Today is our wedding anniversary and we decided to do lunch at Panera in Surprise, Arizona. We were greeted at the door by the assistant manager, who welcomed us with a huge smile and a big welcome! Susan, the General Manager, welcomed us at the register. We ordered the You Pick Two: Chicken Cranberry Salad sandwich with Mac & Cheese; the Grilled Chicken BLT with Avocado with Mac & Cheese; a bowl of the Rustic Potato Soup, and two large drinks. Both meals, bowl of soup, and drinks were affordably priced. It was easy to find seating and we found a comfortable well lit table for two in their spacious dining room. There was practically no wait for the food and the district manager (who was visiting this restaurant for a day) helped me bring food to the table. The food was incredible! It was warm and flavorful. The texture was perfect! We learned a small hack to butter, our baguettes and dip them into the rustic potato soup. One of them were can express the taste: phenomenal! We have visited this restaurant in the past for lunch as we can afford to, and we have never been disappointed. We are so grateful that this location has not increased prices, decrease quality, or sacrifice portion size for the price we pay of the register. The staff is absolutely amazing! Words feel like it's a home away from home with good people and quality food. I have to admit that I have passed on the surveys sent to me by Panera in the past, but just felt lead to give overdue praise and credit where it's deserved. Once again in our search to find things edible, we decieded to try Panera. What could possibly go wrong. Well, wifeys grilled sandwich wasn't grilled and the crust was unbreakable. Her tomato soup tasted "like hot catsup", Yum. Pops' cheese steak had a slice of steak on it, and so much fixins' and aioli mayo that attempting to bite through the granite like roll most everything on the sandwich ended up on the plate. Oh, and my soup after correcting the wrong one ( they gave me onion instead of potato) after arguing with me over what I ordered tasted like flour and water with a few pieces of potato. And of course let's not forget the coup de grace, the stale cookie and my asphalt like chocolate croissant, oh boy. Panera flavors are consistently good. I did the Pick 2 and a drink. I got a cookie for 50 off. I love the chicken and wild rice soup. The chicken avocado on ciabatta was tasty. I do miss the heartier portions. I am a fan of their lemonades and green teas. read more

I was pleasantly " Surprise..d" to find a Drive Thru ( photo)at the Panera in " Surprise" Az. I was also surprised as I read the multiple 1 and 2 star reviews from January 2025 and 2024 slamming this location and the staff. My experience was 5 Star worthy and just all around superb: 1) Immaculate restaurant 2) My bagel was hot and great. Lexi gave me my coffee cup in 2.8 seconds plus ample butters( 6 maybe or 7) for my Gavone ass without fussing.l 3) The coffee ( dark roast) was fresh, strong and hot. 4) All cream options were full or almost and had the hour checked stamp on them. 5) The team was quick. I ordered on the computer by the entrance and they got to it pronto. I saw the orders before mine go to ready status in no time. 6) I heard the awesome Lexi again up front answer the phone and she was professional, polite and efficient. 7) I saw the kitchen staff smiling, having fun and kicking butt as they moved quickly. 8) Loads of parking. 9) Open at 6 am( beautiful for us East Coast bums who are up at 4 am). 10) The rest room was clean, smelled good and had ample paper products. Hey this Surprise and Sun City West in Arizona where the majority of residents are retirees and older( 60 +++) and they drive their golf carts at 15 mph in the middle lane in traffic on a busy main road. If you ever look at my reviews, I have been a customer of Panera Bread for many years and there were times when they dropped the ball. I will say that their management has always contacted me and on several times they have offered to make things right. I always decline any compensation, because I want to be honest about the service I receive. On Saturday, May 9th I wanted to try out the new menu at the Bell Rd. Panera where I frequent often. The service and food were absolutely spot on. The restaurant was clean, the food was prepared quickly and the employees very attentive and friendly. I attached a photo of my sandwich and I have to say that it was probably the BEST sandwich I've ever had at Panera Bread. I think it's called the Italiano Sandwich. It was prepared as I asked, and it was delicious. Overall, my dinner was the best I've had in a long time and wanted to share. Ordered 3 dozen mini chocolate chip cookies online through their catering site and picked them up a few hours later. Called to see if I could get them early and spoke with Treasure. As a vegetarian it can be hard to find a local restaurant to enjoy a meal at. I ordered a veggie sandwich today and it was amazing. I checked the area where they put the bags and it was empty. They have a screen that says which orders are ready. Mine was ready but not in the bins. I went up to the counter and 4 girls were talking completely ignoring me. Even the person was there with the head piece on. They all walked away with the last one asking me what I needed. Panera is one of my go to "Office on the Run" spots. I can stop in, grab a coffee and a croissant, and settle in to a table to get some work done or even take a Zoom meeting. This location is perfect for this purpose with outlets at almost every table and a big enough dining room that I can always find an open table where I can spread out and not bother other guests. The team is always friendly, the young lady who helped me today even brought my order to the table when she saw that I was busy. My only possible complaint is that the cold brew coffee is way too strong. I usually end up dumping half and adding water to weaken it, but that's a small price to pay for the convenience they offer. read more

We were fans of Panera in Minneapolis, MN, so go there now. Unfortunately, the menu has changed and is not as tasty as it was. The new salads are not as good as the previous menu, sugar cookies always in short supply, lettuce is often wilted, dressings are sometimes not applied, dishes are at times not clean and did away with mixed on-site chocolate milk. Attention to detail is sloppy to say the least-always short on napkins, coffee dispensers are not kept filled, creamers are often low or not there at all. we've noticed customers are fewer then earlier. Staff are friendly, but too many new replacements not up to par. Basically, it's a fine restaurant but management keeps lowering standards. Needs tweaking for a five-star grading. I would pay more for better food and service. read more

My husband and I were craving something healthy and light for dinner. Panera popped into mind so we checked out the website. It is so easy to maneuver through and customize your order by adding or removing ingredients, and you are able to choose whether you want no, light, extra, or sauces or dressing on the side. It was transparent and easy to find their gluten free options which is awesome! I placed our order online as a guest and paid. This location offers rapid pick up. We headed on our way. Our order was ready in less than 15 minutes. The location was clean. It was easy to locate our order in the rapid pick up cubby. It came in a large sealed bag with our drinking cup beside. Around the corner is where you fill up the cups before you leave. Our order was perfect and came with napkins and proper dinnerware. My husband ordered the Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt which was filled with smokey chicken. He really enjoyed it. I picked the Southwest Chile Lime Ranch Salad with Chicken. I was so happy it was just over 10.00 and loaded with chicken and flavor in every bite! We added a couple of blood orange lemonades to share with the kiddos. Panera is a fail for me. For the price paid for food here there is not much value. Came in with my mother the other day and two cups of soup two half sandwiches and two ice tea, over 35 bucks? Ok. That doesn't sound to outrageous but we both left hungry. Even though my lunch was mostly bread. Still hungry. A cup of tomato soup in a hollow bread bowl with mushy croutons and a half grilled cheese and 1/2 strip of bacon (they forgot the tomato) and a stale baguette. 10.88. This visit reminded me of why I miss paradise bakery so much. It was a sad day when this change happened. And don't try to tell me "it's the same" because it isn't. There are many great things about Panera. One of The great thing about Panera is very friendly and kind ambience and staff. For example, Madison is one of the kind staff who always checks on each table to make sure everyone is happy. I commonly see the managers keep checking on customers. Ordered a simple You Pick Two order for a 5pm pickup. Salad was good, but one look at the sandwich and I knew something had gone wrong. They told me when I picked the order up that they were out of the bread they use on the Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt, and had to use white bread-did not give me a 2nd choice. They also were out of bagettes and added an apple-no big deal on that. When I got home I opened the sandwich and saw a bagel. I looked at the label and saw that it was something called a Frontega Chicken. However it wasn't on Black Pepper Focaccia, but on a bagel. It also had no tomato, 2 tiny pieces of basil, a couple of onions that I could not tell were red onions, and some chicken and cheese. Definitely anemic compared to the picture on their website! I took my older friend like a mother to me to this location I bragged about how wonderful the sandwiches were and she was overwhelmed by all the choices I know I like turkey, avocado cheese, lettuce, etc. on a nice crusty French roll but the girl there said they didn't have any French rolls and she gave me ciabatta so my friend I will call her " Lynn" to maintain her privacy ask for the same thing I got as we went to find a seat with our coaster waiting to light up I glanced over at a man eating a wonderful long French bread baguette sandwich and he had soup so therefore I was totally excited. The lights on the coaster went off I go to get my sandwich and look what I got, this is both of our sandwiches. The bread was dry those an awful sand it look like something you get at Walmart I felt so bad because she wanted to pay for meal she insisted and both sandwiches came to $30 so $15 a sandwich with a handful of chips and a tiny bag you see I haven't been to Panera in a while, I was embarrassed it was awful. I was super disappointed today with Panera... I drove up there- intending to use the drive thru and the light was on, but the girl on the other end said, "We're short staffed, so the drive thru is closed but you can come inside." Bummer- ok, not my plan but I can do that. (BTW - why not put a sign up? Turn off the light?) It was a downhill visit from there- Kiosk ordering (I had no idea what I was doing) & 1/2 of the items were sold out. There were pagers next to the kiosk that I took one for my order- but apparently didn't need one for To-Go orders (no indication and no receipt to tell me what to do). Wait in a nearly empty restaurant. Manager wandering around- saw my pager didn't say anything. Finally I go up to the ordering station to realize my food was done and had been done for awhile. No page. I said something and the manger was very snippy with me saying "you didn't need that thingy." Really? You don't say? This restaurant was NOT busy enough to shut down the drive thru. And the manager was not busy enough to see me sitting there with a pager and no meals waiting to go out to dine in. I will NOT be returning to this particular location. read more
