With so many Thai choices in the Phoenix area, Thai E-San is definitely one of the best! This was my second time, and both times I've been there. They have been busy, even on a Monday night! Service is always spot on and super friendly! Last time I had one of my faves, the Drunken Noodles, and it did not disappoint! I decided to go with something this time outside of my usuals and went with the Papaya Salad and Lemongrass Soup. Thankfully, they do half portions of soup, so that was perfect! The soup was so delicious, and the broth was so tasty! For the Papaya Salad, I had that Bangkok style, which means it's topped with dried shrimp and peanuts! They all came with soup (forgot what it was called but it had mushrooms and was sweet n sour and oh so good), rice, and a roll. This was good good food! The egg rolls were the best my wife and I had ever had. The curry was good, though my only minor critique would be that the temperature was a bit much so that it took awhile to cool off before we could appreciate our masaman and pineapple/green curries full flavor. Every time I've been here, the experience is exceptional, the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food is incredible. Originally I would go to Chanpen and Glai Baan, but would recommend this place for quality, taste, and price. Pad Thai- 5/5: has the perfect balance of sweet and savory for the rice noodles. Pad see ew-5/5 - a stir fried noodle dish with your choice of meat cooked with soy sauce. Green curry- 4- the coconut sauce was a little watery to my liking, maybe some corn starch to thicken the sauce, but still flavorful Crispy chicken with spicy cream sauce- 3.5/5- this was like their version of orange chicken, good, but something I can pass to try another dish. I have a very picky eating teen and this is one of his favorite spots. I can almost always rely on him agreeing if I suggest Thai-E-San as the option for lunch or dinner. Kid loves the Thai iced tea here. Service is super friendly and kind, and the food comes out very quickly. They have all the usual suspects I expect at a Thai restaurant and they are very good. My only "miss" was the drunken noodles - they were great when hot, but got very mushy after I brought them home. Curries are especially good, and I highly recommend the Massaman. Takeout is good as well, though I think when you order online the prices are higher. So maybe just call in and order directly, or go there and wait for your takeout. read more

I gave 4 stars because the charge for soda water same price as a soda. I'm seen a few restaurants do this lately but normally they tell you. If I could go to Thai e-san every day I would! I cannot recommend this place enough. Every time I have a friend or family member visit, this is a necessary spot I have to take them. The workers are so kind and very personable. Rex has been my server multiple occasions and is so kind and funny. The food is always consistently good and never disappoints. I have tried the yellow curry, green curry, pad Thai, red curry, and the Pa naeg curry. All of them are delicious with very different flavors. The yellow curry is my favorite and a fan favorite among the many people I have brought here. Lunch takeout for three people was $75, a really steep lunch. We won't be back, when there are so many other Thai choices. Bland at spice level two, my spicy basil chicken dish was nearly $20 and truly didn't fill me upbafyet consuming it all. Portions are slight. Sauce was watery. Companion ordered a coconut soup and Pad Thai shrimp. The meals were ok, noodles were good texture and not overcooked. But again, very bland.
