Went to the Jazzbird venue. Very disappointed. It's a venue that has no identity. It's not a restaurant. It's not a bar. It's not a nightclub. It's not a music venue. It tries to be those things and fails in all. The layout: It's a long narrow room. The stage is on the smaller far end. The tables are arranged going back along the long direction. If you're sitting more than halfway back you'll be disappointed in the seating. In the back are high-top tables which are very small. The "bar" is along the long wall. The "restaurant" is catered food ( I don't think the venue has a kitchen). It's arranged buffet style on portable tables in the lobby. You go in a line and chose your dinner and they hand it to you in a plastic to-go container. You eat at your table and then bus your leftovers and trash to the trash can. There is no wait service. Just like eating at a fast food restaurant. If your sitting at a small high-top table there's not enough room for more than two people to eat. You'll be seated with strangers and they'll be right in your face as you eat. The "bar" only has beer and wine for alcohol. Or you could get a canned mixed drink. Stand in line and wait your turn at the end of the bar. The bar seats are reserved for the show. Remember no wait service. So if you want a drink during the show you have to go to the bar. Music was not Jazz. Very slow, boring folk. The crowd was 70+ year olds. And they charge for this experience? Won't be going back. read more

Awesome jazz venue in north Scottsdale, with two separate stages - one cocktail lounge themed space with a small stage, a bar and food, and also a dedicated (but still intimate) concert hall featuring the famous Ravenscroft piano, with great sound system and fantastic acoustics. We saw the Larry Fuller Trio in the concert hall and learned that the venue is a non-profit and every ticket sold benefits a charity. Wow, hidden gem in Scottsdale. We attended a concert in the jazz bar area. It was a free concert. Any donations made that evening went to the nonprofit Kitchen On The street. Great ambience, drinks were available at a reasonable price, and the table placement made it easy to see and hear no matter where you sat. During intermission, we learned about the nonprofit benefiting from this concert, and the musicians actually walked around and talked to people in the audience as well. There is also larger hall here for concerts. The music was great. If you enjoy Jazz music, this is the place to go! read more

This is a great venue. We visited a jazz performance and it felt like being in someone's home. I recommend without reservations.

First time at Ravenscroft Hall for a great concert. The theater holds about 250 people and the acoustics and lighting are exceptional. Large lobby area has plenty of seating. For the venue I attended, there were also dinner selections. The Ravenscroft is completing their second Jazz Season. Saw Diego Figueiredo and Stanley Jordan.Excellent concert with two Jazz Legends, what a treat. Free valet parking and friendly atmosphere. Nice to have another great Jazz venue in the Northeast Phoenix & Scottsdale Area. read more

Great vibe! Great entertainment! Great food! Need I say more! They also do a lot of good for the community in so many ways!

I first visited the Ravencroft May 2023, older crowd and very pleasant atmosphere, great music (Jazz). My last 2 visits it was side bar freak shows going on, this was from a younger crowd, bending over, raising their skirt/dress up, and the really gross part is the discussing gross hardcore kissing which is not appropriate for a classy establish as the Ravencroft. I hope my next visit is without the trailer trash side bar freak show. read more

Great place to hear jazz. This is a hidden gem in Scottsdale and always have world class jazz musicians.

Ravenscroft is a gem in North Scottsdale and I love that it's here! I am such a fan of jazz and always have been and I am always looking for places to find it live. When my husband found the Ravenscroft basically in our backyard- so to speak- and bought tickets a couple of months ago, I was so happy that it turned out to be so great! There is complimentary valet parking when you pull in, but a little side note, you may wait for a few moments after the show lets out for your car. We arrived early and enjoyed a glass of wine and it was standing room only .. you can not enjoy any , ANY, drinks at all, not even water, in the theater, so we had to take our wines down in about 15 minutes. We loved the idea of the side lounge , Jazzbird, that has music and apparently drinks too some nights, and we will definitely be back for that! We had seats basically right in front of the stage for the Larry Fuller Trio and it was a truly lively great jazz performance. The theater is beautiful and acoustics are great! read more

My wife brought me to Ravencroft for my 50th birthday to listen to Zazu West. The establishment was impeccable and very well kept. The meal was catered and well worth the price for 2 fresh made meals. Zazu West did a wonderful job of representing Gypsy Jazz. We enjoyed the entire first half of the show however during most of the second half of the show 2 employees stood in the back and had a conversation. We sat listening to jazz in one ear and a conversation in the other. I have been to many music venues and it is very off putting to experience employees of the venue acting in such an unprofessional manner. If you need to have a conversation you should find a place within the space where you are completely out of earshot. In this particular case they could have gone on the other side of the glass doors that were right there. read more

I've never been to Ravenscroft Jazzbird Lounge before and I doubt I will be back. The two photos show you my view...one of a TV screen and one of an elevator. I thought I was coming to SEE live music, but my view is not of the stage. I did not come to watch TV. I've seen Alice Tatum many times and came for her. My other issue is that the venue's employees are seated with a better view than my group has. They've just finished their catered dinner and are now enjoying the show that I am watching on what the venue calls the media wall! My suggestion is to reconfigure your seating so that everyone can see the stage. If that means reducing the number of tables, then charge more per seat so that your revenue will not suffer. My next suggestion is to turn out the spot lights over the tables. They are much too bright for the room. The overhead ambient lamps are very nice and much more conducive to Jazz. We did not have dinner before the show so cannot comment on the food. read more

This is a really nice venue. And the night we went. The music was fantastic. It's very modern and lovely. The cover charge is minimal in the food and drinks are very fairly priced. Music good - Venue off key! Had table H in lounge, so we could see and hear well, but most of the tables in the lounge were worthless for seeing/hearing live jazz. Configuration makes no sense. Must have been an afterthought. - 10 employees up front when you walk in to sell you on stuff. Once you are seated. *crickets*! - Checked the website day of to make sure we could eat there. It listed salad, charcuterie, salmon, cornish hen, etc. We arrived at 635p for a 7p show and there was 1 salad, 1 leg of a cornish hen left over and a pile of white rice. NO Food! They made food in residential sized pans as if they were having a small dinner party of 6-8 people in their home. It was a joke! At about 655p I asked the bartender if there was anything to buy, a pretzel, nuts, chips, anything? She said no, but over there they have beautiful charcuterie, salmon, cornish hen, etc... I told her, no they don't and they haven't had any of those things since 635p, if they ever had enough for more than 8 ppl. THEN the MC gets up to announce the start of the show and again starts touting all the great food there is to get before the show starts. Unbelievable. - The employees used the time while the musicians were playing to catch up and chat at the end of the bar. It's bad enough when patrons talk during musical performances, but for employees to just view it as time to talk is clueless. - Like I said, lounge must have been an afterthought. The way it is promoted, and the way it really is, do not match up. **The overhead lighting was too bright for a jazz venue; an easy fix I would think. **Chairs and table were nice and comfortable! **Drink selections....wine and beer selections were ok. **There is no real real bartender, really just a server. Cocktails were canned, not of good quality. This is also an easy fix. Since they clearly don't want to have a real bar and bar service in there, they could at least get high-end pre-made cocktails like 'On the Rocks' instead of canned Reeds Moscow Mules. *ICK!* - The act we paid to see fell ill and was replaced with some local people. They did a great job Steven Powell...could listen to him 24/7, Beth Lederman's musicianship was great as well. The drummer they drummed up was obviously the weakest link, but worked hard to hold his own. They were thrown together and threw together an act to save the night from cancellation. They pulled it off musically because they are professionals and incredibly versed and practiced in their crafts. Here's my suggestion - No disclaimers! - It's just a pet peeve and I feel it degrades their professionalism to preface performances with - We've never played this together - or - We crammed to learn this music - or ... whatever it was they were saying. As a paying audience, we don't want to be told that we've paid for a make-shift, thrown together performance; nor is it necessary. They were great and they needed to just own it and do what they do! Plus, most people wouldn't know the difference if they weren't great and then a disclaimer will just make it worse. - All in all, we of course made the most of it, hungry as we were, and had a great time. We had bought a table and invited another couple as our guests and said we would eat there. Needless to say, it was embarrassing there was no food for them/us. That was really the biggest issue! Such poor, poor planning! Do they not know that the lounge seats more than 10ppl. and that it was also sold out??!!??!! - Not sure I would go back. If so, would ONLY get a table in the front like we had, or closer, plan on drinking wine not cocktails, eat ahead of time. - The theatre looks very nice and I'd probably try a concert in there. You can not bring your drinks in there though. - I really think they need to rethink some of that, the layout, the bar offerings and let people know there really isn't any food and maybe offer some packaged nuts or something in case someone is desperate for a little sustenance. - In conclusion, and if you got this far, you're probably wondering if I was ever going to conclude.... LOL, Very unfortunate. Would be great, but if definitely off key. read more

This is a state of the art music facility with a a good mix of mysterious excitement and a relaxing mood. The director and employees loved speaking with us about the facility and the piano brand while giving us an impromptu private tour on a Friday jazz night. The performers were skilled and sociable, mixing up the music styles and tempos as they gave very personal life stories, and had a brief intermission so that not one second was missed. Refreshments are also available. High quality local entertainment! read more
