We made a reservation but we weren't seated for another 30 minutes and because they have a small bar with only 3-4 stools we had no place to sit down and wait. That was hard on my high heeled feet. The place was packed though so that's always a sign of a good place. I was impressed with how the staff adjusted table setting to quickly and smoothly, the tables are nicely set with white table cloths. I ordered a special that day of halibut and pasta that I really enjoyed. My husband ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and he thought the pasta was overcooked. His favorite part of the meal was the bread. We went here for our 28th wedding anniversary and I put a note in the reservation and I was a little disappointed when they didn't do anything special for us, even a cookie with 28 on it or a kind congratulations would have been nice. Oh well, it was still a nice experience and we're going to give them another shot to get a 5 star from us. read more

A little overpriced in my opinion. One cocktail, one glass of wine, one dinner, no dessert - including taxes and tip was $95. Plus I do not like restaurants where they remove dishes from the table while some people are still eating. Just because one person had finished eating, doesn't mean they should remove their dishes before everyone has finished eating. Just one of my quirks! read more

While the food was deviously delectable making adhering to a diet almost impossible the standout item was the Bruschetta! It made it almost impossible to finish the main course as our attention remained fixed on this delicacy. My family and I had the pleasure of celebrating my finances birthday there. They treated us like family and the service was exceptional. The restaurant was packed with people so it is clear the secret is out on this restaurant. Superb! From the moment you walk through the door until you walk out, everything is superb. Professional servers well versed in the menu and the history of the place. Specials were explained so well, three of the four of us ordered them. I had the Salmon special with a light lemon butter sauce and a side of home made fettuccine Alfredo. Bread is served to the table and an excellent side salad accompanied each entree. The drinks were balanced and very tasty. The interior of the space is beautiful with fresh, beautiful gladiolus's and white lilies spaced throughout. After dinner we were served a cordial that set us up for a wonderful white chocolate cheesecake. Tasted every bit as good as it looked. An Anniversary Home Run! I needed a good spot for our anniversary dinner and saw the super high reviews for this local Italian restaurant. I've lived in the valley for a LONG time and never knew Michelina's was less than 15 minutes from us in North Phoenix. We had no idea what we were walking into so we made a Yelp reservation. We were early and they took us right in with no issue. From the outside, the location doesn't scream "there's an excellent restaurant in here" only because it's part of an older strip mall. DO NOT let that turn you away. The inside is a nicer, but homey, dining room with fresh flowers on display every day. You can dress casual or nice and fit right in. It is dimly lit to bring in the ambiance so be warned if you wear glasses. Here's what we ordered: Starters - A A house salad came with our meals and set the stage perfectly for our entrees. They brought us fresh and warm bread which we loved. Homemade Sausage & Peppers - A+ The flavor on this dish was perfect. Some Italian restaurants overcompensate by going strong on the oregano / Italian spices. Not this place. They use the perfect amount so it's delicious but not overpowering. My wife loved this dish. Chicken Parm - A+ Might be the best chicken parm I've had. If it's not, I can't remember one that was better. The pasta was cooked just right and the marinara sauce was so good. The breading was fresh and it was cooked to perfection. Sometimes the chicken in a chicken parm dish can be rubbery. Not this one. The melted cheese was the perfect compliment. Service - A+ My wife and I agreed we might have had the most pleasant service in a restaurant. The gentleman who served us was attentive, personable, but didn't hover. The service was fast but they don't appear to be hurrying around. A wonderful representation of the entire restaurant vibe. Summary - If you like Italian food, just go. It's also a perfect spot for a celebration / anniversary / date night. Out for dinner with a wonderful family. The last time we dined at this restaurant was 25 years ago. The special of the evening was Osso Bucco . I ordered it and was extremely disappointing. The meat and spaghetti was as if someone had dropped an entire box of salt on it. The server never asked how the food was until he was cleaning up. He asked if I wanted to take it home and I told him I couldn't eat it as it was too salty. He didn't ask if he could offer anything else. This was my first time at Michelina's but certainly not the last! Michelina's food was absolutely divine. I've been wanting to try this place for a few months and I finally talked my husband into coming here. He's also happy that we did. It is a cozy little place with limited hours; it's probably best to make a reservation instead of just coming in. Our reservation was at 8:15 but we arrived by 15 min early which wasn't an issue. We were seated immediately. The bread we got was fresh and warm. It was a great start to the meal. The service was excellent. We were waited on by the owner's son. A very nice man. He recommended the Oysters Michelina and that's when I fell in love with this restaurant. I ordered the sea bass puttanesca which was one of tonight's specials. My husband had their sausage and peppers. My sea bass was absolutely perfect and the pasta they use is different from other Italian places. It seemed lighter and not so filling. I appreciated that. The dinner salad only comes with one type of dressing that's made in-house. It was delicious. I was sopping up the leftover dressing with some bread, it was that good. Do not leave without dessert. You will regret it. I couldn't decide between this desserts so our server gave us 1/2 slice of the chocolate mousse cake and the tiramisu. They were both so spectacular. I couldn't tell you that one was better than the other-they were both perfect. I loved that I left full, but not feeling bloated. There's a lot of love in this food. We ordered a bottle of Italian red and enjoyed the crusty Italian bread until the most delicious food came out. Egg plant parm. Yummy red sauce (gravy?) Veal parm. Yes please. Veal osso bucco. We ordered glasses of wine as well as some cocktails, all quite good. Standard bread baskets started our meal, followed by well seasoned and perfectly cooked calamari. My friends ordered fish as well as pasta dishes, and said they enjoyed their orders. I ordered the brasciola di casa, which came as three slices of brasciola served over pasta. The pasta was good, although I found the meat to be quite dry. The restaurant is a bit high-end, and that is reflected in the prices.
