We hadn't been to Thai E-San in a long time, and I had been craving their Angel Wings. They're not easy to make and require time and effort to get right, so not many Thai restaurants have them on their menu. We used to get them here, so I was really hoping they still had them. I even called ahead just to be sure. Yeah! The place looked about the same, just a bit brighter than I remembered. Of course, we ordered the Angel Wings, along with the E-San-style papaya salad, pineapple fried rice, stir-fried eggplant with chicken, and mango sticky rice. Thai E-San never disappoints. This was good good food! The egg rolls were the best my wife and I had ever had. The curry was good, though my only minor critique would be that the temperature was a bit much so that it took awhile to cool off before we could appreciate our masaman and pineapple/green curries full flavor. The service was prompt and friendly. You got a sense that people there in this Thursday night had been there for years. The bathrooms were very clean. The artwork on the walls was beautiful. What a scam! I was shocked when I ordered this for delivery and the portions were TINY!! $20 for 5 of the smallest and flattest fish cake. The mango sticky rice was enough for 3 bites. The prices here are incredibly inflated so mediocre food. $25 for shrimp pad thai and there was literally 3 pieces of shrimp. There are much better options in this area without being scammed. With so many Thai choices in the Phoenix area, Thai E-San is definitely one of the best! This was my second time, and both times I've been there. They have been busy, even on a Monday night! Service is always spot on and super friendly! Last time I had one of my faves, the Drunken Noodles, and it did not disappoint! I decided to go with something this time outside of my usuals and went with the Papaya Salad and Lemongrass Soup. Thankfully, they do half portions of soup, so that was perfect! The soup was so delicious, and the broth was so tasty! For the Papaya Salad, I had that Bangkok style, which means it's topped with dried shrimp and peanuts! Amazing food and service. We tried the pad Thai spicy level 2, massaman curry spicy level 2, and green curry spicy level 3-all lunch specials. They all came with soup (forgot what it was called but it had mushrooms and was sweet n sour and oh so good), rice, and a roll. I really don't have many words on this restaurant because it's that good. Every time I've been here, the experience is exceptional, the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food is incredible. I had my favorite Thai place back home in Los Angeles, but im pretty sure this is my new spot in Phoenix. My meal was, and continues to be, Fried Tofu appetizer, House Pad Thai, and a Thai Iced Tea. Originally I would go to Chanpen and Glai Baan, but would recommend this place for quality, taste, and price. Pad Thai- 5/5: has the perfect balance of sweet and savory for the rice noodles. Pad see ew-5/5 - a stir fried noodle dish with your choice of meat cooked with soy sauce. Green curry- 4- the coconut sauce was a little watery to my liking, maybe some corn starch to thicken the sauce, but still flavorful Crispy chicken with spicy cream sauce- 3.5/5- this was like their version of orange chicken, good, but something I can pass to try another dish. I have a very picky eating teen and this is one of his favorite spots. I can almost always rely on him agreeing if I suggest Thai-E-San as the option for lunch or dinner. Kid loves the Thai iced tea here. Service is super friendly and kind, and the food comes out very quickly. They have all the usual suspects I expect at a Thai restaurant and they are very good. My only "miss" was the drunken noodles - they were great when hot, but got very mushy after I brought them home. Curries are especially good, and I highly recommend the Massaman. Takeout is good as well, though I think when you order online the prices are higher. So maybe just call in and order directly, or go there and wait for your takeout. read more

Crispy egg roll ok, had to sequence sauce for it out of a bottle, mad me a little queezy thinking if the guy before me touched his half eaten roll with the tip of the bottle... I've had around 15 places and still nothing compares to the curry here all the vegetables are always soft as heck and the curry itself so flavorful it's addicting I believe the only downside is sometimes the rice is overcooked and it's mushy as well as it does get pretty hot in here so it makes it pretty miserable to eat, sometimes especially in the really peak high temp days I always recommend food to my friends it's so well-made read more

It was not the first time, but it is definitely a last time that we visited this place. The waitress was not properly trained, was unable answer even basic questions about the food and services. The senior employee had a very dismissive attitude about gluten free soy sauce. We were not once asked if want a drink, dessert or anything else. It was supposed to be a happy birthday celebration, but we felt that we are annoying the employees just by asking questions. If I could go to Thai e-san every day I would! I cannot recommend this place enough. Every time I have a friend or family member visit, this is a necessary spot I have to take them. The workers are so kind and very personable. Rex has been my server multiple occasions and is so kind and funny. The food is always consistently good and never disappoints. I have tried the yellow curry, green curry, pad Thai, red curry, and the Pa naeg curry. All of them are delicious with very different flavors. The yellow curry is my favorite and a fan favorite among the many people I have brought here. Lunch takeout for three people was $75, a really steep lunch. We won't be back, when there are so many other Thai choices. Bland at spice level two, my spicy basil chicken dish was nearly $20 and truly didn't fill me upbafyet consuming it all. Portions are slight. Sauce was watery. Companion ordered a coconut soup and Pad Thai shrimp. The meals were ok, noodles were good texture and not overcooked. But again, very bland. Good quality takeout containers and secure packaging made it safe to carry these liquids in my car. Rice was plentiful. Order was ready when promised. I hung out and enjoyed some cocktails in a comfy booth with great low/medium-lighting while I decided on what to order. The cocktails (I had the pink one, the lychee-tini, and the spicy mango rum one - that one was my favorite! Excellent flavors, not too sweet, and a little spice.) were creative, balanced, and delicious! For dinner I had the panang curry (3-star spice) and added scallops. The coconut soup was also very sour, but it was good with the mix of the coconut milk in the soup. There was nothing to tone down the vinegary taste with the pad Thai.
