Pad Thai
Adam M.

Checked this place out on a whim. Always looking for good Thai places. Seemed quiet for a Saturday afternoon but was sat and had water and service instantly. Waiters were quick and responsive. We ended up getting veggie eggs rolls and pad Thai. The veggie egg rolls were ok, a bit overfried but good overall. The sweet and sour sauce was on point. The pad Thai, which we used to gauge the baseline for the restaurant was VERY good. The pork was cooked to perfection and the over all flavor was great. Portion size is good too, able to be shared, which we did. The pricing was a bit high but I think worth it, ~15-17$ for the pad Thai w/protein. My only small issue with the pad Thai is the "spicy ness" of the overall dish. I like very spicy Thai food but I opted for a 4/5, so I could gauge where the floor/ceiling was. A 4 was basically the equivalent of a mild/ low medium anywhere else. I will have to try the 5 some other time, or ask them to not go easy on me. The flavor was great no doubt, but I could have done with 100% more spice. They even say that they won't "take back" over spicy dishes on the menu, so I thought I was getting some real kick but it wasn't anything crazy.

Overall, this was a pretty good lunch spot and I'd definitely be willing to come back again. First the good: pad Thai portion was BIG! Shareable for two folks who are hungry. Quality meat and really good flavor. Service was also friendly and fast. A little bit on the oily side, even for pad Thai. We also got an order of vegetable spring rolls and these were not as good. They were crispy, but there was too much oil for my liking. There were actually dollop drops of oil in the plate after I cracked into one. Also was not a fan of the vegetable medley they put inside. Likely would not get these again and maybe try something else. Despite getting one entree and one app (and only waters) with a kind tip this lunch price surprised me. Enough that I'd actually hesitate coming for dinner, thinking they may be charging more at dinner rather than lunch. The ambience itself was fine. The floor was a bit sticky, and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned recently (paper towels and a noticeable puddle on the floor). May actually consider take out next time (not that dine in wasn't good, but I wonder if take out would make it a 5 star experience). I'd give it a shot though if you are in the area!

This is a popular Thai spot in the NW Phoenix area. I've been twice and both times it was considerably busy! Food is tasty and authentic with generous portions. Despite the portions, I believe the pricing is considerably high for AZ ($15-17 per dish without meat) and cornering you into paying an extra $2-4 any type of protein. Pricing is comparable/higher than what I was paying for Thai food in coastal CA. In contrast, their alcoholic drink pricing is such a great deal! Most cocktails are $10 and beers are $5. I am trying to find a group of friends to come in with to drink & yap with light apps. Note for management: I would consider adding two top tables and pushing them together to accommodate varying party sizes. Most tables have 2 people but seat 4-6. There is lost revenue on your part and longer wait times for customers.

I'm far from an expert in Thai food so take my review with a grain of salt. However, I will say what initially drew us to this place last year was its gluten free options for many of its dishes. The flavor is amazing, the service of the staff is friendly. The restaurant was packed at every table signaling that it's definitely a local favorite. We drive from Surprise to enjoy the food here and it's worth it every time.

This is by far my favorite Thai place in the whole state. The flavors are authentic, the service is great, and the prices reflect the quality. My favorite is the yellow curry and the Beef Panang. Oh, and when it's in season, Mango sticky rice! This place is also pretty popular, whether it's lunch or dinner. Be prepared for a little wait, but know it's worth it!

After our blood donation, we decided to eat here since it was nearby and Thai food is always a good choice. There were a few parking spots available and we entered the restaurant. It was spacious with a good amount of seating, and it was busy on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated and promptly provided with menus and iced waters with lemon. I ordered a Thai iced tea and it came in a mason jar with a handle. I used my own straw and the drink hit the spot. A good amount of ice so I finished it pretty quickly. For an appetizer, we got the chicken potstickers. These were small but good! As for entrees, I was craving their drunken noodles (pad kee mao), one of my favorite Thai dishes. I ordered it with tofu and a 4/5 spice level. It was great! Def spicy so I didn't eat much but I prefer that because I look forward to leftovers. I also tried the massaman curry with rice which was tasty as well as some the spicy basil dish, which had a really nice flavorful sauce to it. Overall, prices were a bit higher than anticipated but there was a sign that said they recently raised them, which makes sense in this economy. Service was friendly and efficient and we enjoyed our lunch here. I would come back!

Mixed seafood Pad Thai. Total awesomeness.

We have another winner. Pad Thai Cafe is a best of class in my 'Ethnic Eateries' category. Family run, authentic cuisine, neighborhood strip mall, cordial service, marginal ambiance, and an eclectic crowd of customers. Very eclectic. Just walking in the door, you know something amazing is happening here. Totally industrial space, concrete floors, open black painted ceilings, with a whole wall Thai mural and a full bar at the back of the room. But, the real give-away is the crowd that ranges from work crews, to old retired people, to full body tat displays, to young executives, to the young Asian women in their scrubs from the medical service across the street. I knew from other Yelp posts that Pad Thai Cafe is a family operated place with highly praised authentic ethnic cuisine. It did not disappoint. Our server was extremely cordial, efficient, and helpful. We ordered fresh spring rolls and Pad Thai. One chicken and one mixed seafood. The rolls were perfection. Lots of veggies, shrimp, and savory fresh cilantro. I loved the peanut sauce. The Hoisin was spot-on as well, but give me the peanut any day. The Pad Thai was so good and real it couldn't speak a word of English. My wife played it safe and ordered her chicken version with no spice. It was mild, full flavored, and generous with the chicken. I'm a spice guy, but in an unfamiliar restaurant I played it safe, I thought, and ordered a 2-3 out of 5. It was Thai-Chili full flavor, high heat, awesome. I'm still smoking a bit. I might step down to a 1 next time, but maybe not. There are few tastes quite as great as real Thai Chili Heat!!! My mixed seafood was amazing. Not just shrimp and squid; it had three beautiful fresh Green lip mussels, and tasty tender morsels of white fish. Pad Thai Cafe is another pilgrimage worthy neighborhood ethnic eatery. Don't miss it. I'll be back to try the list of curry dishes.

We had Thai takeout for dinner. The portion sizes were decent. A classic choice for a reason. The aromas alone when I opened the containers were intoxicating - that blend of lemongrass, ginger, and chili. Pa Nang curry: A thick, velvety sauce, and balanced with a gentle heat, created a comforting and satisfying dish. Pad Thai: The rice noodles were perfectly cooked, retaining a slight chewiness, and tossed in a tangy-sweet tamarind sauce Green Papaya Salad: A refreshing with a touch of spicy kick from the chilies was invigorating, and the overall balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy was spot-on. It was a perfect palate cleanser. Chicken Satay: The tender, marinated chicken skewers were grilled to perfection, boasting a smoky char and a juicy interior. Mango with Sticky Rice executed well with slices of ripe juicy mango and creamy coconut milk drizzle added a touch of richness.

As a visitor in town for work and not knowing the area well, to Yelp I went to fix my craving for Thai food. Although there were restaurants located much closer to my hotel, the existing reviews and pictures of this establishment looked more enticing. I'm picky with the authenticity of Asian foods because I grew up in a pacific island located very close to Asia and our Asian owned restaurants were authentic. It's always a hunt for that taste we knew growing up, where flavor was not compromised to satisfy the American palate. Because why?? I walked in to pick up my order and it was a very spacious place that had a good crowd. Staff was nice ringing me up and then I was on my way back to eat in my room. Business trips you know! My first bite is always the egg roll because you can tell everything else will be good if they're homemade and it was good. Their sauce paired perfectly too. Iykyk! The Thai Fried rice was generously portioned, seasoned perfectly, and they didn't skimp out on the amount of shrimp (which was plump!) or any of the fresh veggies. Then, I took the most satisfying, comforting sip of the curry broth and I'm sure I was nodding my head in approval at this point. I'm pretty sure I genuinely enjoyed it all because it was super tasty and fresh, and not at the fact that it was free as a work travel expense. I'll definitely be back!

Cute little place. Plenty of seating inside. Parking lot for the strip isn't the biggest though. Service was pretty good. Greeted when we came in, but service throughout was just okay. I had peanuts missing from my masaman curry, and it took a minute before we could get someone who came over to fix. Foos itself was pretty good. I've had better though, but also worse. Price was okay as well. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, but if you are in the area it's not a bad choice.

All the food we had was flavorful and delicious. Service was good. No complaints. Highly recommend giving this place a try if you're around the area. I love the additional spice rack given to adjust the taste.

I love this place! And it's family owned! I looked up some top rated Thai food in my area and came across pad thai cafe. I ordered pad see ew with 0 spice, and low salt, light sauce and it was great and still delicious. I also got the spring rolls with tofu which were nice and fresh and tasty. I can't tell it the peanut sauce with the spring rolls is homemade, but I hope it is (: all the food was delicious here and the staff was really friendly. It's also a beautiful ambiance inside and I can't wait to try more!

Thai Chicken is moist with nice slight char to give you that depth of flavors. Can easily share this. Egg rolls were crispy on the outside and moist inside, served with a great orangish red sauce. The orange chicken is nice and light fried like tempura... would go back just for this. Service was great from both the restaurant and the delivery people.

I ordered the way I did on purpose. These are my go to Thai dishes. The staples. I wanted to taste everything I consider my personal favorites so I could really gauge the restaurant across the board. The vegetable egg rolls and chicken satay were good. Solid. The potstickers were good. The chicken larb was actually good, maybe a little too much sugar, it tasted slightly sweet, but still one of the stronger dishes. Mango sticky rice was enjoyable. The Thai iced tea, flavor was on point. That's actually my first indicator when I try a Thai restaurant. The only thing that would've made it better is crushed ice. Real Thai spots usually use crushed ice. It melts perfectly and dilutes the sweetness just right. When you use block ice, the tea stays too sweet longer. Crushed ice gives it that smooth balance. Small detail, but that's how I gauge authenticity. Now to the honest part. The pad Thai was mediocre. It was lacking. I've definitely had better and I wouldn't recommend that dish. The spicy fried rice was okay, nothing special. The lad na gravy was way too thick, and instead of using Chinese broccoli, they used regular American broccoli. That's usually my second give when I rate a Thai restaurant. Traditional lad na uses Chinese broccoli. That swap changes the texture and the authenticity of the dish. They also didn't have the typical sauce that usually complements lad na, which I found strange for a Thai restaurant. The Thai fried rice was decent. Overall, I'm giving this place four stars. Here's my why. First, they didn't have common condiments that are pretty standard at most Thai restaurants. That threw me off. Second, the service. They weren't rude at all. Everyone was friendly. But the attentiveness just wasn't there, especially considering we placed a large order and the restaurant wasn't that busy. Third, the flavor and authenticity details. It just didn't hit the way traditional Thai food usually does. I've eaten Thai food all my life, especially in Thai Town in California and throughout Orange County, and the flavor profile here wasn't on that level. If someone asked me if I would return, probably not. But don't let my review stop you. Be your own judge. My goal isn't to hurt the business. It's feedback. Tighten up the service, dial in the flavor, stick closer to traditional ingredients, and it could easily level up to five stars for my taste. And yes, expectations vary. I've eaten a lot of Thai food, so I may be grading on a different curve. One more tip, if you're a party of six or more, double check your receipt. Gratuity was already included in ours and I didn't realize until I got back to where I was staying since I'm out of town. I had to call and have the extra tip removed. Just keeping it real.

The restaurant seems to charge for every little thing and the staff is slow and forgetful. Having to get up so many times just to remind them about our order is simply not acceptable. I really hope things improve, especially for long time customers who have supported this place for years Ambience The ambience was very cute and charming. The space feels inviting and has a pleasant atmosphere. Food The food was good. We ordered the catfish spring rolls and they were delicious once everything finally made it to the table. Service The service was the biggest issue and it was very disappointing, especially since my family has been coming here for 3 years. Parts of our order were missing, including several side dishes and even the sauce for the spring rolls. We asked for a cup of ice and that was missing too. We waited about 10 minutes after receiving the catfish before the vegetables were brought out and we had to keep asking for simple items. It's a shame because things taste best when the food is still hot, but the catfish was already cold once they brought out all the small dishes that came with the main dish. Because the staff was moving so slowly, we ended up walking to the counter (6 times) just to follow up on things that should have been brought to us without asking. It honestly felt like we were serving ourselves. There should be no excuse why service was so slow because there's two waitress and only one other table. The Vietnamese coffee tasted sickly sweet and burnt. After taking one sip, I asked to switch to a Thai tea, hoping it would be better, but that drink was also extremely sickenly sweet. I returned it after one sip as well. I was surprised to see that I was charged for both drinks and was told it was because I drank them, which did not feel fair at all. They even charged us for the lemon slices.
