I originally went for Tom Yum soup, but since they didn't have it, I ended up getting their pho instead. The menu has many options and the portions are large, but the food was very underwhelming. I ordered the seafood pho and a Thai tea. The pho broth was too sweet, and the condiments and sauces seemed like they had been sitting there for a long time. The chili oil and chili paste tasted old, and the bottles were greasy and sticky. Thai tea was decent, place def needs more cleanup. read more

Phenomenal beef pho. Amazing little place in surprise. Me and my girlfriend went about a week ago to try a new pho spot. Drove around 20m up here and every mile was worth it. Amazing broth and the quality was top notch. Fast service and nice people inside. 10/10 would recommend. The pho was so amazing,the best place I've tried in Arizona so far and I don't know what will beat it. Not sure if there AC was down the day we went but it was very hot inside, don't dress up too much!!But still worth every little drop of sweat. So so so good. read more

Came into town, city of surprise Az drove by this pho place, and I wanted to try this place, we decided to have an appetizer spring roll and it comes in 4 rolls it's pork and shrimp. Wasn't happy with the taste of it, didnt taste fresh they just roll it with lettuce and noodle dont see mint leaf and sauce came with it didnt taste good as well.. Service could of been better because waited a long time to order, the waiter gave us the menu, water, a basket with silverware and napkins, then he walked away and didn't say anything. There was another waiter brought out the food to our table was nice,but they should ask if we need anything else before they walked away. Ambience theres no t v except theres a screen with advertising the food on it. I think the place can be clean here and there, and customer service needs to work on. read more

The wife normally gets take out here so I tried it.. the chicken pho tasted like BOILED CHICKEN WATER, no seasoning. Even after adding the "side" flavors that use to come in a plastic baggie ( not anymore, it just comes thrown together in an Asian container box with the noodles). This dish was HORRIBLE. The wife ordered a curry dish that had less than a whole chicken breast of shredded meat in it. This place has decided to cut cost by giving you maybe two tablespoons of shredded DRY chicken with the dishes & if you ask to add shrimp you only get two-three pieces. In order to make this dish cost basically less than $5.00 if you make it at home & I wish I would have just made it myself. This food doesn't taste authentic at all. I will never order from this place again & we were somewhat of a regular customer ( well my wife & son were) .. This establishment has definitely decided to GO CHEAP and for that you won't get our business again. It's just chicken people! Serve at least a whole breast! Or just stop & CLOSE THE DOORS. I was hoping fall in life with this place, especially because it's so close to the freeway, but it just didn't Happen for me. There's plenty of quiet space inside. I ordered the appetizer combination - it was ok, better than my entree. The Nguc Cham (fish dipping sauce) tasted so watered down, I was really disappointed. Vietnamese spring rolls are always served with romaine lettuce and mint. You roll it up like a little burrito and then dip it in the Nguc Cham sauce, but unfortunately they only had butter iceberg and Thai basil. Not for me. I wanted to order an authentic slow drip Vietnamese coffee, but they had a premix, so I passed. I ordered the #13 - it came with a strange salad dressing and the rice had an odor to it. Even after taking it home, I could not eat it. The pork was so fatty, I tossed it out too. On the evening of May 7th, I placed an Uber Eats order from this restaurant for Filet Mignon Pho and a 4-piece egg roll (Cha Gio). This was my second attempt trying their food. During my first visit, I walked in to place a to-go order, but was told they were out of several key ingredients, including egg rolls and bean sprouts. I still ordered a rare steak pho, but it lacked flavor and was disappointing. This recent order was slightly better--the pho was average, with a broth that was passable but not rich. However, the egg rolls were a serious concern. Not only did they seem to contain no meat, but my very first bite included a foreign object, which could have caused serious harm. I immediately contacted Uber Eats and documented the issue. I don't write negative reviews lightly, but this goes beyond personal taste. For health and safety reasons, I strongly urge a professional inspection of this establishment. I won't be returning. read more

First off, The young man that took my order to go was very polite and I appreciated the small talk that he initiated with me. So he was great. Second, very disappointed and I don't think I'll be going back. What I received was sub par from what I have gotten before. I got the dumplings and the filet pho with extra filet. When I got home just around the corner, the sauce for the dumplings immediately looked and felt thinned out and was lacking in flavor. The pho broth usually filled to the top, was only 80-85% filled. The extra filet I've gotten two equally portioned bags. This time, not only was one bag 1/4 the size of the other, but was still frozen and honestly I felt like they portioned the second bag from the first. When I tried to separate the slices, they fell apart from still being frozen together and I ended up dropping it into the broth in whole chunks. This is only my second or third review for anywhere and now seeing the option for taking pictures. I wish I had done this first to show. Sorry, it's a no for me. read more

I needed soft foods to eat. So Pho was my best option. This is my first time trying Vietnamese in AZ. It was good. The dumplings have chicken inside. They give you bean sprouts, lime jalapeños and basil on the side. Another container has all the different sauces you can add to the soup. The veggies were soft, but not mushy. We were seated and greeted immediately. There weren't many people inside when we got there. I'm not sure there was much of a decor vibe that stands out as memorable. It's definitely a place to sit and eat, not to go for any kind of hip vibe. My friend ordered the shrimp pho. She liked it. Only critiques: the soup wasn't super hot. The green tea was weak. Too much water was in the pot, and it too, wasn't super hot. I'd go again. Would like to try a different dish next time when I can eat solid food. read more

I visited Surprise Pho on a whim. I craved for vietnamese food and called ahead to place my order. They were helpful in helping me figure out the menu. Since I was in a time crunch I had to make sure the food would be ready. They had it readily prepared for me to eat. I got the hot stone bbq ribeye. I love a hot and sizzling plate. I'm not sure but when I had it for my dine in option.. I was hoping to hear the food crackle and pop. But surprisingly it did not get that effect. I ate the steak that once cut into pieces with onion and bell peppers. It was more like a peppered steak dish. It was mediocre, but I'm assuming it would've been as bomb dot com if they had put it hot on the platter and kept the ribeye steak intact and cooked to our liking. I got the shrimp spring roll, it was rolled thick. It helped make me feel full. I appreciate the customer service at this restaurant. I think they can improve the dated interior. I hope they can better their food. But for anyone in the surprise area who doesn't know pho and vietnamese food like I do, the price is a good options for a quick grab and go. read more

Worst pho and spring rolls I've ever had and I've had a lot. Pho had no flavor. They didn't give me any basil. The spring rolls were full of lettuce and the meat. None of the veg or herbs that springs rolls usually have. Fried rice was bland. read more

When we walked in it wasn't crowded and the place was clean :). Service was good as well. We are kind of picky when it comes to our Pho. We also order our Pho with egg noodles. This establishment didn't even know if they had them and then when the waiter came back saying they did he said it was an up charge. We go to a lot of places and have never been charged for the noodle change. The flavor was not fully there and the noodles were clumpy. It was also lacking on the amount of protein. The portion for the vermicelli dish I ordered was super small. Seems like they forgot half the order. Togo containers held up in the car ride. When it comes to a good Vietnamese meal, this is the spot! Super unsuspecting from the outside. Located in a random little shopping center, but tucked away is this gem. I'm more of a traditionalist and always go with the the house phó which is a mix of beef cuts, meat balls, tendon, and a few others mixed in a hot broth, with rice noodels, bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeños, hoisin sauce, and sriracha. I'm also a sucker for spring/egg rolls so lock those up too! I normally get this to go as it's a comfort food for me and what's more comfortable than my own couch? So the soup. When to go it comes on a big tub with the mix ins separate. Warm the broth/noodles up to your liking add the rest in a big bowl grab your chop sticks and get after it! The broth is so rich and the meat packs so much flavor. I prefer heat so I add all the jalapeños and extra sriracha. The tendon is chewy, the beef is perfect, and I can't get past the broth still. Egg rolls are crispy, but I prefer the spring rolls peanut sauce to the one that is included with the egg rolls. Be sure to get to this place on a rainy day to warm you up! read more

By far, one of the worst PHO places that we have ever been to. We just arrived from Vegas to Avondale. Our daughters were set to compete at a tournament. As a result, we were starving. Drove up to the restaurant and there were not a lot of cars. Walked in and there was only one table with people. All the other tables were empty. MAJOR bad sign that this is not a good restaurant. My mom, wife, and daughters order the PHO. With the pho, they asked the beansprouts to be dipped in hot water. I ordered the Bun with shrimp and pork. When the pho arrived, the bowl is huge (large), but it was barely half full. My mom put the boiled beansprouts in their pho - so did my wife. when they took a bite, they knew right away that the BEAN SPROUTS were bad and old. It has that pungent smell. Unfortunately, my mom already ate a spoon full. We asked them to remove the bean sprouts immediately. Who serves rotten bean sprouts? Also, note that the noodles were brittle. This means that they OVER cooked the noodles. Very bad sign that this is a bad Vietnamese chef. As for my bun, it was okay. Noodles were bunched together and hardly any lettuce. Not good. We stayed a quick 15 minutes and left. Afterwards, all of us were still hungry. We decided to go to McDonald's to have our dinner. We would definitely not recommend this place. My poor Dasher had to wait over 20 minutes before they left and had another Dasher had to take over. Once I receive the food my noodles were in a Chinese takeout box with a bag of the raw steak on top so basically the noodles were one giant mass. The broth container , was not even filled to the top. When I tried to separate the noodle mass with some hot broth they ended up in clumps. If that wasn't bad enough, the broth had no flavor. Warm customer service! Pho bowls under $10. If you are craving Vietnamese and you can't go closer east, Surprise Bowl will do. I was bringing home food for the family, and they did a good job preparing the food for travel. Watch out for their hot Pho or broth soup in the styrofoam. It is boiling hot. They package the rice noodles, bean sprouts, mint and basil, and raw beef separately. I ordered a Com Dia or barbecue grilled pork. My son said it was pretty good, but they do not offer shredded beef with tripe, steamed egg with crab and favorite tau hu ky (fried shrimp paste with dried beancurd) which is part of standard offerings further east. That was a little disappointing. Nevertheless, if you are in Surprise, it is wonderful to find another ethnic restaurant that has tasty offerings. read more

The lemongrass chicken with white rice was amazing!!! I will definitely come back for this! Great portion size. BUT the pho, NO. I've never had this from other places I've gone to but this pho (chicken) had a very strong flower/perfume-y smell. The pho tasted great, not skimpy with the chicken pieces but I could just not get over the flower/perfume smell. (It def wasn't from any of the garnish) I'm not sure I will try the pho again.
