Freshly fried chicken that's really good--very juicy and flavorful. It's a bit on the saltier side, but perfect for my taste. The collard greens were decent, just average. The brewed sweet iced tea was good as well. The service was welcoming and quick. the place is spacious and organized, kind of like a diner but serving fried chicken. I also love the music they play.

I LOVE this location! A coworker took me for a Belated Birthday lunch, as she knows this is one of my fave spots. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes and tried the Hush Puppies....soooo good. If you didn't know, everything is cooked fresh when ordered. The chicken is always cooked perfectly...crisp on the outside and juicy on then inside. The Fried Okra literally stayed hot the entire meal. Our server was great and it's always nice and clean. Definitely a place to check out.

The food was delicious. This gave us a taste of the South while on our trip to Arizona.

Needed a quick bite after my flight at around 2:00ish. Ordered online and walked from the hotel- the online thing said it would be about 15 minutes but I ended up waiting about 20-25 minutes. I had asked for utensils, but they weren't included so eating the Mac and cheese was a bit hard since my hotel didn't have silverware easily accessible. I got the chicken sandwich combo which came out to a little over $15. It was a large sandwich but very small mac and cheese side. The chicken was alright but I wish there was more flavor and it was less stringy. Wasn't impressed and wouldn't try the sandwich again- but possibly a different menu item? They had plenty of indoor seating at 2:00-2:30. Kind of an industrial vibe inside. They have a parking lot you can park in.

A top go to for fried chicken! I love how juicy and crispy their chicken is! It is southern style so think of that cayenne flavoring to give it a slight kick. Casual dine in or takeout place for lunch for dinner. Highly recommend their 1/2 chicken plate, sandwich, and corn nuggets! Their service is always friendly and kind!

We love Gus's! My favorite thing is the chicken sandwich. My date got an all leg plate hahaha I don't think him and I are going to last long. But he did pay so I might go on another date with him.... I'll keep you updated. Def get the sweet potato pie. I haven't tried the other pies because in my mind the sweet potato pie is the only pie that I will ever love. The fries are super good and also the staff is super nice and friendly. 10/10 will return again!

Small restaurant surrounded by a little strip mall. Every table occupied as well as their seating looking into the kitchen. I was able to try them when they had a booth @ a festival and promised myself self to try their brick and mortar. Made to order, hand battered fried chicken. Not to be confused with Nashville hot Chicken, they serve southern spicy fried chicken & they make all of their southern sides in-house daily. It's been awhile since I have been to a place where I loved everything on my plate. But this is definitely one of them! I waited almost 20 minutes for my order to go but it was worth every second and every minute. The girl that took my order was very friendly. While waiting, I noticed all the servers being very attentive and friendly, checking in with their tables. The chicken was just enough spicy. The mac and cheese had some kind of orange seasoning on top and it was creamy, cheesy, just damn good. Potato salad, the right amount of mustard and soft but chunky, exactly how I like potato salad. They really know what they're doing here. And I will be returning very soon again!

I came into Gus's craving fried chicken but left a little disappointed. Mostly it's the prices. The food was ok, just ok. For the price, I was hoping for this menu and flavor to be a wow experience... sigh... disappointed.

Service was amazing. It was a very comfortable and clean environment. The store manager was friendly and spoke with us for a minute to see how we enjoyed our time there. The fried chicken was golden brown and crispy, well seasoned and very delicious. I was not a fan of the sides dishes. Mac n cheese was just OK and the greens mid, but those fried green tomatoes were my favorite. I will go back for the chicken and try something new..

Outing before the game with friends at Gus's. I ordered the catfish special that came with coleslaw and fries. Catfish was spicy and cooked right, had a great taste. Fries were good but coleslaw was just okay. Also ordered fried green tomatoes, they forgot about them. When we ate them was not that great like other location tried. Our waitress did provide great service and nice positive energy, forgot her name but we're there today around 12ish. Inside had a a lunch of lunch table style seating.

I love their chicken. The greens too. The service is bomb. The place is clean and bright.

Placed a pick up order and upon arriving to pick up the service was very prompt. As soon as you walked in, they ask what's your name and had your order ready to go. Very friendly staff. I ordered two piece of white meat and two piece, dark meat, one with a side of potato salad, and the other with beans and coleslaw. The chicken was soft and paired very well with the sides. It's a good portion size for one or can be shared.

Madelynn F.

I did the two piece dark plate. Came with a thigh and a leg. For a 50 cent fee, I upgraded my sides to macaroni and cheese and greens. Loved the texture and crunch of the chicken, but the chicken was salty. The greens would have been better with meat in them (when I ordered, I was told they had bacon bits in them. But the scoop I received did not have any meat in them). The sweet tea was delicious. I wanted to try the fried okra because of not many places here serve it. But I knew I wouldn't have wrong. The Staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Five stars for service

Even though my time here was brief, I had a nice time here. Service was great and food was delicious. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the dining room. I didn't have time for drinks, but I hear they have a nice selection of drinks in their bar and a great happy hour. The Macintosh is described as a neighborhood restaurant that serves modern American and Southern cuisine. It was once called Grassroots Kitchen & Tap before it got rebranded. They have a diverse menu with a lot of different choices. Shrimp and Grits, Barbecued Beef Ribs, a Chicken Salad and Po Boy Sandwiches are some of the standouts. I settled on the Rotisserie Chicken which came with a side of onion rings. I'm a big pesto fan and loved the buttermilk pesto for dipping. I had a nice time and look forward to a return visit. In addition to happy hour, The Macintosh has brunch on the weekends.

Pair that with some good tunes and a friendly staff, you're bound to spend the entire day there lol. Let's get to the food- Wings for the table- OK! Crispy, not saucy, just light and airy. It tasted slightly sweet with something else I can't place my finger on. French Toast with the grand mariner sauce- yes please and thank you! I did not taste the sauce, but the French toast tasted good. I had some egg whites and the chicken tenders with it. Not a fan of chicken tenders, but there's no substituting, so tenders it is. Mocktail with lemonade and ginger- I don't remember the name but that was quite refreshing. I would've opted for more ginger b/c I like it spicy , and it got the job done. My other homies had shrimp and grits, salmon croquettes. They enjoyed it. Shout out to our waiter Chance . Quite pleasant and had a great aura. He recommended some spots for us to see/explore and didn't rush us. I'd definitely return should I visit AZ again!

Popped in before a Suns game, an easy walk past Chase Field. It was good to get away from the usual pregame options. The place was clean and inviting, and had a little bit of a "back in time" feel without being dated. Quickly and pleasantly welcomed and seated. Then came the hard part, making choices. We had fried chicken and fried catfish, with sides of Mac and Cheese, macaroni salad (yep, Mac two ways), greens and mashed potatoes with gravy. All were great, obviously home made from longstanding recipes. Especially into the greens, which were bursting with flavor. The catfish was delish, and my wife called the fried chicken the best she ever had. Saved room for peach cobbler, which was served smoking hot. The perfect sweet end to the savory meal. Next time I'm all in on pork chops, which looked amazing. And we will come on a Sunday, the only day dressing is available as a side option. If you're looking for a meal that feels like a friend had you over for supper, go here! Thanks Mrs. White's family!

Tucked back in a small building, just off Southern Avenue, you'll find Southern Fried. It is a small little walk in store front, so plan ahead to order out. We went ahead and ordered online to make things simple and easy. As shown on their building and advertised they show they serve Jamaican food so I was pretty let down when I looked at the menu to discover they do not have any Jamaican food. Seeing pictures of previous Yelp reviews of jerk chicken and oxtail left me bummed. We ended up ordering the fried okra, fried mushrooms, the 2 fish and 5 shrimp combo, along with the fried catfish and fries. We took our food to go and headed home, just around the corner. Once opening the containers i instantly got excited about the mushrooms. Anyone that knows me knows i am mushroom obsessed. With a quick dip in the ranch that came with and popping one into my mouth.... Yummmm! The okra was a bit of a miss. It seems they were still a bit slimy. Moving along to our main courses, I was disappointed to find that our fish was packed on top of our fries and the fries were very limp, soggy and unseasoned. I think packing the takeout differently could easily eliminate this issue. The catfish and shrimp were seasoned to perfection. They both had a perfect blend of spice and a light and crispy batter. I would love to see Jamaican food on the menu, as the advertising is a bit deceptive. Overall I would definitely be willing to try them again and would love to give one of their burgers a taste test.
