This pace has been on my list to try, finally on a Tuesday night I might to get there. I met my big sis there. It was very quiet for awhile, then they pick up later. Offering authentic and freshly prepared Thai cuisine. It is a cozy, clean, and friendly atmosphere. Their About Us is on their wall showing the best rice from Thailand, soup, chicken, etc. We ordered a bunch a food and shared everything: 1. Half & Half - Steamed skinless dark and white meat chicken served with ginger garlic rice 2. Clucket - Thai seasoned bite size fried chicken 3. Chicken pot stickers - Fried dumplings filled with chicken 4. Steamed purple rice - As known as forbidden rice ( fiber content makes it more nutritious than many varieties of white rice) The staff member told us a little about the menu. I think she was the only person working, or maybe someone was in the back? Either way, the food was good and tasty with all the right seasonings plus cooked well. I need to come back to try the other items.
I have been wanting to check out Chick-A-Dee for a while and did not disappoint. We dined on a Tuesday night. It was pretty quiet. Go support this small business for them to continue staying in business. I loved the storyboard chicken mural detailed the sourcing of the fresh chicken. We tried the half and half with garlic rice, dumplings, purple rice, and clucket. The garlic and purple rice were so tasty. I can probably eat a few trays of the clucket nuggets with the thai sauce. It fried perfectly. The chicken portion size seems small for the high price. However, the sides were resonable to add with your meal. I am sure I'll return to try other items.
Glad I finally tried this place! We walked in and it was dead. I was nervous that the Yelp reviews were fake but the food was consistent with all the positive reviews! I got the classic chicken and it was super tender. My husband got the fried chicken and it was perfectly crispy outside and tender on the inside. Also bonus we got a free, sweet black tea without meal since we were there from 11-3pm which was awesome. The tea was actually very good. Highly recommend
Chick-A-Dee is something I crave for atleast weekly. My favorite dish here is the classic which is dark meat chicken skinless that has been seasoned to perfection with Thai spices. The rice here is amazing quality and flavor too tastes like ginger and very soft texture. The chicken stock is simmered for 48 hrs which is the stock used to cook the rice. My husband ordered the white meat and it was very tender as well. Order comes with a nice broth. Thai iced tea tastes perfect not too sweet and just the right ratio of cream. Service is quick she is very nice. The restaurant is located in this small plaza across Barrows which was not too difficult to find. Inside it is clean and well decorated. My only request is please come to the East Valley !!
I love chicken and rice. I could not decide so I went with the combo steamed chicken and fried chicken. I like steamed chicken more. The sauce is the best! We went early before dinner and this place was not busy (which is good for us). I guess/wish they would be busy for lunch. If I worked in downtown, I were going to stop by all the time.
Driven by this place a bunch of times. Decided to stop in and grab some takeaway. The service is typical counter service - cue up and order up. The menu is not large, but contains a good amount of options. The whole place revolves around chicken and rice. You can get the chicken steamed or fried. There are options for white or dark meat as well. The rice is either white or purple. I opted for 2 dishes - steamed chicken with rice and fried chicken with rice. We just ended up sharing so this gave us the best option to try the most items. The rice is very good - super flavorful. The chicken is also very good. i think I liked the steam chicken a bit more than the fried chicken. You get a choice of sauces to go with your dishes. We got sweet chili and traditional Thai. Both went really well with both types of chicken. I loved it and would definitely recommend Chick-a-Dee. N*joy..
Wow! Basically a hainan chicken! Super yummy! Growing up my mom would always make chicken rice and make a very similar sauce. chick a Dee is packed with flavor. Came on the weekend and the place was empty! I hope during the week they are busy because the food is so good! Very sweet Asian lady took my order and the food came out quickly. Order at the counter then find a seat and the food will be brought to your table. I wasn't expecting Thai tea and soup to come with the order. Pleasantly surprised. The Thai tea was very refreshing. I will def be back!

Today, as I head to my office, I couldn't resist stopping by for some of their delicious Chicken Soup. This soup is simply amazing, packed with hearty chicken flavor. If you're feeling under the weather, this Chicken Soup is a must-try! The tender chicken and flavorful broth really hit the spot and warm your soul. Don't miss out on their tasty Thai-style Chicken Rice too - it's absolutely delightful! The restaurant is run by two lovely Thai ladies who always greet you with a smile. Such a sweet touch!
Chick A Dee. Everyone loves a solid chicken and rice option, and this is it! The soup is decadent and chicken and rice tastes like home. 5 wings for 6 bucks is also a steal.
If I had to pick my favorite fast casual restaurant in Phoenix, Chick-a-Dee might be at the top. And there's no question that it's the only good, authentic chicken and rice spot in the Valley. I ordered the Half and Half to try both the dark and white meat, and was delighted that both were equally tender. Dipped in the Thai traditional sauce -- which tasted true to a classic khao man gai meal -- it was incredibly tasty! The soup was also light and flavorful, while the rice was perfectly seasoned. I was also pleasantly surprised that the Thai tea was fantastic too. While I'd prefer it just a touch less sweet, it had a solid amount of tea flavor and was a nice addition to the meal. If only I still lived in the area! This would absolutely be my go-to lunch spot.
The food here is so good!! This shop is located in midtown, right on Thomas Road across from St. Joe's Hospital. There's some parking available in the lot that's right in front of the store, and you can find seating indoors. I personally ordered the half-and-half, which has steamed dark and white chicken meat served with ginger garlic rice. I got my order promptly, and I knew it was going to be good when I opened up the package containing the chicken. I was given generous portions of chicken, and it was juicy and tender. It went very well with the rice and small containers of ginger garlic broth and thai traditional sauce. I literally did not stop eating until I felt full -- that's how you know the food is delicious! I'm definitely going to return in the future to order more of their chicken. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant!!
If you are looking for an interesting and outstanding dining experience than I highly recommend this restaurant. I did have this on my list for a while. I finally decided to give it a try and I will definitely be back! The concept is definitely different but every item I purchased was absolutely delicious. The food is also very filling the portions are great for the price point. I ordered the combo with sweet thai chili sauce. I did have a chance to try the thai original sauce and I do recommend that more than the sweet thai chili. Chicken was prepared perfectly and the rice goes so well with the chicken. Some of the items here look so simple but are elegant. The soup provided with the meal is so clean tasting and a really nice accompaniment to the meal. Wings and Culkets had a really nice seasoning that reminded me of many delicious thai foods. They were fried nicely and not oily or greasy at all. Thai tea is also very good. Customer service was excellent. I do regret I took so long to try this because it's definitely a gem of Phoenix!!
This place is so good! We loved the regular hainan chicken especially and the rice was perfect. We got the banana dessert which was great but the ratio of banana to icecream was quite large (so much icecream). Love this concept!

The ingredients are simple and healthy but pack a flavorful punch. The chicken is steamed to perfection, both juicy and tender. Especially delicious for not being roasted or fried. The rice was perfectly garlic-y and the broth was the cherry on top. Drinking the broth as you eat marries all the flavors together. Who knew something simple could taste so great. I've had a crazy day, and this was just what I needed. Cute place, and parking was easy. Ordered the "No Carbs" and a Thai Iced Tea. Even though I passed on carbs, it still hit like your traditional comfort food. Love the moist poached chicken and dipping broth. Would definitely come back and try more menu items! read more
A chicken rice shop in Arizona? Never thought I'd see the day! Let me start off by saying that khao mun gai is one of my top favorite comfort foods whenever I'm in Thailand. The best one I've ever had is sold by a local street vendor in Mae Sai, and I always have to make a stop there and get some whenever I visit. It's my top standard when it comes to chicken rice and nothing so far in other parts of Thailand or in Arizona have come close to that same taste. Ever since I've heard about this place, I've been wanting to go, and just recently had the chance to finally make the trip. After briefly glancing over the menu, we ordered two orders of the classic with traditional sauce (of course) to dine in, and one order of the combo to take home with us. The chicken was tender, not too dry or rubbery, and the traditional sauce was spectacular. The chicken to rice ratio was appropriate. The taste of the rice was correct, not too bland. The accompanying soup was okay, I would be fine without it. Overall, I've got to say their chicken rice is the closest tasting to my favorite vendor's chicken rice I've had so far in Arizona. The staff were friendly, and helpful. The store was adequate in size and had a quaint atmosphere with lots of natural lighting filtering in. I would say that this place is better for a fast casual lunch since it's around downtown. The food came out relatively quickly, but then again they weren't busy when we went around midday. read more

Chick-A-Dee is a small casual restaurant that offers Thai Style Comfort Street Food and is located in Phoenix close to Midtown. The main dig is the chicken and rice. You get steamed chicken (it comes out like poached) with rice, soup, and a dipping sauce. They offer a few variations of the plate and a vegan chicken, some sides, a fried banana, soft beverages and Thai beverages. It's very casual. You order at the counter, pay, seat yourself, and go back to the counter when your order is ready. We tried a variety of things and they had some August specials that we took advantage of. I really liked the half and half (white meat and dark meat) chicken and rice that comes with soup (clear chicken) and a sauce (I picked traditional sauce). The chicken was tender and moist just like a perfect poach. The rice was nice and freshly made and I thought the traditional sauce gave it all the flavors that it needed. The soup it really light and taste exactly the way good matzo ball broth is suppose to taste like. This goes really well with the sweet black Thai Tea. I think this combination is the very best thing to get here. We also shared the crispy chicken with the sweet black sauce. The crispy chicken was fried nice and seemed free of oil. It doesn't have any unusual flavors added. The black sweet sauce is very unusual to us and is too sweet for both of us. Potstickers were fried nicely. (Ok) The Cluckets (chicken nuggets) are NOT for children. They are very unique and tasty and Spicy! They are coated in a little sweet and heat. They offer nice healthy fresh food that is like a comforting hug. Everyone should try it. read more

I'm ecstatic that Phoenix finally has a Khao Mun Gai restaurant! Khao Mun Gai, or a Thai variation of Hainanese chicken rice, is comfort food for many but is surprisingly hard to come by in the US. I went in with a high expectation and Chick-A-Dee did not disappoint. I got a Combo, which comes with poached and fried chicken -- both were high quality and tender. The Thai traditional sauce was flavorful and outstanding. My favorite part was the ginger garlic rice, which was cooked with chicken stock. Food was authentically served in wrapping paper and a rubber band (one of the reviews complained about food not being put in a box but this is how it should be). Workers/owners were friendly and genuinely cared about what you thought. My only wish is that they offered two choices of sauce with the Combo. Most Thais eat poached chicken with the Thai traditional sauce and fried chicken with sweet chilli sauce. You can get another sauce on your own for $1 though. I've eaten Khao Mun Gai at dozens of places in and outside Thailand, and Chick-A-Dee is one of the best! read more

Woweee!!! This chicky is off the charts!!! Saw this promoted on IG and was intrigued. Stopped by during lunch hour. There were some tables busy but no one in line so I jumped right in with my order. Going straight for the nuggets (Cluckets) and the wings (Chick-a-wings). Everything is made fresh hot to order! Nothing is just sitting around waiting! Sat down and waited just enjoying their atmosphere. The women who took my order was very friendly. When my order was ready she brought it right out to me at the table. So I get back to work to eat and the smell of their seasoning is just amazing! A coworker popped up to ask what I was eating cause it smelled so good! First of the nuggets, omg, they're like, perfect! Nice big nuggets that are crispy with the perfect amount of seasoning! Nice white meat nuggets! If they had an endless bowl, I would eat them trying to find the end! Next, their wings, again with the seasoning!!! It's seriously soo good! These are some nice sized wings! (Seriously, can't beat their prices for these awesome wings!) I will definitely be back to try their chicken with the ginger rice. Come show this place some love! You won't be disappointed! read more

We ordered food from Chick-A-Dee the other night and it did not disappoint. The chicken was tender and moist, the rice was flavorful. The meal came with a chicken broth soup that didn't look like much but was surprisingly full of flavor. The sauces that came with the chicken were delicious. Why is this place so good? It seems so simple to have plain chicken and rice but it works! I got the half and half, half white meat and half dark meat, with purple rice. I also chose traditional Thai traditional and chili garlic sauces. The meat was juicy and flavorful. And both sauces wonderfully complemented the chicken and rice. The house soup was ok, but seemed superfluous. read more
Came by here from all the talk and around town that this place serves homey comfort food by the ways of high quality chicken. All 3 people in my party ordered the half dark meat, half white steamed chicken. I opted for the sweet black sauce while my pals ordered the traditional sauce (which I highly recommend over the sweet black). Overall, the chicken was indeed fresh and comforting when paired with the rice, light broth, and combined with the dipping sauce. I enjoyed the meal and thought everything was prepared well. The interior was clean and we dined comfortably. My only knock is that I felt the meal was worth what I paid though. 16$ for a modest amount of chicken and rice is hard pressed nowadays....I would definitely not come here frequently just because its steep for what it is. We did also try an order of the wings were was pretty darn good though. Though fried, it did not taste oily or greasy at all. And they were SEASONED. If you come during lunch hours, you get a free tea beverage. Overall, solid, good food, but you are paying on average of $15-20 for some chicken & rice, and depending on if you get a beverage. read more

Super yummy! My job catered lunch and I decided to choose ChickADee! Everyone wasn't too thrilled on such the short menu but when the food arrived... everyone was amazed how such simple chicken dishes tasted to decadent! Eco friendly packaging and everything was still so warm and fresh! Def going back :D read more

I'm a sucker for a single-dish restaurant that does one thing well, and Chick-A-Dee is that place for Thai khao man gai. A close relative of Hainanese chicken rice, it's delicious comfort food at its best -- while still being light enough that it's enjoyable in the sauna-like atmosphere of Bangkok or the oven-like atmosphere of Phoenix. Chick-A-Dee has several variations on the dish (white meat, dark meat, breaded and fried) and they're all tasty. We have sad, oversized, stringy chickens in the US, so I'd point you toward the dark or fried options, but even the white meat option here makes the best of the poultry available. There are no wrong choices on this menu. There's even vegan chicken for people who'd rather not eat chickens. You can round out your meal with Thai coffee, Thai tea, chicken dumplings, or Thai-flavored chicken nuggets, any of which will hit the spot. (The "clucket" nuggets are amazingly delicious junk food.) Cute spot, friendly owner, delicious food... don't miss it! read more
