Please come super hungry because you will leave Joe's Diner absolutely full. Our server (I think her name is Amanda as printed on the receipt) was so good. Her way of recommending food is irresistible. We came thinking about omelette with toast but end up having honey mustard fried chicken sandwich and pancakes. And her recommendation did not disappoint. It was so yummy and we found ourselves struggling to stop even when we were full! Well 2 years later they did include butter on my pancakes. The original buttermilk is the best choice and these were hot, fresh and rank highly on the list. Smuggle your own maple syrup in if possible. Places that can't give you real syrup will never get 5 - stars. Ths syrup helps make the pancakes shine. read more

We stopped in for breakfast after a doctor's appointment, hoping for some good, filling good, and we were not disappointed! Kristina was friendly and took our order quickly. The coffee was hot and tasty and came out quick. Hubby had the biscuits with chorizo gravy, which were delicious! I ordered the green chili pork bowl. What came out was definitely not green, but a red chili pork. However! It was absolutely fantastic, piping hot with tender chunks of pork and nicely scrambled eggs. The potatoes underneath were cooked to the perfect consistency and nicely seasoned. We were in and out in about 30 minutes, with a box of leftovers to go. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and get some more of that chorizo gravy! read more

This little gem is hiding in the Pierson Place Historic District is a must visit for those who enjoys a relaxing and delicious breakfast. I have been in many countries and tried a diversity of local dishes, and this place just went to the top of my list for breakfast in Phoenix area. I had the chicken fried steak with pancakes. I'm not sure how we learned about Joe's Diner, but I'm sure glad we did! We visited for the first time on Sunday and I can already see Joe's in our regular breakfast rotation. I ordered The Border omelette, substitute bacon, which was filled with southwestern flair and plenty of cheese! It was accompanied by a pancake and breakfast potatoes. I feel like a lot of restaurants overlook the importance of a good breakfast potato--not the case here at Joe's. Those were by far some of the best breakfast potatoes I have had. The pancake was amazing as well, especially topped with their homemade jam. Our server was a delight and was happy to answer any questions that we had about the menu. I loved how all of the staff was wearing tie dye shirts--super fun and happy ambiance. We are already looking forward to our next visit! read more

Friends, First time here. Sunday morning rush, waited only about 20 minutes. Makayla our server was super sweet and made great recommendation, was very attentive during the entire dining experience. The food came out, a few errors. Waffle was su-par, not crisp on the outside. Some of our dishes were cold. My plate with over medium eggs came with eggs over-easy....super runny. I had ordered them over medium with no runny white. The dish was taken back to re-prepare. All my guest had already finished eating and my dish still had not come out, so I cancelled. The team was apologetic about the long wait to make on the fly, but, the service here was fast friendly. Food was what can be expected of breakfast food, not much wow factor. Great local breakfast place in Melrose. The food was pretty good and the service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and took care of some substitutions we needed due to food allergies. The restaurant has a cozy, home vibe and the dishes feel very homemade. We tried the Border omelette and they were nice to substitute turkey instead of Ham. Their croissant turkey club was also pretty good and I liked the seasoned fries a lot. The pancake was a little doughy, but it wasn't bad once we tried it with syrup. Overall not a ball place for some good breakfast. We also took a cinnamon roll to go and look forward to trying it later! The place is a little older and doesn't feel modern but it just adds to the charm of this location. Definitely prefer this place to other breakfast places in this street. We got some more simple dishes to get a good sense of the quality of food: Plain omelette add cheese (we did pepper jack) - very good and moist. It's surprising how often a simple dish can be ruined. Blueberry lemon curd pancakes - absolutely phenomenal. The pancakes are great without the curd and even more elevated with it. Highly recommend. Biscuit and gravy - jaw dropping delicious. If you love diner food then this is the place for you. I got the classic breakfast with eggs, bacon. Potatoes and they are known for their pancakes so I got that as well. The pancakes was nothing special to me. Tasted like one you make at home. Not bad just nothing special so big flavor. The potatoes were good but very salty ( I like salt but this was a bit much) bacon was also very salty but you do get a lot with your order. Eggs had no seasoning so at least it wasn't salty. I don't think I will try this place again but I can see how it's a go to breakfast: lunch spot for people. I think it's over priced but I also know food is expensive these days. The BEST French toast in the world (I don't say that lightly, I've eaten it all over the world). The outside is crisp and the inside is soft, buttery and delicious! My husband loves their pancakes. After some disappointing experiences with big chain restaurants, we decided to start exploring small, local spots--and we're so glad we found Joe's Diner. From the moment we stepped inside, it reminded me of something out of an old TV show called ALICE (yes, I'm showing my age--but this restaurant didn't have a sassy waitress named Flo saying "Kiss my grits"). The atmosphere was so warm and inviting, it felt like home. The waitress was very happy and welcoming. The waitress was fantastic--super friendly and chatty, and it seemed like everyone in the restaurant was engaged in a happy, laid-back conversation talking to customers across the floor and the workers . It was such a refreshing change from the typical impersonal vibe of chains. This is like Mel's Dinner in the sitcom ALICE; a happy spotless clean dinner. Now, let's talk about the food. We ordered the cinnamon French toast and the classic egg breakfast--and wow, both were incredible. The French toast was perfectly spiced, and the eggs were cooked to perfection: nice and fluffy, just the way they should be. It was all served with crispy bacon and savory sausage patties. The portion sizes were great, and everything was super fresh. Prices are reasonable, but honestly, the food, service, and atmosphere make it worth every penny. After a few less-than-impressive meals recently, Joe's Diner really stands out as a gem. There's a lot of fancy expensive "brunch" places in town with $18 avocado toast and boozy orange juice, but there's only one Joe's Diner. Joe's Diner feels like it belongs in Prescott or some smaller Arizona town. You've got waitresses that call you honey and refillable drip coffee, massive platters of biscuits and gravy, and probably a whole ton of calories. If I ate here daily I would weigh 200 pounds. It's a true American diner experience, and those are shockingly hard to find in Phoenix. I absolutely love this place, and I haven't had anything bad on the menu. The wait time can creep up a bit so plan ahead; it's definitely not a run-in-and-run-out type of atmosphere, but it's also not typically the 2 hour waits you can see at other Sunday brunch places around the Valley. Loved coming to Joe's until Mikaka? served me with a disgusting filthy cup after being a frequent customer for years. What's weird is that she either noticed it and was too lazy to change it and noticed it and served it to me anyway. What's even more strange is that when she set the mug down on the table, the lipstick stain was facing her so I'm not quite sure how a pink stain on a solid cream colored ceramic mug isn't noticeable especially if she has been in the service industry for so long. She has been our waitress since we have been customers there and one would think being a frequent customer, she would be a little more attentive but no, she could care less as she provides the least amount of service as possible. The food is great but if the service is subpar, there's no reason why I should spend my hardearned money there. Mind you, all the other wait staff is great, especially Katie! We were in the area and wanted to give Joe's a shot. When we drove through the parking lot, we were convinced we'd have to wait for a table. The lot was booked and we ended up parking on the side of the street next to Joe's. But I guess everyone drove separately. There were a few empty tables. I had the pancakes and my spouse had the "2's", 2 eggs, 2 biscuits, 2 sausage patties and 2 slices of bacon. My pancakes were delicious. Light, fluffy and nicely golden. I had the bacon too. Came to Phoenix to watch a spring training game, and chose Joe's for breakfast more or less arbitrarily. It was a terrific choice. I had the "cowboy benedict," a house-made biscuit with 2 sausage patties and fluffy scrambled eggs on top, covered with a creamy chorizo gravy, and it was delicious. Service was excellent, thanks to the very personable server -- whose name I didn't get, unfortunately. Not a bad breakfast. Been hearing about this place for years and finally decided to eat here. Very much a diner from the look and atmosphere, which is not a bad thing. You seat yourself. We got here early so it wasn't too busy. Huge menu with a ton of great options. Ordered the two eggs, bacon and biscuit. Food came out super fast and was very good. A bit pricey for what I got but everything is expensive these days. Will come back again, just not sure it is my new go to for breakfast... maybe the next time will change that. read more
