I've spent quite a bit of time in Italy. Arrivederci makes me feel like I'm in Italy a little more than I'd like. I'll get to that in a bit. I stopped by this Italian restaurant for dinner on a Wednesday evening. Parking, while not the largest lot, is doable and free. This is the original location of what is now a well-known institution in Phoenix with several locations. Ambiance (2/5): A neighborhood Italian joint. A homey, relatively small restaurant. Murals of Roman Gods adorn the walls. A little tacky but somehow comforting at the same way. The big problem? Lack of A/C. I was there in July, which as we know is very, very hot in Phoenix. They had some fans going but it wasn't helping much. This is why I was reminded by Italy where A/C comes at a premium. You can't do that in Phoenix. Service (3/5): Pretty decent service, though not the most friendly. And one pretty big snafu. We were the last people dining at the restaurant. Though it was not close to closing time. I understand they probably wanted to close early. But look how they went about doing it. I was finishing a bottle of wine. Still had a glass in the bottle. Out of nowhere, the waiter came and took the bottle without saying anything. Though I was a bit shocked, I asked for the bottle to-go. He allowed it. I mean...awkward! That is not how you provide hospitality to your patrons. One of the weirdest service experiences I've ever had. Drinks (4/5): The wine I had, before it was almost stolen, was a nice deal as a house wine. It was a cabernet sauvignon. I'll never forget that waiter! Food (4/5): The menu consists of mostly your typical Italian classics. I was in the food for some carbonara pasta. While it can be heavy, it's a great dish and they do it well here. Thick, creamy, with a nice amount of bacon. For a surcharge, I added grilled chicken. The chicken was a little dry, but overall pretty good. Outside of my entree, they serve you complimentary bread with olive oil which is always a nice touch. I also tried some bruschetta from a shared appetizer which was fresh and flavorful. While the food is solid, the snafus with the service and lack of A/C during a Phoenix summer significantly impacted the experience. read more

In an area loaded with many spots for a great meal, Arrivederci on Pinnacle Peak is not going to make my list. I would summarize my party's visit here as overpriced and a bit amateurish. What they did get right for us was a reservation with an on-time, ready table. I have been to many finer dining spots that have not been able to do that so I do credit them with being ready for my larger, work group coming in for a post-work related meal. There endeth any chance at an above-par experience. I found the menu to be a bit overpriced not only for portion size, but also for presentation and lack of attention to detail. As an example, there were several typos on the menu (a $13 Caprese Salad was listed as a "Carpese Salad" and descriptions of some menu items spell tomato inconsistently (found also as "tomatoe"). I can overlook typos or spelling inconsistencies at casual cafe menu's, but for a spot that is going to easily run north of $65 for a full meal and a glass of wine, it is my belief that attention to details like this matter. The food, while tasting fine, was portioned small for the price and presented with disappointing visual appeal. My main was $28 for a pretty simple pasta. I don't mind markup and I don't mind paying a higher price for a great meal but mine looked a bit unfinished, almost amateurish like it was put together by a high school home econ class. Lastly, the service was really polite but also sub-par for the setting and the prices. The hostess seated us and handed all our menus to me and asked me to pass them down the table to the others in my party instead of individually presenting them to each person. And our server was absent for long periods. We waited so long for dessert menus and eventually a check to be presented to us that it probably added 35 min on to our time in the restaurant. It was an awkward wait for my colleagues and several of them simply left before dessert menus or a check were presented. Because I had to stay at the table to wait for and pay the bill, I was unable to properly say goodbye to some of my guests as they left so that was not a good look for the restaurant in front of my colleagues that I was hosting. While we were provided with basics for a meal (table, food, server,etc.), none of it was all that memorable and none of it was up to the approximately $120/person value standard that I paid for each of my party. To be fair, there was nothing about our experience that was disastrous, but there are many other restaurant choices in the area that have delivered for us in the past at similar price points. Based on that, I know that Arrivederci should do better. read more

I have been going there for years. The food quality has dropped significantly and the service has been less friendly.

This is our favorite place - kind of our "cheers". We live the food so much, tye atmosphere and the great staff. We are definitely regulars so we've tried almost everything in the menu - hard to recommend anything as it's all really really good. Each meal starts with their homemade pesto and warm yummy sourdough bread - all the pasta is fabulous as are the specials - love when they have fish options. October 3, 2025 Quiet , luxuriously paced dinner with my picky 1st generation , Jersey born and raised Italian husband , happened at this oasis restaurant tucked away in Scottsdale. The wonderful smells of gravy cooking and the genuinely warm and welcoming staff help to relax you , as you become immersed in this truly Italian experience. Nonna is cooking in the kitchen ( yes ! the real thing cooking your dinner as you watch) . Great menu choices that did NOT disappoint.. then as they pack up what is left of the generous portions of your meal a complimentary homemade limoncello is brought to the table.... Honestly better than the limoncello we had in Italy a few months ago. Then the magic happened ...Nonna came out of the kitchen to check we enjoyed our meal. Honestly ...where outside of Jersey does this experience happen.. She and my husband talked family , Jersey, food, Sicily and braciole. Here is where you will not believe what happened next... Nonna is going to call us when she is cooking braciole so my guy can have his favorite meal.... We had reservations for 10 on valentines at 5:30. We were seated right away in the back by the bar. The bar was overcrowded with people standing right on top of us. It was very loud. Our server had many other tables besides ours. Although he tried our service was extremely slow. It too 45 min before he took our order. My fiancé, his mom, and I came during restaurant week to celebrate her birthday and the food was delicious! We all started with Gigi's hand crafted meatballs (not pictured) and they were delicious - not dry and slathered in delicious marinara sauce. For my entree, I ordered the chicken Marsala which was very flavorful. My fiancé ordered the blackened sea bass and his mom ordered the lasagna. Everyone was happy with their order. For dessert, we tried both the tiramisu and cannoli. The cannoli cream was absolutely delicious - sweet and creamy, just like it should be and the cannoli shell, so crispy and fresh. The tiramisu was also pretty good - but it did leave me wanting a little bit more coffee flavor. Overall, such a great meal!! read more

This restaurant was great! An old school feeling of real jersey Italian dining. From the set up of the restaurant, to the lighting setting the ambiance, it gives all the feels. The greeting of our amazing and personable waiter to meeting the chef and owner herself, the entire dining experience felt special and had an old school feel of appreciation to the customer for joining them for dinner. The food was great with a beautiful presentation to boot. First and likely last time here. I choose restaurants based on menus and reviews. Menu looked great. Surprise when we got there they have a menu that's about a third of the dishes. No fish. No beef. One salad. No entree salads. I asked the server if I could get fish and the answer was no. There was no mention on the web site of an abbreviated menu. When we asked the person acting as the manager to come over she explained that they do this whenever there's a concert for Arizona Music fest. I ordered the healthiest option I could find. Chicken Piccata. I asked that the pasta be omitted and sauce on the side. Came with pasta and swimming in sauce that was gross. Sent it back. Came back as I asked. Was ok. Interestingly enough they charged $3.00 more on the "special abbreviated menu" than the regular menu. Plus added 3% for paying with a credit card. . read more

When we first walked in the restaurant, it smelled like a sewer and had continued throughout our entire meal. I have no clue what was going on but it was extremely off putting! We almost left instantly but did not want to hassle finding another place to dine on a Saturday evening. The service was really good and everyone was very friendly, however the food was definitely not worth the price and we even visited during restaurant week. Everything lacked seasoning and the "gelato" that came with dessert was freezer burnt ice cream that looked melted prior and was refrozen. Finally, when the check arrived we ended up getting charged more than advertised and had to ask for the correct check amount. We had such a great dining experience here. My husband and I came in for dinner on a Friday night with a reservation. Our waitress was outstanding. Great menu, prices are reasonable. Wine menu had lots of great options and prices fair. Our food was excellent, the wine was good, enjyed the bread and basil olive oil. Our dessert was tasty cannelloni and paired well with lemoncello! We had our Christmas meal at Arrivederci & had great time eating at the bar with Chris (because we didn't have reservations). He accommodated our every need and was entertaining as well. This place is wonderful in so many ways! The food is fabulous, everyone who works there is amazing and the restaurant is full of people who love this place so much they are regulars who go a couple times or more a week. The pesto sauce they serve with the bread is probably the best pesto I have ever had, and the Peroni Shrimp I could eat everyday. Came here for dinner for the first time. The dining room was closed due to staff problems I believe and only the bar area was open. Due note, this Arrivederci is not connected to the one in Fountain Hills. Our waiter was friendly but service was extremely slow. We waited over 20 min to place our order and over 30min to get our food. Weird enough, the table behind us was seated after we ordered but received their food and even FINISHED before we even had our dinner. They had a different waiter. Another annoying thing... We were each only given 1 piece of bread. We had to ask for more and our waiter once again only gave us 1 each. The waitress gave the table behind us a whole basket and refilled it several times automatically. You shouldn't have to ask for more repetitively. The food itself was good, a bit overpriced but definitely tasty. But the extremely slow service and bread situation was very annoying. I understand there is staff problems but there were only 2 other tables of people. 2 waiters should be able to handle that or at least say a simple "sorry for the wait" instead of ignoring the fact that we sat there for 40 min waiting. All in all, I won't be coming back to this location. The Fountain Hills establishment is much better. read more

Hidden Gem! I am a foodie and they are the real Italian restaurant. One, service is impeccable. Foster, our server , is very personable and attentive to all of our needs. Second, they actually make homemade gnocchi that melts in your mouth and their sauce tastes like I am at my Italian grandmas house. Third, most pastas are. Even though this restaurant has been around for a very long time I am so excited to have recently discovered it in my local neighborhood. Open for lunch and dinner, it's always a great meal to sit down to. Try the minestrone soup and ask for an extra roll. Trust me. The bar is a great place to sit, perfect height with nothing at the edge to have to lean over. Meaning you can pull your plate right up, no dripping! The musician is interesting. I think he sits there streaming doing karaoke? But he's actually really good. I like'd his set up and he was entertaining. I'd go back just to see him, have a bowl of soup and a big basket of bread. Feels like family, because it is a family business. Got the Ceasers salad it was okay, the lettuce as abit brown, which I don't like to see. The bread was complementary and delicious. They give you a pesto sauce and butter. Got the fettuccine Alfredo and asked for chicken as well. When I received my meal I got the fettuccine Alfredo with no chicken. Didn't bother to tell them. But the fettuccine was delicious. They took awhile to check back on me. There wasn't many customers. Got the tiramisu and cannoli to go. The cannoli was okay. The tiramisu was good. The food was mediocre, not fine dining. It looked and tasted like someone threw something together in their home kitchen or like cafeteria food. We ordered the chicken piccata and veal Marsala, and the sauce was a thick, goopy mixture of broth and tons of cornstarch. My husband's broccoli was jade green and overcooked. The veal was $38 and it was paper thin and my husband was still super hungry after finishing his food. The bill with tax and tip was almost $100 (just two entrees and a salad) and we were still hungry. The restaurant was only 10% full at 6pm on Sunday, we should have taken a que from that. All this was a lesson learned of where not to eat next time. Very disappointed. And the interior has not been updated in decades because we used to go to the restaurant that was in this space before it was sold and the decor and booths were exactly the same. read more

My husband and I decided we wanted Italian and did a search for Italian restaurants on Yelp. We were totally excited to see that they opened up Arrivederci just a couple miles from our house. We made reservations on Open Table and off we went. Located right behind Lamp Pizzeria. Trust me, these two restaurants are way different. If you're looking for true authentic Italian food, head over to Arrivederci! We were seated in a beautiful booth and were served their fresh baked bread and a small bowl of pesto. The bread was sent from heaven and I could drink the pesto dipping sauce, OMG it was so good!! We ordered a bottle of wine and for a starter we ordered the mussels and clams, it was perfection!!! The broth and the seafood was cooked perfectly. For dinner we ordered the chicken parm and the rolled eggplant. The pasta that was served with both dishes were cooked amazingly! The rolled eggplant was so incredibly cooked and tasted remarkable! Tammy was our server and she was awesome!!! For sure ask for her as your server. She went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. Gigi was also equally awesome, I believe she was an owner or manager but she's remarkable! We will be back, 100%!!!!
