touch. The ambiance is very Italian--warm, charming, and inviting. They also have outdoor seating, which adds to the whole experience. There was live music that night, and it really set the mood without being overwhelming. I tried two of their non-alcoholic drinks: the rosemary mint lemonade and the hibiscus mango--both refreshing and thoughtfully made. My husband went with a lager beer, which paired well with the food. When we ordered, we were asked if we wanted to try their homemade pasta, and once we heard they have squid ink pasta, my husband didn't hesitate. We ordered it, and wow--it was amazing. The pasta was deeply flavorful, loaded with seafood, and served with lobster meat on the side, which took it to another level. We also ordered the Filetto di Malale--pork tenderloin sautéed with tender asparagus and green peppercorns, finished with a bourbon flambé. It was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. For dessert, we had the flaming panna cotta, which was both fun to watch and deliciously sweet. We were also happy to meet the owner-chef, Marcellino Verzino, which made the experience even more special. Overall, this place is absolutely worth visiting if you're looking for authentic Italian dishes here in Arizona. Definitely a spot we would return to.

The ambiance isn't modern it's more home-style but honestly, who cares when the food is this good? The service was excellent and incredibly fast. We were on a bit of a time crunch, and they helped us wrap everything up right on schedule. For drinks, I ordered a Cosmo and oh my one of the best cocktails I've had. The flavor was perfectly balanced and so smooth. For appetizers, we tried Emma's dumplings, beet salad, Brussels sprouts, and burrata. They started us off with house-made bread and homemade butter, I could eat that all day. So good! We were pleasantly surprised by the amazing vegetarian options. The Brussels sprouts, beet salad, and Emma's dumplings were definite winners each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. For mains, we ordered the penne vodka. I had high expectations, and while it was good, it was more on the average side compared to everything else. And finally the butter cake for dessert absolutely knocked it out of the park. You could literally taste the butter in every bite, Unreal. Pricing is very reasonable, and overall the service and food were beyond exceptional. We'll definitely be back!

We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff were so sweet to write us a handwritten note, this really started off our night on a good note so props to you guys! As a lemoncello connoisseur, their lemoncello in general was fantastic and the spritz was very refreshing and bright! It makes me very happy to know that they make everything from scratch, including some of their liquors. A little intimidated by the menu, I asked our server what he recommended. He was very knowledgeable and very descriptive when explaining the dishes! I got the short rib pasta, and my boyfriend got the shrimp linguine. This was seriously one of the best pastas that I've ever had! On both of our meals, the protein was just incredible. The shrimp was tender flavorful and I appreciated them keeping the shell on the shrimp it just tasted so fresh! For my short rib, it was just truly incredible. The sauce was rich and flavorful without being too heavy or overwhelming. The short rib just melted. Honestly, in this day and age it's very hard to find places like this in my experience where the service is top-tier. The ambience is welcoming, warm and you can taste the actual care and love that goes into everything that they put out. I look forward to bringing my friends and family to try this gem. So it needs to be said up front that diners, including myself, are able to be very picky about italian restaurants around here. I loved the overall vibe, design and decor. There's a big patio with a good sized bar open to the interior, and a bar inside with maybe only 10 seats. I didn't sit at the bar, but did see the bartender in lively banter with everyone there. I'd like to spend a couple hours at that bar sometime inside or out, get some bites and a cocktail. The dining room isn't too big or too small with classic dark walls and red booths, white tablecloths. My favorite. Classy and comfortable. The food was all excellent, very flavorful and perfectly executed. Even parking at DiMaggio's is easy which is rare in Scottsdale. I'm still confused about what kind of restaurant DiMaggio's is - casual or fine dining? On the one hand, the decor is upscale, low lighting, a nice bar, white tablecloths and fine dining prices. At $45, their lasagna is by far the most expensive in town, and their other entrees are all in the mid-$30's to $45, which to me sets a certain expectation. Our service was dismally inattentive, not showing up much, letting drinks sit at the bar too long so they got warm, and letting our pasta sit at the window too long so the cream sauce had a film on it when it arrived. Probably half a dozen workers at all levels just standing around watching things but not doing anything when clearly lots of help was needed, passing our table many times while ignoring my attempt to get their attention for something lacking at my table. When we first met, our server did describe DiMaggio's as casual dining, which would justify any of my complaints, but again $45 entrees? I couldn't take someone I want to impress to DiMaggio's, but also don't want to spend this much for a casual meal. I definitely need to revisit DiMaggio's someday.

I did go on a first date here and maybe not as romantic as I would have liked -- much more of a family vibe -- or in the bar area was all about sports. It wasn't too loud so that was good since we were doing a lot of talking, LOL. It was a Saturday night and my date had made a reservation but it looked like we could have easily gotten a table without one. There is a parking lot but couldn't tell if it was easy parking because we took an Uber since we were drinkiing. I started with an espresso martini and I would give it a 4/10 -- I think the espresso used was low quality because it wasn't my favorite. My date got a whiskey old fashioned and he liked it. Service was pretty good -- it was a busy Saturday night. I wanted to order a glass of wine with my meal but the server was gone for some time so my date had to flag her down. I ordered the halibut with crab on top and the server recommended a white wine to pair -- I thought it was an usual suggestion but went with it -- she didn't even suggest which white - so I went with a Sav Blanc and it was actually quite good -- I didn't catch the name. We started with some shrimp cocktail and that was pretty good, sauce was tasty. The halibut was actually quite good and cooked to perfection - the crab on top was really good too -- it came on a bed of linguini which was too much -- I didn't really eat that. My date had the filet special with a lobster sauce -- it looked really rich and the portion was huge! He couldn't even eat it all. Overall I enjoyed my meal, I was quite full when we left, LOL! I didn't catch how much the total cost was but I think it had to have been at least $200 -- so definitely some dough will be dropped! But for a special occasion it is worth it.
