I've had the chance to visit this place, and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is great--the lighting, décor, and even the patio are very nice. The food is delicious, the service is great, and the prices are fair for the portions. One thing that really caught my attention was how carefully they packed and organized my takeout order. It may sound funny, but if they put that much care into packing food, it gives me confidence in how they handle things in the kitchen. The bathrooms were clean too, which is always a plus. Great food, good service, and attention to detail. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Disgusting. The chicken lo mein smelled bad and tasted like it smelled. The vegetables tasted like it soaked in hose water. Just all around not good. I can't believe it has 4 stars. Family went to bed hungry spent $80.00 go somewhere else. Not worth it read more

We love Chinese food, but we were really disappointed in our Big Buddha order last night. This was a birthday choice celebration I was looking forward to but honestly, thought on a scale of 1-10 I would rate it a one. And that rating is being generous. I felt I could go to any grocery store and find frozen egg roll, fried rice and other Chinese bagged yummies that would have far surpassed what we ate last night. Sorry, but sometimes the truth hurts. read more

We should've known this spot would be good when we saw the line out the door just after 5 on a Saturday. We put our name on the list and were told 15-20 mins. It was close to 30 mins later when we were told our table was ready. Service was kind of slow, but it wasn't because the servers were slacking. On the contrary, they were running around the entire time. We started with a PuPu platter, which was a lot of food and all very good. We then split orders of the teriyaki chicken and Mongolian beef. Plates are large, and there's a lot of food. Again, both dishes were quite good. We had leftovers to take back to the AirBnB. We'd definitely come back next time we're in Surprise. read more

Service was mediocre! Food was overly salty, and underwhelming! Not easy to order takeout, which is only online! I did enjoy the crab puffs/wontons and spring rolls. I'm so sorry, but I hardly recommend this place! I'm not sure if I'll return! read more

Great food. Our new go to place for Chinese food. Like the environment as well. We will go back soon.

We got takeout tonight and the entree was ok, but of the (3) starters, the egg-rolls were miniature and dry and the BBQ pork slices were not slices but chopped up and dry bits of tasteless material(?) Something has changed. Not the same Chefs obviously. Will find another Chinese restaurant that does skimp and take shortcuts! read more

My wife and I popped into Big Buddha for a Sunday lunch and left seriously impressed -- this place delivers! The lunch specials are a total win: big portions, great value, and food that actually tastes freshly made (not just reheated takeout vibes ). We started with their sweet-and-sour soup, which was the perfect warm-up -- tangy, a little spicy, and so comforting that I kind of wished it came in a bigger bowl. For mains, I went with the Mongolian Beef, and wow -- tender beef, a rich sweet-savory sauce, and a bed of crispy noodles that added the perfect crunch. My wife ordered the Shrimp with Vegetables, and her plate was loaded with plump shrimp and colorful veggies swimming in a garlicky brown sauce that was seriously delicious. Each lunch combo came with rice and an egg roll -- simple, classic, and just right. The service was quick and friendly, and the whole vibe was relaxed -- a great little spot for an easy, satisfying meal. Pro tip: Go for the lunch specials -- you'll get a full spread without breaking the bank, and trust me, you won't leave hungry! read more

This restaurant was better than I expected it to be! The food is pretty americanised but it is tasty. We came here on a Wed afternoon and it was packed! There is lots of parking in the area. They also have patio seating but I'm glad we sat inside because it was super hot outside during the afternoon. They have lunch specials which are total worth the price. We got the chicken egg foo young with egg drop soup lunch special and the schezwan string bean with pork and hot and sour soup lunch special. Every lunch special comes with fried rice, an egg roll and a crab puff. The egg rolls were very good. The crab puff was ok, we would have liked more crab stuffing. The soups were excellent. You won't go wrong with either choice. The fried rice was average. I have had better fried rice in other Chinese restaurants. The entrees themselves were very good. The chicken egg foo young is a Chinese omelet presented as a cutlet of chicken and egg, bean sprouts, slightly breaded and smothered in brown gravy sauce. The portion was big and I couldn't even finish one of the cutlets, so we took most of my entree home. The schezwan string bean and pork entree was delicious. Husband finished every last bit of it. For the price of around $12 per special, we were satisfied and delighted by the meal. The ambiance is pretty casual but the restaurant is nice. We definitely recommend checking them out if you are in the area. read more

More of the same. Dinner with friends. Food was fantastic. Portions are huge. We ordered Mongolian Beef, Orange Chicken, Chicken with Almonds and Shrimp in Oyster Sauce, And every dish made perfectly, served hot to the table. Prices were excellent. 100% clean plate club. They have really good lunch special menu for very reasonable pricing. Inside is pretty big and nice, cashier was really friendly. But the food .. I got Mongolian beef, it was super salty. Big Buddha was just OK. Now, we ordered delivery so I can't speak to the ambiance or staff. The food was OK. Nothing wrong with it, and nothing special either. I guess I would order again as long as there isn't another run of the mill chinese place that is closer. read more

One of my favorite Chinese spots in Arizona! Closest to "authentic" Chinese food I could find! There were hardly any good authentic Chinese spots in Arizona so I was so stoked when I actually came across here and it was GOOD Parking can be slightly difficult because they have a small parking lot Service was very attentive and friendly It is very small inside so not much seating The menu has so much variety, whether you want rice dishes or noodles, they have so many different kinds you can choose from! They even have lunch specials (11am-3pm) and there are 20+ options all ~$15. Got the Popo Platter ($13.75) and there were egg rolls, fried shrimp, beef skewers, BBQ pork, and crab puffs. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! Enough for 2+ to share! What a wonderful appetizer! I would say it's 4/5 The chicken chow mein ($12.75) and the noodles were so crispy and it was loaded with chicken and veggies! Super yummy without being too salty. The portion was pretty big! This was a 4/5 Orange chicken ($13.75) was mediocre, not the crispy fried orange chicken I'm used to. It was more like pan fried chicken covered with orange sauce. It was pretty underwhelming.. I would say it's 3/5 Definitely would recommend and return read more

First visit as my regular Chinese restaurant was closed, this is possibly its replacement. Absolutely wonderful experience. The decor for a small establishment was grand, beautifully decorated, very clean, down to the cleanliness of the ladies room. Menu was well laid out and the server greeted almost immediately asking if we wanted a beverage, water or other; returned quickly. Asking if we had questions in regard to the menu. I ordered Mongolian Beef, we had sweet & sour chicken, upgraded meals with soup & appetizers and added fried rice. All were cooked perfectly. My hot & sour soup was good, but asked for pepper, I like it spicy. The beef was tender and velvety with just enough sauce & onions. The chicken, The Chicken! This was the star never had it prepared this way, appeared to be chicken breast sliced and lightly coated so the flavor of the meat and sauce worked together. Unlike other places with chunks of heavily battered chicken, fried and swimming in sauce. Delicious! Fried rice was good, probably will try a different rice selection next visit. Appetizer sides that accompanied the meal upgrade were good too, but not memorable. Definitely will go again soon, excited to try other entrees. read more

As far as the west valley is concerned, this is a pretty solid Chinese restaurant. It's always tough to compare to restaurants from back where they are from but I like this place. We also really enjoy the orange peel chicken. read more

They have the best Chinese food. Love their Orange Chicken. We have never had a bad experience with the service either.

Great food portions! Family owned. Staff is attentive and quick. The gal servicing the Togo orders so fast and helpful. I wish this restaurant was bigger or at a better location. We loved the decor. Definitely going back again. A must try in the west valley read more

I only ever get Chinese house fried rice these days . I have gone to many different places in surprise, and big Buddha has the best rice out of all of them. Lots of proteins, big pieces not little chopped up squares. The flavor of the rice is excellent. The price is the same as everywhere else, so definitely the best buy out of all of them . It's no surprise that this SURPRISE Chinese restaurant gets such astounding reviews... It's very tasty, quick and reasonable! We ordered food for pickup. I was impressed that they have boxes to put food in to carry out. Loved that! Especially with the soup we ordered. (No balancing act needed while driving home, trying not to turn a corner and tip over the container!) Here's what we ordered... Wor wonton soup - delicious and full of flavor. 5.0 Broccoli & beef - nice sauce. Meat was tender with just the right amount of seasoning. 5.0 Shrimp & veggies - they went the extra mile to take off the back end of the shell. Mom loved it and had 3 servings! 4.5 Eggrolls - a little greasy. Average but not terrible. 3.5 Cashier was prompt and friendly. Easy pick up. Food was still super hot but the time we got it home. Restaurant looks nice. Easy parking. Overall I give it experience a 4.5 star read more

Great food, as usual. This is fast becoming our go-to Chinese restaurant. Sichuan string beans could make a vegetarian out of me.

Very good food. Nice size portions so we're always able to bring some home. Easily accessed location.

Spoiled chicken served in House Special We ordered Take out and picked up at the restaurant. When we sat down to eat at home, the chicken did not taste right. We picked out several pieces to smell and it was definitely spoiled. We returned the uneaten dish to the restaurant for a refund. The front staff were very rude. They loudly said 'not bad, is good chicken' even after tasting and smelling the rotten chicken. They refused to refund the $20+ we paid for spoiled rotten chicken. read more

We arrived during the lunch timeframe, seated promptly, and the staff was attentive to us during our visit. The restaurant was clean and frequented by a more mature crowd while we were there. For ordering from the lunch menu, the portions were very good and the food was fresh and tasty. What I enjoyed almost better than the food, was that the restaurant was carpeted, so it wasn't excessively noisy and I was not listening to the conversations of the people around me. We will be back, this is one of the best local Chinese places on the west side of Surprise! read more

I love the ambiance here, feels very authentic and they play a lot of cultural music to keep up the feel. They have many options to choose from and have good options. The server allowed us to sit outside, but then seemed they forgot we were out there. They apologizd, which was fine. There is an older gentlemen who walks around, he may be the owner, but he is very cheerful and the regulars seem to recognize him and chat with him. Our food was fine, nothing outstanding, but nothing bad. My wife got lettuce wraps, she said it had good flavor. I got sesame chicken, it really lacked any distinct flavor, my wife said it tasted like a donut, too sweet, for me it could gave used something extra to make more flavorful, overall it was good, just not great. I would continue to come back and try different items. read more

We were searching through Yelp for restaurants to eat at and this one caught our attention. My brother and I used to work at Golden Buddha in high school when we lived in Indiana, and this restaurant reminded us of the good old days so we decided to give it a try. The menu items were catered towards westerners and wasn't authentic Chinese. We ordered the following to share family style: Sizzling rice soup - good Hot and sour soup - good, surprised it had shrimp Crab puffs - too creamy, only tasted cream cheese & no crab Fried tofu - good but the dip was oily & flavorless Lettuce wraps - too salty Garlic eggplant - good Chicken chow mein - soggy & noodles were in bits and pieces, not long strands The food wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

Ordered ahead for their lunch special and I got the Mongolian beef. Pretty good portion size for the price you pay. Beef was flavorful and had a nice ginger flavor. Was hoping for it to be spicier. The fried rice is nothing special. Seems like it's basically just white rice cooked with soy sauce. Egg roll was okay and crab puff was pretty much all cream cheese. At the end of the day it was a good amount of food but the food was on the mediocre side. read more
