Crispy Chicken Breast
Shawn A.

Great food and service at a reasonable price point. Really enjoyed our dinner here on Father's Day. We started out with spinach and artichoke dip which was decent but not anything special. For entrees we got the prime rib and crispy chicken breast. We both really enjoyed our entrees. The prime rib was the perfect temp and 12oz was plenty of meat. We finished with a banana split which was great. Would definitely come back here next time I'm downtown.

We had dinner at The Arrogant Butcher and overall it was a really solid experience. From the moment we sat down, the service stood out--our servers were friendly, attentive, and consistently checked in without being overbearing, which made the meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. The menu has a nice variety, and we each ended up trying something different. The sandwiches come with one side, and I decided to upgrade to the mac and cheese for an extra $3--and that was absolutely the right call. It was creamy, rich, and full of flavor--honestly the highlight of my meal. I ordered the French Dip, which had great flavor overall, though it was a bit more well-done than I personally prefer since I usually like mine closer to rare. Still, the bread was good, the au jus added nice depth, and it was an enjoyable dish. One thing that stands out for me is the salt and pepper mill on our table. I love freshly ground black pepper. My husband ordered the Kobe burger, and that was a definite win--juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. He really loved it. My daughter went with the steak, which she said was good, but it didn't quite stand out compared to some of the other dishes we tried. Overall, it was a good meal with a mix of standout items and a few that didn't quite wow us. The excellent service and comfortable atmosphere definitely added to the experience, and we'd come back again--especially knowing what to order next time

Crispy Shrimp

Came here for a friend's birthday. The staff was attentive and friendly, and they validated my parking (only at CityScape parking garages). Slightly dimmed lights, but a fine overall vibe, not too fancy, not too casual. We enjoyed the meatballs and crispy shrimp as appetizers. My friend did not love their filet mignon, but it was okay. The Steak Salad was a clear winner for the table. I enjoyed my Pacific Sea Bass, the flavor and cook was great, and the veggies were flavorful and tasty too.

Went to The Arrogant Butcher and overall had a really nice experience. The crispy rice tuna was honestly perfection, definitely one of the best things we ordered. The meatballs were really yummy too, but I do wish there had been a little more sauce with them. I got the steak and it was cooked to the correct temperature, but it was a bit tough and chewy, which was a little disappointing. The sea bass on the other hand was perfection and probably my favorite dish of the night. The service was amazing and the staff were always really thoughtful and attentive. The ambience was fun and felt elevated but still casual, which made it a great place to relax and enjoy dinner.

Prime Rib French Dip*

Impressed with everything. Our server Cameron was awesome, food was clutch (solid menu), great cocktails, & amazing deserts. French dip didn't disappoint-- lotta cheese (which I like) but make sure to ask light if you don't want it fully immersed in delicious cheese. Kobe burger really solid, crispy bacon & Mac & cheese side worth the upgrade. Meatballs were amazing, could eat 2 orders myself! And dessert was awesome, would go again anytime! And they gave us some nice note & champagne to celebrate our anniversary-- first class move!!

Seasonal Sangria & Fairway Margarita!

Went on a whim without reservations, and got to sit at the chef's counter! Our server was so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable! So was the super welcoming manager! The layout is simply gorgeous. Their seasonal sangria and fairway margarita are strong but so refreshing and easy to drink! That Crispy Chicken Breast is hands down the best chicken dish that I've ever had anywhere. In fact, I'm still dreaming about it. Can't wait to go back to try more of their menu the next time I'm town! I've heard amazing things about their happy hour! Highly recommend!

The best Mojito I've had in a long time. Not to sweet! It was absolutely perfect

We went and tried the banana split which is new on the menu!! It is outstanding!! Michael our server was also fantastic! It was 1:00 on a Friday and it wasn't busy but it wasn't slow. The temperature inside was perfect! I can't recommend this restaurant enough. If you do anything go now and get the banana split.

I recently moved to Arizona and have been exploring different restaurants. Last night, I visited The Arrogant Butcher in Downtown Phoenix to celebrate a friend's birthday with another friend who was visiting from Texas. This was my first time here. First, let me say that this place is fabulous! Their menu has a lot of variety and their food does not have MSG (mono sodium glutamate), which is crucial for those highly allergic to it (one of my friends is). That said, our waitress that we had was absolutely sweet, socially engaging, and delivered exceptional service. She welcomed all of us, explained the menu, and made sure to acknowledge the little but important things during our dining. One of my friends ordered steak and asparagus = sublime. I ordered chicken egg rolls, again, a delicious appetizer, and my other friend ordered fish chips with a side. My overall dining experience was wonderful, the ambiance is great, very social and chill environment but can also be intimate. I highly recommend this restaurant. I personally will be back again. I also gave my waitress a much deserved larger tip.

A small group of us came for dinner before attending a concert at the AZ Financial Theatre. I had made a reservation several days prior and when we arrived we were immediately seated. There was a line building of patrons wanting to eat so we were glad we had the reservation. Friendly greeting upon arrival and when we were seated our server came over immediately to introduce herself and let us know she would be right back. We had time to review the drink and food menu; Jen was server and came for drink orders first. Wife ordered the Kiwi Water Margarita and I had water. Others also ordered drinks and when delivered, everyone said their drinks were perfect. Wife loved her margarita and was happy that they were able to accommodate her request for a sugar rim. Once drinks were delivered, Jen was quick to come back and take dinner orders. I ordered the fish & chips and wife ordered the crispy chicken. One of our friends ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Dip for the table and it came out warm and gooey. Everyone loved it!!! The fish & chips were fantastic...lightly battered rock fish which was tender and tasty. Loved the tarter sauce and actually ordered an extra one so my fries could be dipped. Came with slaw, which was creamy and savory...not sweet like sometimes it can be. I had asked for crispy fries and they delivered on that! Great dish and so happy! Wife had the crispy chicken which came with a filling of crab and green beans with a Calabrian Chile sauce which she said was tasty and not spicy at all. She loved it! The lemon caper butter was just the right touch and I would ask for some for the fish & chips as well because that combo would be so good! We ended our meal with the Old Fashion Cobbler (sorry no picture because everyone dived into it before I could photo it!)...wow that was pure pleasure! Full of spiced apples that were sliced and in a good slightly thick sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream. Great way to end the meal. Overall, it was busy...a tad loud...but Jen was great, on top of things and we would definitely come again when in downtown.

Shrimp, Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya
Jenna P.

I did a lot of research (on Yelp, of course) before choosing The Arrogant Butcher for a celebratory dinner while visiting Arizona, so my expectations were high. We started off with old fashioneds, and unfortunately, that set the tone for the night. We specifically asked for them to be made at half sweetness, but they came out incredibly sweet... more like 150%. When we mentioned it, our server (who was otherwise very sweet and attentive) asked if we wanted to order a shot to pour in and balance it out... but it wasn't complimentary. We weren't going to pay extra to fix a drink that wasn't made how we requested, so that part left a bad impression. On a brighter note, the tuna tataki appetizer was fantastic. This was easily the standout of the evening. Beautifully balanced flavors and textures that made me wish the same creativity carried into the entrées. The sea bass was cooked perfectly. It es flaky, buttery, and tender... but had almost no flavor. The vegetables underneath were tasty but minimal. The jambalaya packed plenty of heat but lacked depth. The farmer's market bowl was fresh, colorful, and overall one of the stronger dishes (though a little more chimichurri would have tied it together nicely). The boneless pork chop was flavorful and well-cooked. This was definitely the most satisfying entrée. Overall, it was a "meh" experience. A few dishes really shined, and our server was kind, but between the overly sweet drinks and uneven flavors, I left feeling like the meal didn't quite live up to the price point.

Prime Rib
Mckenzie O.

Came here during restaurant week, my favorite time of the year in Phoenix! Got the oysters and the Butchers Platter to share for the table, the Oysters did have a little shell in them. Went with the Cesar salad, prime rib, and cheesecake for my 3- course meal. Our server was attentive and helped walk us through the menu as this was our first time here. Great location downtown right across the basketball arena where the Phoenix Mercury and Suns play and only a block away from Chase field. You can park in the garage attached to the building, either get a ticket at the entrance or if there's an event going on tell the attendant you're dining at the restaurant and they will give you one and your server will validate your parking for up to 2-hours.

Ameena A.

I got this food to go... and I was shocked at how delicious it was, even to-go!! I'm gluten free - so I got the baked chicken with a side of mashed potatoes (photo attached). So freaking good. Though I was only inside briefly, the inside/ambiance of the restaurant was very stylish and modern - it seems like a cool place to dine in. And the server who got my order was quick and friendly! I'd definitely check this place out! :)

Is there any private rooms available for reservations?

Yes, I believe they have several private dining options or private spaces for groups. Check their website for details.

Yes, Happy Hour is limited to the Bar area.

Is anything on the menu made for vegans?

Absolutely!

Is there any free parking near the place on weekend? I know of the parking lot in COM, the street parking near Biosciences high school, but those are kind of far

The restaurant validates parking in the garage attached - 2 hours I believe.

We all had a great time and shared laughs and everything. I love the setting of it though. It's a bit dark so we had to use phone lights to see the menu. But it feels like stepping into a whole new world once you enter. I think it's perfect for hanging out. Date night. Anniversary dinner. All of it. Our server was nice. Very friendly. I think he could use a little more on his hospitality just because sometimes I feel like he didn't know what to say exactly. A little disappointed that there wasn't really anything special for a birthday though. Not even a little card on the table that said happy birthday. Just a thought. He then confirmed we were still within the happy hour window and offered to bring us a menu. They used to have an extensive happy hour menu featuring several drinks and food items and now their "happy hour menu" consists of a cheeseburger for $22. Not sure that that really constitutes as a happy hour menu... I asked him why they changed the menu and he put up his hands as if to say he's not to blame and said he doesn't have anything to do with those decisions. He said that "management decided to make a few substitutions but they're pretty good" and didn't provide any further elaboration. I ordered the appetizer lamb lollipops which had four small pieces for $25. My friend decided to try the "happy hour" cheeseburger and he said it was good but it did appear a bit overpriced for an average burger with a pretty hefty serving of french fries. It felt like a place that may be a bit of a victim of its own success--popularity has grown, but delivery hasn't fully kept pace. Part of the appeal here is the permanent taco truck outside, which I know from past visits is excellent, and I love the truck's outspoken, unapologetic support for immigrants. That said, the cocktail itself was excellent. I was specifically looking for a coffee-based drink before heading to another event, and the Cambures al Estilo Foster delivered on flavor. It was tiny, though--served in a small stemmed glass, gone in a few sips. It did the job, but some may find the portion underwhelming for the price. No major complaints, but nothing pulling me back either. I'm adding a fourth star on a bit of a hunch--I'd like to think they can dial it back in if I return.

There is paid parking nearby,…read morebut it definitely is better to come a little earlier to scope out the parking situation and get that sorted before your reservation. My party and I had a reservation on a Saturday night at 9pm (when it's 13 people, what can you do). What kind of sucked though (and mainly why I'm deducting a star) is that we did wait an additional half hour to be seated after our reservation time. Our theory is that they didn't think the entire party would actually arrive, and they were not ready to accommodate us. To be fair, the restaurant IS on the smaller side, but there was 0 communication during that half hour on what was going on... which isn't really good for us either. We got the original set, and this somewhat confused me as well. The food was really good, and was definitely a restaurant that I'd go to for the experience, but for some reason some of the meats were doubled while others weren't. The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.

I wouldn't say we had the best experience. The food was pretty decent, but they brought my friends…read morefood out and then mine. Mine was wrong so it had to be sent back and the chicken had to be added to my salad-which took like 20 minutes. Our entire experience create us to be an hour late to the concert next-door. The bartender was kind and was interested in making sure we had the beverage of choice.

We were very comfortably dressed, and no one looked sideways at us, but there were definitely people dressed to the nines! There was a party of women next to us, that were celebrating a birthday. We obliged them by taking their pictures all over the instagramable bar. Ryan was our waiter, and he is tops. Made some really good recommendations and was welcoming and attentive. I was just there for the drinks and enjoyed a lovely glass (or two) of wine, but my friends were feeling more adventurous and ordered some of their inventive cocktails. Including a couple of "Shot in the Dark" which could be ANYTHING. Also a burger was ordered and then brought up repeatedly for the next two days. According to him, it was possibly the best burger he had ever had. His face lit up at first bite. The menu is a mishmash of interesting options and the whole experience was not what we anticipated. In the best way.
