    Pork Yellow Curry Dinner
    Stephanie V.

We've come back for dinner and a late lunch twice in the past two weeks. We were just craving some good Thai from this place. The service is as pleasant as ever, and the sitting area is large and clean with plenty of booths and tables to choose from. On our first trip in, we ordered to-go food for Hubs, to take home for his dinner. Our server, who I believe is also the owner, took down the order accurately and made sure to start the order 15 minutes before we were going to leave, and had to go order ready right when we were paying our bill. That is some excellent timing.

Plenty of self parking in the strip mall lot. Cute, colorfully decorated restaurant, plenty of room , clean, tables available. Prompt service, friendly staff. Wine, beer, and beverages available. Food was good, made with fresh ingredients. I enjoyed the pad Thai with tofu. Other diners in our party enjoyed spicy eggplant stir fry, orange chicken. All selections were good! Prices reasonable. A nice dining experience!

A bright and cheerful interior welcomes you to Jai Thai. I wasn't expecting such a large place. I was seated at a window booth. There were only two other tables on a Saturday lunchtime. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get lunch but had to order off the regular menu. I chose the Panang curry with chicken. I wanted to try something different! Typically I don't go for many curries because they're overly sweet, and unfortunately, this was the case this time. I ordered medium spice level, but it was only subtly-spiced. This curry came in a large bowl (served with a small side of jasmine rice - again, a very small serving for the dinner menu!) and had the consistency of broth, which I wasn't expecting. The chicken was cut very thinly and was dry and chewy. I slurped through and ate the chicken though because I was so hungry. I'm spoiled because I've learned the wonders of velveting proteins when stir frying and so I was disappointed that the chicken was so tough. I may return during the week when they offer lunch specials. Based on other reviews, people certainly have their favorites that bring them in here. I think it's a welcome addition to this area and I wonder if they saw more traffic their consistency might improve. If you like Thai food, I encourage you to come and try them out - you might find a favorite dish that will keep bringing you back!

Beware: The "boba" is more like grass-jelly than the round balls. And at $9.50, its sometime we'll not order again here. However, I think their pad-see-ew is fantastic! The chicken in it was so tender and moist. And at a lunch deal price point of $13.99, it's affordable. The soup that came with was noticable salty, but the egg roll was nice and crispy. 90% of the dining rooms were empty at 1pm on a Friday, which is a travesty. This place deserves more business. I was impressed with everything at this location. From the outside, I didn't even realize it was going to be this big and so well decorated, so I was astonished. There's plenty of room to host at least 70-100 customers, plus a separate section if you want to host your own party or a seminar. As usual, I tried my go-to Drunken Noodles to judge the place, and it was definitely worth it. The staff lady was very nice and answered all my questions. Would definitely come back here again.

    Drunken noodles with tofu

I have been all about drunken noodles lately and was working in the area so I stopped here for takeout for an early dinner. I ordered online and my order was ready pretty quickly! The restaurant was pretty empty when I arrived! Just one couple dining in. It didn't look like a typical Thai restaurant, it had a nautical type theme going on, and spa-like music playing. And it was set up a little off like bathrooms and a desk when you walk in but there's not like a hostess there you have to keep walking to get to where the seats and bar is and stuff. I got drunken noodles with tofu and added some extra tofu too, the portion was nice and big! I did wish there were some more veggies, a bit less sauce, and a bit more flavorful. I got mine medium and it seemed like true medium spice! Overall it was good though and I hope they get some more business.

This is a full to go order of soup

We ordered food from them that was very unsatisfactory. Spring rolls with Tofu, no Tofu. Yellow curry with Tofu, no Tofu. Tom Ka soup that was sent in the smallest container with NO Tofu. I called the restaurant to see what our options were, the person I spoke to asked me if she could call me back in 30 minutes that they had gotten busy. I was patient and said sure. AN HOUR LATER I CALLED THEM BACK FIR THEM TO TELL ME CONTACT DOOR DASH. NO RESOLUTION, NO OFFER TO REMAKE OUR FOOD. So we get a order of garbage for $78 dollars. I would not recommend ordering from them, we've tried other places and shame on us for trying something new.

This one-time Thai food place, turned Cajun and back again to Thai is really good. You would not expect to find a spot this good in Sun City, but you will not be disappointed. The ambiance is a bit stark and brightly colored from the Cajun food era, but ignore that as the food is fresh, tasty and served quickly. I had Pad See Ew and asked for "medium" spicy. It had a nice kick without me dying. You can order it hotter. The service was fast, and at about $12 per order, including spring rolls and a really tasty chicken soup, it was fantastic.

As a proud Yelp Elite, I decided to give this place a chance because the reviews were the best I saw in the city! The place was busy on a Sunday night and it is small but I never say customers waiting too long. There were two larger parties seated so the food took some time but nothing outrageous. We started with the calamari, spring rolls, and crab wontons. The calamari were the biggest I've ever seen and very delicious! Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the spring rolls or crab wontons. I feel like those are hard to get wrong but I was not a fan of the cream cheese that was used and it was a lot of it, barely any imitation crab. For entrees, I had the spicy basil and substituted ground chicken for chicken breast, my personal preference. I ordered level 2 spice but it was still a bit spicy for me. Trying a new Thai place is always hit or miss with spice levels so I actually thought I was being safe with 2. Additionally, the chicken was so bland. Some Thai places season their chicken, some do not and unfortunately Pad Thai Cafe missed that mark. My partner ordered the short rib curry dish and my goodness, it smelled like heaven and tasted just as good. I don't eat beef but had to taste it and it was divine! He also ordered spice level 2 and his dish was not as spicy as mine. Overall, the rest of the party enjoyed their food and there were good flavors there so I'd definitely recommend the entrees, not so much the starters.

This place seemed like our best bet. Since this time of year is busy in AZ with so many snowbirds, I booked a reservation through the online portal. It didn't end up being necessary. We were seated right away and never asked about our reservation. The restaurant is located in a strip mall. From the parking lot, it looks small and more like a fast food place, but it is actually looks double the size once you get inside. It has a nice sit-down ambience with new, clean, and somewhat rigid booths. Straight posture was definitely encouraged here in these upright seats. Although it does seem like a lot of people might order items to go, we were shielded from any traffic while eating. To start, we shared some sushi rolls. The spicy salmon was nice, but I really liked the sweetness of the unagi eel roll. They were a little sloppy in preparation, but this didn't impact the flavor. Each plate came with 8 pieces of sushi, some sliced ginger, and a small ball of wasabi. My uncle asked for an additional plate of wasabi and the server delivered it, but he commented on how they usually end up throwing it away because most people don't eat much of the green ball of fire. The table had a container of disposable chopsticks as well as two types of soy sauce. I was delighted to find the 50% less sodium variety with the green label. small plates with one paper napkin each were part of the setup. We had to ask our server for more napkins after my husband splatter soy sauce all over himself. The server brought just two more. It really wasn't enough to fix the 101-dalmatian spots he had acquired from the black soy splattered all over his white jacket. We also ordered curry. My uncle indulged in the pumpkin curry with shrimp. The bowl was massive - much bigger than mine. I had the red curry with tofu. It was beautifully presented with perfectly formed cubes of extra firm tofu lined up in the yellow soup. There was also bright red strips of bell pepper adding a pop of contrasting color. Unfortunately it didn't seem like my curry was well blended. It was as if they added cold coconut milk to a hot pan and it possibly heated up too fast causing it to separate and slightly curdle. Despite this, it still tasted good. I did have some trouble with the large size of tofu and the length of the bell pepper strips. I wish both had been just a tad bit smaller to fit in my mouth. I only had a spoon, so cutting the pieces wasn't an option. To go, I ordered the spicy green beans with shrimp to take home to my mom. She enjoyed two meals out of it. The shrimp was large and plump. Plus there was no shell or tail to pull off making it much easier and more pleasant to eat. Our bill came out to just over $100 with iced tea and sake added to the above. It seemed reasonable for the five plates we ordered. We had come during happy hour where certain items are a dollar cheaper, but I don't think we ended up ordering off that discounted menu. All and all, it was a decent meal and experience. I might come back here because of the convenient location and the availability of both sushi and Thai curry on the menu.

The food was delicious, we loved the papaya salad so much, there were so many flavors of spicy and tangy, and the papaya itself was very refreshing. We had the Pad kee mao and Panang curry which were also delicious. For the chicken pad kee mao we requested it to be gluten free and they gave us the same rice noodles as the Pad Thai and a slightly different sauce which was so darn good! The chicken was very tender. When the Panang curry said it came with beef, I didn't know what to think but after a single bite I was a huge fan! So many flavors hit you at once and the beef was so incredible, it was falling part.
