We should've known this spot would be good when we saw the line out the door just after 5 on a Saturday. We put our name on the list and were told 15-20 mins. It was close to 30 mins later when we were told our table was ready. Service was kind of slow, but it wasn't because the servers were slacking. On the contrary, they were running around the entire time. We started with a PuPu platter, which was a lot of food and all very good. We then split orders of the teriyaki chicken and Mongolian beef. This restaurant was better than I expected it to be! The food is pretty americanised but it is tasty. We came here on a Wed afternoon and it was packed! There is lots of parking in the area. They also have patio seating but I'm glad we sat inside because it was super hot outside during the afternoon. They have lunch specials which are total worth the price. We got the chicken egg foo young with egg drop soup lunch special and the schezwan string bean with pork and hot and sour soup lunch special. Every lunch special comes with fried rice, an egg roll and a crab puff. The egg rolls were very good. The crab puff was ok, we would have liked more crab stuffing. The soups were excellent. You won't go wrong with either choice. The fried rice was average. I have had better fried rice in other Chinese restaurants. The entrees themselves were very good. The chicken egg foo young is a Chinese omelet presented as a cutlet of chicken and egg, bean sprouts, slightly breaded and smothered in brown gravy sauce. The portion was big and I couldn't even finish one of the cutlets, so we took most of my entree home. The schezwan string bean and pork entree was delicious. Husband finished every last bit of it. For the price of around $12 per special, we were satisfied and delighted by the meal. The ambiance is pretty casual but the restaurant is nice. As far as the west valley is concerned, this is a pretty solid Chinese restaurant. It's always tough to compare to restaurants from back where they are from but I like this place. The spicy boiled won ton on the appetizer menu is really good. I can make a meal of it along with another appetizer like an egg roll or fried shrimp. The server allowed us to sit outside, but then seemed they forgot we were out there. They apologizd, which was fine. There is an older gentlemen who walks around, he may be the owner, but he is very cheerful and the regulars seem to recognize him and chat with him. Our food was fine, nothing outstanding, but nothing bad. My wife got lettuce wraps, she said it had good flavor. I got sesame chicken, it really lacked any distinct flavor, my wife said it tasted like a donut, too sweet, for me it could gave used something extra to make more flavorful, overall it was good, just not great. It was like $13 for all that food. My favorite dishes are the Sesame Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Mongolian Beef. The spice levels are adjustable. I also got the mango tea, which is my absolute favorite iced tea in the world. the service is TOP TIER, we were serviced promptly, they were very nice, cleaned up frequently, and packed our food and drink to go. So we visited Big Buddha for the 1st time on a Weds night and the place was packed. We ordered egg rolls, spicy boiled wontons, beef/chicken/shrimp Kung Pao delight, and Beef Chow Fun. The wontons came out first and they were excellent! Not too spicy but just enough to get your attention. My wife wanted to lick out the bowl! The egg rolls were disappointing and I would not recommend them. The Kung Pao Delight was listed as "spicy" but was very bland instead. I had to ask for some chili oil to mix in after taking a couple of bites. The beef chow fun was also very bland even after adding a lot of the chili oil. I know the location is close to Sun City and the crowd was older so maybe they are toning down the spice level due to the regulars. If you want it spicy make sure you ask for extra when ordering.
