Driving through Phoenix (from LA) on our way to a hike in the middle of the night, so we used Yelp to find us a 24-hr diner and this location seemed to be the only show in town at 4am, so we set the GPS and arrived shortly afterwards. Despite it being 4am and they were empty, the staff were all busy working and cleaning and the spotless restaurant was a result of their hard work. We were greeted warmly, seated and served quickly, and we enjoyed our warm, tasty breakfast that would fuel us through the rest of our drive and thru our grueling hike.

Cute diner great food. Was close to where I was staying so had breakfast and dinner there 3 times. Everything was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful

It was late night and I was in the mood for a good burger, I did not want to stop a normal fast food restaurant so I did some searching and found this diner. I ordered the green chili burger with a side of onion rings, I was definitely satisfied. Services was fast and very friendly, definitely made me feel as if I stepped back in time to an old diner, the music, step up and atmosphere was def giving.

Stopped in for breakfast with a friend. Service was good, it's a cute diner and the portions are pretty big. I'll most likely be back to try their lunch menu. The chicken fried steak was ok, but the pancakes were very good!!

A friend told me I had to try their bread pudding and I took my family and had it with ice cream and caramel just may be the best bread pudding in the Southwest and the service was great!

Great service, good food & plenty of seating with dog friendly patio. Homestyle cooking with old school diner vibe. Nostalgic & quaint 50's diner.

Why the rewriting of my previous review you might be asking? Ashlee was amazing! Noticed my friend have a headache, so turned the music down. Loved her anticipating our needs and being very friendly from the start to finish of the meal. Sometimes with late night 11pm-1am type stop ins to places, you don't get the best food and/or service. But not at this 5 & Diner! Heck, she even offered drinks to go! Thanks for another stellar visit when visiting after a show at The Van Buren!

A good bet for some safe, filling comfort food. They have most everything you can think of to eat that a classic American diner would serve. Open 24/7, I bet the diner would be awesome after a late night out or as a hangover cure, as well as for some good simple lunch options. This is a 50's style diner with hula hoops available on the dog-friendly patio and juke boxes at most booths. There's a long bar with swivel chairs facing the mirrored wall with fun, 50's style murals painted along the wall and a specials menu board displayed. Exterior looks like a huge silver Airstream with colorful lettering advertising menu specials & classics. Service is very friendly and attentive. This is a casual and friendly spot. We ordered: - Diner Wings with ranch and blue cheese (nice big bowls of dipping sauce, wings a little dry but ok) - Guacamole Burger with Fries (very delicious and juicy according to Hubs. Our server mentioned they have won awards here for their burgers) - Patty Melt with Fries & Ranch (bread and meat a little on dry side and melt could use more flavor but solid, filling choice) - Cali Benedict & Hashbrowns (perfect Hashbrowns and delicious, moist and flavorful eggs according to my daughter) - Coffee (strong and decent, not like some of the watery stuff and some diners) cream and sugar options at the table - Cherry Coke (yay! My fave and a diner necessity) - Sourdough French Toast with whipped cream and blueberry for the table (nice but a little dry for me. Maybe we should get butter also next time. A butterscotch or berry syrup would be a good addition too) - Apple Pie a la Mode - Apple Crumble (Housemade! Yummm! Look at the big scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was so good) - Root Beer Float (comes with an extra cup of root beer to pour into float as needed) There is a men's and women's restroom available for customers inside. A huge private parking lot is available with lots of parking options surrounding this diner.

Five and Diner. I will confess right here, right now that the family and I have dined here more than forty years. We keep returning. Now mostly on oil change days at the local car dealers. We are dwindling as our septuagenerians and centenarians depart. November 26, 2024 We branched on a veggie omelet, hash browns, a fruit bowl, coffee and orange juice, accompanied by Elvis, Otis Redding, the Supremes, etc from the juke box. The hash browns alone were enough to keep me coming back 40 more years. Brown and crispy - a hash brown model. The omelettw was chock full of veggies, oh and coffee just fine. Our server Kevin was attentive, keeping the coffee flowing. He concluded our meal with a16% senior discount, covering taxes. Thank you Kevin.

Ruben with Fried Pickles and banana milkshake

Not feeling too hot came in today for some soup. Never been. Italian wedding soup was quite lovely, nothing extraordinary but definitely got what I came for. Really like the aesthetic of this place and being open 24hrs has the full Diner feel to it. My girlfriend was pleasantly surprised with her meal. Ruben with a side of fried pickles and a banana carmel milkshake. Ruben was good but not great, "pastrami needs some work", fried pickles were very good and had good light breading. Milkshake was the star of the show with having real chunks of banana in it. Even give you the extra bit of milkshake in the tin cup Service was very good and waiter was very kind. Lovely establishment

Ate the Garlic Mushroom burger so quickly, that I missed the photo. Sorry. But it was tasty! Nice to have the option to trade fries for a small salad. The chocolate cherry shake was probably too much for the meal size, but yea, I went there and not sorry. And a nice surprise with bits of cherries in the bottom as well. Love the 50's motif. Always fun. The indoor seating is limited but there are quite a number of tables outside as well. Come on it for some friendly service and solid food options. My first time here was a nice one.

We ended up have a long night and needed something to eat when everywhere else was closed.
    Stephanie F.

The food, for the late hours it's totally the place to be. Since the dining room is open. The ambiance is like stepping into a Time Machine, so cool! Service, definitely made this experience a 10!! S/O to Billie.

We arrived just in time for lunch and saw some good things about the burger here so decided to give it a go. Everyone working here was so kind and you can tell they are all like family, which was so sweet, I love mom and pop shop's like this. The burger was simple and delicious, it was very retro, i had the classic cheeseburger and then my guy went for a gluten free option, which were toasted pieces of gluten free bread instead of a bun. The carrot raisin salad was a fun side to order! almost reminded me of coleslaw without the cabbage, it was sweet and yummy. Made me think of all the fun ambrosia-like salads people used to eat all of the time. The soda float we had was definitely the star of the show. I can't remember the exact name of the drink but it was cucumber and melon soda with vanilla ice cream, it was so unique and refreshing and the perfect combination of flavors. I want to try every soda float there now! Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Phoenix. It's places like this that make the world go round.

There is a real sense of community there and a place that deserves to be visited. In a world of bland, homogenized, cookie cutter homes and buildings and corporations telling us what we want, it is good to go somewhere that sparks imagination (all those flavors), creativity and a sense of nostalgia. Kudos!

I'd been meaning to try this location after seeing a few of my fellow Yelper friends review this place. Just like they said, this place did not disappoint! Seasoned well and cooked perfectly to order for both the over easy eggs and medium rare steak. Breakfast perfection! - Patty Melt: My boyfriend said it was delicious, and the small bite I tried was great. You can tell they season their burger patties. There were six of us, and we were quoted a 45-minute wait, which seemed reasonable at first. However, their system for managing waits is honestly pretty frustrating. There are no reservations, no text notifications, and no call when your table is ready. You're basically left hovering and guessing. We did make it back in time for our table, but a simple "hey, your table's ready" system would go a long way in making guests feel valued. We were seated around 8 PM after waiting and taken to a large corner booth in the back. Unfortunately, there were still two people from the previous party lingering at the table even after they had paid and the rest of their group had already left. I understand finishing drinks, but it felt inconsiderate given how busy the restaurant was and how long people were waiting. After being seated, it took about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table, and even then, not everyone in our group was acknowledged right away. Things didn't improve much from there. It took over 30 minutes just to place our food order. From what we could tell, there was only one server handling the entire restaurant. I can definitely empathize with how difficult that must be, but at the same time, when we first arrived, she appeared to be standing near the entrance rather than actively managing tables, which added to the confusion. When the food finally came out, it was very staggered instead of arriving together. I ordered the Taos tenderloin with green beans and fries. The sides were actually great--probably the highlight of the meal--but the steak itself was disappointing. I ordered it medium, but it came out with an overly charred, almost burnt crust that completely overpowered the flavor. The whole dish really needed basic seasoning like salt and pepper to bring it together. The atmosphere also didn't do much to help the experience. It's extremely dark inside--so much so that it's hard to see your food--and the space feels cramped. The layout is also pretty strange and honestly a bit off-putting. There's what appears to be a kitchen area right behind the bar, and then a full kitchen in the back--but what really stood out was the lack of separation near the restroom area. There's no proper door between the kitchen and the bathroom space, and from a small step down off the dining area, you can basically see straight into the kitchen if you wanted to. It just didn't feel very private or well thought out. Another thing that stood out was the portion sizes. While some people might see that as a positive, they were honestly too large--especially for those of us traveling who couldn't take leftovers with us. Slightly smaller portions might not only reduce waste but also help the kitchen keep up with demand and improve overall service speed. Overall, this ended up being more of a one-time experience than a place we'd return to. Between the disorganized wait system, slow and inconsistent service, and underwhelming food, it just didn't live up to the expectations we had going in.
